I recently used Southbridge Taxi to get from Charlton to the Boston airport. I called the day before I needed to go, and everyone that I spoke with was very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the day of my ride my address (which is unique!) was not entered correctly into the GPS by the driver/owner (Tony). This led to him being about 30 minutes late for my pick up time and got things off on the wrong foot. Thankfully though, I gave myself a bunch of extra time to get to the airport so I wasn't late at all for my flight. I have used this service five or six times over the last year. Each time, there has been a problem of some sort, certainly with punctuality, and sometimes with whether they showed up at all. This morning was the last straw. The service is run by a mixed-culture couple who have several children. As such, they have family obligations, and are juggling their work with their family's needs. This is fully understandable. The husband has limited English ability, and his behaviors are not always comfortable according to Western etiquette, which is also understandable. I understand that they are struggling to meet the needs of their family and of their taxi jobs. They are a one-couple taxi service, filling a gap in taxi service in the Southbridge area, and as such, are needed. I have always showed them appreciation. But these people lie constantly, and it is that that I can no longer tolerate. This morning, they didn't answer their two phone lines. Then the wife called, and said that she was at an appointment, and would be at my home in forty-five minutes. When she was over fifteen minutes late, I called her, and she told me, "Oh, you see, I'm at the hospital with my husband. Do you still need a ride?" I signed off. Then, fifteen minutes later, her husband called with an apology, and said something partially unintelligible that involved giving blood at the hospital and a problem with insurance. While I am willing to believe this, why didn't his wife tell me that her errand involved a hospital visit? Hospital visits are notorious for long waits. I would have understood, and would have called another taxi service. They were 100% insensitive to the gross inconvenience and distress that their irresponsible behavior had caused to me. This was on top of the constant excuses that both husband and wife gave me whenever the service was late or absent, which was every time I used it. It calls into very serious question their credibility, to say the least. I have tried my best with them, even giving them expensive home-sewn gifts with every fully paid ride, and I can do no more. We badly need another taxi company in this region. We are desperate for one, and that is why we tolerate this extreme incompetence and inconsideration on their part. But despite that, I will never, ever use this taxi service again. read more

I didn't want to give them any stars. I called them five days in advance and told them I needed to be picked up at 830 in the morning for a funeral, they ended up showing up an hour late and I was late for my stepmothers service. When they finally showed up to pick me up I told them that I didn't need their services. I ended up calling sturbridge taxi and they were there within five minutes. My daughter ended up getting car sick from not having enough time to stop at McDonald's to eat. The worst part is that the southbridge taxi co in .1 miles from my house. Very unreliable. read more

If it was possible to rank a company 0 stars I would. This is an incredibly unprofessional company. I called for a cab, was told it would be a 15 minute wait, and when I called back 40 minutes later, the driver told me he didn't think I was serious and he wasn't coming. In addition, neither he nor anyone else at his company could come now because they were busy. If you can possibly use another cab company, I highly recommend that you save yourself from their incompetence. read more

I was stuck after my rental car broke down on the masspike westbound. The tow company recommended me to call Southbridge taxi and livery. They were fast, efficient, and the car was clean and also the driver was so nice and friendly. He brought me to a hotel in Sturbridge so I could get a good night sleep. The next day I called them back and they were there quickly. I have never experienced such a great taxi service as SOUTHBRIDGE TAXI AND LIVERY. This was a horrible experience . My daughter 16 had gone out to do community service , when she was done for the day I called the taxi service to pick her up and take her home . I called at 11:55 am on a Sunday . At 12:31 om she was still there waiting , getting nervous . So she decided she had waited long enough and said she was going to just walk home . I immediately called the taxi company back , was sent to a voicemail . As I was waiting for the cue to start leaving a message the dispatcher called my home number . I was told by the dispatcher that the taxi was there and that my daughter needed to come out of the building . This was at 12:32pm . I informed the dispatcher that my daughter had just left the building , as she was tired of waiting , and was walking home now . I was told by the dispatcher that she would contact the driver and find out exactly what happened , and call me back . At 12:48 I called the taxi service back asking what happened , and why I didn't receive the call back I was told I would get . I got the excuse first off it is Sunday , and we only have one driver .Then she patched me through to the driver . The driver insisted he was there , yet he never saw the one girl leaving the building as everyone had left the place . My daughter when she left the Senior Center on Chestnut St. , she only saw delivery trucks in the parking lot . No taxi anywhere in sight . Again I got the excuse there is only one driver on Sunday . I also got he was there as I got my call from the dispatcher , asking that my daughter come out of the building . Basically I got the run around , my daughter had to walk home because Southbridge Taxi left her stranded , very unprofessional company . First if there is going to be a wait longer than 15 minutes then that should be conveyed to the customer . If they are having difficulty handling the volume of need , then perhaps they should consider bringing on another driver or two . They really need to change their website where it promises prompt , quick pick service , and they make false claims that customer service is a main concern of theirs . Maybe I am a bit spoiled having come from Worcester , where I never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for a taxi . And if there are any concerns that it might be a longer wait , dispatchers call you right away . Taxi drivers in Worcester when they arrive pull right up to the entrance , they wait for 7 minutes , then they beep the horn and wait again , another five minutes . Then taxi drivers in Worcester call dispatch to call the client . They wait for dispatch to contact them before they leave . Unfortunately for me I now live in Southbridge , MA so not many choices on the week-ends . But I know during the week despite it costs a bit more ; I will be using Sturbridge service they show up promptly , never have to wait long . If they are at a point and time where a wait would be longer than 15 minutes , you are told right away . I wish Sturbridge Livery was open on the week-ends . Southbridge Taxi awful , awful , awful and no way to give them no stars . read more
