Had STSS install my solar about 7 years ago. Was supposed to have 2 cleanings/maintenance per year for the first 5 years then 1for the next 5 years. Was only able to get them to come out twice the first 2 years then stated that they were too busy to come out and scheduled me 6 months down the line, which was the following year. If I could give a NEGATIVE star, I would. Our solar panels were installed at the end of 2023. This company was fine through the process and the first 6 months but trying to request solar panel cleaning (part of the contract with them) has been more than difficult. The business phone does not connect. Was able to contact someone through a different phone that was given to us during installation. Was told he would get back to us ASAP but have not heard anything. (It's been 12 days since that call). Make up your own mind but I have major buyers remorse, not for the solar panels, but for hiring this company. read more

To avoid being labeled unreasonable or unempathetic I'll start with a few positives: * Noah M, David C, Tina A, Nicole A, Natasha L, and the entire Engel Electric team (outsourced electrician/company that did the majority of the install work) are good, nice people who are trying their best to do the right thing. It's unfortunate they're not empowered to do more to help STSS customers. * Our system is now fully operational (though it took 16 months, and a lot of client driven project management). Of the TWELVE payments owed to us they only sent 2 (and are now completely unresponsive, the owner even changed his email address). * After months of chasing the owner in an attempt to close out the project we've chosen to retain legal counsel to help us pursue the matter to the fullest extent necessary. The service here is non-existent. They take your money and then disappear. I had solar installed by them about 2 years ago and have developed a leak in my roof, resulting in water damage in my attic and master bedroom ceiling. They came out once to "fix" it. All they did was send a couple of what seemed like day-laborers, and they "had to go to Home Depot to get the stuff needed" to fix it, and (as I found out later) placed superficial caulking where they are bolted to the roof. I painted the ceiling in my master bedroom, assuming the issue was resolved. It was not, with more water stains appearing after the next heavy rains. My calls to the company have ranged from "Someone will call you" to "we don't do residential work anymore" to no answer at all and no return calls. I have emailed them, having to resort to contacting sales, with a few brief responses, not answering most of my questions, still no return calls from any type of management, and still no resolution. To add to this, we have had torrential downpours the last several days here in San Antonio, with more predicted. Here is the latest email exchange (read bottom to top). I'm in the process of trying to get my roof replaced but they keep giving me the runaround about coming to remove and replace my solar panels. It's written in my contract but it seems like they're trying to avoid doing it. It's hard trying to get a hold of someone. My wife and I recently moved from California to the RGV. Our previous home had Tesla Solar panels and the product made by Tesla was excellent. I received a quote from a company in the RGV, but the company was unable to provide Telsa panels. I was in the process of signing a contract with "the other company" when Jacob Yarbrough and Rene Garcia came to my door. Jacob said he was a representative from South Texas Solar Systems Company. I advised Jacob I was already in the process of signing with another company. Jacob said he could beat the price offered to me by "the other company." I let Jacob in and told Jacob I would most likely go with the other company, but I would hear him out. Jacob beat the competitors' price and was also able to get me Tesla panels. Jacob also stated he would be able to get an EV port. The EV port had me thinking about the value of our home going up. Electric cars are the future and if I had a charging port installed that would definitely increase the value of our home. Everything Jacob advised me his company could do, the company did. My panels were installed in April of this year (2022/28 panels). The crew from S.T.S.S. was top notch. This crew did everything. I have an HOA and Agustin Pacheco provided all the needed paperwork to my HOA board. I did not have to do a thing. My installation process was effortless. I still stay in contact with Jacob and Agustin. Great people in general. I've had no problems with my solar system. As for my EV port. I haven't received it. Now I'm confused. I pay my loan as promised. I get my Tesla panels, but I don't receive my EV port. I contacted Jacob, who no longer works for the company. Jacob apologized for the delay but also stated he no longer worked for the company. I contacted Agustin who stated he is trying his best to get the product. Agustin stated he will contact me as soon as possible when the EV port comes in. It's December. Nine (9) months of paying for a product I haven't even received. How can a company treat a paying customer like this? I'm shocked. It's clear the person I was working with is no longer working for the company. It's clear the company now has someone running it who is incompetent. I would love to give this company a great review because the people I originally worked with took care of business and came through on their product. I would seriously investigate who will be doing the job for you from this company. It's clearly not dependable people like Jacob and Agustin. I would seriously find out what company Jacob works for now. I know for a fact if Jacob is working for the company the job will be done professionally and correctly. It used to be a time when companies would continue to stay in contact with the customer long after the customer purchased the product. I guess this company only takes the money and runs. I would highly advise you not to use South Texas Solar Systems. When we chose South Texas Solar Systems in May 2022, we decided to get solar panels, 2 power walls and new breaker boxes. At the time, the power walls were out of stock so we knew we would have to wait months before the system would be up and running. After we signed, our sales rep told us that, even though they did not have the power walls yet, we should go ahead and get the solar panels on the roof while they had those in stock in case they had a shortage of those once the power walls arrived. We took his advice and they hired a crew to put the solar panels on our roof. Immediately after they went up, we started getting notices from the bank financing our loan that we needed to start paying our full monthly payments. We called South Texas Solar Systems to understand what was going on because the loan contract we signed says we would not need to start paying until ALL of the equipment was installed and we were clearly still missing our power walls and breaker boxes. The only reason they could start charging us early was if all work was completed but the city was slow in coming out to approve the final inspection and turn on power. They acknowledged that they should not have submitted paperwork saying work was completed to the bank and reimbursed us for the first 2 months of our payments. After that, they told us they would no longer be reimbursing us monthly, but would instead pay us one lump sum when the job was complete. It took another 10 months before work was finished and now they refuse to answer our calls and the owner has changed his email so we get a bounce back message. They still owe us around $3,500. In addition, the reason we chose South Texas Solar Systems was because they said they would do twice a year cleaning and inspection of the panels (for the first 5 years) and once annually for another 20 years (as a differentiator from other companies). The first cleaning was originally scheduled for Oct 30, 2023. They "no call, no showed" and we have not been able to get them to reschedule us yet to come out for a cleaning. If you are looking at getting solar for your home, do not trust South Texas Solar Systems. read more

