I am very particular about the quality that goes into our homes and very respectful of the design and craftsmanship that the original builders created 100 years ago. It is tough to pick a tradesman today. My rules are simple: Listen to me. Tell me what you are going to do. Do what you told me you were going to do. Work with me immediately on the inevitable surprises or if you are not sure. If you do that, we will get on fine no matter what surprises show up. These guys nailed it. Or mortered it. Or pointed it or whatever. The covered patio off our library and living room is really an extension of those rooms and and ties the interior of the home to the exterior. Its elegant stones were laid in an elevated concrete platform that had been giving up the spalling and shattered slate stones for decades. And our dramatic stone entry steps were a muddled confusion of random height wobbly steps, broken stones and four different kinds of mortar. My requirements were: Maintain the original look and design intent. Rebuild this from a solid base up. I don't want to touch this for another hundred years.. Use the original stone if possible (not to save money). Don't make it look new! Make it look like well maintained 100 year old stonework. They really hit it out of the park. The base prep (the difference between a 2 year job and a hundred year job) was immaculate. The stones, the layout, the surgical joints... The job site at the end of each day was organized, sterile clean, and strangely nice to look at. A million little details that you don't think about. Leveling the steps. Making them even. Drainage in a zillion different places. Base materials that stabilize and drain for the next 100 years. They had to ad a step and that meant they had to find a matcher somewhere. And they did it all. Wow. They completely captured the character of the house better than I had imagined. I will post pix in a few days. Your mason better be spending a lot of their time on the base. And have an encyclopedic knowledge stone dust, process gravel, morter, sand, etc. Boring but look around at all the heaved walkways out there. Anyway, these guys are pros. And the work their buts off. I have three more jobs for them on our house. And the job was super fast.. BTW , I did not get a break for this review. I am just SOOO freaking happy to finally find a master craftsman!!!!!

Let me start by saying this is how companies lose customers. I have used Certified Chimney…read moreInspections to sweep and certify my wood stove now for at least 5 years. In that time I have never had an issue with their services until yesterday, 9/22/26. The technician that arrived (Aaron) reviewed the wood stove on the inside and first stated that the pipe connected to the stove, which was an elbow pipe was not up to code and need to be replaced with a t connection as creosote can build up and cause a fire. Second the technician then went on the roof and told me that the chimney stack (pipe coming out of the roof) was not actually rated for a wood stove but instead a gas stove so it needed to be replaced. The total cost for everything was $3000 dollars to complete along with roof work which was not included in the replacement. At this point I asked how could the stove have been inspected by your company twice (two different technicians) before and not be told my system was installed incorrectly. I was told by the technician (Aaron) that the previous technician that inspected the system, (Josh) was a bad apple and no longer with the company which would explain the oversite. This clearly was not an acceptable answer and I stated that my system was then not certified correctly and could have potentially caused a fire for multiple years. Note this is before I knew multiple different technicians inspected the system which rules out the bad apple story (Second technician Angel). The technician did acknowledge that this was not a desired situation and stated he simply was providing his assessment and what needed to be done. I asked for a follow up from management and he left stating no work was done to inspect the system as it was not able to pass based on his assessment. About a half hour after the technician (Aaron)left, he called stating he was incorrect on his assessment of the chimney pipe and that he indeed was able to validate that it was indeed the correct rated pipe for a wood stove. Again I asked for a call from management today or tomorrow, 9/23/26. I did not receive the call on 9/23/26. I instead called around noon time on 9/23/26. I spoke with (Alex), manager at the company. He was somewhat aware of the situation but not fully so I provided the rest of the detail. Excuses were made by Alex stating his staff was fully trained however based on my experience with Aaron and previous technicians this was not the case. Currently the following is true. (Aaron) who arrived and inspected the wood stove on 9/22/26 was not aware of the proper pipe required for the stove. it was only after he left and further validated that the story changed and the correct pipe was actually being used. According to (Aaron) the t connection is required to pass inspection. When asking Alex if this was true he was unsure. Furthermore he made the excuse that the previous technicians