When we walked in, there were a few other diners in the restaurant, and the staff had evidently gotten behind on clearing tables. We were seated at a table, and the hostess took our drink order. We looked at the menu (which no longer includes prime rib or BBQ) and the waitress took our orders for steaks and salads. We sat for a good 15 minutes, and then the waitress came out with our steaks. We had to ask for our salads because she had totally forgotten them! The steaks were just ok. They were covered with W Sauce, which we would not have chosen if we'd been asked beforehand. The sides were Ok, especially the broccoli and cheese, but nothing special. The waitress did ask if we wanted dessert but we declined. Sadly, unless there's a major change, we probably won't go back. The restaurant needs to get back on its game, and quickly.

There were never pictures even though we repeatedly asked. She went on vacation and the day she comes back says one donkey needed to be euthanized. We asked for pictures. It took a day to get only a head shot of the donkey and another day to get a body shot. We moved our animals as fast as we could. The pot roast was nicely shredded and tender, and the gravy was rich, flavorful, and worth every calorie. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, (he's obviously on a diet!), with fried okra and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was forgettable, but everything else on his plate was solid. Service was friendly and efficient, and this place definitely fills up at lunch, so plan accordingly. A very good roadside stop, and proof that sometimes the best meals happen when you are just out running errands.
