Doesnt care about the customer, just his comfort level. Must be nice to not need your customers

I went in at 5:25 and was turned away. The owner asked whats wrong coming out of the back and I told him I wanted a sandwhich. He said theyre closed I said your open until 7pm he responded i changed my hours to 6 pm for thr summer but it wasnt even barely 5:30 yet. He said next time to which i replied i doubt it. I feel totally disrespected. I suppose he made enough money to make him happy that day. What kind of jerk closes their restaurant when peoplep are literally getting off work. Im a retired chef , worked in restaurants for over 35 yeard I NEVER once turned a customee away that walked in my door. Closed or not. Success in a restaurant is a blessing and this fool is taking it for granted. A person like this deserves to experience failure.

Cheesesteak with whiz and Cooper Sharp, and fried onions

I love a good cheesesteak after having lived in Philadelphia decades ago. After seeing multiple posts raving about the "cheesesteak guy" in Lemoyne, PA, I decided to stop by for lunch today. Fair warning - if this is your favorite shop, stop reading now. While the place does offer decent rolls and uses Cooper Sharp cheese, the cheesesteak itself was a greasy, gristly mess. It doesn't come close to competing with the real heavy-hitters. Maybe it passes for decent in Central Pennsylvania, but it's nowhere near the level of the top-tier spots in and around Philly.

Nice new location located inside the West Shore Plaza in Lemoyne, so more open hours (Mon-Sat) and more room for tables and chairs to eat inside. Saw they just reopened on 10/17 so I stopped by for a quick cheesesteak. I thought I ordered a steak, Cooper cheese, wit (with onions) but there were none on the sandwich when it came out. Still very flavorful and the seeded roll (they ask if you want seeded or not) was great. Next time, definitely want/need the fried onions. Grease was not an issue as previously mentioned in my reviews. Well done and congratulations on your new store!

We decided to try this and we weren't disappointed. Service was friendly. Food was good. Fries were good. We got two cheesesteaks. Provie onions and peppers. Bread was good. Meat was good. Kind of expensive I thought but thats getting common. They have other sandwiches and onion rings too. They also give a ten percent discount to first responders and military. I hope it does well. I would go back.

    Delicious chopped burger.

Excited to have this place arrive. They were very busy when I arrived the counter person took my order quickly and I was told it would be 15 minutes. They got it done in 16 ( kudos for them). I got the chopped burger and it was delicious. I also got onion rings which were good but it was 7 rings for $5. For me that is too pricey for a side. I hope they put some chips in the future. The restaurant is a tight space. One of the mistakes I see many restaurants make is they bolt the table and chairs down. For the average person probably not a big deal but for us 6ft 5 guys not very comfortable. Also the chairs are tight. Should have a mix of chairs with no arm rest so us big dudes are comfortable. The menu has a good mix. I will need to try the other ones before I determine my favorite. For some reason my sandwich was not cut in half. Not sure if that is standard or just missed today. I wish sandwiches were maybe $3 less. Or I wish I made more money so I wouldn't have to worry about that stuff!!! I didn't notice if they had any specialty drinks or dessert. I do like when a sub shop has like a cookie or Brownie at a reasonable price. Parking is no problem. Not sure if they do call in orders. West Shore Plaza is turning into a good food destination. Gourmet choc, An excellent Chinese restaurant and Neato Burrito, and a diner. Maybe an ice cream shop would be good next. Looking forward to my next visit.

Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak with cooper sharp.

So we finally had a chance to try The Cheesesteak Guy out. Now I am from NE Philly so I'm hard to please when it comes to cheesesteaks. We ordered two cheesesteaks with wiz and a buffalo chicken with cooper sharp. I asked for all the rolls be non seeded but the buffalo came on a seeded roll. I'm glad because I think it works better on a seeded roll. The cheesesteaks were heavy on steak and cheese. The buffalo was loaded too. The steak is fresh and the rolls were great. The price was on point maybe even a little under for what you are getting. The lady who took my order was very nice and friendly. The whole experience was great. Best steaks I have had since moving out here. I'm looking forward to trying the other items on their menu. A+ TCG

Really good classic Philly cheesesteak with all the classic toppings at this spot good portion filling and a nice flavor, not overly overpriced like the joints back in Philly, friendly prompt staff, and a nice dine in area

Chicken Cheesesteak is on point. Fast service, great menu choices. They do not skimp on the meat or cheese.

