Con man operation. Charged my Elderly father over $500 for a 10 min tow to remove his car stuck on a car wash roller. Claimed it was because they had to use a winch which is how you get a car onto a tow truck every day of the week. Made claims to take my dad to court, Claimed we left scene without paying even though the cop said we could go. Shady buisness. Did not receive an itemized bill explaining what the charges were even though that is mandated by law. read more

Woke up to go to work After 3 years living here next to family dollar. No signs posted to not park, plenty people park overnight and even some rv parking. And this morning my car was "stolen" called the police to find out south coast towed it as a "private property tow" this is a public shipping plaza owned by 5 different businesses, never had a single issue with them and even had the ok to park there by a few store owners as they know me. Now I have to miss a days pay, find a way to south coast, stop at a bank, get cash, and bail my car out because they took it upon themselves to tow it out of a public parking lot. I could not be more appreciative of the job that Matthew McKay did today towing my car. My car was in a garage that was flooded and my car's electrical system was damaged and not working. He managed to find a way to get my car onto the truck even though it was a very tricky situation given where the car was parked in the garage. He did so without damaging the car or the garage. His skills were exceptional, and he was also so patient and diligent. I learned that there is a level of expertise in towing that I wasn't aware of. He is a "recovery" expert versus providing just roadside assistance. I was fortunate to have Matthew help me with a very unfortunate situation. Jamie, the Female Rep who works at Southcoast Towing in New Bedford/Fall River has no business working as an emergency dispatch operator. She thinks it's up to her to pick and choose who gets help and who doesn't with no regard for an emergency. What this girl Jamie put me through is enough for a public complaint. Her negligence needs to be called out, somebody could get hurt with her illegal failure to provide obligational assistance. I sat in New Bedford with a dead battery for 4 hours because the Roadside Assistance request i put through Geico led to South Coast Towing. Since my battery was dead so was my phone and I was on 1%. They never came, I kept getting text messages from them and when I called I was rudely spoken to and hung up on. Geico and her were clearly notified my phone was dead/dying. This company has a contractual obligation to provide services through Geico, and I am a customer of Geico, and she is an employee-with the specific job as an emergency dispatch operator. She left me hanging; telling me she could call Geico but I'm supposed to-but she will and then it was unclear. She hung up on me again, when I simply asked for confirmation. It felt like I was calling an ex-girlfriend for a favor out of nowhere to get me a jump start...Jamie's horrible-emotional reaction, was the exact opposite of the customer service claims on the South Coast Towing website. The fact of the matter is; they got notified where I was. They confirmed I was getting assistance. I confirmed with her where I was. They knew what service I needed, end of story. With her own words, Jamie told me she had the ability to help but knowingly left me there again hanging. Next Jamie told me to put the submission through Geico again, but I could not because the claim was stuck on South Coast Towing which I told her. And then ended up saying, I can do it with cash, and I said yes please I have the cash please send someone my phone is dying. But she would not just say yes help is on the way, and when I pressed her yes or no please tell me she said no and hung up again. Well I was frustrated, so I climbed on my roof to detach my solar panel-which of course was in the shade, and get it in the sun to try to get a charge. I almost fell off the roof and dropped the solar panel, which completely shattered at $150 a piece. Thank God it still gave me another 1% after about a half hour, and I was able to call GEICO- getting through all the automated crap, losing power once, Etc. Long story short: Geico called Correia Towing in New Bedford and they were there in 20 minutes. They were super nice and the guy was awesome. Charged my battery within 30 seconds and I was on my way home with no problem. Now that I have battery I can see that South Coast Towing was 7 minutes down the street from me. I am Sorry to anyone who might have to read this whole thing out of curiosity, it's a big waste of time. But now that I have it written down, I can submit a claim to the court Monday; because I am suing the pants off Jamie, South Coast Towing, and Geico for damages pain and suffering. If We don't hold those accountable who are in