They are liars, don't care about the paper trail they leave when lying to you, will take your money and stop showing up for install dates, give you excuses every time, not give you your rebate and screw up almost every part of your install. They put the wrong mounts, tried repeatedly to trick my into a different Powerwall than I wanted and then wouldn't explain that there may be better ones, yelled at me over the phone and are not claiming to not know how to complete the project and have maliciously shut off my power for over three days. Wish I could go less than a star. This is an untrustworthy company. They sold us a system with a 100% return guarantee. Now it comes to light that that isn't the case. They are saying that it was not a guarantee and the sales reps misrepresented what could be provided. After the hail storm in April one of the panels was shattered. Their tech said it was still functional and producing as normal. Not true. The very next month our bill went up and the next and the next. They said send us your bills and we will reimburse you. Again, not true. They are now saying there is nothing they can do. The inverter blew recently and it took them over a month to notice it and they still won't reimburse us stating it was the part they bought. Don't use them if you want quality goods and quality customer service. read more

We bought solar from this company almost 2 years ago. We had it taken off 2 months ago. It didn't function properly and we not only had the solar bills we also had high electric bills!!! South Texas Solar systems recently installed My Solar Panels They did an extremely professional job they were in and out in what seemed to be record time to me. There crews are extremely professional and courteous and very very knowledgeable of the equipment they are installing. On my previous house I had Green Solar Technologies out of California install my solar panels it was over six months before I had solar power at my house only to find out they did not sell me enough panels I was approximately 14 panels short so I still was getting $150 electric bills. Of course they had 1,000,001 excuses and I never got 14 more panels. With South Texas Solar systems I got the exact amount of panels I needed my last electric bill was $22 I would recommend South Texas Solar system to anybody considering Solar Panels. read more

I've had my panels for over a year and they are operating as I was told. Also, I had to say something about the 1 star person, Miguel. I asked and was told it was false information. The company person he named is not a criminal, has never been arrested, or be charged, or anything. It's not that hard to look people on google either. Ask if you have concerns. Had STSS install solar about 65 days ago. My experience is much different than most. Maybe it's because of my previous solar in California. I came to San Antonio with Military. Great city. I found that not only was STSS twice as fast as the average solar installation in San Antonio, but they have a system that absolutely avoids double billing. When you get charged for both your solar and your CPS bill simultaneously. Such overbilling is my pet peeve & STSS model avoids this problem which is prevalent with most all other solar companies. As for support STSS has been spot on. While support after the install should be nil, because good solar requires ZERO maintenance, STSS is local. Their office and wearhouse are local. Their installers are employees not subcontractors and you can walk into their office and see bricks, mortar and millions of dollars of product on site. Go try that with another so called local solar company. The half dozen other companies I investigated with A+ internet ratings all worked out of very dirty or empty office spaces. The other company who claimed to have a local warehouse was a dirty disgrace. Pre install and checking up with STSS was great. Thanks STSS. My take is, STSS is for the more demanding solar client.
