I went to soul shine for 4 appointments. It was a decent experience. The technician suggests methods to reduce pain. I had to stop as I was not able to go every week and that's a requirement here. I didn't go long enough to notice visible reduction but there was minimal irritation after the session which assures me the technician keeps it hygienic. I noticed some plucking but it seems to be a common thing from what I read. The office vibe is simple and clean. You have to whisper in the lobby as the lobby is shared but once inside the office you can talk. read more

I have had unwanted hair due to a medical diagnosis for years - as long as I can remember. I have paid thousands in laser hair removal with laser away, dermatologists and even was told that a Moxi/BBL Facial laser would be the "permanent fix" - none of them were. Waxing made me break out with major ingrown hairs, plucking damaged my skin and often led to breakouts and broken off hairs - I was so frustrated and apathetic that nothing would work for me... Someone finally told me about Electrolysis and I looked it up and found Christine. I immediately jumped on her waitlist and when my time came, it was the best thing I could have done!!! Christine is thorough and takes the time to explain everything, over and over because I would re-ask constantly out of nervousness, forgetfulness, new questions - it was NEVER a burden for her and I never felt inconvenient for asking. She wants this to work for you almost more than you do! When she finds herself with extra time, instead of wasting yours, she works with you to find a small area you may want to try (ex. mustache) to do with the remaining time. She is detail oriented in the electrolysis itself - It always feels like no one will find all the little hairs you do with your 20x mirror and tweezers, and yet she does!!! After a year of being consistent and following her schedule, my hairs do not bother me (I still have a few left and have to pause working with her due to some personal reasons but am back on her waitlist) but I am not worried about the few that we didn't get during the right phase of hair growth. I went from having 150+ to now maybe 15 - she is a sanity and confidence saver. I was scared that everything I read about electrolysis said it was "semi-permanent" but the ones that aren't permanent are because it wasn't in the right phase of growth or they're now, but the old ones are gone or wispy and not the thick hairs that really were the problem. I was also worried it would be painful - after tweezing for so long, it really wasn't with some numbing cream (though I am also sure it depends on the area). During the appointment, you can listen to an audiobook or podcasts or music - I always enjoyed our true crime podcasts! She makes you feel super comfortable both on the bed (blankets are an option) and ambiance/support. The cost is really not the high price I was expecting, especially compared to what I have spent on the other modes with no results. The time investment is worth it as well. I haven't actually gotten electrolysis from Christine since 2019, I've been reflecting a lot as I near the end of my hair removal journey and realizing how lucky I am it started with her. I had (undiagnosed) PCOS and a humiliating (to me) amount of facial hair when I started at Soulshine over five years ago - Christine helped with more than just the killing of hair follicules. She was the first person I ever talked to openly about the constant and secret battle I was waging with the beard that honestly would have rivaled most teenage boys. Doing so started untangling almost 15 years of built up shame, which helped with one part of the battle (accepting some of the hair I was always going to have unless I spent the rest of my life and money on electrolysis). She also encouraged me to push my doctor for some answers, which helped with the other part (getting on spironolactone). At this point, I've seen three different electrologists in two states and they've all been great at killing hair follicules, but if you're working through some hair that's not just inconvenient but deeply shameful to you, I can't recommend Soulshine more strongly. read more

Get on on her waiting list ASAP, she said it might be up to a year to get in, but two weeks later she messaged me saying she has an unexpected opening. So you might be lucky like me and get in much sooner. She's one of four electrolysis providers that work with Kaiser. She's the only one though that gave me confidence she knows what she is doing and will rid me of the rest of my facial hair after laser and another electrolysis provider. She exudes confidence and has a bubbly personality. Along with working with me to find a time during the week that will work for me. She does not normally work on weekends, but does sometimes. I never write a review prior to seeing someone, so that shows how much confidence she gave me after talking to her on the phone and through text. I waited way too long to do this review and I honestly don't know why.. I have been struggling with facial hair since I was about 13 years old or so.. It was never really a lot but my sideburns bothered me and the ONE hair on my chin too.. When I turned 17 