Instead of just politely telling me that it was a misunderstanding, she barked at me for 10 minutes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was gobsmacked by the way I was treated at this establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have never been spoken to this way and can not in good faith recommend this business to anyone I know. I was going to spare all the details but since you are laying out the situation, I can also provide more context. Your other customer at the time was engaging with me. He noticed how upset Martha was and told me to just pay the $17 (5%). When I said it was about the principle and that I was just clarifying a confusion, he called me a C U Next Tuesday and a bitch. Instead of diffusing the situation, Martha said, please don't talk to a paying customer that way. (You were not in the room when she said that to me.) She also never told him to stop engaging with me. She never told him not to speak to me that way. She just wouldn't stop bickering and rolling her eyes at us. Is this what you call exceptional customer service? Additionally, this was a CLEAR case of miscommunication. Why would we choose 5% over $25 off if $25 is more than 5%? We still paid almost $700 for the service and would have paid this anyways. The difference was literally $8. If you had just made it clear to begin with or cleared up the confusion nicely, I wouldn't have left this review. read more

I regret bringing my Tesla to this tint shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the start, a male staff member (possibly owner) who meant to educate me on the different shades of tint was dismissive and condescending, making me feel unwelcome and not taken seriously.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The final result of the tint was much lighter than what I was expecting. The quality of work itself was good which is why I didn't speak up about the shade of tint initially. But it has been months, and I just can't shake how little privacy I have in my car. There's not much needed to say here; they provide very high quality tint application services and have a range of materials for you to choose from so you can pick the price point and product that fits what you want or need. I had them tint my 2018 Tesla Model 3 and they did an exceptional job. I did all side windows, the rear window, and the complete roof. The rear glass was applied as a single continuous piece. I had them apply 3M Crystalline material so I could have the highest heat and UV rejection possible. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of workmanship and material you choose. I will bring back my Volvo S60 when I need to redo my tint and my wife's Volvo XC60 when she wants to get some better heat rejection. Came in for 3M tint on front windows and windshield. Prices were in line with others, within say $50 or other reputable installers. Communication was clear, and I had no problems setting an appointment. After getting my car done, I noticed a small bubble on one of the windows a few weeks later which was not ideal. But George was very prompt in responding and scheduling me in to get it fixed. The staff were all courteous throughout the process. Though I wish it had been flawless from the start, I also have a lot of resect for an honest business that is willing to make things right. So for that I'd absolutely be willing to take my car here again in the future. read more

Exceptional service, very knowledgeable and all there tints are 3M. We recently had our car tinted all the way around and was very happy with the outcome. We wanted the same privacy as the rear, in the front and UV and heat protection in the back and front. George recommended some 3m products to get this done and with 87% to 97% UV/heat protection. Yes, it was expensive, but cost roughly $162 per window, including tax. I fully recommend this place if your worried about tinting your car(s) and having it done correctly. *Sidenote, George still installs by hand and not by digital machines. The work was done late 2022 and I have gone back & forth in my mind since then as to whether to post my review. Obviously I decided today that I would do so. They are very professional and do very good work. My only issue is that I was very clear going in as to why I wanted tint (on just my windshield). I have a lot of light sensitivity in my eyes and wanted some relief from the hellacious glare that not even sunglasses can provide. The lady in the office assured me that tint would help and that the lighter tint would be just fine. It wasn't. It did not help me with my light sensitivity issues at all. I went back to let them know that the windshield tint did nothing to help me and the guy suggested I get a strip (a darker bit that extends maybe 6-8" down from the top of the windshield in a sort of half-dome shape) on top of the tint. So now I was into this for $325 for the tint and another $60 or so for the strip. I know they really wanted to help me, but unfortunately, even with the strip I have very little to no relief from the glare in my eyes at certain times of day, during certain times of the year. I would still recommend them to others but if you have a problem with light sensitivity, then tint isn't going to help you, and a strip might not either. read more

I was given a quote, with options on different types of films, and most importantly given available appointment slots. I scheduled an appointment the next day, smooth easy transaction I was out in less than an hour for my two front windows on my new 2021 Toyota Tundra. Called in the morning to confirm but nobody answers and went to the shop to drop off the car, and the lady in the front says appointment only and won't acknowledge the Yelp message, and waste my one hour to drive there and home. Instantly the front desk clerk helped display all tints and fully knowledgeable when shopping for your first tint. After reaching out to several tint shops in the LA area, I went with South Bay Tinting because they were the only shop that specifically called out using Llumar film, which all the car forums I browsed through recommended. I wanted them to tint the windows on my car and install some dual reflective film on a couple of windows on my house. They were unresponsive through Yelp messages and the request a quote form on their website, but always answered my phone calls. It seems I caught them at a bad time because George was out of town, but they were able to schedule my car tint at their shop immediately, and I was able to follow up to schedule the house windows once George came back. The car tint (3M on the windshield, Llumar on the side windows and back window for a coupe) appointment was for noon and they finished around 5:30pm the same day. George came by my house on time for the house windows and finished the two of them within a couple of hours. As a side note, George is pretty chill and a good storyteller. The entire staff at the shop were all very friendly too. As far as the tints themselves go, Llumar for the house and car windows and 3M for the front windshield pretty much all perform as well as the online reviews say. The car still gets hot if you leave it parked in the sun for over an hour (expected behavior based on what I've read), but commuting during rush hour on the freeway no longer forces me to blast the AC to keep myself cool under the sun (I can feel the difference on my arms when the light hits them). The house was instantly darker as George was installing the film and when I stepped outside it noticeably reflected light so you wouldn't be able to see inside during the day. Since most negative reviews for tint shops involve the film bubbling: it was very minimal on my car when it was first installed, they looked like minor smears and you had to be looking for them to find them. Within a couple of days they were completely gone. They were on the pricier side in comparison to other shops, but I did not expect them to be as cheap since they were using the brand name stuff. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the results, and would recommend South Bay Tinting to anyone. read more

Martha made it quick and simple to accommodate my request. I was at the shop within the hour and George pleasantly went to work while Martha took my payment, and my tints were removed within 20 minutes. He was so kind and I enjoyed chit-chatting with him. Wow! This left me with enough time to make it to the CHP office to get my ticket signed off. I learned that they use only the best kind of tint, made by 3M. The shop was easy to find, just right across the street from Ralph's on Carson and Abalone. Clean and well maintained with super friendly staff. Will probably return to get tints placed back on.
