My experience at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park was very disappointing. The workers were extremely rude, had no manners, and we were overcharged for what we received. On top of that, there wasn't much to do, so the visit ended up being boring and not worth the money. read more

I did my best to stay positive during this camping trip, but it was the actual worst. I camp a lot and I realize that I'm not the primary audience for this site, but this tested me. The two stars are really for some solid food at the beach and the fact that security seemed to respond quickly to the multiple fights/safety concerns that happened during our stay. I understand that it's a spot where people are able to let loose, but at a certain point, the lack of rule enforcement/community expectation here creates an unsafe setting for everyone. read more

To make a long strange trip short, I used to live and work as part of the staff at NLQP. I won't get into much detail about that, but this past weekend was the first time in 17 years that I got to enjoy Classic Fest as a patron. The prices for music festivals have always been reasonable, compared to many other music festivals in the region. Camping is always included in the price of admission. The average festival starts on Friday and ends Sunday. You do have the option to arrive earlier to get a better campsite, but they do charge you $20 per person for each non-festival night you camp. The staff at NLQP are generally very helpful and accommodating, so don't believe all the hullabaloo you may see in other reviews out there. If you should have a question or problem, track down someone on a golfcart or go to the front gate. The staff is there to help and protect you. The campsites are pretty spacious. They ask that you limit it to 3 tents per site and that you carpool for festivals if possible. They may charge an additional fee for those who ride solo during busy times. Also, they have a no glass bottles policy, so hide it well or pack plastic or cans for your alcohol. There's plenty of things to do while visiting NLQP. It's honestly some of the best swimming in Ohio. It's a spring fed quarry lake that even has tiny freshwater jellyfish living in it! (Don't worry, they won't sting you!) There's 280 acres to hike, bike and enjoy. And it's also a very family friendly experience anymore. They have a newer playground and plenty of room to play on the beach. During many festivals they have activities and workshops for kids, too. Speaking of the beach, it's open all summer long. Swimming is from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. Last I checked it was $10 per person per day. Kids are cheaper of course. If you're hungry there's lots of amazing food vendors to choose from. Most of which are open during the summer weekdays for swimming. They even have their own pizzeria called Disco Pizza right on the beach! There's always the option of cooking at your campsite, too. Each site has a firering and wood is available for purchase, or you can bring your own. If you forget any camping essentials, they also have a general store next to Disco Pizza. You can always ask a fellow neighbor for a favor, too. There's a saying that "The Quarry Provides". It's so true. Most people will be more than happy to help others out. And they also have lots of other vendors selling various goods, some change up for different festivals. I have one complaint though. There's only two shower stalls up by the front gate for all of the thousands of patrons to use. So, it's nearly impossible to grab a shower while camping there. They really need to step up their game with that. Atleast there's always plenty of decent Porto potties throughout the park. Some even have hand washing stations, too. So, with all this said in a nutshell, if you've never been to Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, I highly recommend it! There's a reason why they call it "Heaven on earth"! Or the place where "The sun never sets"! It's well worth the commute from wherever you are. And yes, I highly enjoyed my first time camping as a patron in 17 years! Oh yeah! read more

The other reviews here scared me pretty good but I went to Grateful Fest 2023 and it was AMAZING. Every staff member I met was great, the area was clean, the nature was beautiful, and the visitors all friendly. If you're not into smoking pot and drinking moonshine this place might not be for you or your kids during fests. A vendor was holding a scavenger hunt for trash offering prizes for returning garbage of varying amounts, so that most likely impacted how clean the area was. There were trash cans and recycling cans all around and they were very clean and accessible. I adored the fact the staff rode around on a golf cart hauling firewood and ice to sell- I've never had a campground BRING me the firewood, much less at 1am. 10/10, hugely recommend. PS- if funky porta potties freak you out, maybe bring a portable camping toilet or be prepared to squat in the woods- they fill up during fests and it should be expected, but that shouldn't keep you from enjoying this awesome place. read more

