Recently, we had to begin he tedious process of going through documents that were over 40 years old. Realizing that there was no way that we could possibly shred 16 boxes on our own, we decided to seek help from shredding services. I found Southern California Shredding via the Yelp app and gave them a call. Their rates seemed reasonable and they were a local business, not too far from where we live. Southern California Shredding is located in the city of Lake Forest, just off of Bake. It's not that easy to find so once you locate the main building that shares space with them, drive around to the back of the business. You'll follow the driveway until you see their large red and white trucks. Park in the open spaces or pull up next to their shredding trucks. As soon as I parked my vehicle, I explained that not only did I need documents shredded, but I also wanted it done in front of me. With identity theft on the rise, you need to be diligent when it comes to protecting your personal information. They helped me unload the documents from my vehicle as we placed them inside of the bin. I'd say that we filled up 1 1/2 bins easily! I went inside to pay and then used the $5 discount from the Yelp checkin offer. I paid a total of $56 for a large amount of documents to be shred. I thought it would cost at least $100 but to my surprise, it was significantly less. When I came back to their shredding truck, they had the bin ready to shred in front of me. It was hoisted into the truck and the machine worked its magic! When the bin was lowered back onto the ground, there were some documents left inside. Their employee reached in and pulled them out. They were then tossed into the shredding truck and shred in front of me. Then they repeated the process with the next bin. I am very happy to have found So Cal Shredding. We didn't have the time, energy, or patience to shred it all on our own. It looks like I'll be making a return trip to this location for the final shredding stages of other documents. I hired this company to shred some sensitive documents I had been keeping for years. Their minimum price was lower than other quotes I received, and the young lady I spoke to to schedule the shredding was very polite and pleasant. They load the documents into a bin and then send them to the shredder in the truck. They even have a small monitor that lets you watch the entire disposal process. It's quite impressive. I requested a service quote via yelp and was told the flat rate price for 20 boxes and pickup. I asked about where to get the type of boxes needed for pickup (since my items are bagged in contractor bags). The dimensions of the boxes were provided by Donnie in the initial quote but I was asking specifically where I could get those boxes (didn't know if they provided them or what so I asked for clarification). Donnie completely ignored me. I followed up twice and was ignored. He has left the messages on read. I was pleasant, not rude or anything like that so needless to say I'm surprised that Donnie felt it necessary to respond in this way to a simple questions about boxes. Very disappointing experience. I would like to praise this company very much. If you need a shredding company this is the one you really should be calling. They are very professional very helpful. I am an elderly person disabled and a great grandma and I just had them do my shredding with accumulated of three or four years the driver Dave was very nice. He took the boxes and emptied them into the container and everything was shredded. He made sure that I able to close my garage and continued on as I am an asthmatic as well and I can't ask for a smoother professional job, especially for the elderly we collect so much sometimes we just need to start emptying out our file cabinets as they say! Three stars is generous. While making the appointment, only available days for my route, Mondays... must be busy but fine. Appointment made two and a half weeks in advance. On the day of scheduling I revived an email very explicitly stating, there is a 4 hour window. Again, not normal but fine, I want to support a small local small business so fine. The confirmation explicitly states "our shredding technicians do not have time to wait for you to ...if all material is not prepared beforehand we will have to reschedule" Then "24 hour notice or we will have to cancel your appointment " understandable. I complied, was ready, boxes set outride off the office on ground level, 14 bankers boxes to be exact. Took time to remove all the things they asked me to remove. Window comes and passes. We call, get 5 minutes. Call 20 minutes later 5 minutes driver is finishing another job. Ok fine? What are time windows for then? Called 50 minutes later to cancel due to complete disregard for their own rules, was met with attitude. I cancelled the appointment. read more