I decided to shave since I was tired of having to wax... This is where my issue started. My hair grew back overnight and this time it was much thicker. Although I have no idea what may have stimulated the follicles, I was pretty sad. I was charged $120 for a consultation and work for 30 minutes, The person wasn't quite friendly and it seemed like it was just "work" to them rather than a passion to help people with unwanted facial hair.. This negative experience just made me give up. In 2021 I said enough is enough and I started digging deeper into it. Watched so many youtube videos on electrolysis and made sure I educated myself on what a good electrolysis would be like. I then searched on yelp and came across SoulShine Electrolysis with sparkling reviews. I contacted her VIA e-mail and she had a wait list.. She said to give it 6 months. So I patiently waited and I checked in,. She then called me instantly and was the absolute sweetest over the phone! As soon as I met her I knew this was going to be it! Christine is the sweetest! Didn't make me feel embarrassed by what I had going on and I just felt so comfortable instantly! We are now to almost a year on this journey and she continues to be the very best! Going back to my process, I see such a huge difference! I started with shaving daily almost even twice a day if I had somewhere to go in the evening. My face was so irritated from the shaving. I have struggled with unwanted hair for years and I spent an incredible amount of time everyday plucking those darn hairs. I had tried shaving, plucking, laser hair removal, etc. but nothing helped and I got very tired of the consistency (hours everyday) needed to keep those hairs gone. Then one day I found Christine with my wedding 8 months out and my whole world changed. There was a bit of a waitlist to get in to see Christine but it was WELL worth the wait and I'd do it again. Christine is a professional, knowledgeable, and quick electrologist...not to mentioned she is hilarious and welcoming. She knows what she's doing doing and gets things done. She even supported me in my true crime and paranormal obsessions as we would listen to those podcasts during our sessions together. :) Her office is warm and inviting and her table is super comfy. As someone with anxiety leading up to services like this, Christine made me feel important and individualized in the way she tailored my treatments. Update2 : Bizarre thing happened. Other electrolysis practitioners at Blue Orchid who couldn't take me and referred to Soulshine THREATENED ME over the phone saying "no one will take you as we all talk and you gave a bad review." So apparently we're supposed to say everything is OK even though we get bad service. I am writing exactly what happened with me and endorsed soulshine. Isn't that what anyone should do? As a customer, I want to know the experiences so I can decide. Update: After the first treatment, I went home checked in full light. Wrote review and texted her. She asked me to come back. I wanted all gone so she performed thermolysis instead of blend as it's faster. Took 9 minutes. I went for Blend and Christine said she will perform it. She said it takes 18 seconds to take out one hair with blend. So within 15 minutes she should have done at least 40 (I give the concession to set up ).But she only took out 4 prominent hair. I asked her to do specific area. She COMPLETELY IGNORED that and kept doing where there is no need. After 15 minutes could take out only 4-5 hair. I asked her about it and she just shrugged. said she would need another 15 minutes. If you can't do it in first how are you going to do it in next 15 minutes? I kept telling her even though area has significant thick hair and she ignored. All the area that needs treatment is still full of hair and I'm out of money. I love Christine. I'm one of her trans clients. And to be honest yeah it's a rocky road. I have a bad pain tolerance like it's super low. I'm only on hour long treatments, and we're working on getting that to 1.5 hours. But she's caring, compassionate, and she won't lie. I mean you have to understand going in and doing electrolysis HURTS but it's a nessecary thing for permeant hair removal. I mean if you talk with her through your session, she WILL talk. Otherwise she can suggest other things for you to get your mind off that sting. Great place with great results. Been here only once after being treated in another (good) place in the bay area. Christine's hair removal device is new and almost painless. Electrolysis is a painful, long way but it's effective. You must be patient and you will see results. Hair will be much thiner and softer and eventually go away. Christine doesn't treat pregnant women but she welcomes kids if you need them to tag along. The clinic is new and clean and very quite and peaceful. Located on downtown Saratoga (a peaceful area..). Christine is fabulous! I suffer from PCOS and as a result have thick hairs growing in places they shouldn't. Up until now, I'd been terrified of getting permanent hair removal because I was told how painful electrolysis was and that lasers could leave you with hyperpigmentation and burns - there was no way I wanted to get that anywhere on my body.