probably did not want to bother me to replace the t connection even though (Aaron) is stating it is needed to pass inspection. I asked why would the current technician (Aaron) was not be bothered providing a $3000 quote where a $300 quite for previous technicians was bothersome. Let's not forget that when I pressed (Alex) on how (Aaron) stated that it was required for code neither (Alex) nor (Aaron) could provide the necessary change in code that required this change. When I asked Alex to make it right by inspecting and replacing the t connection for free due to the hassle received he stated that would absolutely not pay for the t connection. So currently I am sitting in a house with a wood stove that could have potentially been unsafe to operate because of an improper inspection by a company which this is their core competency. If I were you I would not use this or any other affiliated link for this company as they clearly are putting their customers at risk of a fire and attempting to scam them into buying equipment they do not need. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! We met with Brent and he seemed great, sounded like he knew everything…read more We also asked if he was insured and licensed, he said yes, but we found out otherwise later. We had leaks in our ceiling around the chimney so we had Brent come over to identify the issue. He said yes, it's an old chimney and he can replace a few bricks and coat it with something and it would no longer leak. He began his work, removed some bricks, and then said he had to go. He came back another day, and removed more. Then had to leave again after a couple hours. He covered had propped the chimney up with a 2x4 which was so precarious and made us feel uneasy. He covered the chimney with a tarp and took off. After this it was a week before we heard back from him, he told us that he had injured his foot so we didn't want him to get hurt on our roof so we waited till he was healed. Then, after that we didn't hear back from him for a month or 2. We tried and tried to get a hold of him but we couldn't find him. Meanwhile our chimney is propped up with a 2x4 and a tarp, luckily we don't really get earthquakes here! Then we heard from his "Office Manager" and she told us that Brent had fallen off of a roof and broke his hip and back. So then 2 or 3 more months went by and we couldn't get a hold of him. Until, we found his "office manager's" contact info on NextDoor and we messaged her. Well, she must have panicked that HIS customers were now contacting HER to get answers for his whereabouts. Guess what, amazingly, 10-minutes after we sent her a message, Brent called us! We then set up a time for him to start work again, and we set a time and date. When that time came, he called and said he couldn't make it for that time because he had an appointment with his nurse or something like that. So THEN we did some digging into his status of insurance and licensing... and found out he WAS NOT insured or licensed anymore, and for a long time. We should have done this right from the start, but we didn't. Live and learn. Anyway, we then messaged him back and told him he didn't have to come back to finish the job and we didn't want him on our roof because we found out he had lied to us from the start. So we ended up eating our $1,300 deposit because we never got it back. Live and learn. THEN we were stuck with a Swiss cheese chimney which could fall at any time. Now, we had to find another chimney mason. We did, and he told us that he could have fixed the chimney leak if it didn't have all the bricks removed and it had to be rebuilt from the roof up! And they did a great job, but it cost us another $7,500. And guess what? The roof still leaked in the same spot!!!! It wasn't the chimney, it was the roof! Our chimney guy said he'd come take a look at it and he could fix the roof because he did roofs too... we then didn't hear from him for a few months after many calls and no answer. One day we tried to call his number again, and someone picked up!!! We were relieved and said "Hi Jonny! We are so happy to hear from you!" The person on the phone said "My name is John, but this is not Jonny... I'm sorry to inform you, but Johnny had passed away a couple months ago". He was in a car crash on his motorcycle on the Jamestown Bridge. We were shocked and horrified, and felt terrible for Jonny and his family. So, we have had quite the experience with this chimney, and it all started with Brent turning it into Swiss Cheese.

To my surprise after Jeff thoroughly inspected everything, told me that it was a Mk-48 torpedo that was dropped from either a P-3C Orion or Seahawk helicopter. At first he wanted $900 just to clean up the remains of the Otto II fuel from the torpedo but then said he'd give me a package deal; torpedo cleanup & put in a new chimney but said he needed $12,500 up front which I paid. Then after he never showed up for any of the appointments I find out that he's been putting in a lot of overtime putting out fires for the Dayville Fire Dept & that he was recently promoted to Fire Chief. So I guess I'm S out of luck on getting my crumbled chimney, the Mk-48 torpedo and all of the Otto II fuel off my house & property. Do not use this guy.
