Stoped in for lunch and ordered a Turkey sub. I really liked the turkey and the provolone cheese. The roll was also good.

Solid choice for a cheesesteak, but not my favorite in town. Based on the price for adding fries and a drink a good value, not great. The place looks a bit run down and parking in the back lot is tight. No tables, strictly take out. Terrible menu board and no mention of specials or adding on a drink and fry (or other side) for an up charge. Not user friendly at all and having to ask them to explain how to spend more money seems counter-productive, but what do I know? The largest margin is on the fountain soda, so why not push it? The owners are rich enough and don't care if the customer asks about a drink? I might be back, but if never make a special trip here. Better quality and value elsewhere.

The cheese steak was good a little bit to much pepper seasoning but it good for two people worth the drive

Italian Special, super fresh and stacked

Always very fresh food and staff is great! My favorite is the Italian Hoagies, Thinly sliced meats and fresh veggies make it super tasty.

California Cheesesteak

This California Cheesesteak is one of the best things I've eaten in a year easily. Huge portion and soooo good!

South Philly never disappoints... the food is always made how I like it (made to order) and the service is just right ... they ask you how you want your food cooked, what extras you want and they clarify how it is normally made. This is important in understanding what you order. in a world where everything including food cost more, they give you your money's worth. There's so much chicken, I could make another sandwich with the amount they gave.

Yummy

The worker was kind and polite. Their food is good, the fries and the cheesesteak was yummy.

So speedy and delicious! We pulled off the highway to avoid some terrible weather and we were not disappointed. Amazing food and staff.

The subs never disappoint. I love that the meat is shaved thin and they use the shredded lettuce. Also never a long wait for the food!

We finally got to try The Cheesesteak Guy the other day & it was pretty good…read more The employee was very friendly & explained everything for us & we both did build your own cheesesteaks. They really STUFF these guys full which is nice. My boyfriend really enjoyed his. Mine was super greasy so I had to dab that off as best I could. It was good but it didn't really hit the spot for me. My quest for the cheesesteaks continues.

We stopped by The Cheesesteak Guy on a Friday night about an hour before closing. There were a few…read morepeople there when we arrived, and more filtered in as the evening went on--always a good sign. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe Cheesesteak for $16, while my dining companion went with a traditional Cooper cheesesteak with onions and peppers on a non-seeded roll ($15), plus an order of tater tots ($5). We both grabbed sodas for $3 each, and our grand total--including tip--was just over $50. The traditional Cooper cheesesteak, tots, and sodas were pretty run-of-the-mill--solid, satisfying, and exactly what you'd expect. But the Cacio e Pepe Cheesesteak? That deserves special attention. The Cheesesteak Guy raves about this sandwich on Facebook, describing it as a fusion of the classic Philly cheesesteak and the Roman pasta dish Cacio e Pepe--and for once, the hype is fully justified. Thinly sliced ribeye topped with melted Pecorino Romano and a generous amount of freshly cracked black pepper, all on a perfectly seeded roll. It was rich, indulgent, and gloriously peppery in the best way. Plenty of Pecorino (which is currently my favorite cheese), bold flavor, and a roll that held everything together beautifully. Truly perfection in a bun--tender, savory, and downright unforgettable. My only suggestion? A little more consistency in the meat prep. Some chunks of ribeye inside my sandwich were quite large and seemed to miss the slice-and-dice phase. Still delicious, but smaller, evenly chopped pieces would make it easier to eat and even better overall. That said, I'll absolutely be back--Patty Melt and Greek Burger are already on my list. Bonus points for plentiful free parking since it's located in a strip mall. One tip if you're going at night: pay close attention, because the sign isn't lit and can be easy to miss in the dark. If you're craving a cheesesteak with a creative twist, don't sleep on the Cacio e Pepe. It's something special.

By far the best cheese steak we have ever eaten. We are from the Baltimore area and have had…read morehundreds of cheese steaks before. Some were great, some good and others should have never been called cheese steak subs. We moved to PA a few years back and have explored our community for the best places to eat. It was one day about 3 months ago, my wife and me had a hankering for a really good cheese steak sub. We punched in the request in our GPS and several places displayed upon the screen. After a quick check on reviews of the various locations, we settled on South Philly Hogies. Although the trip was 18 minutes away at 23 miles, off we went to try this establishment. We both ordered the California Cheese Steak and fries. We drove home and I can tell you by far this was the best Cheese Steak we had ever eaten. The bread it is served on is so soft and fresh and they have no issues with making it your way. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention that the staff are always nice and friendly. The quality and quantity that you get with your order almost seems impossible these days. We were so pleased that every time a family visits us here in PA, South Philly Hogies will always get a stop from us. We enjoyed every bite and discovered that we like it so much that as soon as we receive our food, we travel to the shopping mall and eat on the lot. We never make it home now with our food. All you hear in the car is lips smacking and people saying "um, um , um" I must also report that they are truly wonderful with regard to prices. I have paid upwards of almost $30.00 for the food we ordered from other establishments and the food was not that great at all. Not wishing to see price increased at this location but I would gladly pay a little more because they are that good. Thank you guys for doing such a great job with your service and your food. We will see you again as you are now on our once every 2 week visit list. For ever! Mr. & Mrs. Green

We met Lance, who both struck up conversations with us and made us feel right at home and even offered us water while we waited. The cheesesteaks were outstanding. Huge portions with perfectly seasoned steak. The next evening we came back for dinner just after they had closed. A woman saw us outside trying to come up with a backup plan and kindly invited us in to see if they could still help. Her husband Brad invited us in as Lance remembered us from the day before and they happily made us sandwiches. They were also cleaning out the ice cream machine from the day and gave us and passerby's free shakes instead of letting them go to waste. The food was amazing, but the kindness and customer service were what really stood out. Penn Steaks is now our State College go to! Check them out!!

Super fresh rolls with the right texture that have some give, some squish, but still held up well to being stuffed with the steak, cheese, and add-ins/sauce. Also good quality ribeye steak that's well chopped. I prefer mine with provolone and sweet peppers, along with marinara on top. But honestly, these cheesesteaks are good enough with just steak and cheese. The fries here are shoestring, which is perfect if you don't want soggy fries when you let them sit. Penn Steaks uses beef tallow which gives it a bit more savory taste. I'm not really into beef tallow for frying, yet I still enjoyed then. I'd still prefer Five Guys fries over these. But don't let that stop you from trying them! And the service was fantastic. The person taking my order was polite and helpful. I even met one of the co-owners who was very friendly! A great guy to chit-chat if you like that sort of thing. I learned quite a bit from him during my visit. They sell their cheesesteaks in 6", 9", and 18". The 9" is generous and should satisfy most people. I might be able to finish an 18" if was really hungry and didn't add too much to it, but I'd be in pain afterwards! The 18" is better for sharing. I'll stop by more often for a good cheesesteak. Next time I'll get extra cheese on it. I know I'll probably be addicted to their cheesesteaks sooner or later. Edit: added photo of their cheesesteak
