I've been here for 3 mammograms. I've always found the technicians to be very friendly and efficient. Wait times can vary, but the imaging goes rather quickly. Results are provided in a timely manner. The front office gals have always been helpful and friendly. I would recommend for breast imaging. read more

If they can't even get medical records right, what else are they messing up on?! Records request was made to have sent to ortho provider. Went to ortho appointment in Seattle and they sent the WRONG IMAGING. When the request was very clear on what imaging was needed to be sent (I have proof). So not only was gas money, my time, the surgeons time, and money wasted for the appointment. There's no where to file a complaint online, they clearly do not care about feedback or patient satisfaction. Avoid this place to avoid a headache. read more

I took my 22 year old developmentally disabled daughter to South Sound Radiology for a MRI of her brain. This MRI was ordered by her neurologist. She has several brain abnormalities and he wanted to make sure her condition continues to be stable. We arrived and I was told that no one can be present with her during her MRI. She attempted to be brave and go alone despite her high anxiety. Her neurologist had also ordered contrast which really made her scared. She decided to do the contrast part of her MRI after the initial one. The nurse that would've been doing the contrast attempted to help my daughter by breathing with her to calm her down. The MRI tech decided that she had enough after my daughter asked if it was okay to push the panic button if she got too scared. The tech impatiently told my daughter that we would have to reschedule. I have been present for three brain MRIs with my daughter previously at OHSU and it was never a problem. I have no idea why this company won't allow a developmentally disabled person to have their support person present during a brain MRI. It's absolutely ridiculous. Front desk staff were helpful and kind and the nurse that was planning to do the contrast was amazing. We will not be going back due to the rest of the experience read more

Came in for an Ultrasound on my lovely Kidney Stones. I was early for my appointment. Checked in, and did my co-pay. Had to wait about 10 minutes past my appointment to be seen....not too bad. The Techs were great and were able to do the procedure in quick time and get me out of there. We would be at five stars. About 4 weeks later, I got a call saying I owed on the account. The amount was the same as my co-pay. I tried calling their billing number, and the only thing I ever heard was the phone ringing and the forever please wait for assistance. Sent an e-mail in, describing the problem and followed up with a copy of the payment made. I assumed all was well. About 4 weeks later, I received the "sending to collections" letter. I sent an e-mail to the person I had been e-mailing with to see if they could resolved the issue. Quiet. About 4 more weeks later, I receive another "sending to collections" letter. Tried calling their billing department again, and again stuck in the forever wait. I decided to drive to the office and explain the problem. The person at the counter asked my name and looked me up. She said, Oh, the co pay was applied to you but for a different birthday so the accounts don't match. She did some typing and I was taken care of. So it appears I checked in at the counter with my correct account, but when I made the payment they applied it to a different account....all at the same time. read more

HORRIBLE BILLING COMPANY My family has used South Sound Radiology in the past for all of our imaging needs (mammogram, mri, ct scan, etc). We have always had excellent service from the technicians and front off staff. UNTIL my teen daughter came in for a test. She is 19 and was told she had to pay 100.00. We have never had to pay money like this up front, as we have very good health insurance. She called me afterwards and told me she had paid it. If she would have called me before I would have called and disputed the payment as we do not have that high of a deductible or copay. Anyway.....a few weeks later I start really questioning why they had her pay money. I called my health insurance company who said the bill was paid in full already and that they should not have asked for the 100.00 and I was entitled to a full reimbursement of that money. So here is where things have gone WAY DOWN HILL. SSR used to handle their own billing. Now they contract with another company, who is HORRID to deal with. Their call center representatives are rude, short, and incompetent. I was on hold for 30 minutes on the first call but eventually it was determined that I was due a refund. When I asked when I could expect it, the gal had a very rude and condescending tone and said, 6-8 weeks. This is unacceptable. When I have had payments due to them, there is no grace period. You pay in 30 days or there is a late fee. I asked that they expedite the payment. She said she "would send an email". Fast forward 7 weeks. I call the call center again to ask where the check is and they refuse to even speak to me since my daughter is 19 (I am the subscriber). I tell them I do not want any info on her treatment (although they already know I know from the last call and my daughter was standing there with me to give authorization if needed). They will not tell me when to expect the check or give any info. BUT it took them 48 minutes to tell me this. The gal kept putting me on hold, looking at stuff, clicking the keyboard and saying "hmmmmmmmmm, ok". A lot. When I asked politely to speak to her supervisor she put me on endless hold - no one ever came to the phone. So, I called the officer manager at SSR. Lee was very nice and helpful and said they would be sending a check out (he told me that it still had not been set to be processed so I am sure if I hadn't called I would still be waiting). I received it 4 days short of 8 weeks from the time of the appt/payment. Here is the issue. You are only as good as the staff who represent you. The overcharging itself was a mistake and I can accept that but to have to go through almost 2 hours of dealing with rude call center employees to get my money back is unacceptable. Until they address their issues with this call center and billing company, my family will no longer be using SSR. We will head out of town, instead, if need be. read more

