Broadway Plaza was our first stop after landing at SFO & picking up our rental car! We had a wedding to attend later that day and needed to pick up some goodies that I forgot to pack LOL. It's a very nice outdoor shopping mall in Walnut Creek, with around 80 shops. We arrived at opening hours for stores so it was pretty quiet when we visited. Easy to navigate and they have free parking, up to 3hrs! They have a lot of popular stores (Zara, Macy's, Nordstrom, etc). Overall, had a pleasant experience here and we were in and out ;))

Great shopping area with free parking for up to 2 hours! Who can't resist? They have all the major department stores here, plus the boutique stores. It's safe and clean here. Love the free parking! Great place to shop!!

Outdoor shopping mall [Walnut Creek CA] After lunch at Gott's Roadside in Walnut Creek we walked across the way to the Broadway Plaza, an open air shopping center in the East Bay... it was Mother's Day and a lot of people were out and about taking advantage of the beautiful Sunday weather. It's an outdoor plaza and I'm sure it wouldn't be as pleasant on a rainy day or in the height of summer. It got pretty warm as the afternoon progressed. There were lots of stores including luxury hoity-toity brand retailers and a health club, also restaurants and coffee shops. The exterior is very pretty and one thing we noticed that was different from other shopping places I've been to were the public piano's strategically placed about the shopping center. Also pleasant to see were sculptures, beautiful topiaries and European-style fountains. Street parking and there is also a parking garage available. This was my first time here and I loved the urban feel in suburban Walnut Creek. Review #3437

This shopping plaza was built in beautiful outdoor and indoor architecture tons of choices when it comes to shopping Pet friendly and family friendly compared to other outdoor places in alameda and santa clara county highly recommend this shopping center for everyone who visits Walnut Creek!

A very nice outdoor shopping mall in downtown Walnut Creek!! The day I came here, there were all kinds of booths set up outside, a few with the future of electric cars. I actually spent more time there than in any of the stores. But, there are lots of high end stores, lots of restaurants, and lots of activity here. There's a really nice water fountain where people take a break at, with benches surrounding it. I'm not really a shopper, but there's plenty to do in this whole area besides that, this is a very lively plaza, especially on sunny weekends!!

    Oh, Christmas treeeee!

I absolutely adore Broadway Plaza! Anytime that I'm in the mood to go shopping in Walnut Creek, I usually stop by Broadway Plaza first. They're known for their higher end stores, but you can find some great deals here. I'd say that my most frequented stores here are Macy's, Sephora, and Victoria's Secret. However, you might find in the Apple, Nordstroms, and See's Candies stores a few times a year if you're lucky. I definitely don't shop as much in the stores as I used to (or in stores much in general because of COVID times). But when I get the urge, Broadway Plaza is the perfect place for some retail therapy. Sometimes, I don't even come here to shop. I come here to EAT, baby!!! There are lots of good restaurants and eateries here too. I really love what they did with this place after the remodel some years ago. Parking is always pretty easy and they have several rest benches and tables out to relax and chill in the plaza. My favorite time to come here are during the holidays! They always have it decorated up so nicely and they usually have the best deals and activities going on. The plaza is always bustling on the weekends, but I've realized that most of my trips here has been during the weekdays afterwork when it's not too crazy. It's funny because I feel like I often take Broadway Plaza for granted when so many people come from outside of CoCo county just to shop and eat here. It's a great local destination for shopping and exploring. I was really shocked to hear about the mob that took place here a few months ago, but it seems like the plaza is recovering just fine. Happy that many of the businesses are still thriving and also glad that I have this great shopping plaza so close by.

Very quite for a holiday season weekday. Ever since the 80+ looters stormed Nordstrom last Month, there are large barriers preventing traffic from driving down by the stores in the plaza, but this makes foot traffic and shoppers have more room to walk and spread out during busy hours. Plaza itself: Lots of trendy shops that you expect to see in an upscale outdoor mall. Lululemon, Apple, Banana Republic, Macys, Nordstrom, Allen Edmonds, bath and body works, the usual. A nice selection of stores to fit everyones needs. Parking: Large parking structures both in front and behind the plaza center. Free parking in those structures if less than 3 hours. So be aware of time spent if eating out and shopping. Overall: A typical outdoor mall with the usual anchor stores Macy's and Nordstrom, but really not much else.

