We were highly impressed with our experience here! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon unexpectedly and we're glad we checked it out. It's a cute little cafe. The prices are decent, and they have a large selection of bistro/brunch style foods. We got the spinach, tomato, brie egg sandwich, Nutella and banana sandwich, and tomato soup, all of which were wonderful. We left with our bellies full and no complaints. All the tables are tiny little 2-tops. Luckily, we were able to push two together. I was a little grossed out by how sticky the table tops were. Also, the air conditioning was either not on, or not working. It was uncomfortably warm in the dining room. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. It was pretty good- containing fruit and chicken in a light mayo dressing, with spring mix. The only issue is that when I took a bite, a good amount of the filling squished out the back. You do have to pay for parking if you come during the weekday, but that's Harrisburg's fault, not the cafe's. My turkey and arugula was SO good. The house-made garlic aioli is a must. I opted for the honey wheat bread instead of the ciabatta roll. I'm not sure if the dressing on my Greek salad was also homemade but it seemed like it, I could have eaten another bowl of the salad with that dressing. Which brings me to why it's only 4 stars. For me and my mom, it was enough for a light lunch. Anyone who would want a heartier meal would need to order more than one item. The bowl of soup was a good size, but again it was fairly light. I love progressives and I love hipsters and I love anything left wing but when it comes to food I'm not going to love your food just because you have all of those values and shove them in my face - which is exactly where I want them shoved, no doubt. We had lunch here while passing through Harrisburg and it was awful. All the good reviews are shocking to me now after getting takeout. First, it took about 20 minutes after the pickup time for the food t actually be done. We had the proscuito and pear panini and the thai chicken sandwich. The panini was disgusting, it was a little burnt, the pears were so thick, the prosciutto had a funny taste, the jam was tart and thick with seeds. The thai chicken sandwich had the possibility to be good- i liked that it had green onions and cilantro on it and the chicken wasn't bad, but the peanut sauce was essentially peanut butter. I eat thai food frequently and have never had a "peanut sauce" like this. There was also so much of it it made the sandwich impossible to eat, we ended up taking the top bun off and trying to scrape the peanut butter off the bottom. The fruit cup was small and had maybe 2 strawberries cut up into tiny, baby-sized slivers with blueberries and apple sticks. Chips were bbq chips from a bag. There are so many other places nearby, I'd skip this one for sure. read more

From what I observed on their chalk wall, they did not have many to-go coffee options, so I just chose an iced cold brew. I tried Yellow Bird Cafe for the first time today and I definitely plan to return! Much to my surprise and delight, there was ample street parking nearby when I visited for lunch on a weekday. They could use additional signage outside - I missed it the first time I drove by. The inside was cute, hip and trendy. The portions were great for the price and the cashier/server was very friendly. She asked if it was my first time there and then explained the menu a bit to me in a very welcoming way. I got the Baby Bibb salad and added roasted chicken strips. It was delicious! I subbed out ranch for oil and vinegar. They feature local coffee from One Good Woman, which I want to try next time. They also have amazing baked treats like humongous cookies, rice krispie treats and muffins that look amazing. It's a small place and quickly filled up with the lunch crowd. I'm here visiting, I walked into this place, I was not greeted by the host. I understand, she was on the phone but after she was done still no greeting. I'm not sure if you order & then sit down, but we just sat ourselves. I was there for about 10 minutes & not a single time did the host come to even greet us, or let us know to order & then take a seat. A group of 4 girls walk in & the host immediately greeted them & serves them. The place is adorable and the staff very friendly, but a coffeeshop and breakfast joint lives or dies by its coffee and it's breakfast sandwiches. The coffee squirts out of a big thermos in the corner and is your typical industrial ooze. The breakfast sandwich had all the right stuff (bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin) but was somehow dry and bland. Another commenter noted it was hot in here.