I"ve been fighting a chonic knee problem since last winter. An operation "fixed" it only to find I also have a fracture in my femur by the knee-cap. My ortho ordered a CT scan to confirm. A bit of paper work to fill out (always) and in less than 15 minutes, I was in and out of the scanner. Simple. And the staff was very pleasant. read more

I considered postponing my routine mammogram and DEXA scan due to the pandemic, but I was assured when I scheduled that they were taking every precaution to reduce exposure. So when I called from my car to check in and was told to come on into the building, I assumed they were ready for me. Nothing could have been further from the truth. After filling out my questionnaire on a communal iPad that had been "sanitized" between customers, I was left sitting in the waiting room for 20" for a study that took maybe 10 ". I was then returned to the waiting room where I sat for ANOTHER 20" before being called back for my second study. While waiting, I was treated to a show of misguided humanity by my fellow travelers on this planet. One elderly gentleman decided to stand over the reception clerk for about 5 minutes talking to her with his mask pulled down under his nose. She was "too polite" to correct his behavior. Next, an older lady decided it would be fun to pull down her mask in front of the other clerk and ostentatiously blow her nose into a wadded up tissue she retrieved from her pocket, right before being handed the aforementioned communal iPad. Bottom line, this is not a health care facility with your best interests at heart, but rather a cynical corporate profit center that is just going through the motions to keep the cash flow where they want it. read more

Before I start this review is directed at the office employees not my tech, my tech was competent at her job. They ran my card a credited my in office payment to someone else's account! If I hadn't caught it myself on my receipt they never would have caught it. It concerns me that the women that check me in and did all my paper work couldn't remember me 20 mins later, I was the first appointment and their was only 3 people in the waiting room. Not to mention she charge me double what the insurance co pay was now I've got to chase the jerks for $140. Bad business practices, this was my first time there and it seems I'm not the only one that had a similar issue, that's shady. I will be reporting them. read more

What an uncomfortable experience. Already feeling vulnerable and a bit scared because of why I was there in the first place. The radiologist appeared VERY irritated that my primary care provider sent me there; made me feel like I was imagining it or making the whole issue up. I've never felt so belittled or dismissed by a doctor before; especially in a matter of five minutes. The front desk staff and the technicians were great, so kudos to them. However, the radiologist made the whole experience terrible and uncomfortable. If you can get a referral elsewhere, I recommend you do so. read more

