I was referred to South Bay Lock by another locksmith company that couldn't make a chipped car key for my Toyota. Scheduled the appointment over the phone and they were right on time. Tim was super fast and friendly with making me a new key and programming the remote for my car. Maybe 25 minutes after he arrived it was all done. Since I had him there I asked if he could help out with programming a new remote for my 1990's Chevy Suburban that I bought from somewhere else a long time ago, but I couldn't use because it I didn't have the specific tool to code it to the car. Tim pulled out his magic programming tool and took care of that for me at the same time in LITERALLY 2 minutes flat. An odd day came across when I lost my single key to my car in shopping center! How can I drop and lose a key 60 ft from my car to Wing's stop picking up lunch for the office?!? I flipped my car and the street upside down and still can't find the damn key!! I was afraid to leave the car alone to go get my spare key at home (and no one was at home to help me) because what if someone was watching and picked up the key and just waiting for me to leave so they can take off with my car... I mean "What If, right?" So I called AAA for help and they send George & Joey's Locksmith to me. They got to me in 90 long, hot and dreadful minutes, they arrived in a van. Unbelievable that they made a key without "a" "key"! Astonished they removed my door knob and program one w/ their equipment and program a brand new chip in the key on the ignition. (I thought only the car dealership can do this!) Within 20 minutes, the a brand new key was made!!! TA DA!.. Voila!! as easy as 1,2,3! Cost me more then 1,2,3 though. $250!! but Triple A covered $60bucks of it! Although it was a break in the piggy bank, but it was all worth it!! .. I called them because I locked myself out of my car and the Ford dealership wouldn't help me without me jumping through a lot of paperwork hoops, towing my car to them, and charging me an arm and a leg. These guys came right out and opened my car. I had planned for them to cut keys, but they urged me to check to see if there were spare keys in the car. I did, and there was! So they only charged me for coming and making me a spare key! The guy that came out was really helpful, super fast and I paid under $200 for all the trouble. My bill from Ford would have a lot more! This company has been serving the South Bay since 1994. And they are still providing their services today. Almost had a good decent day. Went to lunch over at Sushi 21 in San Pedro. Good Sushi, good services, go there! Haha! But back to the main reason. After having to drive to the restaurant, having my lunch and walking to my car. Found out I lost my car keys between the restaurant and my car. May have dropped it in the drains or it may have been picked up by someone. I was in a panic. Searched everywhere. No where to be found. And I though my car insurance would cover car keys. Apparently they can open your vehicle only, sad. But understandable. Long story short. Me and my cousin called South Bay Lock and we found out they had a mobile unit! And that is where Tim, from South Bay Lock & Security, showed up. Thanks to him and his mobile gadgets! I was able to get another set of keys and copies! And get home in time to find parking! So worth having a mobile company that can help you out when you need them. Just like the saying goes, "Not the hero we wanted, but the one we needed!" FYI. To those who think it cost to much for a replacement. Keep in mind, this is Los Angeles and this company has to come through other locations. Other than San Pedro and the South Bay. Especially for the mobile units. I accidently broke the only key I had for my 2001 impreza yesterday. I went on yelp and found out that this place is local and came today right when they open. 9am. They were able to make me a new key out of my key that broke in half and they were able to give service with a smile as well. The price was fair and affordable. $10minimum to use your card. I was in and out in just 5 minutes. As for the new key itself. It starts the car way better than the old key did. No more jiggling the key to start. Mon., 03/22/21 (yesterday) - unfortunately, dealing with a family matter that required my mom's nine (9) locks to be keyed to one master. I live out of the area but, was onsite to get this matter handled. I called four (4) different locksmiths to get an estimate for the job. All but one quoted me a specific price. so lucky to have found this place! I looked up every lock/ key location near me and they all had poor reviews; the guy @ Hamilton lock (only place w/ good reviews) was upset by my call and never actually called me back about setting up a time to meet like he said that he would. boo. but thank god he didn't, because the next day I walked into Smith lock, where they referred me ~here~ to South Bay! apparently my car key is a strange one-- scions aren't too common, and the remote I have was one that they had to order from Toyota. the guys were super helpful about it every step of the way, explaining to me the situation. they gave me a little receipt, told me they'd call when the key was sent to them, and a couple days later I came in to get it programmed. didn't even take them 20 minutes. and they gave me a non-remote key to have just in case I lock my keys in my car or lose them again, which is really what put them above and beyond. only negative: the cost was a bit over what they had quoted, but I can easily overlook this bc I'm so satisfied with the service. thanks guys! definitely wouldn't recommend any other place but here. read more
