Our experience at South Florida Vision in Delray Beach was unfortunately very disappointing. I came in with my two daughters, and despite arriving on time for our appointment, we waited nearly 2 hours before being seen. The office feels extremely high-volume, and instead of receiving personalized attention, patients seem to be processed as quickly as possible. Once we were finally seen, the appointment itself felt rushed because the doctor appeared to be running far behind schedule. Communication between the doctor, optical staff, and reception also seemed very disorganized, which created confusion throughout the visit. I was especially frustrated by the lack of clear communication from the front desk regarding insurance coverage and protection plans for glasses. On two separate occasions, staff failed to mention available protection options for the frames. Later, when the frames broke, I was forced to pay out of pocket because no protection plan had been added or properly explained to us at the time of purchase. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the staff made me feel as though it was somehow my mistake for not having protection coverage, even though I was never offered or informed about it in the first place. Instead of taking accountability for the lack of communication, the responsibility was shifted onto me as the customer. Customer service, organization, and communication need significant improvement. Families coming in for care should not feel rushed, overlooked, blamed for unclear policies, or left confused about important insurance and eyewear coverage details. read more

Worst eyeglass place ever. They were extremely expensive not completely correct and broke quickly. They offered no help since I didn't purchase their hundred dollar a month eyeglass plan. I had to go somewhere else to have the lenses put in another frame. I highly recommend everybody stay away from this place in Delray Beach. read more

In the name of all that's holy, do NOT go here. I went for a contact fitting, didn't hear back for 2 weeks, called and they said the trial pair (a brand I've worn for years) is on back order, and the manager will call me when they come in... but she won't be back in for ANOTHER week. I asked if they'd prescribe a different brand, or just give me the prescription so I can order them myself since I've worn these for years... nope, not going to do anything to accomodate me. Got to wait for the manager to come back in next week. So I'm without clean contacts (I've got no glasses) for a minimum of 3-4 weeks because of their incompetence. Trust the other bad reviews here. I think they went out of business, but they were horrible anyway. Ive been calling, no one answers and no call backs. Its been 3 weeks since they ordered my glasses and thats another reason they are out of business. It shouldn't take that long. The woman at the front desk always looks miserable. That's just for starters. I came to pick up my glasses and she said I had to wait . So 20 minutes later I went back up to her again and she said she was planning on getting them for me. I asked if I needed to sit with the technician to make sure they're adjusted correctly? And she said no you don't have to. If they're fine you could just leave. I've never purchased glasses where I don't sit with the technician afterwards. called earlier on the phone to see if I needed an appointment and she said no. I took that for meaning I would be able to walk in and get my glasses and pretty much leave. When I got there, I asked how long a wait it will be and she kind of shrugged her shoulders. And again when I went back 20 minutes, she told me there were three people in front of me. On the phone she could've told me they're busy or when I checked in the first time, she could've told me there are three people ahead of me. And she could've gotten my glasses for me right away instead of making me wait for 20 minutes . I absolutely do not recommend this place. They're totally disorganized. Too crowded. Absolutely one of the worst eye centers in Florida AVOID AT ALL COSTS From rude staff, incompetent Dr, and low quality frames you are better off going to a LensCrafters than this place. The attitude they have permeates throughout the entire staff and they do not care if you walk out. It's a shame they have the ability to make money with how poor the service is there. read more

Very poor customer service. I made an appointment weeks in advance only to be told upon arrival that there was no doctor because of the jewish holiday. There was no phone call made to advise me or reschedule. I am a working professional and making the time to go to a doctor is difficult enough as it is. No stars. Horrible place, rude staff and manager. Do not go here. Dr. Z is nice but overall the staff and manager, just the worst. After an exam for contacts I waited a week for trials lenses. When I asked the women at the desk if my trials came in she said it's not time yet. Meanwhile, I overheard people in the office saying they are waiting for 2-3 weeks and still haven't gotten there trial. I asked if I can just have my prescription and was told no. I asked if they would over night them and I would pay for shipping, and they said no. I said I would have my lawyer fax over a waiver releasing the doctor of any libility and was told by the manager that they will not except anything from a lawyer. REALLY!!! What I believe is they want to hold on to your script for as long as possible so that you buy contacts from them, they do not want to give up that script. Unreal! read more

