The last time I had seen a dentist they were still carving dentures out of wood. 7+ decades in, I thought it a good idea to get my snags looked at to see if they'll get me over the finish line. I had no frame of reference in finding a dentist, so I recalled the TV commercials I'd seen about Edgewater Dental Arts. Gave them a call, and went in. From the jump everyone was great. I told Doctor Cutting what I was trying to accomplish, and that I was concerned about cost. They did the full workup and treatment plan. Holy S*it. What was recommended was pricey. But it accurately reflected what was needed. Called my CFP, pulled some retirement funds, and took the plunge. I now have a full upper arch of crowns, and the first smile I've been proud of in 50 years. Dr Cutting, Brooke, Kim, Kelsey (sorry if I missed anyone) have made for an outstanding experience. The last time I was there, the front desk talked badly about patients' medications and conditions loudly enough that I could hear it across the waiting room. Dr. Keer told me I had a mouth "full of cavities." I've never had a single cavity in my life, have always stayed up to date on my dental care, and got sealants on the teeth in question 3 years prior to this visit. At least, I think they were the teeth in question, because Dr. Keer never showed me which teeth on the X-ray, never showed me the lesions. Nothing. Just, "you have a mouth full of cavities," and off she went. Second opinion revealed I have zero cavities. Two spots that need to be watched--which I have known about for years--but nothing that needs to be filled. Then, the worst one (between that visit and my second opinion)--I took my son here for a cleaning and exam. All prior exams and cleanings up to date and normal. This time, my son came out of the back when he was done and said, "The dentist told me I have a cavity." I said, "Oh, is she going to come show me which one?" The front desk staff told me which tooth. No word from Dr. Keer, no showing me the x-rays, no reviewing the evidence to show me which tooth needs to be filled. Nothing. Totally inappropriate behavior all around. My whole family is going elsewhere now.

At that point, a young woman at the front counter responded to my husband in a very rude and hostile manner and told us that we had to pay. My husband calmly asked what the charge was for, but she refused to explain. He asked again what the fee was, and instead of providing clarification, she called him "difficult." She then stated that she would not know the cost until I was already in the back receiving treatment. My husband explained that he was not comfortable proceeding without knowing the cost first and again asked for an explanation. The employee then told him there would be an additional $65 charge but still did not provide a reason for it. When he asked for clarification--because we are familiar with our dental coverage--she suddenly raised her voice and said "screw you" directly to him. My husband asked her to repeat what she said, and she again responded with "screw you." At that point he declined the service and we began to leave. As we were walking out, she yelled after him that he should never come back and that she "better not see him in public." As a man, he interpreted that statement as a threat. He initially started to respond but then decided it was not worth escalating the situation and walked away. She then turned to me and made an inappropriate comment suggesting that I should leave my "abusive husband," which was completely untrue and uncalled for. My husband was simply asking reasonable questions about charges that did not match what our dental insurance policy covers. We carry a very comprehensive dental plan, and he was trying to understand why we were being asked to pay for something that should have been covered. There was absolutely no reason for the employee to behave the way she did or speak to us in such an unprofessional and aggressive manner. To be fair, aside from this individual, the rest of the staff seemed polite and professional. Had this employee not initiated this confrontation, I would not be writing this review today. Unfortunately, her conduct created a very negative experience for us. I would not recommend this place as if you do plan on emptying your wallet , see these places have a contract with your insurance company which states they must take a certain amount of money for services , but they go around them by charging more or forcing you to pay the difference which is contradictory to the contract they have with the carriers , call your carrier you will find out everything i state is facts .

Now that I no longer live in the Annapolis area, I travel almost 2 hours to see him. Yesterday's visit was so typical: I found out that the team had a meeting prior to my appointment so that they could go over my special needs. I was given a sedative and allowed to relax lying back in the comfortable chair with a soft, cozy blanket and some nice music. They have numbing cream so that you don't feel the IV needle but I was already covered in the one he had prescribed for me earlier. I never felt the dreaded "stick" and the next thing I knew, I woke in my own bed at home with all of my dental work done. Today I feel refreshed and looking forward to my next visit in October. How many people can say that they actually look forward to seeing their dentist???

The front desk took the initiative to double check my insurance before I arrived to ensure I was covered. Once my cleaning was done, I had to make an appointment for the cavity and they didn't have an appointment until the new year but offered to put me on a waiting list for cancelled appointments. I got a call same day that someone had canceled for the coming week. All work was quoted prior to service and final amount aligned with the pre-service quote. Highly recommend.

My only issue was the heavy meds they prescribe as a matter of course. Another friend mentioned that too. I did not need the oxy pills and I never intended to take them, which I did not. The second time, I had gum grafting done. Again, during the surgery, Dr Di was very caring and professional. My follow up appointment was about six weeks later, and I still was having lots of discomfort and had another adjacent tooth that was numb. That was a very difficult appointment, not because of the doctor, but because of rough handling by the two assistants. I also have never regained normal feeling in the roof of my mouth (the donor tissue site), and it has now been over two years. I was told after the surgery it might take up to a year a year for the nerves to heal. I wish there had been more review of possible complications and negative potential outcomes before surgery. I don't recall seeing an informed consent form or discussing that with anyone on the team.

I had a tooth where the crown came off probably ten+ years ago and after many attempts to glue it back in place, finally it came out and was out for probably seven or so years, during which it became infected periodically, but I did not have it extracted, as I was advised many times over the years. Fast forward, my wife and I moved to the Annapolis area a few years ago and we had to find all new doctors. Dr. Miele was recommended to my wife to do a complex procedure that should have been quite painful, but my wife told me that Dr. Miele performed magic, as her procedure was painless and perfect. Dr. Miele sets the bar to the top as an incredibly warm, compassionate and extremely professional doctor. I think the warm and compassionate traits are somewhat rare in the medical field, my wife and I are truly lucky to have found Dr. Miele. Now, to my procedure, magic! Yep, that's about all I can say. It was the second to the back, top tooth, close to my sinus and tricky to extract without any complications. Dr. Miele, again, demonstrated warmth and compassion, while being a top doctor in her field. These are a lot of words to say that my wife and I recommend Dr. Miele, if we could give 15 out of 10 starts we would.
