They have the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had in my life! Everything I've tried there is good.

Today was first time to dine at Southern Harvest. The staff was kind and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich and Beer Battered Fries. The fries were delicious and well worth the splurge. My Reuben Sandwich was disappointing with mostly sauerkraut and very little meat. I should have made a picture of it. I expected so much more with the price of $17. My sandwich was not the Reuben posted on their Facebook Page. read more

I'm a well known foody in our family and was the person who picked this restaurant based on the reviews, but sadly, we were very disappointed. Honestly don't understand all of the 4-5 star reviews. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is similar to visiting your horder aunt. A giant freezer and lots of clutter in the entry area. The remainder of the restaurant wasn't much better. Despite that, we hoped the food would redeem them. Sadly, the food was mediocre at best. All of the food was just meh and nothing is worth a mention. The service was adequate, our waitress forgot one of the entrees and had to be reminded. To top it all off, they charged us $1.03 for a glass of water. We only noticed it after we left due to the fact they only show a bill summary when checking out. We definitely don't recommend eating here. read more

Everything is cooked fresh to order but I think they must have been having a bad day when it came to chefs or grills or fryers; not a full house and still took an 1.25. Server was a young, outwardly beautiful girl, completely apathetic which added to our not so good experience. Don't be in a hurry just in case it takes that long again. Service was great. Portions are shareable. My husband said mashed potatoes were some of the best he has had. Chicken fried steak was flavorful .... But not as tender as we are used to. Spaghetti was very flavorful... and we all loved the homemade ranch dressing on the salad. read more

We landed off here and were unimpressed. Though service was good, the restaurant was out of pretty much everything--including all of the appetizers, onion rings, lasagna, you name it. We both got pasta--I got chicken parmesan, better half got chicken alfredo. The accompanying side salad was fine, if meager, though the dressing tasted watered down (weird). The pasta was cooked decently, but the sauces didn't seem homemade and the chicken seemed right out of a bag. It's cute, it has parking, but I wouldn't return. read more

Service excellent. Food was spectacular. We had Cajun corn appetizer. So good. We had trout special. Seasoned so well and the fries and coleslaw were really good. Had the chicken Parm. A wonderful experience! Owner, Crystal, provided us with a beautiful dinner to celebrate our parent's 60th anniversary. We were able to customize the menu for 20 people including special order ribeyes. She created the perfect dessert table including a small wedding cake. All made in-house. One of her famous cinnamon rolls (HUGE and the best you will ever eat!!) was individually boxed as a favor for our guest. We were allowed in an hour early to decorate the private dining room allowing for the personalized experience we wanted for our parents. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Crystal is extremely accommodating, pleasant and easy to work with. Highly recommend for lunch, dinner or special occasions. read more

The only good thing to say about this place is, our service. Crystal was very nice and friendly. Oh yeah and the french fries my wife had with her burger were good. Cute little place with a nice country vibe. We tried the fried green tomatoes. Horrible! They were fried behold belief in oil that had to a month old. YUCK. I tried something that was a knockoff of Shepherds Pie. It was supposed to have peas and carrots in it. I found four pieces of carrots and no peas. It was covered in cheese and what was supposed to be two potato pancakes , they were not. What it was, was something fried beyond comparison in month old oil. Need-less-to-say I didn't eat them. This is more a tourist trap than anything else. Not rating the quality of the food as we looked at the menu, asked if their sandwiches came on anything but the Ciabatta bread or Rye and they said No. No other options. We were there for lunch and the other options on the menu were between 26 bucks and 35. A bit much for lunch. We had ordered ice tea and my sister had water. We politely ask for the check for the tea as we did not find anything suitable and they charged my sister 1.00 for a glass of water. When asking why they were charging for tap water she said "we just do". This might be an okay dinner place but lunch for 75 bucks for two did not interest us and the water charge was just laughable. read more

