The food is very good. You have to be very patient. We waited over an hour for our order. I would not arrive to this place hungry. Just order some fries and don't expect a full meal. Great food truck parked at the back of a bar! Every bite was delicious! Fish and chips were great. Fish tacos came with a nice slaw. And the roasted brussels were decadent! Nice to be able to order a beer on tap from the bar and grab some food from the food truck that can be enjoyed in the same place. My son showed up and ordered a burger, waited a good 45 minutes, when inquiring about his burger, since the people behind him got their food already the lady was rude to him. The food here is always good, if not excellent. Seriously, order anything, they're consistently good. Best fries in Humboldt, IMHO, carnivore or not, you'll find something here. Bring back the cheesesteak, the bread excuse is lame. Service is hit and miss, most of the time it's good, but there's one or two individuals that are consistently dealing with a sore tooth. What great fast service and excellent food! We have been meaning to check this place out for a while. We finally visited on a Saturday lunch visit and ordered two smash burgers and fish and chips. This was by far the best burger we have had in the county, but also the best fish and chips we have ever had. This place was delicious! My partner and I were visiting Arcata at the end of December and obviously needed to stop at some breweries, so when we wanted to find some outdoor seating for a beer and a snack, we chose redwood curtain/south g kitchen. We weren't super hungry, so we just wanted a snack. We were eying the danky bread, but they were out of it so we went to our next option, the Brussels and peanuts. I am so glad they were out of the danky bread because these were INCREDIBLE and gave us everything we wanted/needed! It was a crispy and crunch and also creamy and some spiciness and acid. We liked it so much we were wondering if we could make something similar ourselves at home. I will say as an fyi that if you have allergies to cashews and macadamia nuts, there were a few mixed in with the peanuts--I'm not sure if that's normal for them or not! We don't have food allergies so it was just a fun surprise for us! Garlic fries started off as an amazing concept and then devolved into a soggy, unenjoyable mess. South G kitchen has not only resurrected them, but has greatly improved upon the original. The fry part of this dish is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. They come out of the kitchen covered in fresh garlic strong enough to keep vampires, Sasquatch, the cartel, government entities, and your mother in law at bay for a minimum of a decade. They are generous with that and the mountain of Parmesan that expertly hides the garlic that lurks upon these beholden beauties. The black garlic aioli is so perfect with the fries with its sweet umami flavor. Dip the fry into this and then the Parmesan garlic and it makes a perfect bite. 100 million/ 10 recommend. We also ordered the South Jetty Tacos with fried rockfish. The tacos were generously sized and loaded with fresh ingredients. 10/10 recommend these as well. read more

Outside covered seating area, that is fenced off and is attached to truck so you can sit there and enjoy your meal under cover and in the fresh air. Ordered the Fish and chips, with local Rockfish and panko breaded, deep fried to a golden brown, and seasoned fries, and slaw... and that was the downside the slaw, it was bland and very large chunks? not sliced very thin at all, and actually did not taste very good in comparison to the fish and chips, unpleasant to eat - it was sadly a disappointment, it almost felt like a complete after thought on my plate. The black garlic spicy beef tacos, the order comes with two flour torillas loaded with shredded beef, red onions, garlic and a spicy crema. These are good as well, full of flavor (from my sampling) and nicely seasoned - not my choice, but if you like beef tacos these will mostly fit your bill. My husband and I have very different cravings and palettes and so South G's offerings were a surprising find - they offer a range of typical brewery food, Asian-fusion items, and even vegan options. So it's great if you're going for either a healthy or not-so-healthy meal. What we got: - Black garlic truffle fries: Definitely a great portion size compared to what we were expecting. Unfortunately we were unable to finish them. The garlic was just way too overwhelming for us. Not being able to finish fries is a VERY rare circumstance for us. - Pad Thai tacos: HAD to get this simply because I hadn't seen such a thing before. I thought the shrimp was cooked really well and the spicy sauce was tasty. However, I actually don't think it really reminded me of Pad Thai (which is obviously what I was hoping for). I think what would make this really good is if they actually did incorporate cooked Pad Thai noodles in the tacos. I'm salivating just thinking about it. - Burger: My husband enjoyed this! South G kitchen is a cool spot in the south of G street in Arcata California. I hesitate to say it's a food truck even though it is because it's permanently parked at the redwood curtain brewery. So you have access to amenities like tables to eat at and bathrooms. The beer at the brewery is not bad and the bartenders are super welcoming. The location is slightly unfortunate but the parking is great and the food is worth it. It's a good jump off point if you are heading south. The elevated Californian bar food is really the thing you are here for. There are some healthy options and the food is outstandingly delicious! The black garlic aioli is a delicacy on its own honestly. Yes, great burgers and especially fries but also salads and fun bowls. I've obviously been here many times. Tonight I had the grilled fish Katsu sandwich and the Parmesan Black Garlic Fries. The fries have this extra crunchy quality and they are correctly crisp. The pickled daikon and sesame slaw on the sandwich was fresh, touchingly acidic, and added a nice crunch to the sandwich. I liked the spicy mayo but wondered if I wanted more black garlic aioli. The bun isn't overly remarkable but it's a good vehicle for the properly cooked fish and previously described garnishes. I ordered online. My food was done before the estimated time. Fairly priced and high quality food. What can I say? The place hits! P.S When I realized I forgot to take a picture it was too late and nothing looked as pretty as it did when I got it. This is the food truck attached to Redwood Curtain brewing company. I have recently had two excellent meals there. The Smashburger is the best burger in town hands-down! The black garlic beef tacos are out of this world! Just the right amount of sauce and pickled onions and so much flavor packed in each bite. I really like their fries too. They are better than loco Fish Co. Fries, that used to be my favorite. The fish sando is also a good choice. Fresh fish, topped with delicious sauce between a delicious bun, yum! I really wanted to love the kale Caesar. It's not the best I've had, and I'll keep ordering it in hopes it improves. If you want quality pub food with your favorite local beer this is the place for you! If you are rolling through town and want a great place to stop for lunch or dinner this is a good spot.