You're better off going to the hospital. Really if you have a choice do not go to this facility and if your doctor recommends it then ask for a referral to another place. My wife needed to get a CT scan and her doctor sent her to this location. In the past she has never had any issues with scans or the machines that do them. However this location had a exceptionally loud one. The noise plus the closed space of the machine caused her to have emotional distress. She refused the second scan that was scheduled that day after the tech stated "If you need medication you'll need to go back to your doctor." Per their recommendation we left to try again another time. Fast forward a month and a half later and I find that this office has billed our insurance the full amount for for a scan that was never performed. This scan was roughly $1800. That seems like a reasonable price IF it had been performed! I would have understood a cancellation/walk out fee but to charge for a full scan and dye that was never completed or used is shady at best and criminal at worst. At no point did any of the staff make my wife aware that she would still be charged for services not rendered. The office was busy that day so it was clear that by not performing the scan we were just clearing up the slot for other patience and I find it hard to believe that they could claim a "loss" due to her walkout. If anything it seemed like they overbooked that day. The techs that were with her didn't even give her a chance to calm down and just pressured her to make a choice: Scan or No Scan, but you can't wait here to calm down. With shady billing practices and horrible bedside manner I highly recommend you avoid this place. read more

I have a very small medical problem. It took 2 full weeks to get an appointment. Not too thrilled about that but it's a small problem after all. On the day of my appointment I arrived a bit early and was promptly checked in. My appointment time came and went. A full 35 minutes later I got up to ask what the hang up was and as I got to the counter I was finally called for my ultrasound. The technician was very professional and I even tried to make a bit joke about being there but her demeanor stayed borderline stuffy professional. Are they competent in what they do? I will assume so as I have not gotten my information from them yet. My problem is the wait time on arrival and the rather extreme time it took to get an appointment. This is how they lost the 2 stars in my rating. Updated on 6/29/17 Oddly enough I never received a bill after my visit. Life happens as it does and it was put out of mind. Today I received a rather threatening automated call stating I was going to be turned in to a collection agency for non payment. I called them directly to arrange payment. Was transferred to the billing department. Rather than taking my info to get payment processed I was dropped back into another automated system to collect payment. Also, I was not informed of the balance until afteR my card was processed. Based on the billing and automated system and my overall treatment I think one star is higher then they deserve. Received medical imaging at this location for many years and can't recall ever having a pleasant experience. The latest issues: Front desk actually hung up the phone during the check-in process from our car (while we waited outside their office). Called back, was put on hold for a long time, and disconnected again. Decided to walk inside to "check-in" due to their phone issue. Women at the front desk can clearly see us waiting in line and kept us waiting even longer for no apparent reason. Also denied even hanging up on us. Front desk staff members are always distant/rude and lazy. Then a younger member of the staff walks into the waiting room to inform that my wife is finished with her MRI. Forgot to mention wanting a copy of MRI images for our records, but decided I can simply ask before we leave. Waited about 10 minutes but did not see my wife, thought she was either in the dressing room or possibly upfront near main doors? Called out to my wife near the dressing room but heard no response. Saw the younger staff member and walked in to ask about obtaining MRI images and check on my wife. That is when another older woman (staff member) walks up and says "can I help you?" Her tone and mannerism gave an impression that I was up to no good. The younger staff member picked up on it then said "I didn't know he was here". My wife walks out and greets me, no apology by either staff member for how it came across. Hopefully we will not have to return here again. read more

If I could give zero stars that would be the consensus. Besides terrible parking the mannerism of the staff is appalling. They don't give the proper instructions or information you need before going to the facility for your appointment, which is a big waste of time and just plain inconsiderate. I had a great experience at SSR. I went in for a routine mammogram and ended up needing to have a biopsy and ultimately surgery to remove some cells that could be cancerous over time. I really appreciated the sense of urgency and concern and Dr Stein and the rest of the staff were amazing. It was a scary experience to think it could have been more serious but they handled it well, were super diligent and very kind. I was informed of my options and I knew exactly what was going to happen before it happened. If anyone is about to experience a breast biopsy, its not that bad! A nasty little poke and you don't feel a thing after that. I was a little worried but it was no big deal, thank you Dr. Stein! As far as billing, they did ask for the portion of the payment that insurance wouldn't cover up front which can be daunting if you cant afford it but it isn't a reflection on them but rather the state of our healthcare system in the US. I fully understand that they are a business and they must get paid to stay in business. I have a health savings account (HSA) and I highly recommend if your employer offers this! It allows you to pay for medical expenses tax free and I was able to save for this expense with no out of pocket costs. Any money you save while you are working is then still available to you for medical expenses when you retire! I appreciate the care I received here and I will be diligent about making sure I get my routine screenings from now on! read more