The South Florida Vision Center in Delray Beach has sent me 4 emails to call for an appointment, I called them back 4 times and left them a message to call me to make an appointment. To date the office has not called me back for an appointment, Dr. Russel Raye is a good optometrist and I really need my eyes checked by him it's been over 2 years. Unfortunately, he needs to get people in the office that returns calls, I will not accept anymore emails from this office, in order for the poor office help Dr. Russel Raye has it seems that I will never be able to get an appointment to see him. If the office does not call me back to schedule an appointment by the end of June it looks like I will have to find another Optometrist to check my vision. The doctor and staff are wonderful but there is only 1 person to help selecting and ordering new glasses. One patient wanted 3 pairs so even though my appointment was at 1:30pm and I did get to see the eye doctor then I had to wait over 2 hours to pick my glasses and place my order. in response to other reviews, yes, it's a little old school in the decor department but my eye exam and experience was great. I had very expensive glasses made based on their perfect prescription, I was able to adapt to a Progressive lens within a matter of hours which never happened before. A year later, i lost those glasses and on the recommendation of the eyeglass store I went to the Boca optometrist they suggested so they could make a new pair -- A doc with all the latest equipment and fancy office. despite this, the new prescription didn't work after replacing the lens and getting reexamined twice (the third change I have to pay for the replaced lenses). I'm going back to South Florida vision for an updated prescription. I highly recommend them. read more

Worst experience ever!! Ordered my reading glasses February 19 today is April 1st and still do not have them I came in twice this week and was told to sit and wait! Waited the first time 45 minutes to find out I would have them Tuesday this coming Tuesday and Wednesday I called snd the girl that answered the phone said next Tuesday now! DO NOT GO HERE!!! The worst, least helpful, unknowledgeable staff. DIRTY! Old, OUTDATED EQUIPMENT. One doctor that talks forever, and doesn't listen to anything you say. Tiny waiting room with 2 year old magazines. Guy gave me 3 separate prescriptions within a year. Recommended eye drops and when I read the box at the store he clearly just recited the facts verbatim with no further explanation. I got an appointment. Covid maintained. Clean and up-to date equipment. Dr. was caring,competent and put me at ease. Thorough exam including dilated my request. Purchased glasses. Nice selection and give a lot of help choosing the right pair. Very satisfied. read more

I went for an eye exam and saw Dr. Z. He gave me an examination I needed for my driver's license renewal. The exam was good, except he forgot to give me a script for eye drops which he said he would. When I went to get glasses they said they couldn't make them for me because of my insurance. I said I will pay, the girl said I can't make you glasses, She said I will keep the slip for you driver's renewal, once you get glasses made come back let me check them and I will sign off on the paper. I did go someplace else they made the glasses went back to South Florida for the paper for the drivers license, the girl that told me to come back was not there. The girls at the desk said the needs to be signed where you got the glasses.The place is a total nightmare, I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy.I could write a book about the experience I had with running back and forth. read more

My primary care referral desk would only permit me to see South Florida Vision. My appointment was with Dr. Z as I saw his rave reviews on Yelp. Well, I was called into the examining room and was "greeted" by a not-too-friendly doctor who gave me a so-so exam. When I left, I asked at reception if that was Dr. Z. They said, "No, it was Dr. R. Dr. Z isn't in today,. He is at another office." You'd think they would have told me this before the exam. Very disappointed and I left the office not even knowing if I needed a new script! The place is a rip off. Last time I was here they tried to push a pair of $200 reading glasses on me that I could purchase at Walgreens for $19 even though I had insurance. I was at the Margate facility for 4 hours. They gave me transitions lenses which I don't like. All I wanted was glasses for distance when driving. These glasses don't help much at all. The girls that answer the phone are rude. Hopefully next visit I can go elsewhere. read more

