I spent one year of my undergraduate at SEU. As a student who came from out of state, it was a scary experience moving somewhere completely new. I found SEU didn't help me very much in the process of transition into a new environment. The first problem at SEU began when I was assigned to live in an 8 person dorm. It was an absolute nightmare living with the girls that I would be forced to call roommates. They had their click and had no interest in being friends with the new girls. I sadly had roommates that showed a lack of compassion and were insensitive to others. I communicated with my RA about he situations that occurred, but SEU was all big about "working things out" instead of moving me to another room. The FOOD: RUN. Preview days are a lie. I remember move in day thinking the food at Chartwells was AMAZING. However once the parents were gone the food quality dropped and hospital like food began appearing. The options lacked flavor, some pretty unhealthy, and there was a lack of seating availability in the cafeteria. I found myself retreating to Chick-Fil-A 5 days a week so I wouldn't have to eat at Chartwells. However this ended up causing me to gain 15-20 pounds and was hard on my health. Professors: Majority of the Professors I had were kind, understanding, and helpful. I will admit there was 1-2 though that were not very helpful at times. I would checkout reviews of the professors online before enrolling into a class. Old Testament was an EXTREMELY difficult class and the professor I had at the time tried to force 85% of the class to attend mandatory tutoring after school. I ended up withdrawing from this class as I knew I wouldn't pass. I took it later at a different school and passed with flying colors. Dorms: The dorms themselves are pretty nice. I lived in Esperanza which had a girl building and across the quad was the guy building. I would never suggest living in a freshman building with the bunk beds. The rooms are tiny and the walls don't block out much sound in general. Buena Vida is a fantastic chance to walk up 5 flights of stairs everyday to get to your room. The rooms are rather small for housing 4 people in a bedroom. The elevator the year I was there always seemed to be breaking down. I would've hated to have to walk that many stairs on a daily basis. Chapel: I've heard chapel has changed since I left. I wanted to wait to write a review until I was no longer a student. Getting chapel hours was not impossible but waiting outside in a long line to get in, did add to the process. From what I understand they've added more time options since I left. But I'm not 100% sure what that looks like. Counseling: ROTFL the counseling department was such a hit or miss. I went to humans services seeking out counseling as the stress I was feeling at school was overwhelming. There was a lot going on and my roommates were making my life miserable. I found myself exhausted everyday my roommates were insanely loud and didn't care who they kept awake. I wanted the school counselor to help convince the housing department to let me switch rooms. Counselor 1: The first counselor I went to, we did NOT hit it off. She gave me a piece of paper with little cartoons on it with the title "Stress Management". LOL I never went back to her. Counselor 2: She was actually really nice and agreed it seemed moving rooms would maybe be in my interest. However she suggested I try out a Church she personally had never been to that she thought I would like. I followed her advice and the Church was NOT a good fit at all and I left early. I personally think she maybe should've not recommended it without never even going there once. Housing: So what ended up happening? Thankfully I was approved to move of campus half way through the term. I convinced an on campus friend to move off campus with me to our own place. I commuted to school and life was so much better. Activities: I personally only found 1 club I was consistently involved with during my first semester. From what I understand though that club no longer exists. There are a lot of options on campus but it really comes down to finding a few solid friends. So overall I would say 3 star experience. The campus was clean, the dorms were kept clean, the Professors were overall decent, but there were some negative aspects. SEU is extremely expensive and honestly is not necessarily worth going into debt for. I would suggest trying to get a scholarship to attend here. It has pros and cons but at the end of the day is one of the nicer Universities in the area. Parking was always a problem and is still to this day extremely hard to find. read more

I loved attending school here! First of all, beautiful campus in the central Florida region. My overall experience was pretty great with classes, professors, staff, other students. People really care about you here! Great Christian atmosphere, lots of serving opportunities in the community. There's improvements they definitely could make, as no school is without its faults. The school gym hours are only for athletes, unless a few evening hours you're open. Although the gym partnership with Crunch is nice, it's a 20 min drive one away, which takes a lot of time. School communication regarding sporting events (besides football) could be better. Additionally, another meal restaurant/option on campus would be nice. read more

Not only did you show me how of little importance your students are DURING their time at your establishment, but you've succeeded in doing what I unfortunately already knew: you don't care what happens to us after. I came pleading with you to help recover important files, and what happened? Your I.T. department didn't take even five minutes to see if there was something they could do. They just decided that they can't help me. While I can take responsibility knowing I messed up with transferring the files from my old school's email, I can rest assure you that not being proactive in helping their students is their normal formula. Seu has some nice people, but overall, some of the staff do not practice what they preach. They lie, gossip, and do not forgive others if they make mistakes. The staff acts like they are perfect and do not believe in second chances or forgiveness of sins when others repent. The staff is rude and disrespectful to others; their opinions are the only opinions that matter. The staff is uncaring and unsupportive when it comes to the mental health of the students. Instead of helping a student that wants to grow in their faith, the staff kicks a person when they're down. It's the same thing with many of the students that are racist, idolaters, have premarital sex, one night stands, gossip and criticize each other behind their backs, and steal from each other. read more

School has very Strange policy of Restricting everyone, except athletes from using their on campus fitness center. So the Administration came up with the "brilliant" idea to send everyone else to a fitness center nearly 10 miles away. If you're not an athlete you can't use the campus gym, except form 6-9pm. read more

