Yay, it's #ThankYouThursday today! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the awesome optometrists, opticians, and staff at Southern Eye Care Associates in Valrico. The staff in the reception area are so kind, and very knowledgeable in letting you know what is covered under your plan. I never have to wait too long to be seen. In fact, all of my appointments have been on time. The technicians are great with getting you through each eye test station, and scanning the back of the eye with all the latest technology. It's an additional cost (not covered) for the OCT, but it's well worth it. It's highly recommended if you have a family history of glaucoma (like me). I've been seeing Dr. Hollis and Dr. Wright for 3 years now. They are both wonderful. They've been great in addressing all of my concerns, and offering great solutions. I've also been super happy with the opticians. I wasn't really able to wear progressive lenses until coming to this practice. I'm not sure why. All I can say is that every pair I've received here have been perfect. Picking out frames by myself has never been an easy task. The opticians here have always been able to find the right frames for the shape of my face. They make the whole frame shopping experience seamless and pleasant. I never feel rushed to make a decision. I never feel like they are trying to sell me expensive frames, unless I'm leaning that way. They truly have a knack for finding the right fit, and at a good price range. I don't think I've ever had an issue with the finished product. It's always a great experience! read more

I went in for my eye exam thinking it would be covered by my insurance little did I know it was not and they didn't bother to tell me until after it was done. $165 is ridiculous for an eye exam is outrageously priced and I will never ever go back. read more

Such a great place. From the front desk staff to the doctors and to the workers who assist you in glasses. Hassle free from start to finish and this is coming from someone who has anxiety about doctors visits! Shoutout to Emily for helping me find the right pair of glasses while being approachable. Very torn by my review here. I enjoy working with the actual doctors. They have the latest technology and are very bright and sincerely interested. My frustration is the front desk staff. They are INCREDIBLY RUDE. Before you even step in the door they are confrontational and just pure RUDE. I've decided to speak with the doctors about it next time we have our appointments, however, the place isn't that big and I have to believe the doctors know just how rude, cold and abrupt the front desk ladies are. Even when I have called they are rude. As well as my husband who is patient with anyone, hung up in frustration letting me know how rude the lady was answering the phone. Ya, not surprised. I'd have to guess they are family members and this is why they have no fear of losing their jobs? read more

I really like this office. Dr. Kardani takes the time to explain her findings and the results of all the tests. I've also seen Dr. HolIis and he too is wonderful. I highly recommend the small additional price (as it isn't covered by my insurance at least) of having the picture taken of the back of your eye. I had a ton of questions about everything and she clearly answered all of them. I also worked with Cathy Darling to select my frames and choose my lens options. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. She never tries to "sell" me anything - just provides what I need. This office really cares about their clients and the client experience. We've been working with Southern Eyecare Assotiates at this Valrico location for several years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

The staff is nice and helpful...I require glasses for my occupation as an airline pilot...My glasses need to be perfect from the start, so my requirements and expectations are high. I ordered a pair of glasses and it just didn't work out...I returned the first set which were progressives...I gave it the college try, however they were just awful and made me dizzy. I asked for them to be replaced for just the distance only. Better this time, but still fuzzy...I tried to wear them flying, but had to revert back to my old glasses (which were actually better at distance sharpness). I just don't think the prescription was done right and I asked for my money back. They wouldn't refund me. I don't get it...LensCrafters gets it right on the first try with just a basic exam...very disappointed with the long process with nothing but a $300 paperweight that is useless to me...So be careful with them...if your not satisfied they won't refund you... read more

Southern Eye Care is the best of the best. I've lived all over the country and had great optometrists and some not so great. I have to say Dr. Hollis is among the best I've ever had. He's always patient and takes time to understand my needs and concerns and discusses any and all options before suggesting what he thinks would be best. The office staff is always welcoming and friendly and while short-notice appointments can be hard to come by, I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for an exam after checking in - a big plus in my mind. read more

This is a very clean, professional and carrying office. The staff and doctors are efficient and explain everything. They take the time- without wasting your time! This is not a "eye-glass mill". This office is wonderful and I cannot recommend them highly enough! The lovely ladies in the front office are kind and helpful. Dr. Hollis was very nice and patient with my children throughout their eye exams. He made all of us feel all very comfortable and not rushed. My son was having trouble with his contact lenses and Dr. Hollis recommended that he switch to daily lenses. What a difference. He is no longer having issues with his lenses. Great service! Extremely friendly receptionists. I was seen in a timely manner and Dr Hollis was knowledgeable and nice. He showed me some of the images they took of my eyes....which were really neat! He also really explained what astigmatism was to me. This is a wonderful caring professional group. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are what all medical offices should be like. I was visiting in the area and tried two other optical places and found them to be difficult to deal with. All I wanted was to have someone remove a foreign body from my eye. I recently moved to this area from Virginia. I asked my eye doctor in Virginia is they would mind looking up some of the doctors in this area and give me their recommendation on who they thought would be a good fit for my family. They recommended this practice. My husband and I have seen Dr. Hollis and my daughter has seen Dr. Kardani. I am happy with both doctors and all of the staff. Love Southern Eye Care!! All the staff are caring, kind and treat you with respect. Dr. Kardani is fabulous - she takes her time and goes over everything with all of my family. The new glaucoma test is GREAT - no more PUFFS in the eye! and Dr. Kardani now checks and photographs behind the eye, which is great for tracking any changes in the future.
