I was always told this place is ran by power tripping ranger masters. My first trip here and I didnt see that. They do have some rules a little excessive in my opinion, but hey- they're all about the safety; cant be mad at that. As long as you're safe and willing to follow the rules, you'll have a good time. Some of the clientele was a little snobby thou. The guy next to me with a single shot 22 was constantly complaining about "all the brass" from my rifle. I guess no one should have a 30 rounder, And yes my rifle spits brass far. It's a gun range dude, stop your crying. He tried to puff his little chest... really? At a place where everyone is armed? You want to start a argument? That tells me all I need to k ow about you. So- watch out for these types of folks here; haven't ran into this at any other range, was odd. A couple other people seemed put off by another guy with a Kalashnikov... again; public gun range people, stop crying. The range its self was very clean and alot of staff. Made it a little easier to keep watch over my family shooting with the officials watching everyone to make sure no one was getting crazy/dangerous. I would easily say if you know how standard firearm safety, the right kind of safety, how to correctly handle a firearm, and you're familiar with basic range rules, it wont be to big of a stretch for you here. Its WAY closer than any other outdoor range for me, unless you count wildcat type... not for me anymore. read more

My first time to a range since 2019. Excellent experience as shot over 400 rounds of .3006 and .223. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Excellent facilities with normal restrooms and even a small store with snacks/drinks. I would recommend it as safe pistol and rifle range. read more

WORST SHOOTING EXPERIENCE IN THE AREA!!! This Pima County Range has a well deserved reputation for being the "safest" range in Tucson (and that's good!)...but the degree of barking, alarm-ringing nastiness that they bring to the execution of those safety measures just kills the experience! 2) they shoot on a 30 minute rotation that doesn't start at a specific time (i.e 8:00am on the hour) so, if you get there just when the 15 min. "cease fire, re-organize and clean up" period is ending, you actually have to wait 30 minutes to actually shoot. 3) While the monitors on the firing line are generally helpful and friendly, the Rangemasters are (I'm not going to use the word here but it starts with an "A" and ends with an "ES"). It has been years since I've had the time to go to a range. I work odd hours. Well, after recently moving to the area, I decided to check this place out for a little bit today. Every single person I encountered was very friendly and welcoming. There was absolutely nothing that I can complain about with this place. The range officers were helpful and super friendly. The lady at the register was very informative. The facility itself is wonderfully well-kept. I will definitely be coming back again soon! read more

If you go make sure that any women in your group are unattractive and be prepared to tell the range safeties to F off. I took my wife and mother-in-law out there so that they could familiarize themselves with my wife's new pistol and fire a few of my guns. We made the mistake of letting one of the safeties give a shooting tip. Well that ended up being a BIG freaking mistake. It turned into TWO fun filled hours of this one trick pony tripping all over himself as he hovered around my wife, showering her with complements, tips, and unsolicited shooting advice. Funny, he never had any sage wisdom or empty complements for my mother-in-law. Dude didn't get the hint when I made the point that his help was not needed by putting 2 mags cleanly into the neck of my silhouette. He loved to run his mouth. He bragged about all his instructor qualifications, bragged about his fancy $200 hearing protection, bragged about his gun collection. At first it was awkward, then it became comical, and eventually it just came off as pathetic and irritating. Meanwhile there was a family next to us with 5 kids that could've better benefitted from his "special" attention. Leave people the hell alone and let them put rounds down range. You're there for one reason. Safety. You're not our shooting buddy nor would you be. read more

Happy to be the first to review this shooting range! I was here on Thursday and tried to check in but it wasn't listed so I submitted the business to Yelp. Glad they added it. This is a well run and extremely safe place to take you firearms to shoot. It is run by Pima County and operates totally by volunteers. It's a great place to take your children to learn how to safely operate firearms. The volunteer Range masters oversee every aspect of the firing line at all times. You can shoot rifle at 50, 100 and 200 yards. You can also shoot pistols at 25 and 50 yards. Across from the rifle and pistol range is an archery range and a skeet range for those who want to try their skills shooting clays. To use the range it's only $8 for the day and they provide wood backings to put your targets on and have sandbags and other rests to use while shooting your firearms. They sell paper targets and rent other equipment like rifle rests, spotting scopes and chronographs for the more experienced shooter. Having a gun range in the local community like this keeps people from shooting and practicing with their firearms in public places, think safety! It also keeps all of the associated trash like brass, targets and cardboard out of public parks and forests. Oh and by the way they only take CASH, so make sure to hit the ATM before you go! Good shooting range. They have a large amount of shooting stations, plenty of staff and it is well managed. I think it is 8$ to shoot but well worth it for a safe, supervised day at a clean range. Range has target locations from 5 yards to 50 yards for pistols, 100 yards & 200 yards for rifles. They will let you get on paper with rifles at the pistol length range, which is nice too. read more

