One of my absolute favorite spots for a quick bite even though it is almost never on the way but when I can, I make the trip and have also introduced many family and friends to this place as well. It's a small spot but does have a decent amount of seating. Very casual in style, where you order and pay at the counter before seating yourself, and food is not served to the table so they call out your order for pick up. Menu is easy to follow: you pick a vessel and a protein, as well as your choice of toppings and sauces. You can also choose sides and drinks as well. They also have daily deals. My go-to is the HOLY SHRIMP as a SALAD bowl. I top it with cheese, caramelized onions, crispy onions, cucumber, southeast salsa, and sweet pickled cabbage. Their avocado cream is a must-have sauce and this time, I requested a little bit of their roasted peanut sauce as well. The shrimp will definitely have you saying "HOLY!" because they're so crunchy and flavorful. Not to mention, a really good size! One serving is about 5-6 large pieces of shrimp. The K.F.C. was the first protein I tried and is my second go-to choice. Service is always friendly and in general, the entire process is just so easy and convenient. We had leftovers to take home from the sandwich - good balance of flavors, sweet, savory, spicy. We were spending some time at Wonderland and were feeling a little peckish but literally all of their eateries were jam-packed with people. (Even the hot dog stand!) So I figured it was an excellent time to give Southeast Sandwiches a try. I decided to get a sandwich with Moo-Nila (braised beef) and I got that with almost all the toppings. For my sauces, I went with Signature Southeast and Kamikaze. The sandwich took a little while but boy oh boy was it ever worth the wait. It's an extremely messy concoction but it's packed with tasty toppings and delicious tastes. The meat is super tender and packed with flavor. Every bite was just a complete winner. This is a small shop in Woodbridge and looks unassuming at first. I ordered the fresh bun with the OH MY COD! As the protein. Oh my cod is a crispy deep fried cod using gluten free batter. I also made it a combo so it came with pop and sriracha powdered fries. For sauce I got the avocado crema and the signature southeast. And got everything for the toppings. The order did take some time to make since they are a small shop with catering orders and like 6 other customers. The sandwich is so big that you can easily split it with someone or take it to go for another meal. The bread to filling ratio is perfect! The bread was thin but just enough to hold everything together. The flavours is so amazing as well! The fries were the highlight in my opinion. It was so good! Especially when dipped with the chipotle sauce. Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant and I love the food. Would definitely come here again if I'm in the area. I was passing by the area last Friday and was intrigued by the raving reviews of this sandwich shop so I gave it a try and wow, the food was excellent! The 5 star rating is definitely well-deserved! I got the daily special which was a bulgogi bun with kimchi fries for $15.99 while my boyfriend got the build-your-own bun with KFC as his protein option for $10.99. Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious! My bulgogi bun was perfectly crispy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside from a meld of bugolgi, melted cheese, and sautéed mushrooms. The beef was tender and flavourful, and overall, generously portioned. The kimchi fries were also loaded with pickled carrots, kimchi, green onions, and mayo sauce. My only critique is that they were a bit heavy-handed with the mayo and I would ask for less next time. As the portions here are quite good for the price, I was full with just half of my sandwich and fries so I reheated the other half in the oven the next day and it still turned out delicious! Overall, I really like the variety in their menu and the various fresh homemade sauces that they offer. I would definitely come back to try their other menu items and recommend this place to others! They have an abundant list of toppings and sauces that they make in house. If it becomes overwhelming for you, just ask them for help. I came to Southeast Sandwiches with relatively low expectations - it's in a pretty low key spot and the $5 special sandwiches sort of tempered me given how cheap the sandwiches were. I opted for the steak sandwich on a portuguese bun, and it was incredible! The steak is more of a braised beef, but it's flavourful, hearty, and they don't skimp out here. The toppings - including pickled cabbage, crispy shallots, and cilantro - lent themselves to the name of the place (i.e., 'Southeast). The bun was good too. I do wish they had more topping options though. For instance, tomatoes, carrots, caramalized onions, mushrooms, and so on would go really well with this type of sandwich. Looking for a great place to get freshly made sandwiches in Vaughan? Look no further than Southeast Sandwiches. I came here on their 3rd day of opening. The restaurant is located in an outdoor mall, so there's plenty of parking. They also have lots of tables, which makes it very convenient of dine in. Given that they're relatively new, the ordering and preparation process was fairly slow, so don't expect to get in and out quickly. The staff suggested that the restaurant is known for their Portuguese buns, which they get from a local bakery every other day. We ordered the braised beef steak and the cod on a Portuguese bun. Those buns were stuffed and that was without the topping. You can add any toppings you want and any sauce that you want. Once the sandwich is constructed, it is then toasted on a flat top. I thought the sandwiches were tasty. The braised beef was quite savory and was my favorite of the two. The cod was delicious as well, but I thought the braised beef had a lot more flavor. I didn't think that a single sandwich alone would fill you up, so definitely get a side as well. read more

How good could a sandwich shop possibly be to warrant a 5 star average? AMAZINGLY GOOD DECOR: 4/5 Unassuming storefront & interior. They have a couple of tables available for you to sit and eat, but it's not a full dine in restaurant where they give table service or anything. FOOD: 5/5 The food hit me like a truck. You essentially choose a type of meat + a type of bread + your veggies and toppings. Similar to ordering a sub at Subway. Where it shines is A. The meat is freaking delicious, and B. The portions are huge. We got the pulled pork on 3 sliders and I only needed to eat 2 and I was full. I don't even know how to explain why it was so good but the flavours just hit right. Kinda like the impact of having banh mi boys the first time, but way better because of the level of customization. SERVICE: 5/5 they seem to have a lot of usual customers as they chat up a lot of their diners and know them by name. There was one customer that ordered the 3 tacos option and chose a different type of meat for every taco. He spent lots of time choosing toppings to suit each individual taco. Ever since my husband and I discovered this place a few months ago, we make sure to go here anytime we're in Vaughan! The chicken and pulled pork sandwiches are also pretty good. Next, the prices are fantastic! Buying the sandwiches at regular price at about $8+tax are already great but buying them for cheaper during their lunch hours is even better! They currently have a promo during 11am-3pm where you can buy their chicken, beef or pulled pork sandwiches for $5 each. Talk about an amazing deal! Also, their staff are super nice and really seem to enjoy working there. Reason for Visit: Saw this restaurant with an absurd 80+ 5 star reviews that doesn't cost ~$200 a person. Menu: I decided to try this on a Tuesday. It would be nice if they have a special for entire day once a week so dinner people can enjoy some specials too. Anyhow, I got their tacos as it was Taco Tuesday special for $2/taco. I got one of each of their promo flavors (beef, chicken, pork, jackfruit). I also decided to try some siracha fries. The jackfruit taco to me was meh. It was interesting. My favourite was their pork and beef tacos. Juicy and flavorful. Also, very interesting with the veggies they add on. Pretty as well with all the colors. Siracha fries were the bomb. Nice kick to it and their mayonnaise dip was very tasty. To be honest, I felt their fries was the highlight of my meal. Service: Exceptional. The owner KJ had a brief chat with me and I really saw the passion and joy he has in his work. I mean how rare is that, a young aspiring chef starting his own restaurant and actually genuinely enjoys his work. Atmosphere: Very neat, tidy.