Some were great, some good and others should have never been called cheese steak subs. We moved to PA a few years back and have explored our community for the best places to eat. It was one day about 3 months ago, my wife and me had a hankering for a really good cheese steak sub. We punched in the request in our GPS and several places displayed upon the screen. After a quick check on reviews of the various locations, we settled on South Philly Hogies. Although the trip was 18 minutes away at 23 miles, off we went to try this establishment. We both ordered the California Cheese Steak and fries. We drove home and I can tell you by far this was the best Cheese Steak we had ever eaten. The bread it is served on is so soft and fresh and they have no issues with making it your way. I would be remiss if I didn't make mention that the staff are always nice and friendly. The quality and quantity that you get with your order almost seems impossible these days. We were so pleased that every time a family visits us here in PA, South Philly Hogies will always get a stop from us. We enjoyed every bite and discovered that we like it so much that as soon as we receive our food, we travel to the shopping mall and eat on the lot. We never make it home now with our food. All you hear in the car is lips smacking and people saying "um, um , um" I must also report that they are truly wonderful with regard to prices. I have paid upwards of almost $30.00 for the food we ordered from other establishments and the food was not that great at all. Not wishing to see price increased at this location but I would gladly pay a little more because they are that good. Thank you guys for doing such a great job with your service and your food. We will see you again as you are now on our once every 2 week visit list. For ever! Mr. & Mrs. Green

I almost always get some variation of an Italian sub - though I have probably had everything on the menu over the last 20 years. Never had something I didn't like, though I personally do like my burgers seasoned a little more, and typically won't order a burger here. I've NEVER gotten an incorrect order in all of these years. New me, new experience. like not a single cell from back then made the trip with me. We pull up, deal with Harrisburg parking (a whole separate scam I won't get into today), and walk into this little hole-in-the-wall lunch spot that closes at 2. That alone explains why it's been over a decade. But the second you step inside, it hits you this place has an aura. Straight New York-Philly energy. Metro signs everywhere, burger memorabilia, cheesesteak philosophy on the walls, Italian pride, city pride, just buku love, buku vibes. You order in a separate little room that feels like a classic bodega. Glass cooler with lunch meats, tiny soda setup, 50-cent refills, vanilla and cherry add-ons if you're feeling fancy. Cash only. No exceptions. We actually had to leave and hit an ATM because my roommate forgot. That's the kind of place this is. Feels like there's no internet in there. Like they might still be running a ham radio in the back. The guys working there? Straight 1970s New York swagger. You can tell this place has not changed since the day it opened, and that's exactly the point. And the wait, yeah, you're waiting. 20 minutes easy. But that's part of it. That's Staves of all the instant gratification and doom scrolling. It sets you back to a forgotten time. Then the burger comes out. This ain't no smash burger. This ain't no little quarter-pound situation. This is a big, meaty, juicy, chewy, greasy, gooey pound of flesh. And yeah, keep all of that. I'm staring at it for 30 seconds, salivating, practically full just looking at it. I finally put the bun on and go at it jerking my head around like a dog playing tug of war (making the most carnivorous, bestial sounds) I got the Jackson burger, lettuce, tomato, J-sauce. I need my J-sauce. And it hits and for a brief moment there is no worry in the world. This isn't a place you go every week unless you're trying to test your mortality. But when you go, you go all the way: 22-ounce Coca-Cola, burger, fries. No half measures. And the crowd? Office guys in suits on their lunch break. Capitol crowd. That's the vibe. I'm never in that world, so stepping into it felt like being dropped into a different city entirely--honestly felt like a Manhattan Lunch Break. The burger itself? Timeless. Not chasing trends, not trying to be Shake Shack, not Five Guys. This is some old-school, 1950s, Back to the Future-type energy. I half expected Marty McFly and Doc to walk in, get em one. Only surprise? No shakes. Feels like they should have shakes. They don't do fries with that shake. Now the one knock: the fries. Flavor? Perfection, hand cut boardwalk style fries. But I got a lot of little end pieces, now that's straight up disrespectful to me, how you gonna treat me like that?. I don't want to dig through little nubs to find actual fries. That's where I gotta be honest, dock a point. Overall though? Food: elite Experience: unmatched Vibe: 5/5 Conclusion - 4/5 (fix those bum-ass fries.)
