Tons of parking, spaces are easy to get in and out of...and the best part? Red lights over the occupied spaces, green lights above the available spaces. Price: FREE

PROS - Lights to show which spots are open - Free if less than 3 hours - Accepts AMEX - Can pay with CARD at exit - 5 Floors and Valet option CONS - Charges for Parking - No pay center by the stairwell entrance(s) - Lights don't work if the car is parked like a jerk (aka too far to the left or right to avoid cars next to it) My favorite parking garage in Walnut Creek! Located right next to Crate&Barrel and Stanfords is the South Main Parking Structure.. or Broadway Plaza? According to the Yelp location it's the first but according to their pay booth it's the latter. Anyways.. They now CHARGE FOR PARKING, but here is their current pricing as of this review: 0-3 FREE 3-4 $5.00 4-5 $7.00 5+ $25.00 Max Daily $25.00 Lost Ticket $25.00 And with that fee, you now get the lights above each parking spot (which are ALMOST foolproof) to let you know which ones are open and which ones aren't. I just realized, I don't know if the fifth floor has those lights... Oh, I don't know if it's just my car, but sometimes the turns in that garage make my tires squeal. Heads up, if you are coming back with your purchased goodies through the stairwell behind Crate and Barrel, there's no pay station so be ready to either: pay by card at the exit or find the pay station near the elevator. Catch me in this garage when I'm in Downtown Walnut Creek!

Do NOT park here if you are going to stay one minute past 5 hours. We spent 5 1/2 hours shopping and eating, not realizing that if hit the 5-hr mark, you pay $25, as though you had lost your ticket! 4 hours would have been $7, but 5 hours put us up to $25!!!!!!!!!! I would think that the Broadway Plaza merchants would want to do something about this. Wouldn't you rather have your customers stay longer, perhaps eat both lunch and dinner in the area, and spend more money? Talk about a rude awakening! Judging by other Yelp! reviews, we were not the only ones to be caught off guard. I honestly don't know if prices were posted on the machine where we pulled our ticket. We were too busy trying to grab the ticket and move forward with the long line of cars behind us. If the sign was there, it was not obvious. I am always very aware of prices when I enter garages, as signs are usually posted quite prominently. We were completely shocked when we returned, and our ticket indicated the $25 charge. At that point we looked around, and, belatedly, found the sign near the pay station. If the garage is worried about employees parking in the garage, then perhaps they should institute a validation system.

More parking spots, and the ceiling lights to let you know if the spot is open (green light) or spot is (taken) which reduces your time of finding parking! Paid parking though but I don't stay there long.

While there's no longer music that plays in the morning and the main street is now closed to…read moretraffic, Broadway Plaza is still one of my favorite places to be in Walnut Creek. There's a good mix of restaurants, clothing, and jewelry shops, most of which are high quality brands and the mall constantly stays fresh and vibrant although I do wish they had more restrooms outside of the ones below Industrious. Some weekends they have a maker fare or live music, but most of the time the fountain is just central to the comfortable seating area, that during the winter gets some decor for the holidays. All in all, I really do love this area and still find myself coming back year after year.

This review is ONLY about the changes to the way you pay for parking…read more The new parking app makes me never want to shop at Broadway Plaza ever again, and I've been shopping there since I was a girl in the 80s. There was a period of time when I probably shopped at Broadway Plaza 1-2 times PER MONTH (now I'm stuck paying off my credit cards but that's my own fault and a separate issue). What was wrong with the old system? It worked just fine. But now you have to download an app to get out of the parking garage, EVEN IF you were there for less than the three hours of courtesy parking. It's absolutely insane. And even worse, there's NO cell reception in the garage (at least with AT&T) so you can't download the app without returning to the open air mall. Maybe that's why they changed things up? So that for people who haven't been to Broadway Plaza since before the app was rolled out, they might be able to charge for more time? It's unbelievable. And... you have to enter a bunch of personal information. Why do I need to download an app to pay for parking after I've already shopped at the mall, potentially pushing one of the tenants over their percentage rent breakpoint? It's outrageous. I don't mind having the ParkMobile app for parking because it allows me to park on many different cities' streets with little to no hassle. So I'm not anti-parking app. I am anti-Metropolis parking app. At least before, you got a time-stamped ticket so you knew exactly when to leave if you wanted to avoid paying. Now you have to remember to check the precise time you entered the garage, assuming it's even time-stamping accurately. And how do you know precisely where it time-stamps you? Macerich, do better. Relegate this parking situation to the annals of retail hell. Thank you for your consideration. [curtsy]