positions of power that use it to hurt people when their job is to help, then this Society will continue to be filled with pain and suffering. What if I had a baby with me? A pregnant wife? An elderly grandmother? Leaving a customer in the blaring heat 4 hours on purpose is unacceptable and could have been dangerous or deadly. Making bad choices that affect people when you are under obligations is illegal. It's time we separate the Bad actors and remove them, because there's plenty of capable-good people, that would appreciate the job-and do it well. They towed my elderly mother's car from a parking lot across the street from Immaculate Conception Church who was assisting her 93 year old friend bring groceries into the house. She comes out and her car is GONE. She goes to South Coast Towing to get the car and it's $175.00 charge CASH ONLY. The church parking lot across the street has a faded NO PARKING SIGN that is so old you can't read anything. They refuse to fix the sign because it is on private property. I have contacted the City, The Police Department and the only thing now that can be done is to sue the tow company and the church. But I was suspicious of the invoice so I was told by the person that does my income taxes to submit the invoice to the IRS and you can do the same. I called Southcoast Towing and asked if they file their income taxes yearly and the woman hung up on me. Good Enough. Time to submit my invoice from Southcoast to the IRS to make sure Uncle Sam is aware of these CASH payments. Let the audits begins. ZERO stars. a group of criminals and scammers. ILLEGALLY towed my car from a parking lot that stated "customer parking 2 hour maximum" in which we were customers and were parked for less than 1.5 hours. spoke to the security guard of the lot who said my car was towed 10 minutes ago bc one of the aunties in the store saw us "walking away" and called the towing company... despite the fact that we were customers - VERY guilty of predatory towing. called the towing company at 4:52pm, first guy who picked up told us their office closed at 6pm, then hung up while I was asking questions because another customer was calling. called again once we were in the uber and the second guy said that they closed at 5pm and since it was past that time they were charging me an after hours release fee. came down to $542 ($250 towing, $70 storage, $125 after hour release, and $7 tax). a fucking EXORBITANT amount of money and they provided inconsistent information. they also did not care that I was ILLEGALLY TOWED. almost positive they are in cahoots with the aunties who work the stores as well as the security guard of the lot. I would not have even given this company one star if I did not have to but you do. After an accident where the police called because my car was immobile, they refused to tow it to my body shop, instead insisting they had to tow it to their yard. After speaking to the rude dispatch operator they finally towed it where I wanted it, which by law they have to but insisted on me paying for the tow even though they are supposed to bill the insurance agency( which they probably will as well). Then they charged my almost $500 and put the millage on the bill as 68 miles for a 12 mile tow from New Bedford to Westport Ma. I requested a tow through AAA for my Nissan Rogue on the side of the highway on Route 24 North and South Coast Towing was the one that received the call. The tow truck driver did not use a flatbed for my car despite it being AWD, and dragged my rear wheels on the ground over 20 miles to my house. My rear differential ended up damaged as a result of the driver's negligence. Despite placing a claim through AAA as soon as it happened, I was without a car and forced to pay out of pocket for a rental for almost a month as the tow and damage occurred on 8/26 and my car was repaired by 9/25. The repair itself took less than a day to complete but my car sat at the shop for that whole time due to the tow company refusing to pay for my car to be repaired. DO NOT trust this tow company with having the knowledge to tow your car correctly without causing damage and taking liability for the damages they've caused!! read more

Criminals. My car was moved by the parking lot where I parked it to another location because they rented the lot to a film production company. They were no help. They had no idea where they put my car. Finally South Coast towed it from where the parking lot company had lost/hidden it. South Coast sent me a letter telling me that they were going to sell my car if I didn't pay them an exorbitant amount of money (over $1000.00 by the time I got the letter and going up $71.50 per day.). They were just garbage to deal with. Completely uncooperative. Basically they stole my car. If you come in contact with them you are screwed. I will be filing a complaint against both with the Better Business Bureau and DMV. You can see from others comments that my experience is not unique. read more