Ask the Community - Broadway Plaza

    Is there free parking?

Yes there is a garage with 3 hours of free parking. Anything longer than that you pay an hourly rate (although I'm not sure what that is.) You can access the garage by going south on Broadway and you'll see the entrance to the garage (well signed)

I don' t know if this mall is ever packed and it's not totally the mall's fault - buying stuff on line has really killed the brick-and-mortal stores in general and I get it. But holy smokes, the stores here - it's multiple variations of the same crap stores. Who buys this stuff? There are some stores that I absolutely cannot believe make enough money to stay open. They have to pay rent and employee salaries and make some sort of profit and you wonder how it's possible. If you go here and look around, you'll know what stores I'm talking about. I was walking around here yesterday was just amazed at the absolute garbage stores. One "kitsch" store (and there are many) proudly displayed some poster about "stupid people" by its entrance that you could buy - for people to buy to make fun of stupid people - yet literally the only people who would buy this are the people it makes fun of. And you can't walk into these stores because the second you do the employee is on you. Like Blockbuster where every employee had to greet you and see if you need anything. I just want to look around without being bothered but it's not possible in these stores. They have so little people in them, when an employee does get someone they hover. You do still have some good stores - Macys of course, an old standby with good stuff - you can't go wrong with a Macys. Even JC Penneys is still here (I didn't even know they were still around). The Sears finally went out and to no one's surprise, they couldn't care less about that store for years now. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. And the clientele walking around. You have your people of all ages and races which you want to see. California is represented well at this mall and I like that. And of course your thugs always wasting time walking around - disturbs me seeing these guys. I guess the mall can't do anything about them but yeah, they're here. On the plus side, the mall is super clean. I'd like to hope that this mall, one of the malls I've been to for decades will still be around for a long time but honestly, if this thing still exists in three years I'd be shocked.

Cars circling incessantly looking for that elusive space. Some drivers obviously getting impatient based on their rapid acceleration and sudden braking whenever it appeared that someone was approaching their vehicle or stepped on their brake pedal. From what little we observed, there is a very good mix of business present which is great to see. So many other destination shopping areas are suffering vacancies and closed businesses. I imagine that parking is not such a mess during the day or perhaps on weeknights and yes, this was the day after New Years so more people were probably out and about. Still, had I really understood what the parking situation was like, I would have made reservations for another night. And it wasn't any better when we left at 7pm either.

There's plenty of places to shop and plenty of places to eat and probably fits with budgets of all different sizes. During this time of year (November), there's also an ice rink that lots of people seem to enjoy. Some family wanted to go to Sephora and man it was packed! Which is not surprising, since we were there on the busy shopping day of the year. I got to do some other browsing at J Crew. It was a short trip overall, but I can easily see people spending hours here if they needed to do some serious shopping. Came here with family because they wanted to do some shopping on Black Friday. It was really hectic as you would expect. The parking situation was pretty crazy and it took a while of driving around and luck to get a parking spot.

Although Blackhawk Plaza is technically an outdoor luxury mall, I consider it more like an entertainment center that is designed to relax and de-stress. I've been coming here regularly after moving here some 7 years ago and as a new parent, looking forward to coming back. I never come here to shop, since the small boutique shops are not for me. Restaurants are okay for the most part, but you're paying more for the location. The entertainment options are great: 1. Century Blackhawk, at least pre COVID, is an older but great theater where all seats are luxury recliners. 4. Gigantic parking lot. 5. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with Creamistry for hot days and Starbucks for any days. For casual eats, I like Beep's Burgers. 6. A playground for kids and grassy areas. 7. A Crunch! gym and a new martial arts studio coming soon. For COVID times, they offer outdoor Zumba on Sundays. 8. These used to have outdoor concerts here Pre-Covid.