When you have an outside event, you always allow unopened water bottles for spectators to bring inside the stadium!! It's the decent thing to do! You will be held responsible if something happens to someone from a heat stroke or heat exhaustion. I always spend money at a football game, But I will not buy anything from your school. Everyone deserves to know the kind of people that are behind the leadership of the schools...what i do not and cannot believe is the unprofessionalism from the staff. And especially from the director. I was not admitted to this university because they think "im not financially fit". And academically fit either. Since i graduated it took me this much to finally find a university where i could possibly grow academically, must most importantly spiritually. The director talked to me like i wasn't worthy enough for SEU. " the time frame its been like 9 years since you graduated". Its never to late to grow academically. As a grad from class of '96, I am so proud of the advancements and wonderful atmosphere at Southeastern. I still see a strong Christian flavor and a dedication to excel. Love the improvement in the sports teams as well. I hope my daughters attend one day as well. read more

I was here for a graduation ceremony.i don't know if risk management from the school attends these events. the firework show was on the baseball field less than 300 feet away from the crowed. Everyone in the bleachers where covered in firework debris. And at the end of the ceremony they block the 2 exits so no one could leave. Now you have 1000 people in the bleachers that can't exit and where all standing in line.thank God there was not an emergency.. in these times with active shooters hitting schools who would thing it was a good item to block the 2 exits untill the graduates got off the field....poor set up and planning read more

If you're looking for a college to attend and you think SEU is the place for you, let me save you from making the worst decision of your life. I attended Southeastern University for 2 years and I regret every second of it. First of all, the school lost 3 of my thousand dollar checks. When they lost my first check I was coming into the school as a freshman and I figured it was a rare and honest mistake. Well, I was wrong. The school continued to "misplace" my checks for 3 semesters in a row. This not only showed irresponsibility, but it also hindered me from signing up for classes on time as I was not "financially cleared" for a mistake caused by the school. Next, you will notice that Southeastern University is a Christian college, but what you won't notice until you move in is that as soon as your check clears they couldn't care less about you or your relationship with the Lord. They use Christianity as a way to pull in your money. A prime example of this is their chapel policy. They require every student to attend 35 chapels and if you do not meet the requirements you are fined an absurd amount of money. This requirement not only makes chapel feel like a chore, but also takes students' minds off of worshipping. Southeastern did not put this requirement in place in hopes that students would be led to attend chapel, but instead they did it because they knew they would make money from it. I know of many other Christian Universities that require their students to write a paper or take a course to benefit their faith, but again, SEU does not care about your faith, they care about your money. Moving forward, I personally experienced a pretty traumatic event that SEU handled terribly. Last semester, my roommate was constantly threatening to harm herself. She gave my suitemates and I the dates that she planned to do these terrible things, and one day my suitemate and I entered my room to blood splattered across the floor, door, and mirror. The RD was called and the only thing she told us was to keep it quiet. The police were not called and the blood was cleaned up by housekeeping with hopes that the rest of the school wouldn't find out. My suitemate and I were very uncomfortable with how the situation was handled as it seemed that is was covered up so that the school continued to "look good." I could go on and on about many different reasons why picking this school is a mistake, but this review has to end somewhere. My advice to those of you looking to attend Southeastern University is simple- don't do it. read more

First day of classes and guess what? Covid breakout! Not very surprised though because this school takes no precautions and has large gatherings every other night. They have done an absolutely horrible job dealing with covid. Then they wonder why their transfer rate is so high. Maybe because they don't take care of their students! Stop the large gatherings with no masks! The health department needs to shut this place down ASAP!! read more

Our daughter is attending a soccer camp and we were very impressed with the dorm sizes and the campus! Extremely nice, turf, soccer field. There is a grass field as well. The coaching staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

Ok...so into my 2nd year and the school is still beautiful. New building have been erected and there are more food options now. Unfortunately, the culture of the school is becoming less and less about Christ and more and more about having the "image" of a Christ-like school. The teachers are pretty cool still in that they care about the students, the students however, wear less and less, and are cliquier and cliquier. I am a commuter and I can see this. I hope that the new SGA Pres does something to turn around the culture of the school and bring Christ, modesty, and humility back. read more

This review is only for the college of education doctoral program. I enrolled in 2017 in the curriculum and instruction program. At first, I absolutely loved the school. The campus is beautiful and there are some outstanding professors within the program. When I signed up, our cohort was supposed to complete a portfolio. In the middle of the program, SEU changed the requirements to comp exams. We were told we could all study together for 3 weeks and were given the same questions. There were 6 questions total. We all studied together and all had the same answers in our study group. I requested accommodations and at first it was a bit tricky getting them, but I was able to secure notes in place to help me remember some of the key words. I'll cut to the skinny....Dr. Deck did not like me. I was "dismissed" from the program because my writing was "egregious". I had 10 hours to graduate, spent 28,000, had a 3.6 G.P.A, 2 master degrees and was the only one dismissed out of all 17 of us. Because this is a private school, they were not required to return my writing, share my results, provide feedback about my writing. Bottom line....choose a public university. As an educator, I could never do this to a student. Hide behind the cross then beat you up with it. I wish I could go back and time and make a better choice. This school cost me more than money. read more

Southeastern University is AWESOME!!! Beautiful campus, large buildings, Baseball, Football, and so much more. Everyone is friendly. The atmosphere is great and being able to pray in class when you feel overwhelmed is priceless. I would recommend this College/University to anyone who is serious about being the best. This University has produced more successful Missionaries, Pastors and Educators since 1955 than any other school in Florida. The Instructors truly care about you making the most of your potential.
