My child's dermatology appointment with Rebecca Sklar lasted less than two minutes before an immediate diagnosis was made. When new spots appeared the next day, we were simply told to continue the medication without another examination. Days later, after the rash continued to spread, we sought a second opinion from a pediatric dermatologist. That doctor took the time to perform a thorough examination, examine skin samples under a microscope, and diagnosed an entirely different condition. The result was six days of treating the wrong illness while it continued to worsen. I understand that doctors aren't perfect and diagnoses can change. What disappointed me wasn't just the incorrect diagnosis--it was how rushed the appointment felt and how little time was spent actually examining my child. Patients deserve to be heard, carefully evaluated, and treated as individuals rather than being rushed through an appointment. I hope this serves as a reminder that taking a few extra minutes with a patient can make all the difference read more

He rushed through my appointment, cut me off multiple times, made jokes in poor taste, and left so quickly that I did not have a chance to ask him about some of my concerns. I called the office YESTERDAY after a horrid experience with an awful dematologist elsewhere. I was given an appointment for the next day when I explained I was in pain due to a cyst. I saw Rebecca Sklar, PA-C. She could not have been nicer or more competent. Likewise the assistant. I was treated perfectly and completely. Dr. Abitol continues to be friendly and efficient. She flies in and out. I go once a year for annual check up and juvaderm for lips. Her assistants/nurses are kind. It is important to not internalize the rushed feeling and to answer honestly if you have any concerns . I went in with concerns about throat rash and underchest rash but i got refills on prescriptions before the check up so i didnt bring it up. I was taken on time as usual and out within 20 min. Checking out and paying is easy. It remains worth it to me to continue to visit with the Dr. Despite it taking me over an hour to drive there. I recommend her for the quality and level of care given. This is the sad and tragic story of a 15 -year -plus decline. This was once one of the greatest most efficient and effective medical practices on Long Island. And instead, I leave this practice after experience in a steady decline and quality and service after a TWO AND A HALF HOUR wait full of lies. even worse, even after making me wait for that long, and I left as I had another major engagement , they refuse to refill my prescriptions. Received a phone call today 40 minutes before my appointment time saying Dr. Fiet was running ahead of time if we wanted to come in. Ok so rush in with my kids and get to wait in to room for 30 minutes. For the Dr to take all of 3 minutes and I think I blinked and he ran out the door. I wasn't finished asking questions. The assistant torn the paper wear my kid was sitting before he could even get his shoe back on. Dr.Feit is caring and compassionate. Dr. Feit was the third dermatologist I had gone to , as the prior ones could not figure out what I had. Starting from my first appt he thoroughly explained his plan of treatment and what courses of medication he'd prescribe. Dr. Feit took the time to explain all the possibilities and answered my questions. I am so happy as I am now free of a terrible rash I had for almost 1 year. truly abysmal customer service. I go here SOLELY because Dr. Weinstein is the best and helped diagnose me with something serious, but their reception staff couldn't be ruder or nastier. Dr Russel Cohen has ALWAYS been nothing but great to us over the years. He is personable and professional at the same time. His office has helped me receive treatments through insurance for hyperhidrosis that I used to pay out of pocket for. Dr. Cohen is the kind of doctor that should train other doctors. Oh my God, the WORSTTTTTTTT dermatology office EVER. I tried to suck up and deal before I did the research and found a better, punctual, more professional office but I literally waited 2 hours before being seen - on more than one occasion. Clearly, I'm the fool for going back but I thought that maybe it was a one time occasion. Once I got in the room, the dermatologists were dismissive and literally prescribed me the same thing I said didn't work. To make matters better, I got written up at work because I scheduled to take 1.5 hours off that day, since I was assured that the visit (including wait time) would take no more than 45 minutes. I will NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR set foot in that horrible office again. Oh and that parking SUCKS! read more

