Tony and his crew worked hard on repairing our dry root and even found carpenter ant damage on another part of the house that we had no idea was there! They saved us money by being competitively priced and without cutting corners. Tony walked my husband and me through all that would need to be done to insure that our house would be safe from any further water damage. The previous owners had a deck installed without flashing and a dryer vent incorrectly installed costing us time and money. I'm telling my friends and family about this company. I have such peace of mind knowing that as we find more things wrong with our house, Tony and his crew will do it right the first time and only charge for what is done. I hired Sound Siding to replace a rotting deck in March 2015 that cost me $15,000. I would never hire them again. Additionally, Sound Siding has done a recent $150,000 re-siding project on a West Seattle condo building where I'm a Board member. Their crew covered-up at least one dryer vent with siding by mistake, their grave oversight only recently discovered by accident when our dryer vents were cleaned. Dozens if not a hundred loads of wet laundry have been dried with the moisture being evaporated either UNDER the new siding or into the crawl space where it can cause damage like black mold!! This is an appalling mistake, to cover up a dryer vent with siding! Although Tony's crew does competent work, my own $15,000 deck project in 2015 should have taken only 2-3 months, but dragged on for 6 months while Tony pursued larger condo projects. Tony also told me the unfortunate story of his daughter, and I am sorry for anyone who loses a loved one, especially a child. He sat at my dining table for 2 hours in 2015 and cried when he shared the story, and we got tears in our eyes as well. At the end of his talk, I wrote him a check for $10,000-12,000 to cover the 80-90% partially completed work. Next, 6 months of broken promises went by before our deck was finished and the scaffolding removed. For 6 months we had no deck railing and a 30 foot drop off our master bedroom deck, with plastic and scaffolding left on 3 stories of our house because the project was 90% complete but Tony wouldn't finish the all-important last 10% to put the railing in. At one point, I began to doubt the stories Tony told me claiming our deck railing was on order, so we actually called the deck railing manufacturer and discovered he'd never phoned in the order for our railing despite repeated assurances he'd done so. There were many days he promised Bruce would work on our deck where Bruce just wouldn't show and we'd be left leaving voicemails and texts for Tony that went unreturned. Sound Siding was the epitome of a nightmare contractor experience. While I feel badly he lost his daughter so many years ago, the fact that the story was shared in what I thought was a heartfelt conversation than was then followed by a 6 month nightmare really rubs me the wrong way, and I still remember it 3.5 years later. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but we got burned so many days with Sound Siding. I would never do business with Sound Siding again. read more

This review is for Siding work and window installation. The work was ok, and the price was fair, but it wasn't a great experience for me. I got pressured into doing more work on the house than I was really ready for. They chipped my interior wall up on a window install, which they did (eventually) fix, but I had to repaint it - hence the 2 star rating. Very likable outfit, but I ended up with a few headaches. I was completely impressed with Sound Siding's service. During the recent heavy rains we had the unpleasant surprise of water seeping into our house due to severely saturated siding near a large window. Tony, the owner, gave us a bid the same day. His crew worked hard, nonstop, for two days in the harsh wind and rain. Despite traffic and road closures from flooding they were on time. His crew was professional, meticulous, and cleaned up everything. Tony threw in new window screens, a downspout, and decorative vent covers at no charge. After my initial call Tony came later that same day to take a look at the project. It was a few siding boards that need to be replaced on one side of our chimney. He indicated to my husband that he would send someone the next day. Sad to say the next day came and went, then a week came and went without a phone call, text or any sort of communication to this day. Poor communication. The owner, Tony, showed up at our 13-unit condo building in downtown Tacoma & gave an estimate (within a reasonable period of time) for repairing a leaking thru-wall scupper. His estimate was reasonable, however, he never returned any phone calls left for him afterwards to schedule the work. I tried their office # on 3 occasions (the guy who answered the phone kept saying that the work had could only be scheduled by Tony)...and I left a voicemails on Tony's cell phone an additional 3 times...but he never returned the call. We never scheduled the work with Sound Siding..and end up having a general contractor out of Seattle do the work...so I can't say anything about their quality of work. I am a long-time DIYer that rarely pays for something I can do myself. My interests run from engine repair to carpentry and while I am not an expert at everything I do, I generally do an excellent job. I recently had knee surgery and cannot climb ladders until my knee recovers. As life sometimes goes (luck/karma/divine intervention...), my home developed a water leak up towards the second story where the chimney and overhang meet. The roof has a 10/12 pitch and the last roofer did not put in the proper flashing to keep the water properly diverted (I knew I should have roofed it myself, lol). The previous storm brought lots of water into the area and the water leak developed into a major leak that entered my home between the sub-flooring and hardwood. The floor damage was sudden and quite extensive. I urgently needed immediate repairs to my roof and siding to stop the leak. I was unsure if I could get a solid professional to come to my aid and I needed someone I could trust and one that wouldn't take advantage of my dilemma. I also needed someone that would complete the type of work I demand-a tall order to say the least. That is where FB friends and Sound Siding enter into the picture. The first recommendation we received did not pan out. To be honest, it was weird. My original focus was on hiring a handyman as they are willing to do small jobs. I do not want to bash the individual but he seemed to typify what my worst fears are about contractors-flaky at best. Next, I remembered a previous acquaintance that owned a siding company that does residential and commercial work. I had a very high opinion of his honesty and work ethic. My only question was his availability and was the job too small. I gave the owner a call and explained my dilemma. He offered to meet me the next day. So far so good. Upon his arrival, we reviewed the situation and he offered to do the job-much to my relief. He had two individuals show up and start that very day. He was able to add another for the next two days and the job was rapidly completed. Their work was/is top-notch and I am in full agreement with what they needed to do to complete the job properly. Some carpentry dry-rot and roofing repairs, in addition to siding, needed to be completed. All done to my satisfaction, in record time and at a reasonable price. I could not have asked for better. His crews were very courteous and professional. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up the debris before they left. I would definitely hire them again. read more

I agree with the the other negative reviews. Tony is extremely unprofessional and does not follow up or follow through with his word. I called tony a few weeks ago, he came out to "do a quote" did not give me any information that day, was a complete waste of time, said he would send guys out to look at it as well and then send me a quote in a few days, a week went by I called him again. Spent 10 mins going over the same details we previously went over, told me that I was not in the system and that is why I didn't get a quote had me send an email to him again, told me someone would be coming out that same day, did not happen by the way. Told me I would have my quote within the week. It has now been two weeks and nothing. I was ready to pay his company and have the project started when they were ready to do it. Took my business elsewhere and will be having it started tomorrow. I will never recommend anyone to this unprofessional company. To make matters worse, their office is only minutes away from my house so it was not out of their way to follow through. Disappointing to say the least. read more

I had sound siding replace all of my windows and put Hardy Plank siding on my house. It looked very good at first. After a little while I had moisture between the pains in one of my windows. ( lifetime warranty) It took several calls to get them out to replace the window. Now my siding has gaps and the flashing is falling out in some places. I called and talked to Tony. He said they would probably have to come out and caulk it and he would call me back. He never called back and now won't return my calls. He seemed really good until the job was done and paid for then doesn't care. Not very happy. I would avoid this company read more

They take pride in their quality of work and their pricing was very competitive. The crew was always on time, considerate, hard working, meticulous and cleaned up at the end of each day.