So i'm gonna be honest with you This place is NOT for kids... not even age appropriate. I seriously question anyone who brings their kids here, because they are learning NOT kid appropriate stuff here.... This isn't a vaca spot for the fam lol unless you really don't care what your kid is learning. Dustin Y's review is spot on. Been here twice now. I honestly can't believe this place hasn't been shut down by the board of health and/or raided by the DEA. There's so many drugs. Drug dealers essentially have "stores" in there, under easy ups. With signs! I would never, in a million years, allow a child anywhere near the place. Basically, if you like to do lots of drugs, you'll love it. I wouldn't wish the outhouses on my worst enemy. So disgusting. The portos aren't much better. I peed in a bucket in my tent the whole time I was there. I could go on and on, but Dustin Y already said it. The only thing I would add is that there's always a random narcissistic hippie who will wander onto your camp site (conveniently when you are cooking food), will overstay their welcome and won't pay attention to social cues. You will literally have to tell them to get the F out when you've had enough of hearing them talk about themselves. It's super annoying and quite common. COVID SITUATION: it's a well known fact that the modus operandi of the modern hippie is unwanted invasion of personal space and bong sharing, so don't expect any different at the Ledges now. No one is wearing masks or distancing and there's no enforcement by staff either. The only staff wearing a mask was the check in guy and his nose was sticking out. Nice. read more

Wow. Where to start. Sat on the main road for about 10 minutes to get in at 10AM. Then the grueling consent forms, payment and quick check for liquor? Took about 30 minutes to get into the park. Then the parking is just scattered, it's basically wherever you can find a spot, no real gameplan there at all. We finally park and grab our things and go to change in the "bathrooms" which was basically a wooden shack with a composting toilet in it that smelled oh so ripe on a 93 degree day. We change and head over to the beach area. Severely disappointed in it. The website makes it look large and nice, but in reality this beach is about 50ftx125ft at best...for like 500-1000 people. Everybody was right up on each other. We went for a walk back into the "war zone" or camping area because we thought there had to be another beach someplace. (There isn't) It was completely insane back there. In the matter of 10 minutes walking through. We saw and heard, people with subwoofer speakers blasting as loud as it could get, drug deals, people that were completely wrecked or on something, people still sleeping, people screaming and yelling, people throwing up, golf carts driving around. It was crazy. The "camping sites" were jam packed with cars and tents everywhere, it was a huge cluster. The swimming area is roped off for children which spans the entire beach, and you have to go under the ropes and further out if you want any kind of space between you and the other people. The lake itself felt nice but there are some sharp stones under foot. They have safety breaks every hour or so where you need to get out and bake in the sun for 15 minutes before you can get back in. Seems kinda dumb that even the people with floats and kayaks had to get out of the water as well. We walked over to the ledge, singular because there's actually only one, and the line was rather large so we didn't bother. This place is not family friendly, it smells like weed constantly, people drunk 24/7, swearing and just really unsavory people. If you're 21 and just looking to get hammered, not sleep at all, do drugs and go swimming, this is for you. If not, you're probably not going to have a good time. This place has so much potential to be better considering the amount of money they make. 12$ a person, and 50$ per night for camping, they're probably making 20-30k per day. Open up the entrance to the park so you have 2 lines able to get into the park. Take out the parking right beside the lake and dump a couple truckloads of sand in it and double the size of the beach area. Bulldoze the playground area and level it and make a legit paved parking lot. Get modern bathrooms that have more than a single toilet and porta potties with feces all over them. Pave the walking paths. Post some real professional made signs pointing to things and letting you know whats going on at the entrance. Like I said for the amount of money and how poor of conditions things are in, I can only suspect that management has no idea what they're doing and are happy with the current state of it. I was last at this place 2 years ago in 2021....Great water...fun floating on a raft....BUT the restroom facilities are atrocious! Same port-a-potties from Woodstock era...Filthy inside with who knows what all over the walls, seat. This is my favorite place to camp to date. I highly suggest if you're born with a stick up your ass and can't have some fun to stay away from this place. It's family and kid friendly if you're not such a strict a hole. This place is like home. Beautiful quarry to swim in and an amazing hiking spot right up the road. The festivals are sometimes pricey but it's almost always good music and worth it. I look forward to my trip here every year. I take friends and family and we've never had a bad experience. Staff is friendly and always down to help. They thrive on being helpful and polite to everyone in need. I've gone here since I was a kid. This place is whatever you make it. If you go there with a judgmental mindset and can't hang, well we don't want you there anyway. read more

The Quarry Park itself is incredible. I believe they have day swimming and you can go out pretty far and there is even a place where you can cliff jump. I went to a music festival here during labor day weekend. I won't go into too much detail for the music festival as it probably deserves its own review, but the grounds it was held on were pretty fantastic. I would definitely take any chance to spend a few days here and camp because the nature you're surrounded with is pretty incredible and swimming/floating here is a blast. I look back fondly now that it's October at just 3 weeks away when it was 85 degrees and I was on a floaty and a beach here. Man, those were the days. The lifeguards were nice and I felt safe swimming long distances here. I really enjoyed how much of the water is opened up for swimming, rather than just a super small portion which is how I feel like many lakes are setup. I'd definitely come back here. read more