When I attempt to ask their doctor about the findings reported in my own chart, and per the advisement of my own doctor, the South Sound Radiology doctor refused to even speak with me. I have been on hold every day for at least 20-30 min multiple times trying to pay my bill. I received a nasty call after getting a single bill, threatening to send me to collections. It is my fault for not having my account number readily available at my work, however waiting this long to talk to someone is ridiculous. There is no alternate way that I can find to retrieve your account number. If you are going to make it IMPOSSIBLE to reach a human, please at least give the option to request your account number via email or SOMETHING. ANYTHING. When I was at SSR, it took at least 15 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Then was told by the tech that one of the tests, she 'really didn't think I needed'. Ummm my Dr ordered it. It made me feel like she thought I was dumb and then said something to the effect of, 'well, your Dr ordered it and I don't want to be the one to tell you not to get it and then have something be wrong.' I feel like she just didn't want to take any more time with me. I get it is a professional environment, but come on... smile. I was always pretty happy with my service here, but lately it has really gone downhill. Also, maybe don't wait half a year to bill someone. Insurance companies are slow, I get it. While writing this review... the phone was finally answered. I was asked "patient name and birthday". I stated my name and birthday and was put on hold without a word and sent back the automated menu. If I could give negative stars, I would. This is a pathetic excuse for a billing system. If I could give zero stars, I would. I didn't hear from the office for 3 weeks after I was referred for an ultrasound, so I called to be scheduled. No apology for that. I was assured they keep these appointments on time, because sitting there with a full bladder (as required for testing) is extremely uncomfortable. I was extremely uncomfortable sitting there with a full bladder in the waiting room. When I asked the front desk how much longer, I got a very rude response that the tech would be out any minute. It was another 20 minutes before she called me back (so my appointment was 20 minutes later than scheduled). The tech was not at all gentle with that wand. The test took a long time and there was nothing but awkward silence. It was quite painful. I ended up spotting for 2 days after the test, which I learned from google was normal, since SSR hadn't told me what to expect. The tech only recorded blood flow on the right ovary during the test and I was worried what that meant. I was told results take 3-4 days. I called my Doctor's office a week later because I hadn't heard the results. SSR apparently had sent my results to the wrong provider's office (thanks, HIPAA violation). Once my provider got my results, he informed me that they hadn't been able to visualize the left ovary at all. He referred me to a specialist who will now have to repeat the exam because the SSR testing was of such poor quality. It was a complete waste of my time to go, not to mention painful and humiliating. read more

First of all, I would give NO stars if I could! I am a person that never sees a doctor if I can help it; I've had too many bad experiences with them. I do not have a primary because of this reason. For 2 weeks one of my breasts has been sore and I finally decided to schedule a mammogram. Me reaching out is very difficult as my whole family can attest to. Much to my surprise when making the appointment, I was told that I could NOT have a mammogram because I did not have a primary doctor. This is the most asinine thing that I have ever heard! I hve gone here for years and I have had several tests ran this past month at South Sound in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. They have made all their instructions so easy to follow, calling in with their phone number being visible on several signs, coming out to you car to check you in and take your temperature, and giving you pagers for when it is your turn to go in. My appointments have all gone very smoothly and I am always treated with utmost courtesy and they address all my concerns. Ashely took care of me this last visit and was very professional. The visit before was for a biopsy of my thyroid and I am forgetful of the name but was treated with such care. Everyone there is the best! read more