I tried to retrieve my vehicle and their credit card machine was conveniently "broken" when I told them I had no car and no way of getting cash... the man behind the gate proceeded to offer me a ride to the bank. After refusing to ride in a car with a man I did not know to retrieve cash, the man proceeded to slam the gate in my face and tell me to "figure it out" mind you it was late and I had no way of getting home. The next morning... same issues the credit machine was broken and it was cash only. I've already filed a complaint with the better business bureau, police and the city. After waiting and hour and a half I called again to see if they were on their way the next guy I talked to sounded as though he had just woke up. Do not, do not, DO NOT trust this place. Already starting off sketchy, (the first thing the driver says to me is "can I be rude?" and proceeds to tell me how he is starving and "fucking miserable") about 3/4 into my short 5 mile drive the driver tells me that he has to charge me a "serge price" where mileage is disregarded and they charge by the hour instead. 200 DOLLARS an hour (makes sense considering he attempted to drive up the time by asking if he could stop and get something to eat). Not to mention he spent the entire car ride insulting and belittling me and even blew cigarette smoke in my face as he told me "you only live once, sweetheart." After we finally reach my destination he tells me that my puny 30 minute and 5 MILE drive with him totaled up to nearly 400 dollars. After my initial credit card is declined for this absurd amount he starts threatening me and telling me I have to bring him cash to his personal address. He won't let me leave at this point and I am terrified. Shame on this company for preying on young women in a vulnerable situation. Worst company i have ever dealt with. Drive tells me i can't get my vehicle out of impound because no one is available to release it from computer and no one is in the area? Ok ... when can i get it ? You can get it at 7am tomorrow morning and yes we take credit cards, it will be $90.00 dollars. Well --show up at 7am and no one is there and no one is answering phones, gate is closed. My vehicle is unsecured and dropped crooked in there lot. Its now 7:45 and i finally get a hold of someone and they tell me someone can be there in 15 minutes and it will be 190 dollars now for storage and tow , etc. and it is cash only ???!!! So yes i am upset even more at this point. I take all my money out of the bank and head back to the tow company and no one is there! Wait until after 8am and John Mederius shows up and take a picture of my license with his phone, opens the office .. hand writes me a receipt spelling my name wrong and takes my cash and says i am all set ! I understand the men have a job to do & towing is what that entails however being rude is not apart of your job description. Stopped by my mothers house for less than 15 minutes as I come out I see the tow on a neighbors vehicle. I quickly walk over to my car for the tow to move from that vehicle to mine. I would not be writing this review had they treated me the way the treated the first vehicle they tried to tow. She had not given them the money yet however they quickly moved to my vehicle then refused to take the tow away. If I didn't ask if there was something I can do to prevent this none of the 3 men & on-site officer wouldn't have said anything. I take out the $90 rather than the $163 if they towed it to the office. I asked for a receipt because I cooperated, gave my license & now giving you $90 cash I want proof that this is all getting logged. I stated I was not handing over the cash until the receipt was emailed & in my inbox. What was that for? They towed my car anyways because they didn't want to wait the 2 minutes it took... you see the cash & have my license in hand but got mad that I wanted a receipt. All this due to there not being any other vehicles to tow but the other woman got the tow taken off & gave the money after the tow was take off her vehicle but yet I was given a hard time & still got towed & paid full price. Zero stars, this is a horrible company that likes to rip people off by charging 3 times more than what the police department charges and then they only take cash. That is not a legitimate business! They charged me $335 for having my car there for only 2 hours. Be very careful if you're a woman. DO NOT go there alone. These people are rude and they are bullies. They seem to get their kicks by intimidating women. They did not want to move their tow trucks after I paid. They were just telling me to "go back there, your car is back there". I could not get my car out. I had to get on the phone and call a friend to tell them where I was in case I was raped or worse. Such assholes!