I made my appointment 3 weeks in advance and although I hated to wait this long, I was really looking forward to a solution for my skin issues because this derm had great reviews online. However, the consultation felt really rushed. If I didnt do most of the asking and talking( which should really be the other way around) this couldve lasted less than 5 mins!! It was up to me to decide what I felt comfortable doing but that's not what I wanted at all! I wanted THEM to do the asking and talking and conclude what's best. NOT just walk in, take a quick look, and tell me what to take in 30 seconds. I went in to the Long Beach office to get a check up. Dr Elie Lowenstein took 3 biopsies and said they would advise the results in 7-10 days. It is now over a month later and I STILL haven't heard back from them. I have called a total of four times; twice left a voice mail and twice talked to the office receptionist who twice assured me that she would advise the doctor to get back to me. In all my years dealing with doctors and dentists I have never seen such unprofessional behavior. Needless to say I won't be going back and advise others not to go here either. After struggling with acne for a few months I decided to go see a dermatologist. I was recommended to see Dr. Silverman at South Nassau Dermatology - trusting this person's advice I made an appt. They said they couldn't see me for over a month. Nonetheless, I made the appt and sucked it up with bad skin the weeks prior to this appt. First off, terrible parking along Hempstead turnpike. Now, I understand its a busy street and not much parking for the other businesses as well but this was terrible parking for such a huge office building. Second, after finally finding street parking I was greeted by a very nice front desk assistant (the best part of the appt) She politely took my paperwork and asked me to sit (showed me where the magazines were etc.. I should have known I would be waiting for a while when she showed me the magazines.) Almost a half hour of waiting and I was finally called in to see the Dr. I spoke with one nurse/assistant (her position wasn't clear) she didn't seem to care about what I had to say but wrote down a few things on an index card. After she left I waited another 5-10 minutes for the Dr. He came in and did not initially introduce himself which I found odd.. only after he asked me to take seat on the exam bed did he mention his name. He didn't even take a look at my skin and spoke to the ground the whole time. He mentioned a few fancy names for acne and said I should get a topical prescription lotion/gel and an antibiotic. He had a second nurse/assistant write everything down and then passed me off to her. As for the topical prescription gel I asked if it would help my skin (being he barely looked at my face I found his response comical) he said it works for 98% of people - that's great but will it work for me - both his and the nurse's response - "yeah, people like it". He bowed out and told me to make an appointment for 3 months to see how my skin was coming along - I could have told him today that my skin would be fabulous because I would be seeing a different Dr. A Dr that actually LOOKED at my face and skin to analyze what was going on. Safe to say, I told them NOT to put my prescription through and did not buy "their" lotion - because I felt I can't trust someone who I just paid to analyze my skin and he DIDNT EVEN LOOK AT MY FACE, not even while talking to me. I will NOT be going back there or recommending this office to anyone. read more

Great group of doctors, however the wait time is just unacceptable! I say for 45 minutes waiting to get my allergy shots. When I asked the receptionist how long the doctor was running late her response was,"You think this bad, it's usually worse!" The wait time at this dermatology office is unreasonable. The current pandemic made the situation worse because the wait time is the same but the chairs in the waiting room are blocked off. So now you still wait over an hour to be called in but you can't sit down. They should probably start taking temperatures before you enter the waiting room. Taking someone's temperature after they have been standing in the crowded waiting room for an hour seems to be a little backward. It's definitely time for a new dermatologist. read more

Story time. I called to make an appointment because I ran out of my prescription. The lady on the phone told me the doctor would be back in on the 6th and then suddenly told me she could squeeze me in on the 4th. She gave me very confusing information and then HUNG UP on me. This made me very angry, however I was glad I at least had an appointment. Or so I thought! I was supposed to come in this morning, but I called beforehand to confirm since the whole thing seemed sketchy. I'm pretty sure the same woman picked up the phone and she told me I did NOT have an appointment. Although I like my doctor, I may have to switch offices due to this experience. read more

I would give Dr. Russell Cohen 3 stars but the front desk zip! O! Nothing!!! After reading all the other reviews I am not alone in stating that I have never been in the unfortunate precense of such rude, stupid, and nasty front desk people. i won't even give the title of receptonist to them they don't deserve it! It's a shame because I went for a Surgical procedure for some sun damage on my face which my insurance covered. I then wanted to do some cosmetic work which is out of pocket but I didn't care. Dr Cohen was wonderful and after paying alot of money I was satisfied and decided to have addtional work done on my face. The first appointment I waited 30 minutes and then was seen. The second appointment I waited 45 minutes after my schedule time and then was put in a room only after I complained and after 30 minutes in the room finally went out to the front area and asked if the doctor went home! They said he was backed up so I said I'm leavin if I don't get to see him now. He came in and apologized. Now I go back on Tuesday last night for followup and checked in 10 minutes before my appointment for god forbid you get there late because then the girls give you an attitude. I waited a half hour after my time and by then everyone was complaining and walking out. I went up to say that if I wasn't taken soon I would leave and the b---h told me you only waited a half hour! an appt was made for my husband to get a specific spot checked, in addition to a full body check. he said they were nice enough, but felt rushed. NO BODY CHECK WAS EVER DONE, & because my husband didn't know what to expect, he came home a little confused. yes, they removed the spot & sent it out for biopsy, but because a full check wasn't done, he discovered another suspicious irregular spot & i made him an appt with island dermatology in long beach. if the full body check was done, he wouldn't have had to go elsewhere. that's what you get when you book appts EVERY TEN MINUTES. disgraceful. Large office, next to impossible to get appointments within the same week (or month), they love to flip you back and forth between all the doctors, and almost all of them are rude and fast-talking, waiting to simply write a prescription and leave (with the exception of the fantastic and polite Dr. Tara Kaufmann. She earns this place two out of the three stars above). The receptionists can be rude or very nice, depending on the day. Overall, it's above satisfactory for anything you would need them for in the first place, and the facility is extremely clean. Grudgingly recommended. read more