There are a couple porta-pots but they are far away so people just drop their pants and go at the campsites. The "concerts" are just cover bands. The charge was $108 to get in regardless of if you stay the whole weekend or an hour. They said $100 but on my card it showed $108. They People smoke pot and drink the whole weekend and walk around like Zombies! If you have children or a family go to a real campground that has amenities for that price! Were in the area for the weekend for racing at the track down the road and decided to stay and camp Saturday night into Sunday here. The website made it look awesome, but wow was it deceiving. We pulled in, parked for 15 minutes then left. I honestly didn't even ask for my money back. Our site was next to an RV that looked like it was there for years with mannequins screwing behind it. Sex toy in the grass next to the fire pit. Took kids over to the playground and parents were shooting up off to the side. Some 3 year old kid followed us back to our site and started trying to climb in our truck and take stuff - parents nowhere to be seen. It's just outta control. They have changed completely! Been going here for years. Recently they have employees kicking people out for mere questions. They also have a hot head loose cannon, Kristine Kelly, who if doesn't like your looks will make you leave. They treat customers like livestock. Hearding you into places you don't want, flood zone or not, no refunds, no questions allowed. Can't pick a spot. Take it or go home! They also confiscate personal items, if the employees like what they take, they get first dibs over you. It's robbery and i have concerns of the management there. They even kick people out whom already consumed alcohol,after dark, despite the safety of the family. I have made it my goal to speak to the department of health and safety about these policies. The staff are all told to recite "this is the owner back yard, they do as they please" despite the consumer guidelines required to be followed by a paid service. People pay to be there. This isn't a favor by the owners. They have to obey the laws if they want to continue to make millions of dollars. All business are owned by someone. Doesn't mean you treat general population like trash. Hope it goes back to its former glory. Until then, I'll be fighting the good fight to protect other families. Be safe all! read more

Visited on a weekday pass to swim but only after we paid and was in the water was told there was not enough lifeguards so could only swim in a small area. Lacking in management and professionalism. Would not refund or even give a partial credit. So ask before you enter because they won't be honest about having the entire quarry park. It's also a shame weekend are off limits because most of the clientele they cater to are not family friendly. We can only wish for new ownership. read more

There are some nice things about this place like the swimming, cliff diving and kayaking etc... but there was different prices being given on sepetate phone calls then we get here and told we could pick out whatever site we wanted. We chose our first spot then was told certain sites were blocked off so we had to move. I called the front gate and the lady claimed she just found out. There were many other people this happened to they didn't tell them then made them move then later in the day stopped telling people to move. It's like they were very unorganized and didn't speak to each other about what's going on and were not properly communicating info to the campers. Also, I have been to better campgrounds. What can I say about this place that would do it justice and make you understand just how amazing and truly wonderful it is? What can I write here in this review that would make you instantly jump into your car, hop on your bike, or throw on some shoes and begin your trek? Oh, I know. Just one word. Home. Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is truly a place I hold very dear. Beautiful woods, beautiful beach, beautiful water, and most of all, beautiful people. The people I've met here have become friends that I can't wait to see. Picture it: You're directed to a camp site (all of which are perfect) and you begin to set up camp and notice a young couple doing the same thing not 15 feet away from you. Guess what? Instant friendship. We spent almost the entire weekend together as a group, bonding, laughing, sitting by the warm campfire and just taking in the amazing sounds and sights the woods had to offer. There is plenty of hiking to be had here if that is your thing. You can get lost pretty easily, which I love. You may get lost, but don't worry, you'll end up right back where you'll need to be. I always have. There are so many nooks to find and either watch campers jump from a 10-12 foot cliff into crisp, clean water or gaze up at the dark, rich night sky. If you came for the swimmin', well then you're in luck! Sandy beaches await you in paradise. Real sand too, not tiny pebbles. Sand you can sink your feet into. The water is always clean because of the filtration system they have installed. If you ever have a chance, take a pair of goggles with you and swim out a little ways. You may be able to see some of the items they sunk in order to create a nice little scuba diving playground. That's right folks, you read correctly! There's also SCUBA DIVING to be had! I've never done it myself, but I'm sure it's just loads of fun! All throughout the warmer season of the year, NLQP (that's right, we're on an acronym name basis) holds plenty of Festivals, with awesome live music, amazing food (OMG Disco Pizza!!!) cool vendors with cool things to sell, laser light shows, fireworks, it really goes on and on. And no, it's not like you're typical crowded street fair or huge pseudo-Woodstock. You have plenty of room to dance down the dirt paths, sing as loud as you like and smile through without a care in the world! There are showers that are located in the front of the park, I've never used 'em. There's a lake people! During festival season, the porta-johns due get fowl, but they're pretty good on upkeep. Just make sure to bring your own toilet paper with you. You aren't allowed to bring in any glass containers into the park or any outside firewood (due to quarantine of certain species of bug) but if you're willing to push a decent sized wheel barrel to your site and back, it ain't a thing. There's potable water but again, you're gonna have to truck it back to your site. Just bring your own. Might as well! I wish I could turn these 5 red stars into 5 GOLD stars. This place deserves nothing but the best rating because it's given me nothing but the best times of my life. I'm completely serious. This place truly feels like home to me. I love it here. read more

