Beautiful metro park that has the Chagrin River running through it. This area is great for hiking and seeing geological formations. Bicycling and horse riding paths are here. Nice picnic areas are scattered around, too.

This is a gorgeous stroll that I highly recommend doing. The rain made the trail pretty muddy so I would keep an eye out on that before you embark on this hike. There is a little waterfall tucked away and the hike brings you down to a little stream that you need to jump over to get to the other side. There are a couple of routes you can take but I did a 2.5-mile loop called Squaw Rock Loop Trail. I use the app All Trials to make sure I'm going in the right direction because the signage can get a little tough in a couple of spots. There is plenty of parking, a bathroom, as well as picnic benches if you want to just drive there, hike, and then have a picnic.

I adore South Chagrin Reservation. Depending what your hiking style is, you can opt for one of the paved pathways, or go rogue and do a little rock climbing and mud scaling. Regardless of which way you to take, the hike to Squaw Rock Falls from your parked car is super doable. I love the waterfall tucked inside these woods. It's so peaceful, and the rocks are robust enough where you can actually climb into the rock formations and sit around running water. Oddly enough, the cell phone service is quite strong, and I love to sit, take photos and listen to music. I can get completely lost laying in the sun and listening to nature. In the summer, it is so amusing seeing people splash around with their dogs and river hike. The Metroparks does an incredible job of up keeping this Reservation, and its super inclusive to both novice explorers and hardcore hikers. This place is the perfect destination to regain your clarity and take a weekly walk!

Shadow Lake is such a beautiful place. I come here on days when I don't feel like going out to lunch. There are some cool animals that are around and usually some people fishing. A raccoon hangs out in the garbage can daily, so seriously, be careful with what you throw away. You may get the scare of your life! There is a nice half mile trail that circles the lake. A lot of bugs hang out in the bushes so it is peaceful to listen to them make their little noises. Poor cicadas. I think they are already dead. They hide underground for up to 17 years to rub their little wings together to attract a mate, get laid and die in a few weeks. I find myself similar to a cicada. Just a little more grand of scale.

Gorgeous park with miles of trails and ample parking. It would take months to explore all the trails in this large park.

Decent metropark the only downside is that it attracts a lot of people and the trails are short.

We had wag bags for a portable toilet. It was an unnecessarily rude and unprofessional way to speak to a guest. After that, another staff member directed him into a campsite that was extremely difficult to maneuver into. When he attempted to reposition the vehicle, no assistance was offered, and he ended up backing into a tree. The restroom situation was also disappointing. The portable toilets were unsanitary and appeared insufficient for the number of attendees. The final straw came the next morning when staff told him he had to take down his pop-up changing/privacy tent, claiming the health department would shut Nelson Ledges down if it remained. We reviewed the posted rules and could not find anything prohibiting changing tents or wag bags. Rather than explaining the concern respectfully, staff were dismissive and confrontational. After everything that had already happened, he packed up and left early. Before posting this review, I reached out to Nelson Ledges by both email and Facebook Messenger in hopes of discussing what happened. Unfortunately, I never received a response. I understand festivals can be hectic, and I don't expect perfection. I do expect guests to be treated with basic courtesy and for legitimate concerns to be acknowledged. Hopefully management takes customer feedback more seriously in the future and works to improve both staff interactions and the overall guest experience.

Should have upgrades in paper plates ( too small) and cutlery ( higher grade of forks, knives, etc.) Also, only plastic cups for wine. Everything else has to be consumed in the can. Even if you are the last one there, you are bound to get a great spot! As soon as we get there my kids go straight to the food, which is ample and a perfect selection for an outdoor gathering. Let's see, they had ribs, hamburgers, vegan-friendly veggie burgers, potato salad, baked beans, brownies, watermelon and the list goes on! I am always impressed with their soda selection! Diet cream soda does it for me every time! They have a nice, manned lake with paddle boats and canoes. There are a few different playgrounds, most of which, are in the shade. They recently added larger-than-life wooden rockers! There is a little area where kids can redeem tickets for prizes. The soft-served ice cream (vegan, by the way!) and cold novelties are always a hit! They provide hayrides which offer great history of the park and family that owns it. You'll see softball fields and many photo opportunities in the gazebo, pavilion and around the lake. The restrooms are very clean! So, go visit this wonderful, scenic, family-owned gem! I bet you won't be disappointed! You can bring your own entertainment: clowns, magicians, face painters, etc. This would be a perfect place for a wedding and family reunions!