Very safe range. Read the rules and read them again. The safety zone is the hardest concept for new attendees to grasp, but after a few trips to this range, you will get it. Price is very affordable if you buy 5 punch cards at a time. Spread these out among friends and you all get the best deal. This is a county range, meaning that it is your range. Enjoy it. read more

This range is pretty good. The hours are weird but the price is affordable. I believe they only take cash or check so come prepared. I read some reviews on Google about the RSOs being jerks, but I didn't experience anything like that. Most ranges are very binary -- right or wrong -- and there is a reason for that. I did see a couple folks violate rules and were informed which rule the violated and why that rule is important. Don't like it, then don't break the rules! My main issue with the range is it is all open down the line. The pistol side doesn't even have stalls. Usually that isn't really a big deal until you have Slim Shady doing mag dumps with a Glock next to you like I did. I wanted to shoot the rifle side, but there was a waiting list, so I just kept it to 50 as you can shoot rifles on the pistol side as well. I would like to come back during the week to see if it is less crowded and to possible avoid the weekend gunnit crowd. read more

I don't care for this range. I am a firm believer in firearm safety and have been to many ranges nationwide. I don't care for their timed shooting intervals and their one minute out call for them to clear the line. The affect that this has is to rush your shots before they call the line clear which can make for a hazardous situation. The pistol side on some days is extremely crowded in the bays which seems to be unsafe as well. I understand the "safety zone" when the line is clear so individuals are not handling any weapons after they have checked and made sure all weapons are clear, but when you're picking up your brass they will violate you if you place the empty casing on the table. The whole time I was there I was constantly thinking about their rules and trying not to violate them. I had multiple handguns and I had a few on the table (in the bay). After I was done shooting one of them I placed it in the case, took it to the shelves where I had my range bag, put it in the range bag, took another handgun that was in its case, walked it over to the table (in the bay), and I was warned that if I was to bring another pistol to the bay that I was going to be ejected from the range. I was scratching my head on how that was unsafe but just accepted that was just another one of their rules. On another occasion, I was firing my 500 magnum at a target that was around 25 yards away. The range officer said I needed to use a taller target because the rounds were hitting the ground and going over their burm. Just another thing to think about along with all of their other rules while I'm trying to focus on being safe and firing my firearms. Another thing I've noticed with not just this range but others around Tucson is there are never any wooden walls in between the bays. This would alleviate having to use their nets to prevent casings from striking other shooters, and a lot of the time the casings just go over the nets which makes them pointless. read more

In Summary: Not worth the risk of ruining your shooting day. Physically a nice facility... run by jerks on a power trip under the guise of safety. Basically a good ol' boys club. The Reason: Not just a one-time bad experience. The range is close to me but by the 4th visit I was done. I'd rather drive 20 min. extra. I'm over 40, grew up in MT, hunting, shooting, a member at several MT ranges. Not a novice, NRA member, shot at Tucson Rifle Club, Tucson Mtn Park, taken the CCW course at Pistol Marksmen, even the old range that used to be on Valencia Rd. ....never any issues of any kind with range staff. I'm just your standard everyday marksman that enjoys shooting w/o all the hype. I'm also a mechanical engineer so I'm definitely not blind when it comes to the hype. 1st time I went to SE Regional Park Shooting Range was when they first opened years ago after the Valencia range closed. I thought it was ok but observed that staff seemed a little over-zealous in their attitude toward some other shooters. But I though "fine just keep to yourself...safety first"...no problem . Recently a friend who was getting into shooting wanted to meet at SERP cause it was close by. Well I can say from our last two visits that the staff culture and superior attitude has DEGRADED SIGNIFICANTLY. Unlike any other range the staff hovers waiting for anything they see as an infraction. With no explanation they take great pride in yelling for you to "stop!" So, bewildered you stop. ...then they give you directions (like you are a child) and never explain the "violation" they saw. I found it pointless to ask for any justification for the hyper behavior as it was clear they enjoyed making you feel as an inferior outsider...even when safety is not the issue. Note: In my case I'd barely reached my assigned lane and all my guns/gear was still locked up inside my range bag! It is ridiculous and degrading treatment of paying customers. I've read some of the other reviews and am glad (yet sad) to see I'm not alone in this observation. I have 8 and 10 year old boys learning to shoot. I'd NEVER take the chance of exposing them to SEPR's crew. Imagine what they'd do to the spirit of a young shooter in the name of pride! read more
