We stopped by The Cheesesteak Guy on a Friday night about an hour before closing. There were a few people there when we arrived, and more filtered in as the evening went on--always a good sign. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe Cheesesteak for $16, while my dining companion went with a traditional Cooper cheesesteak with onions and peppers on a non-seeded roll ($15), plus an order of tater tots ($5). We both grabbed sodas for $3 each, and our grand total--including tip--was just over $50. The traditional Cooper cheesesteak, tots, and sodas were pretty run-of-the-mill--solid, satisfying, and exactly what you'd expect. But the Cacio e Pepe Cheesesteak? That deserves special attention. The Cheesesteak Guy raves about this sandwich on Facebook, describing it as a fusion of the classic Philly cheesesteak and the Roman pasta dish Cacio e Pepe--and for once, the hype is fully justified. Thinly sliced ribeye topped with melted Pecorino Romano and a generous amount of freshly cracked black pepper, all on a perfectly seeded roll. It was rich, indulgent, and gloriously peppery in the best way. Plenty of Pecorino (which is currently my favorite cheese), bold flavor, and a roll that held everything together beautifully. Truly perfection in a bun--tender, savory, and downright unforgettable. My only suggestion? A little more consistency in the meat prep. Some chunks of ribeye inside my sandwich were quite large and seemed to miss the slice-and-dice phase. Still delicious, but smaller, evenly chopped pieces would make it easier to eat and even better overall. That said, I'll absolutely be back--Patty Melt and Greek Burger are already on my list. Bonus points for plentiful free parking since it's located in a strip mall. One tip if you're going at night: pay close attention, because the sign isn't lit and can be easy to miss in the dark. It turns out that there is such a thing as an overstuffed cheesesteak. I got the cooper sharp with onions on a seeded roll. The roll was excellent, I wish there was actually a little less meat on the sandwich so I could get bread in every bite. Cheese was nicely distributed throughout the meat. Steak was good quality, but there were some bits of gristle mixed in. A little pricey, which I understand considering current meat prices, but I'd personally prefer a little less meat for a couple of dollars less. read more

The BLT was terrible!!! The sour dough bread had butter on it along with grease from the bacon. They don't put any mayonnaise or any sauce on it at all. Saw they just reopened on 10/17 so I stopped by for a quick cheesesteak. I thought I ordered a steak, Cooper cheese, wit (with onions) but there were none on the sandwich when it came out. Still very flavorful and the seeded roll (they ask if you want seeded or not) was great. Next time, definitely want/need the fried onions. This was my first time trying this place after hearing raving reviews from friends, so I was genuinely looking forward to it. I ordered lunch for my boss and myself -- two cheesesteaks with provolone and onions on seeded rolls, plus fries. We wanted peppers, but they were already out of them by 11 AM, which was disappointing. Unfortunately, the cheesesteaks didn't live up to the hype. They were extremely greasy to the point that it took away from the flavor. The bag the food came in was completely saturated, and even the napkins inside were soaked through. I'm glad I chose the seeded roll because I can only imagine how much worse a regular roll would have held up with that amount of grease. Considering Hoss's is selling steaks over $30, prices are not out of line in these inflationary tariff times. First the positives. Our sandwiches arrived packed. They use a very good bread; not those so-called homemade pizza dough ones many shops use. Offering cooper sharp cheese was a plus. Now some negatives. I'm from the Philadelphia area. So I asked for the typical cheesesteak with sauce (usually pizza sauce) and onions. They don't have it. Just ketchup. Drinks are sold in cans and bottles; but they didn't have any cups, straws let alone ice. My dining partner thought there was something off-putting and couldn't eat her cheesesteak. Excited to have this place arrive. They were very busy when I arrived the counter person took my order quickly and I was told it would be 15 minutes. They got it done in 16 ( kudos for them). I got the chopped burger and it was delicious. I also got onion rings which were good but it was 7 rings for $5. For me that is too pricey for a side. I hope they put some chips in the future. The restaurant is a tight space. One of the mistakes I see many restaurants make is they bolt the table and chairs down. For the average person probably not a big deal but for us 6ft 5 guys not very comfortable. Also the chairs are tight. Should have a mix of chairs with no arm rest so us big dudes are comfortable. The menu has a good mix. I will need to try the other ones before I determine my favorite. For some reason my sandwich was not cut in half. Not sure if that is standard or just missed today. I wish sandwiches were maybe $3 less. Or I wish I made more money so I wouldn't have to worry about that stuff!!! I didn't notice if they had any specialty drinks or dessert. I do like when a sub shop has like a cookie or Brownie at a reasonable price. Parking is no problem. Not sure if they do call in orders. West Shore Plaza is turning into a good food destination. So we finally had a chance to try The Cheesesteak Guy out. Now I am from NE Philly so I'm hard to please when it comes to cheesesteaks. We ordered two cheesesteaks with wiz and a buffalo chicken with cooper sharp. I asked for all the rolls be non seeded but the buffalo came on a seeded roll. I'm glad because I think it works better on a seeded roll. The cheesesteaks were heavy on steak and cheese. The buffalo was loaded too. The steak is fresh and the rolls were great. The price was on point maybe even a little under for what you are getting. The lady who took my order was very nice and friendly. The whole experience was great. You can choose your type of roll. The things you can not order is marina sauce or get a fountain soda. They don't offer that. The sub itself was nice size. Flavor was overall good. ( nothing wrong with it) I wish it had more cheese on it., the extra onions I added. And of course Marina sauce. With all that being said. The place was clean. Very warm on the inside. That takeout bag mist have weighed 5 lbs. we both had to make two meals out of it - and i am not a small guy or small eater. Sandwiches are the best I have had outside of when i lived by Philly. Decided to stop by on a Saturday for a steak and a burger. 