The very worst Gun Counter customer service in the area. Stood at the gun counter while a person before me was being helped. After waiting 11 minutes with three other employee's working the gun/optic counter and just seeming to be having a BS session not 15 feet away while not one of them even inquired if i had been helped yet. I finally gave up, and walked out. I bought the Rifle I wanted to purchase at Murphy's. I paid an extra $25.00 but the service was fantastic. I will never go back into Sportsman's again and with Bass Pro soon to open at the Tucson Market Place, I hope they put Sportsman's Warehouse out of business. They totally suck. Bought some bear spray to deter stray dogs. I decided that upon reading about it, but it was detrimental to animals Health decided to exchange or get pepper spray. Was unable to return an unopened package. They don't allow returns on this product. I always thought said if it was unopened and you had a receipt that you could return things. I was in the neighborhood and had some time to kill on a Monday evening, so I decided to check out Sportsman's Warehouse. There's a large selection of items, some of which I was surprised to see in the store. It's not usually difficult for me to find something to spend money on in a store like this. I believe I saw one other customer in the store, so employees were in the majority. No one acknowledged me, even the employee in the same aisle. I did pick up something small that I was looking for that didn't require interaction with staff. Maybe I don't look enough like a sportsman or they think they're too big to fail. I'd rather shop local, but I can't see driving on hour for this level of customer service. The cashiers were very nice! read more

More and more Sportsman's doesn't have what I want. Staff never offers a solution. Staff is very unhelpful and seem increasingly less trained. I'm tired of this store - wish there was an alternative close by. Most recently was there with my son buying a rifle, scope, rings and gun case. Staff was clueless. This Tucson location is really a nice one. I was amazed at all the selection of just about everything. My other half and I are working on getting camping gear together and you bet I found just about everything we need. Tents, sleeping bags, stoves, lanterns, fishing gear for him at all price points. Since my guy is very tall, sleeping bags his size are hard to find. That wasn't a problem here and we found a few and in cotton too! Yessss! They have loads of clothing for all outdoor activities and shoes. Guess who found pants his size and length? Yup, He did and they're nice ones. What I love here is they give you information on lots of activities like fishing and of course firearms. The decor? Lots of taxidermied animals. And the sales people are helpful. This place has completely gone down the drain since it opened, being the only other customer there I grabbed a number and waited for the associate to finish with the customer they were helping, 45 min later he finishes and is approached by a different customer who had just walked into the store and didn't even bother grabbing a number nor was the next number even called. I waited another 45min while the customer went on about his personal life not even asking about firearms (Didn't make a single purchase). I already had my mind set on a revolver and was ready to just go through the long wait of a background check.. Finally almost 2 hours later I handed my ID over and chose the revolver and asked him to run it on my credit card I have with them (I've done this multiple times before) he tells me there's no way to do that. Me thinking policies may have changed I take the loss and decide to leave. On my way out I decided to try my luck buying some taffy with my card on file with the service people in the front of the store, a young man maybe 20 years old takes my ID and finds my card and runs it. I asked him to get his manager and I asked her if I could do the same process at the firearms department which she said yeah. I go back and confront the man and he simply said "well I'm clocking out so they can help you." Dude just didn't want to deal with customers. Apparently this location has 5 Mikes so even if a complaint is made they can't pin point it to a specific one. Pretty strategic. read more

I Have been a long time customer and just went to look at some guns and maybe get some ammo. .... as I was walking out a new representative asked me if I found everything I needed and I said no so he walked me to the new area and was Extremely helpful .... this guy didnt stop helping people after he helped me ... I wish I got his name .. I was very impressed because he was so knowledgeable and only worked there a month !! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION ... I'm a long time customer of sportsman's warehouse and have enjoyed buying items around their shop, however their gun department is just plain unhelpful. I'm in the market for a hunting rifle and stopped by the store at 4pm and they had a long line at the counter, so I decided to come back later in the day. I returned at 8pm to see only a few other customers at the counter, I was hopefully I'd be helped quickly. For 45 minutes the associates spoke amongst themselves and to 1 other customer without even acknowledging me! At 9pm the store was closing. I walked out of the store wondering if I were invisible? The gun sales associates are definitely knowledgeable, but I agree with other reviews that their customer service at the gun counter needs a complete overhaul! read more

jeff b i purchased a ruger security 9 on line with laser date 7/24 went to tucson store on 7/26 found and bought the same gun without the laser the store canceled the 7/24 order. they have not refunded my monies 359.00 i spoke with online customer service and they confirmed that the order was canceled but no refund issued??? Went to Sportsman's yesterday to get a casting rod. Although I've done a lot of spin casting, I needed help with these rods and, especially, bait casting reels. Mike in the fishing Dept. was a tremendous help. He steered me through the maze of the many rods in stock. More important, he gave me a lesson in setting up a reel (a lot more complicated than setting up a spinning reel for sure). Then, with a rod & reel all set up for in-store demonstrations, he gave me a lesson in casting. Later when I could practice on my own, it was doggone clear that I had a lot of work to do before I catch my share of striped bass in Maine -- but Mike gave me a big head start. Mike' is patient with novices and, as a retired competitive fisherman, he's extremely knowledgeable. Not really a particularly unusual experience at this cool store where everyone is helpful, but remarkable nonetheless. Mike will help you out too. read more