Always a favorite place for dining when we are near Fort Payne. This visit was a meeting of old friends that I had not seen in a couple of years. The staff was welcoming the second we walked in the door! Of course, we spied the delicious deserts as we walked by. We all decided on pasta that night. From the blackened chicken Alfredo to the spaghetti we all had a delicious meal. As we visited we admired the down home atmosphere and decor. Our beverages were never empty, and all of our needs were met. We were having a great time and lost track of time. They were about to start closing and the staff said don't worry we have a lot to do before we leave. We had another great visit a couple of days later too. Southern harvest is a pretty decent place for an outing. They are able to accommodate a fairly large group. The inside is nicely decorated and clean. It is a little hot in the building so I would keep that in mind. We ordered the seared ahi tuna appetizer: Very flavorful; I could taste chili powder and an assortment of other seasonings. Came with 3 slices of an English cucumber. The basil chicken pasta: Made with what seemed to be a creamy homemade cheese sauce and delicate hand breaded chicken; it was delicious. My only compliant is there was a lack of sauce and chicken in the pasta. read more

Black berry and regular lemonade was the great! Fried green tomatoes were great! Salad was large, leafy, and tasted great! The basil chicken was 4.5 star great! The mashed potatoes were very good although my ribeye was too thin and just not great. This place is not a steakhouse so I'm not gonna say it was bad because it is not their main course. We got there a little too close to the end of their business day, but they invited us on in anyway. Super friendly and accommodating! The food? Oh. My. Goodness! Did I say off the charts? We had the crab dip to start, which was nothing like anything I've ever had. My wife had the pork chops and I had the chicken stir fry. So good. A truly farm to table down home feel restaurant with ties to two band members of the band Alabama. The owners Michael and Crystal Goss teamed up with Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen whose ranches supply the beef to the restaurant. Fresh green beans came with my bbq ribs and the green beans had been picked the day before. That is fresh. We loved everything we were served. From the fried green tomatoes to the entrees to desert. Called to make a reservation as everytime we passed the restaurant, the parking lot had been full so we figured it would be a busy Saturday night. Showed up for our reservation and was told to wait. We waited for several minutes as we watched the multiple empty tables and waitresses/hostesses pass us back and forth to no acknowledgment. Last Friday was our third visit to Southern Harvest, and we had an entirely different experience from the other two. The wait staff clearly did not want to be there, and we waited over 45 minutes for our food. It was especially disappointing because (after a great deal of bragging about the place) we brought out-of-town guests with us. The food was good, but the wait and poor customer service spoiled the experience. We were so excited to have a new alternative to food locations in NE Alabama. I personally have visited 4 times. First visit, chili and salad - absolutely great. Second visit, with my husband - ordered the special and although the wait for food was extraordinarily long (45 minutes for a special)...the food was good. The third time with a friend - beef tips special and again the wait was 30 minutes or more (with maybe 3 other tables). The food was not as good - a bit oversalted and the mashed potatoes were thick and dry. The fourth, and final, time was with my family. The server was wonderful. The wait was horrible - almost an hour with 3 tables occupied. My plate of chicken stir fry was great. The chicken Alfredo was horrible - creamy water with half a chicken breast. The bbq potato special was not worthy of eating. The potato was completely cold. The meat was almost frozen. It was so cold that the butter did not even melt. The kids' chicken fingers were great. This restaurant has the potential to be something extraordinary. I believe their menu is too diverse and is making the queuing too difficult to manifest good tasting and consistent meals. As my husband said...they are 80% away from being a destination place. Why will it be our last visit? The owner. When we explained our meal, she did not even come out. She sent a server to say sorry. There is no discount for at least the cold meal. It is an example of poor management and poor vision but great potential. read more

We stopped in for lunch during the longest yard sale. The food was good we had the special ,"cheeseburger and fries" drinks and dessert added on to cost $30.I had my service dog with me and was not welcomed by the manager. After proving to him she was truly a service animal we were seated in the very back room away from other patrons. I asked why he had to be such an ass he told me he didn't want any complaints from other customers.The server was so embarrassed she kept apologizing for his actions. She also was very friendly and got a good tip for her service. The fresh bakery dessert was cinnamon roll with cream topping delicious.