1st things first, the cashier, while efficient, didn't seem thrilled to wait on us. We ordered the steak and burger and as others have mentioned, there were several upcharges for the burger not indicated on the menu. I understand having to charge, but the customer needs to know that the extras offered do cost extra. Finally, it took exactly a full, solid 30 minutes to get the steak and the burger. They were both of high quality and certainly didn't skimp on ingredients. I ordered my steak with Whiz, and while I love cheese, there was too much on the steak. This made the roll soggy and the sandwich more messy than it needed to be. I also felt our meal was pretty pricey. The Cacio E Pepe sandwich was very good, I loved the hint of black pepper .h meat is quality from local Warrington Meat. The bread is also quality, not sure who the supplier is. Unfortunately the $5 fries were not good, they are from frozen and then coated with something. This quality sandwich deserves something better. At least fresh cut, and if they want to stand out form the herd, fresh twice cooked fries would be quality, and allow service to run better.. There was only choice of three sodas, $3. Non were diet. Again this is a weakness in selection. It would be nice if fore takeaway if they could offer small one ounce containers of Sirrachi sauce, BBQ sauce and chopped jalapeños for 50 cents. My order wasn't correct, I asked for provolone and no cheese wiz. I gave it a whirl as we had already left the establishment. My onion rings were burnt and too hard to eat. I did order lettuce on my cheesesteak however it was put on the bottom which made my bread very soft and made it all fall out! Portion wise and flavor wise it was on point! The staff was great. In a few words: the best cheesesteak I've ever had. For $15 you get what most restaurants would charge $30 for. The food is freshly made, and everything on the menu is delicious. Staff is incredibly polite and even brought our food to us as it was ready. The restaurant itself is moderately decorated and feels very local, which is such a welcome change of pace. The music they played was well-chosen. I'd eat here every day if I could. The food was not only very delicious, but held together incredibly well, was reasonably priced, and came out piping hot (but not so hot it burned). My family and I have been a huge fan of this place since it was over in the Broad St Market, with my son citing in a food review that this was one of the best places hes ever had a cheesesteak. We were very excited to check out the new location, as it took a while to open. When we arrived, things looked a bit messy. Not a big deal in a new location and business. The lady working the front didnt greet us and honestly looked pretty exhausted. We were looking through the menu which was still amazing, but two people informed us that the place was out of rolls for the day but we could still order anything else. I get that a new location could get pretty swamped, but to be out of something as an important as rolls was disappointing to say the least. I left a comment only to find it deleted on their facebook page. It seems like a few comments have been as well for some reason or another. I strongly feel that this location probably wasnt ready to be open or to deal with the volume of customers so soon. Especially to run out of such a vital component. I am glad to see that they closed shortly after we were informed. I still have hope for this location, but its not off to a very smooth start with deleted comments, and lack of ingredients. We will see down the road if it improves, and if it does I will gladly change my review. But for the time being, I do not recommend. Maybe in a few weeks they will find their flow, but for the time I would highly suggest making other dinner plans. read more

Stop by this location as a first time. I ordered the burger with onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and cheese after paying I realize that there's au up charge for each topping. I looked up on the menu board and it does not state that there is an up charge for those toppings. I spoke with the cashier. She said she understood where I was coming from. She asked if I would wanna talk to the owner. I said that would be fine that I just wanted to explain that if there was gonna be a charge for those, it should be listed. The owner comes in and apparently he must be having a crappy day because he came at me full on attitude. I explained to him that based on the menu - it seems like the toppings are free that there wasn't a charge, but other items are listed with an up charge. He tried to then explain to me that his burgers are made and price so cheaply that he has to charge for toppings and I said that's fine but it should be listed and then he pointed out that the cheesesteaks don't have prices on there, but they're not free. I think he was just really missing the bigger picture and wanted to argue with someone. Not quite sure why but with his bad attitude I'm not sure that his location here is gonna last very long. Once you finally get a parking space outside the Broad Street Market and enter the building, you can't not find their stand. The continued clanging of the metal spatula was music to my ears for two reasons. First, the cook is busy - people want their food. Secondly, the steak is chopped up finely which helps the steak marinate in its own juices more. Since it was busy and seating was tight, we took ours to go. The comments about the grease are justified, but I think it helps the flavor somewhat. The rolls are fresh and on point, the finally chopped steak just melts in your mouth. My friend devoured his before I was half way through. So I knew he agreed that this is the best n Harrisburg hands down.