Since two appointments were made we were seen together which was awesome. Highly recommend this business. Had to get new prescription and frames and the frames were reasonably priced. I needed to find an optician that accepted Humana, and there are very few around the Delray area. I read all the previous reviews on SFV and was very reluctant to go there, but went anyway. What a great experience I had there, all the staff were very polite and friendly, Dr Z was very thorough and nice and Kevin the office manager was a delight to deal with. I don't understand why there are so many negative people in this world! read more

The person, Optician (named Marney) that is supposed to take your glasses order is Totally Unbelievably Beyond Overbearing. She will flat out tell you 'She' doesn't like certain glasses even if you like them yourself, and not in a friendly kind of way- Demandingly as if she is the one that is going to actually pay for them for you. I wouldn't even give this place one star but i had to. Other people in the waiting room were complaining about their experiences and saying if insurance didn't help pay there is no way in heck they would go there. This place is Dreadful. I wouldn't recommend to my enemy. And apparently they are open on saturdays but asked one customer to lower his voice because she (front desk) didn't want other customers to overhear. TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SENIOR CITIZENS - AVOID ! AVOID! - my 84 year old mother with Alzheimers had her vision exam and purchased her glasses through this company. Within about a month she lost her glasses. I went into the store to get the RX and PD so I could order some cheap glasses online. They refused to give me her PD unless I paid them $40 even though they just fitted her and had this info. I walked in Walmart and they gave me her PD for free but said they would normally charge $7.50. read more

Everything about this place is horrible (Delray Beach office). The prescription I was given didn't work, so they used an old one from another doctor. They lied to me about what my insurance covered and then tried very hard (upselling) to get me to spend a lot more money than was needed. After that failed, the glasses broke on the first day and they wouldn't take them back. I needed to make two trips just to return the glasses. All that time wasted, 6 long visits to the office, and now I don't have a working prescription or glasses. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. They seem to be preying on the elderly as well. If I could do NO stars, I would. This is the MOST irritating experience I have ever had. Calling them, your on hold for 10 or more minutes. Going in and waiting to be seen is another hassle. When you do finally see the Dr., he is unfriendly and seems bothered to be there. The guy that does the glasses, after your exam, will lie about what your insurance covers so that you will end up paying the most money. He also tries to up sell you more and more additives for your glasses, even when my glasses are only used for a backup pair since I primarily use contacts. I hope this place goes out of business so no one else will have to deal with their unprofessional staff. Also when I told them to please fax over my prescription to Costco because their contacts are way cheaper and Ive been going to them for years, they made me call Costco and tell the optometrist at Costco to call THEM to ask for the prescription! As a professional in a customer service business I have to commend Kevin and his staff for their exceptional service. I am a new eyeglass wearer and the staff was very helpful helping me choose the right frame shape and style for my face. I was prescribed progressive lenses and I was a bit skeptical after hearing from friends how hard progressive lenses are to adjust too. Kevin took the time to train me on the proper use of the lenses when I returned a few days later to pick them up. Thanks to this great business I am now able to read small print such as the stock quotes in the Wall Street Journal. read more

What a pain in the butt this place was. I went here for an eye exam. Big mistake. First a big looong wait...the first part of the exam started about a full hour after my appointment time. The girl at the reception desk is friendly and nice, but also a compulsive joker who can't seem to get a grip. The person who did the preliminary part of the exam and dilated my pupils read my current glasses rx incorrectly. The main problem with this place though is the doctor, oh boy, the doctor. What a crotchety individual. He told me it would cost $20 extra to read my pd measurement, something anyone can do with a ruler. We argued about that. Then we argued about my prescription, getting my blood pressure unnecessarily worked up. I literally was shaking and had a headache after dealing with him. Bad manners, and a rather curt unpleasant demeanor. He didn't do the main glaucoma test I had specifically mentioned. I noticed it was missing on the exam printout I requested from the reception girl, while waiting afterwards to see the eyewear specialist - who incidentally ended up announcing he had a "corporate meeting" to go to at 5pm, after several of us were waiting for about a half hour. Finally I went back in to the doctor to have my glaucoma eye pressure test done correctly. I left there thinking "man, that was a truly sucky experience". Walking out with the extreme dilation of my pupils on a sunny day didn't help either. read more
