UPDATE: Since I posted my review, every concern I had was rectified and then some. I cannot stress…read moreenough how much I respect this doctor. He truly does listen, and takes your imput as well as your treatment seriously. He needs to be on the cover of a magazine or something, because I was crying and vomiting from pain almost daily, hardly sleeping, and utterly out of hope. Such extreme pain makes you feel like you're going to lose your mind. Dr. Ky has changed everything for me (Tracy, the specialist therapist is a godsend as well), and I can say with full and complete confidence that this is beyond five star treatment. ESPECIALLY in America - it took me years to find someone like him and Tracy. They're on top of all the latest studies, and are happy to educate you whenever you ask. It's wonderful. This guy is a rising star, and now the staff is truly comprised of compassionate, angelic beings. Seriously, they are the nicest nurses ever. I think the beginning phase there just had a few post-opening hiccups. If you come in for a consultation, you will see why I instantly loved these people and wanted them to succeed so desperately. Pain management deals with individuals who are extremely stretched thin, worn out, and we don't rest well and therefore can feel quite sensitive. Being stressed about potentially not having your medication/being dropped as a patient is a constant fear a majority of us have, so it's seriously terrifying to assert yourself when asking for updates or whatever. That is not something you should worry about here, so long as you are cordial, obviouslt. It's so great and exciting that there's a solid team now who handle interactions in a way that makes pain management, well...painless. (Yes I'll see myself out) Keep up the good work, everyone!!! We need you out here!

The staff was so helpful and polite. The doctor actually looked me over ran some manual tests and now I am going to get treated the proper way. What a great place. A bit off the open track of places and I live in Imperial Beach, but the drive is so worth it. I have told other people if you want a doctor who does care go here, and you wont be disappointed. 5 BIG STARS!! Thank you. James Marshall

She came into my postpartum room extremely rude and hostile, didn't even smile, didn't even congratulate me. She was very condescending and seemed to want to make me feel intimidated based on her job title, once I even found out what her job title was after our altercation... She demanded to me rudely to turn my TV off because I kept asking her to repeat herself, even after my infant was crying over her and I couldn't hear her, I wasn't even aware she was the social worker because she did not state that, she must have used another term but I was unaware she was the social worker when she introduced herself and her job title to me, not once did she say "social worker". After she left I asked the nurse when the social worker would arrive and they told me that she was the social worker. Her name was Ganell? Or Janelle? I felt like she made decisions based off her own personal dissatisfaction and judgment toward me, and was extremely unprofessional and power driven, keeping me at the hospital and preventing me from being discharged as some form of personal punishment for not taking her attitude very well. I even overheard that based on her judgement; that I might have to stay until Monday, and the stress has been killing me, for reasons she kept me, she didn't even inquire about, or even ask me to explain anything regarding her own concerns. I came in Wednesday at 6cm dilated in active labor around 3am and have another child waiting for me at home. I've been here basically 3 days and counting and I feel like I am in a postpartum prison. I don't understand why they cannot continue investigating my case at home and let me go home. Even a lot of other staff members and nurses are confused that I am having to stay so long and were surprised that I was no longer able to discharge based off Miss Janell's orders and "discomfort" of me.

She asked to stay on hold, I was there for around 40 mins, then she hanged up. I called again she said to stay on hold, same story. And then I tried to call again she stopped picking up my call. I spent hours now and wasted all my morning and got nowhere. Destroyed my day.

Upon arrival the girl up front was nice, checked me in, and notified me that my insurance covered the xrays that I needed that could range up to $700 otherwise. $60 co-pay, Great start! This is where everything goes sideways, I get xrays, I know my tooth is in very, very bad shape but the doc comes in and basically says he needs to do the most work and the most expensive treatment and completely re-do everything. Well, of course thats the case right? I ask when they can schedule me and they say right now! Perfect, I get taken back to the same xray machine for a second xray, then back to the room where the doc spends 5 minutes removing my temporary filling and then saying he can't do the work (I'm summarizing here, it was 20 minutes later, the first 5 I got numbed up, spent 10 waiting). Well, what the heck? What do I do now? They slap a tiny piece of temp in this giant hole in my gum, refund me all but $650 for an xray. The xray the girl said I was covered by insurance. But this one was a different special xray on the same machine doing the same thing that I have to pay for? The Dr "used" the xray I'm told. Used it how? I'm not sure, I spent $700 in 3 hours and left the office in much worse shape that I entered, no work done, the temporary that I came in with was gone so my gums and infected tooth are now exposed and bleeding. It's also the weekend and I can't get back to my original office till Tuesday morning so this will be 4 days like this. All in all, I feel like I was price gouged, poor customer service, negligent treatment, and mislead through the entire process when in the end all they had to do was look at my tooth and know.

I was wondering at first and thinking how small is this area for parking to be a big of a problem. We came an hour early just to scout the place. They were not kidding. It's a big structure with lots of parking space but also full parking lot. Just like where I work.. it took us 20 minutes to find a parking space and was lucky to have it near the building where my appointment is. Reception wise, same as other Kaiser Permanente clinic or hospital I went to. In about less than 10 minutes, they called for my name and there's Ms Anna Lee and Mr Andrew receiving me warmly by the door. They brought me to my space and let me change into patient gown and Ms Anna Lee walked me through the procedure, Mr Andrew started my IV and I am very appreciative of him granting my request without questions. From there I already felt at ease and most of the questions in my head regarding the procedure were already explained. Few minutes passed and Mr Jonathan came in greeted me and introduced himself and took me to the procedure/sedation room. He also walked me through the things that will be done in that room. Mr. Cesar and Ms Kara were there as part of the team. Moments later, Dr Masters came in and explained to me what will transpire and ask me if I have questions. Procedure was done and all went well. I really appreciate being assigned to this team. They have exceeded my expectations. I was at ease and I have no doubts or questions during my visit. This is the quality of service I would like to have and also what I try to give to our patients as a healthcare personnel. Thank you so much to the whole team. Keep up the good work. :)

The parking situation has become very challenging since the hospital opened and there is often a bottleneck in and out of the free valet parking but that's just an annoyance. I have become increasingly frustrated by the time it takes to schedule elective appointments however. I was told I needed cataract surgery in June 2025. I didn't get a pre op appointment until 1/8/26. Recently I developed an issue with my scalp and wanted to see a different dermatologist than I'd seen in the past. His first appointment at that time (6/8/26) was at the end of September. I called the appointment line that day and made my request. I was told that there were no appointments available and they'd get back to me. When I followed through I was told I was on a priority list and they'd get back to me, which hasn't happened yet. I question whether any other HMO is better. I think they're great if you only need maintenance but, as you age, they don't have the invested resources to take care of my only growing needs.