After TRA imaging decided testing to see if my brain tumor had grown was not "urgent" enough, my doctors nurse suggested South Sound Radiology. What an amazing difference. My technician, Brittany, was absolutely the best. She was kind, gentle and so supportive. She answered all my question and allayed my anxiety. Instead of the cage that totally covered my face, which being claustrophobic terrified me, they use a simple band over your forehead! So much nicer and I had no anxiety. They have a problem with their billing. They turned my mother over to collections after they said they sent her the bill three times. She said she never got one bill and she's even more OCD than me about always paying bills on time and in full so the idea she would ignore three separate bills is utterly ridiculous. Stay away from SSR. Getting turned over to collections is bad enough, when it's their fault it is crazy-making! read more

EDITED: Within a few days of posting this review, the office manager called me on my cell to discuss my review. She was extremely kind and listened to my explanation of the situation. She was very professional and understanding of my situation and feeling toward to my treatment at the office. She confirmed that she would speak to the staff member that was rude to me, since their system apparently lets them know who checked me in. She also said she would pass on my praise to the sonographer that we saw. I was so happy that she reached out to me to hear the full story. I've never had a company or business reach out to an unsatisfied customer before. It really changed my perspective and has made me reconsider going back. I'm hoping the rude staff will be reprimanded and that my future visits will be better. INITIAL REVIEW: I've had to come here twice to get ultrasounds done for my infant daughter's hips. It was either here or drive all the way to Seattle. The first time I came, I arrived 20 minutes early, like I was informed. I waited a total of 40 minutes before they got me in! And my daughter was a month old so she was extremely upset & fussy as soon as the ultrasound started. I had to change and feed her, but the sonographer was at least understanding. Since the exam results were "non-diagnostic", we came again a month later. I got a call and voicemail an hour before our appointment asking if we could come in 15 minutes early. If we couldn't, they said to come at our normal time. We showed up 20 minutes before our original time and was told our exam already started and that we were late. I told the receptionist our appointment's original time. She looked and saw no notes saying our time was changed to the earlier time. She called and got us in, but made it seem like I was late and was in the wrong. Someone changed our time, yet made no mention of it in the voicemail left. Thankfully, the same sonographer was nice and friendly both times, otherwise I would give a worse review. They make you wait, change your appointment time and make you feel you are in the wrong. Next time, I'll make a trip to Seattle to avoid this place. read more

The facility and staff are pleasant and professional. My beef is that the charges were twice what my insurer (Tricare) would cover. Paying $220 out of pocket for an annual routine mammogram (on top of what my insurance covered) seems excessive. Next time I will look for a less expensive provider. read more

I had my annual mammogram appointment today. They were very specific that I should be there 15 minutes early to check in. No problem, I'm ALWAYS at least that early! I got there at 1:40 for my 2:00 appointment and checked in immediately. I finished my questionnaire and was told to sit and wait. And wait. And wait. At 2:25 I went back up and wait for reception, where the person who checked me in looked up at me standing there (for 5 more minutes) before one of the other girls nudges receptionist #2 and she finally calls me foreward. I've been waiting over half an hour and have seen at least 7 people coming and going so I want to make sure I'm still on the list... "People are seen here for many things, so what's your name " receptionist #2 says Very curt and dismissive. I tell her. "Yes, they should call you any time.." I go sit back down, wait 15 more minutes (and 3 other people called back). After 15 more minutes I had enough. I go back up to the counter, to a different receptionist, and said "My appointment was at 2:00. I was told to be here early to check in, which I was. After a fairly long wait, I came back up to verify I was still in cue, where I was ignored, then dismissed. I've waited over 45 minutes and now I'm done. Your office should look up the CARE part of medical care! I have no problem waiting. I'm used to the waiting for doctors...but you're not going make me wait AND rude on top of it! read more

When I arrived I was greeted by friendly and efficient reception staff and the waiting area was clean, neat, orderly and professional. I was called into the procedure room within 10 minutes of my scheduled time where I met the technician, Tamara. This was my first bone density scan and she fully explained the procedure and maintained a cheerful conversation throughout. I seldom give "5 star" reviews on anything, but this one is well and truly earned. I would recommend South Sound Radiology to my family and friends. read more

