My family and I took a road trip one Saturday. We ended up in Fort Payne, TN at this restaurant. My husband chose it because of the large menu (we have some picky eaters). The food was pretty good. Our waitress seemed pretty busy, so it took her a while to bring things we asked for. We had appetizers and no plates and our waters ran out several times. My daughter's like ranch for their fries and we had to ask for that a couple times. We are pretty patient people but this was frustrating. I had the fajita trio (steak, chicken and shrimp). The shrimp were rather large and the steak was tender. I though overall it was pretty tasty. Other items we had included: a burger, sirloin steak, alfredo pasta and chicken fried steak. My family enjoyed their meals and we will most likely be back another time. read more

We live in central Alabama and always pass by on trips up north. Today we stopped for lunch and enjoyed our food. We would definitely come back to try more things on the menu because so many things sounded good. I got the Western Philly with fries and my husband got the steak tips with rice and grilled broccoli. Our toddler got grilled chicken (which was seasoned really well) and a sweet potato. Our meal came out to be around 40 bucks and we felt like the amount of food we got matched the value. The restaurant as a whole seemed kind of on par with Texas Roadhouse and Logan's. Nothing outstanding but a solid meal. Our server was incredible! read more

This has become a routine travel stop for us through northeast Alabama either going or coming. We have always had a great meal here. They have one of the tastiest hamburger steaks and salads around. Always perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their salads are good with that great Sante Fe Ranch or Thousand Island. Rolls are good. Tea is great. Great stop to relax after a drive. The service is always friendly. The place is always crowded and gives off that steakhouse vibe. read more

Rotten potato... My family stopped to have a nice meal while on vacation. It was a clean and comfortable restaurant. However, our eating experience ruined that. My wife ordered their pick 2 combo: Sirloin steak with fried shrimp that came with a backed potato and salad. All was well until she went to take a bite of her potato and discovered a huge chunk of it was totally black. When she brought it to the attention of our waitress, she blew it off saying, "You know those little black spots some potatoes have...". She offered to replace it but we had no confidence in what they'd bring out after her apathetic response. We won't be back. read more

My wife and I were passing through the area and saw this restaurant from the interstate and figured we would give it a try. The restaurant was clean and we were seated quickly. The meals we ordered were pretty good we believe the food could have been kept warmer prior to being served but all in all it was good. You know food is going to be Sub par when the menu is battered. Ordered salad no onions. Came with onions and FROZEN EGG! Ordered steak rare. Came med well, drenched in salt. We live near one in Fort Payne, AL. The food is always good and if it is not, they are always willing to accommodate with a fixed version of what you ordered. No complaints on the food at all. The major issue with this place is wait times and staffing. Its awful and so inconsistent, we basically don't even try to eat there anymore, as they seem to have a never ending perpetual wait to eat at the times a normal person would want to eat. Right after church or at dinner time? Forget about it. 1 hour wait with people all gathered up outside waiting and empty tables inside that either haven't been bussed or they aren't seating to capacity due to people problems. We have stopped in here several times over the years. The steaks are good for the price point. I suggest the made in house ranch. The chicken fingers are strong, as well. Lastly, I am a huge fan of fried pickles and would suggest you get an order to start out your meal. I will say that our last meal here was slow, and we had a hard time getting refills. Stopped by very early for lunch was seated immediately. We had a good waitress. Ordered lunch.special catfish with salad $13.99 Sirlon tips with salad and sweet potato Casserole. Rolls are included. Steak tips were supposed to be medium done but were WELL done. Would NOT recommend the S.P. CASS it was dry and overly seasoned with cinnamon. Catfish was fishy tasting not good quality. I got the T- bone steak and it wasn't the best I've had but definitely not bad. The biggest disappointment was the side options. The rolls were also pretty low quality and without the cinnamon butter would have been inedible. I would choose a few other steakhouses over this one for sure. Its a quiet Thursday night. I am seated quickly and then I wait. A nice lady asks me what I want to drink and I order 2 beers, I'm thirsty and I have been driving 8 hours. Then I wait. She comes back to tell me that she has been split up shift change and my server will be there soon. Then I wait some more. A single beer shows up. The new waitress appears and I look at the single beer and I look at her. She tells me its company policy to only serve one beer at a time. She then takes my order and I finish my beer. Then I wait again. She is MIA so I go to the bar and ask for another beer. While being served I ask, "Can I get two beers?" "Yes you can" is the reply. Hmmm. My incredibly salty steak arrives. It's been powdered with both salt and a steak rub, neither of which I can see. This is cynical sh*t designed to make you suffer through ordering another beer and no-where that I could see on the menu does it mention they are doing this. The broccoli is inedible. Its been drenched in Vegalene or some sort of hideous garlic coating and is dripping wet. About 75% of my way through the meal she reappears to ask me if I need another beer. At her speed, I guess it would have appeared after midnight. No-one from management is to be seen. Not worth your time. read more

Disappointed! I've eaten at this location a couple of times when in the area and those times were enjoyable with decent quality food and service. Last night left me thinking never again. My ribeye was literally full of facia and connective tissue and NOT tender. It was devoid of any marbling, flavor or juice. I ordered rare and received a blue rare steak which I'm perfectly happy eating but not this time. Other guests in my party had the Santa Fe chicken that was excellent and a sirloin steak that was of the same quality as my ribeye. I've had better quality steaks on buffet lines at national chain restaurants that don't advertise "hand cut" steaks. If asked, I would advise Santa Fe Cattle Company to raise their prices and purchase better quality beef and hire more experienced butchers. As is, apparently their menu prices are too low to offer quality "hand cut" steaks but way too high for utility, cutter and canner grade beef. The restaurant was busy with a 45 minute wait. Our waitress was pleasant, very attentive and let us know the cooks were "backed up and it's taking them awhile to get the orders out" . read more

Best steak I've ever had! I had a feeling it was going to be good when there was a 35 minute wait for 2 at 3:30 on a Sunday. People were constantly coming in and no one was leaving because of the wait. We went for the fried pickles to start because we didn't know they brought out bread before your meal. I don't typically like "breaded" as much as I prefer "battered" fried pickles, but these somehow stayed together, had a really nice crunch still to the pickle, and not at all greasy. My filet was less done than I typically like it, but if I sent it back, it would've been too done. It literally was like butter; no need to chew. My husband got ribs that 100 % came off the bone with no effort. Cinnamon apples were delicious, but those yeast rolls and cinnamon butter...I almost said I didn't want to order food after eating those! As busy as it was and short staffed, our server Kris was hustling and never once hesitated to do what everyone needed and never forgot what you asked for. Sign on the door apologizing they're out of dinner rolls was a harbinger of things to come. I ordered the steak tacos and after the meal arrived we found out they were also out of both salsa AND guacamole (for me tacos are primarily a delicious vehicle for delivering guacamole and salsa). The server was very friendly and brought sour cream and a variety of dressings that helped cut the dryness. The steak itself was flavorful but was not cut properly, resulting in a stringy and hard to bite through dish. Bottom line: would not recommend and expect that without significant changes to management and/or capitalization, this spot will likely not be open next year. read more
