I have been coming here regularly for about a year now, and still stand by everything I said…read morepreviously. Very fair prices that are in line with industry standards. Good selection of the big name newer stuff, and lots of up and coming indies. Great atmosphere and just a pleasant place to look around and decide what you want to read next. I decided to bump this up to 5 stars though because the employees are so great. Mal, Miguel, Cy, and Logan are always super pleasant and friendly. They give good recommendations and are extremely helpful. I still wish they had a dollar bin. However I feel lucky to have such a nice shop near by full of great people.

First time at A Shop Called Quest and honestly, first time in any comic book store, so we walked in…read morelike newborn deer on wobbly legs. We got a quick greeting at the door and then were left to fend for ourselves in the Marvel wilderness. The store is super organized and visually on point. My son made a beeline for the Spider‑Man section like it was calling his name. My daughter, who has zero interest in comics, appreciated that they also sell books, tees, Funko Pops, and other merch so she didn't have to pretend to care about Peter Parker's problems. Checkout was smooth, and the cashier immediately pitched their membership program. Totally fine, it's a one‑time fee, not a monthly situation but we're just not ready to invest in that level of comic commitment yet. Prices were reasonable: about seven bucks for most issues and one $35 comic my son proudly bought with his own money. I let him live his best life. The plot twist came a week later when he sat down to read everything... and realized he accidentally bought three copies of the same comic because the covers were different. Variant covers: 1. Newbies: 0. A tiny heads‑up from the cashier would've saved us from the accidental collector's edition starter pack. All that said, the store is clean, cool, and has the exact comic‑shop vibe you expect. We'll definitely be back, just with a little more research and maybe a checklist so we don't accidentally buy the trilogy of the same issue again. Great spot overall, just not the most newbie‑friendly. But we'll return, now slightly wiser and definitely more cautious around pretty cover art.

I had a wonderful experience at Renaissance Bookshop, Music & Movies in Riverside. I was searching…read morefor a specific hardcover book that was not currently in stock, but Gene Berkman went above and beyond to help. Instead of simply telling me he didn't have it, he took the time to recommend several websites where I could find the book at a very reasonable price. Thanks to his guidance, I found exactly what I was looking for, and the deal was so good that I ended up ordering two books. Gene Berkman and Jayne Hanson clearly care about their customers and have a genuine passion for books. Their knowledge, friendliness, and willingness to help make this shop a true gem in Riverside. I highly recommend Renaissance Bookshop to anyone looking for books, music, movies, and outstanding customer service.

Parking is available across the street near the goodwill or if you can get a spot on the street. We came in and there were piles of books next to the bookshelves. The sections aren't completely labeled, but if you read enough, you can see what category the bookkeeper has placed the books in. There isn't a certain order (alphabetically or anything). You go in and you peruse what is available . The bookseller is also hanging out in the front and will let you look at the front room or the back room. We saw the children's section, science, graphic novels, AAPI, and fantasy. Their romance was scattered around the store. I did end up leaving with a book purchase. I will say it's hard to look at everything because the lights were also flickering, although there is sunlight coming in. It was quite overwhelming to look at books. Overall the prices were cheaper than a bookstore chain. It's very nice to see these stores still operating. I'd choose this over a chain any day.