I can see why this place has so many 1 star reviews. I went in today to get some information and look at some handguns. I am a middle aged female. There was nobody at the counter; neither customers or employees. I took a number and stood there. Eventually 2 guys came up to the counter and wanted to see some rifles. They came after me. They didn't take a number. The staff person came to help them while I continued to stand there. It is clear that you employ people that don't know how to provide proper customer service to ALL customers. Clearly you cater to MEN...hence the name of your store. I asked the greeter MAN when I left if this is how the process is supposed to go at your store and he said not usually, but "have a nice day". WTF. I will never go back and I will be buying my firearm at another store that realizes that women DO have money to buy guns to protect us from MEN. read more

Your service e has been negligent and disgusting. I have called 16 times spoke to assistant manager Mike and manager Brook who are condescending and rude. I needed help with a refund for a semi automatic rifle that said it was picked up and they think it's a laughable matter saying that would never happen, yet I have an email saying it did. I've been hung up on, laughed at. And overall this is the worst customer service experience I have had in my life. I have called the police to help me because I don't know what to do. Less than ZERO. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Five employees standing behind the gun counter (including the manager) watching the only employee who was actually working. They let myself and another customer stand there for thirty minutes without saying a word. When they started leaving I asked if anyone was working and the manager told me they were stacked with paperwork. If they were indeed busy (they did not look busy, eating snacks and joking around) why didn't they speak up earlier, or at least acknowledge us. I've been to this location three times now and each time my eyes get bigger. Sportsman's is a great place for outdoor activity. They have a huge and varied inventory of tons of stuff and stuff that you probably wouldn't even have thought of. They have as much to offer, more in some categories, as REI and Summer Hut and the other chains like Big 5 and Sports Authority. And their prices on many items are lower. If you like camping, this is a great place to check out. They have packs, tents, bags, and all the cool stuff and more. Their tents are on display and are easy to check out. They got you covered for hunting and shooting. Long guns, hand guns, ammo, targets and accessories galore. They also have very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Well the staff throughout the store is very helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. Sportswear for men and women is available, though mostly slanted toward hunting and camping. Some outdoor activities sportswear is available as well, though not as much as at Sports Authority, which has the largest selection, I think. Fishing? Yup. They've got tons of other things that make it worthwhile to just go and explore. They even carry Innova discs (disc golf) here! And they also have portable Disc Catcher baskets. Amazing. Brook Hudson, the store manager, is without question one of the most knowledgeable, personable and PROFESSIONAL people I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I've spent a considerable amount of money at that location over the last few years, ALL BECAUSE OF BROOKE. Her attention to detail and customer focus are far beyond that of many, many others at competitor locations. In a rare instance, a customer service issue presented itself and she completely took ownership of the situation, DID NOT throw her employees under the bus and was able to present an amicable solution to the problem. Are there other places to buy some of the same gear? You bet. Could I save money sometimes shopping elsewhere? Also true. Will I be treated the same by the staff (let alone the store manager) at competitor locations? No FRIGGIN' way! There is no tracking information available; the store and corporate customer service will not help, so if your order is late, you are left sitting wondering when, and even if, you will ever receive your possessions. Great selection of outdoor gear, centered more toward the hunter/fishing crowd. But they carry tons of gear for all forms of outdoor recreation. Ammo selection is outstanding and prices are some of the best in town. Recent deer and turkey hunting trips had me back in Sportsman's a couple times back to back. Staff was great and even recognized me as a "regular". They are knowledgeable and can point you in the right direction if you have any questions. read more

If they're were a negative rating I would choose it. They're in need of some serious customer service training. Yes they where people waiting to be helped but they had quite a few people working. When I got to the counter the conversation went pretty much like this. "I'm interested in two things, this model and this one, both about totaling 2K dollars and change. "Yeah we don't have those in stock" Me "Are you going to? " Not sure, they go quick when we do". Me "Bye": I obviously will never go in there for anything after that experience. There were so many other better ways to respond and it was a major failure in customer service. I guess they didn't need my over 2K dollar planned purchase.
