This is hands down the best run sporting exercising in south Florida. The instructors are great and thoroughly, the coordinator Mel is reliable and keeps to her word. The company maintains and tracks the credit for any packages you may have purchased. I have taken almost ten lessons with this company over the last 3 years and they honored credits from a package over a year ago. The event is more than just a kite surfing lesson. You get to go on a boat, you go to Stiltsville or wherever the wind is best and the area safest. You also get snacks and an adult beverage for the ride back. The total time is about 4 hours. The single best experience I've had on my kiteboarding journey! Thank you Melissa, Charl and my instructor Camila for two spectacular days. ‍ Before coming to South Florida Kiteboarding I had gotten stuck. I was able to get up on the board but wasn't able to get a run in longer than a few seconds. That all changed with SFKB. Not only did I break past that barrier, I was flying downwind in both directions. My first lesson with them was an absolute game changer Why is it so great to learn with SFKB? Wonderful staff and instructors, great equipment and a gorgeous boat to take you out to the riding spot. They took us out to Stiltsville, a giant sandbar with great wind, shallow water and calm waves. The location has so much room to ride in, and you don't have to dodge around a ton of people like you would on the beach. It's the best place I've been to to nail down the fundamentals and get comfortable riding. After two lessons, I'm getting even more comfortable riding up and downwind and am super close to being independent. Love this crew and can't wait to get back out on the water with them! ‍ read more

Melissa, the owner of South Florida Kiteboarding, is the hardest working girl I know. Twice a day she packs her boat with kite gear and students at her marina in Coconut Grove and heads across the bay to Stiltsville to give kiteboard lessons. The conditions there are perfect.... flat, shallow water and plenty of wind. She, and her other instructor Leo, are passionate about the sport and very patient with beginners. They also offer boat taxi service to Stiltsville for independent riders with their own gear. We had the most amazing week with South Florida Kiteboarding, and can't wait to go back. We spent the week with Nik, Ana Paula, Marina, and Charl, and couldn't have asked for a better experience. My partner has been obsessed with kitesurfing since learning with South Florida Kiteboarding back in 2018, and finally convinced me to take 5 days of lessons while in Miami for a wedding. The team took us out on the boat to two different beautiful spots over the course of 5 days (Key Biscayne and Virginia Key), and I had the chance to learn in both low wind conditions to incredibly strong conditions. Ana and Marina were SO patient with me, and made me feel incredibly comfortable in the water doing a fairly intimidating sport. I had so much fun, and was able to see improvement every single day, but most importantly, Melissa's team was so incredibly nice and fun. I had two great sessions with Melissa, Charl and the whole Gang, and I think the best instruction I've ever received from Marina, who showed infinite patience and had fantastic cues to eventually help me ride upwind (give or take ;-)). Importantly, SFK were super responsive, transparent about payment (which was a nice change from some other places), and really made sure everyone got (arguably more) than they paid for. I just love South Florida Kiteboarding! Melissa and her crew are amazing; they bring the fun to the water and yet they're so professional. I have been watching their boat come and go from Monty's in the Grove and finally went over. They have a big Carolina skiff that took us out near Stiltsville, away from the crowds. The crew speaks at least 3 languages (English, Spanish and Italian). Rental gear was clean and new, mostly Cabrinha. We bought some rental gear from them and feel we got a good deal. Nice people. I took a lesson with South Florida Kiteboarding and had an awesome time! Daniel was my instructor and provided simple and clear instructions that helped me to progress to standing up by the end of the day. The location in the bay is perfect and is a much easier environment to learn in than practicing on the ocean where you have to deal with waves and deeper water. If you ever drift too far off the sand bank Melissa is also there to scoop you up on her jet ski and drive you back into position. Best company to learn how to kiteboard! I took 1 lesson at Crandon Park before coming to Melissa and I can honestly say this is the better place to not only learn but also to kiteboard!! Ive had 4 lessons with Nick who is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and so friendly! The way he explains everything makes it so easy to learn. And you can't beat the location. It's extremely beginner friendly with views of Miami. Melissa and the rest of the team are very professional and so friendly that you feel welcomed the first time you go! I have traveled all over and taken lessons in Mexico, Grenadines, Turks, Hawaii and this was definitely one of my best experiences. Not only did Daniel hustle to find me a last minute instructor (I called an hour ahead), but the vibe was what kiting should be. The venue is mostly flat, waist deep water so it's great to learn in (beginner- moderate) and Melissa is running the school right. You are paired 1:1 with an instructor in the water. They have a jet ski for safety and you are boated to the site in a very comfortable manner. Rental gear is more than suitable. The team is also all about safety- you will learn, challenge yourself, but in a safe environment... they truly make it a fun experience. I can't wait to return and make some more progress. I've been going regularly to South Florida kiteboarding for two seasons now. The instructors are top knotch and quality teachers. Safety is a priority for them. All the instructors Melissa have are wonderful however some worth noting are NICK from Germany. He is patient, kind, helpful and so knowledgeable. Watching him handle the kite is pure joy. LEO is also very good and has been a regular teacher for me and has advanced me in my skills as well. The location in Miami is perfect for all levels of kite boarders. Thanks!! read more
