Although I haven't had any dealings with Doug, Rafa, Cody, or Jordan or Soundman for that matter it doesn't take a genius to figure out these guys are legit. I've been in and around car audio equipment and installs for as long as as I've been in love with cars, which is close to 20 some years. Doug and crew are masters at their craft and love what they do and it shows. Under the humor of it all lays a serious team that knows their shit and will think and do things outside the box that most serious installers would never think of doing and in turn produce some of the most unique and innovative installs I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. I am not impressed. It literally took all day just to install 4 speakers, even though no modification was necessary. They also broke the door molding, although it isn't terribly noticeable. They left bundles of excess speaker wire inside my doors that make a loud thump when lowering the windows. They fixed one, but it also took several hours. I haven't had time to get the other one fixed because of how long I have to leave the car, and the shop isn't near anything for me to be able to walk to, and they have no waiting area. read more

I would give 0 stars, but it won't let. I would do this because Sound Man is incompetent. I bought a nice Alpine CD Radio and a pair of Alpine speakers. Since it was in my motorhome, I didn't want it wired to my ignition switch. I sit for a week or so at a time and didn't want any possibility of the switch accidentally in the ON position and burning my points out. So, I wanted it direct wired. Meaning I would turn the radio on - and off - each time I used it. Seems simple. But I also bought a power antennae at the same time. It draws power when it on. Obviously, this can't be hard wired. I assumed THAT would be wired to the switch, but gave no instructions. A couple of weeks later, when I tried to start my motorhome, it wouldn't. No battery. I brought it to my mechanic. Yeah, it was that power antennae - that Sound Man had hard wired on. My mechanic was telling me this, while assuming I had done it and not wanting to offend me too much, I told him, no, I paid a professional installer to do that. He couldn't believe it. He also said the wire connections had just been twisted together. After we both calmed down - from the sheer lack of professional behavior - he noted that there was a toggle switch, unused for anything, right beside the radio and suggested that both be wired, the power antenna and the radio be wired there. Problem solved. Of course, if SoundMan had direct wired just the radio, no problem. And, since the antennae uses power when it is on, wired it so it was switchable, no problem. When I went back to Sound Man and told them of their extraordinarily poor job, he told me he thought it was unusual that I wanted the antenna direct wired - since, you know, it would wear my battery down, he just did it anyway. So, not only did I pay to have it done, incompetently, I also paid to have it redone, properly. Do not trust these guys with your expensive new radio, or your vehicle. Take it to someone who will think it through - and do the job correctly. And only pay once... read more

Although they have a decent price on some cords, this business doesn't want to compete. I was told they don't compete with online. So i chose to look online, even with including the price of shipping, I could still buy the product for $30 cheaper. There was no price negotiation even though I showed I could get cheaper but would still be willing to buy local if the price was even $10 less. I was told no. Too much mark-up, non-competitive, and not knowledgeable. I have now researched the product and see that the product that was a "great" product has many bad reviews and has issues working right. I hope some research and consideration into products will be done before going into this place for anyone. I am now glad I didn't buy the inferior product for more money from this place. Ok so we took our jeep in here to have a new CD player installed and they installed it fine. As some of you may know alot of jeeps have volume control on the steering wheel when i noticed this didn't work i decided to call and ask if that could be done. So i am on the phone with this lady who first off calls me by the wrong name. When i ask if it can be done she said probably not. Then i hear some guy in the back ground " uh.. its just a cheep one from walmart".. in all my experience pioneer is not a cheap brand. The worst part is i just said "it would have been nice if some one had just given me the heads up that it wasn't going to work anymore." The lady's response (with a snippy attitude) " well its not our fault, we assumed you knew." I don't know about the rest of you but if i could have done this myself i wouldn't have over paid for their services, so i just say " you don't need to be rude" the lady (in the snotty voice of a 15 yr old girl "I'm not being rude i am just answering your question". so i just said " you guys are the experts and i am not." The lady just says "you should have known", then she just starts going off about how she just figured the guy who set up the appointment had told me. This all could have been saved by one statement that all of you who actually have customer service skills would say. " I am really sorry that no one made you aware of that, if you wanna come back we could see what it would take to get that working for you if we can." They shorted my son's deck while installing his amp and without contacting him, they replaced it with one that was worth $20 more. They informed him as he was paying for the work. No big deal, they made things right by slightly upgrading his stereo. We left and came back for the other car that was being worked on. An older lady came out and told him that they got his deck working again and that he had two choices, pay $70 for the one they gave him or take back the one that he had before, that they evidently blew the fuse on. While they were talking, an older guy came out with my son's old radio and proceeded to pull the new one and replace it with the one that Sound Man thought that they had destroyed. Also, both cars that were worked on have engine noise picked up by the stereos when turned on. My son's radio cost $50, so basically they lost a customer over $20, complete incompetence and a total lack of good customer service. read more

I really hope that you take the time to read this before taking your money to this business. Let me explain why: After purchasing a $999 Alpine Navigation/Bluetooth/iPod unit, I was charged roughly another $100 on a wiring kit specific for my 2008 Jeep Wrangler, and told another $125 would be for a "Professional Installation." After 5 hours of "professional installation" I received a phone call from employees stating it had been completed. I quickly learned after returning home that I was unable to change any of the settings on my Alpine head unit because the transmission lock was not properly installed. After explaining this to the employees the following day, I was first asked if this was something that I could change in the settings... After explaining that I couldn't even access the settings because it was incorrectly installed, I was finally able to get the employees to admit that they had never sold or even installed one of these Alpine head units before. That same day I was asked to leave my Jeep at the business so they could fix the problem. After having my vehicle for an additional 5-6 hours, I called the business only to find out that they hadn't done anything to try and fix the problem because they had no idea what to do. So they contacted their Alpine representative who advised them of a bypass that could be used to alleviate the transmission lock issue, however, it was illegal. So I was asked by the staff to write out a release of liability. Me. They want me to write it. I agree, but now they realize they don't have the part for the bypass and it needs to be ordered. When the part finally does come in, I bring my Jeep down for now the third time since my initial purchase. I am quickly appalled at the fact that the employee is now asking me to pay her parts and labor to complete a "professional installation" that hasn't even been completed in the first place. After calmly explaining my frustration to the employee regarding my spending nearly $1300 on a Alpine receiver and a "professional installation" and it being anything but professional, she throws a fit in the middle of the store with customers present, stating "FINE, FINE, just give me your number and we'll call you when it's done, but we're not going to do the bypass." I am not an angry or confrontational person by any means, but I will not stand idly by while a dishonest business tries to nickel and dime me on an installation that was never completed. If you're going to do something, do it right the first time. If you are going to charge your customers $125 on a "professional installation," you better do it right the first time as well. Poor customer service. Poor knowledge of products. Poor business ethics. Just an all around poor experience with this business, I hope for your sake, you take your business elsewhere. read more