I decided last minute I wanted to go camping Memorial day weekend while visiting my sister and her family. We found a spot away from people and set up camp and left to see family. We returned to the site to find 10-15 people partying around our tent. At 11pm the music came on quote loudly and remained on until 2:30 am. So much for quiet time at 11. Maybe at some other time this would have been a great camp ground for me to hang out at but not when I wanted a relaxing place to hang out. It was way over priced for what you get. A place to put a tent, a fire ring if you are lucky and a dirty potty. read more

Ahhhhhhhhhhh. I love NLQP. I've visited three times, each for Gratefulfest: '06, '07, and '12. Each visit was during a multi-day camping festival, so I had plenty of time to evaluate. This place is mostly off the radar for folks who don't live nearby. For those of us who have made the discovery, we've found our way to a campground with seemingly endless woods, spacious campgrounds, and a quarry filled with fresh water, clean enough for the Virgin Mary to go for a swim. It always seems to be full of families, too - lots of kids having a great time, and parents who are just so happy to be away from home for a while. The music comes from two stages, located so close to each other that a change of attention requires about a 90 degree turn to the right or the left. The beach is right nearby, so if you're floating around in the quarry, the music is still clear as day. And this year, the food vendors were offering excellent food at totally reasonable prices. Ever had a walking taco? I've seen some drug activity here for sure. But that was five years ago - in terms of people openly selling drugs, that stuff apparently doesn't fly here anymore. This year, we only had only one person try to sell us cannabis in a five-day period, which we respectfully declined. Pretty reasonable for a hippie jam band festival. But those Port-A-Potties can get pretty hairy. read more

I go here every 4-6 weeks in the summer months. NLQP is paradise. The day time is a picturesque beach & excellent beach side food. At night, much of the forest is a music and laser light show done entirely by campers. Each site has its own flavor and mood. However, most people welcome admiring passerbys into their site. The park does has a family friendly section since the forest is more or less alive all night. This camp ground is unlike any other I have visited. We got there at 5:50pm last weekend and, by the time the staff was done checking all the cars in front of us for possible 'hidden' people, they told us all we were too late and the park closes at 6pm!! So we all look at our cell phones - which read 5:58pm! So the super chunky girl tells us "Well, it's gonna cost you $40 and you'll only get to jump off the cliffs until 7pm!" So in marches this rough-looking druggie who claimed to be 'the manager'. She yells to all of us "Yer all gonna have to pay $50 each!! And we close at 7!!" So we all paid our $50 and THEN as we are walking to the cliffs at 6:15pm, we see the lifeguard who tells us the manager needs him and he shut the cliff down! So we all start jumping off the cliff and the manager hurried a guy in a canoe over to tell us "The NEXT PERSON WHO JUMPS OFF THAT CLIFF GOES HOME!!" So, as we're walking back, the lifeguard just so happens to be coming back to his post right at 6:55pm!!!! Please avoid this place at all costs!!!!! The manager just wanted to stick it to us - but I'm going to let everyone on every social media site know about our experience!!!! I'll make it worth it!!!!! read more

Terrible employees. This worker passed us & just told us not to jump from the "big cliff" and that a lifeguard would be coming soon...he never said anything about going to the lower rocks or swimming. My 3 friends and I went over by the cliff area and never jumped because there was no lifeguard, all we did was sit by the rocks and swam super closely to the lower rocks. This lifeguard comes over on a kayak and screams at us to get out of the water and claims he told us not to even get into the water. We said we would and apologized many times, we simply did not know we could not swim. He continued to not yell, but scream at us for another 2 minutes while we were dead silent and told us to leave the entire park. He also said we would each get our money back ($12 each) but when we got to the front they denied. He could've at least told us to go to the beach area instead of the cliff area. We drove 45 minutes, payed 12 bucks to get in, and we there for FIVE minutes. All the employees are beyond rude. I'm never coming here again. read more