I normally never write reviews but If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT use this clinic. They are trying to bill me for an ultrasound I already paid for 8 MONTHS AGO. I have called numerous times and have been told that I don't owe anything. Then get a call a few weeks later saying I have an outstanding balance. I ignore it because I figured it was a mistake then I get a letter in the mail saying it's going to collections when I have proof I paid for it. I rarely give good reviews unless they are noteworthy, and WELL DESERVED. If I'm going to take the time to tell people how I feel it's generally because I'm NOT pleased. I never give average reviews, everyone is average. In this case I was well pleased with the service from the front office. There was a glitch in the "doctors order" that was sent over which was not their fault (originally a CT which the insurance kicked back) we tried to work through it without success which required me to come back a second time for an MRI. The young woman Radiologist from my first visit was much more pleasant to deal with than the young man I drew on my second visit and I thought his radiology report was somewhat "boiler plate" and generalized otherwise my 4.5 star review might be a 5 (a first). South Sound Radiology's Billing department is horrible!! Everytime I would go in for an Imaging appointment, I always present them with BOTH my insurance cards. My 1st insurance covers the majority of the payment, then my 2nd insurance covers the rest. So basically i dont have to pay anything! No Copay! Still everytime they ONLY BILL my 1st insurance and play dumb! They even sent a bill to my address only 1 time and then after only 30 days they sent it to collections! I've called them several times telling the Billing department that I again spoke with both insurances and they told me to have South Sound Radiology bill each of the insurances. I get told, "Ok, we will bill them, dont worry about it." Then what comes in the mail? Another bill!! I am so done with calling them over and over trying to explain to them How to do their job! Seriously do not go to South Sound Radiology. They basically lie about billing both your insurances and when they dont get their money in time "from the insurance company", they bill you and then if you do not pay them within 30 days, they send you to collections!!!!!! read more

I've been here twice. The front desk staff are always polite. The first tech was ok. Not very friendly, but then, it is such a weird dynamic to have a stranger be handling body parts of mine to diagnose potentially serious health issues! The second tech was much friendlier. They gave me the results of the second exam right away, which I really REALLY liked!!! The doc was very nice, but talked way to fast and was a little whirlwind. I liked how clean and well lit it is. Having had double breast cancer my oncologist ordered a breast ultrasound for me with SSR. Twice they told me I had to have a mammogram and when I informed them that I had already had one and they had the images they then asked if I was having any issues. I told them no and I was then informed that the technician would not do an ultrasound as there were no current issues !!! Everyone there was friendly, helpful and professional, except the Dr. I was shocked when the radiologist entered the room to perform my procedure, dressed as if she was going to a nite club. Everyother staff member wore scrubs or a lab coat. This young Dr. wore a very short little black lace dress, 4 inch heels. When she entered the exam room my jaw dropped, I wondered to myself, did she just come from a nite club? or going to one after my procedure? Why no lab coat? I was referred to South Sound Radiology by my Neurologist for an MRI/MRA and to Multicare for an EEG. My experiences with both were vastly different. Multicare treated me like a patient, South Sound Radiology treated me like a sales call. I set up very short term payment plans with both Multicare and South Sound Radiology. Multicare was helpful, understanding and made it clear that they would do their best to avoid creating financial stress for me. They set up my payment plan in a single phone call, sent my billing out on time and gave me multiple options for paying my bill. Multicare's billing department was also available after 5pm when I had questions. South Sound Radiology was the exact opposite. When I called to make a payment plan the provided one option regardless of circumstances. I could not set up a payment plan over the phone, I had to wait for their letter and then send it back. It reached me after my first payment was due. They apparently failed to enter it into the system properly, even after I had made my second payment, and consequently I did not get a third bill. If I could rate this -star I would. The scheduling of my daughters appointment was extremely difficult. No one knew what they were doing. We arrive so excited for my daughters baby ultrasound to see measurements of her baby that is due in 2 weeks. We tried to make small chat with the technician she would not say anything to us. When she completed the ultrasound she took it to the dr to read. She came back and said your good to go. The service here is terrible and we will never be back. read more
