I've been at Southern oaks 2 years and have loved it. I don't plan on moving out anytime soon. it is so convenient to live here I can walk right around the corner to 7/11 and the shopping places. my Apartment has washer and dryer connections so no laundry onsite is not a big deal. my dogs love walking around and the park for them is very spacious for them. I love that there is a courtesy office and that staff lives here too. read more

Definitely an up and coming property. Very peaceful, the ladies in the office were super friendly. I had a good tour with Brenda. I am not moving for a couple of months but this is one of my first choices after seeing a few other complexes in the area as the prices are pretty competitive. read more

Pretty decent property. I like that its gated, and has a nice pool. I dont like that the laundry rooms are down and no time could be given to when they would be opened again. Since Shelbi has become the property manager things have gone down hill and fast. She is so rude and will tell you exactly what you want to hear to get you off the phone. I had a car parked in my covered spot for almost 24 hours and nothing was done to help. Instead, she snapped at me on the phone saying they had only been open since 8:30 when I asked why nothing had been done for 3 hours. I made a complaint to corporate about her about a month and a half ago and ever since then I have received more than 5 "lease violations" with the threat of eviction. This place is only average if not worse until you have concerns. Then things get really bad really fast. On several occasions I have lost hot water due to pipes bursting and I didnt find out until I called the office to complain about my hot water not working. The maintenance team, especially Al the older guy with a pony tail, will drag their feet when any maintenance request is made, not to mention the landscapers are awful. Often times they come to landscape they completely disregard the dog park and literally every single time they come I have to spend 20-30 minutes sweeping my patio. I have also mentioned this to Shelbi to be yet again given false promises that she will say something to them and it will change. The office staff is super nice and professional until you sign the lease. Then they treat you like a second class citizen. Just like all the other bad reviews here steer clear of southern oaks! Drug use is still rampant in the community and now a lot of people have dogs that the community doesn't even know about. That also means lots of pet waste not being picked up. BEST customer service and apartment complex appearance by far!! After several weeks of looking at many places/areas, Southern Oaks was the only one worth considering. Good online descriptions and reviews were confirmed immediately upon my arrival. Brenda is absolutely incredible...kind, funny, sweet, personable, professional, and beyond helpful. Then Jenn met with us on our second visit and was wonderful too. On my third visit, Brenda warmly greeted me upon my return and wrapped everything up with the application process (staying 30 minutes past closing). We will hopefully be approved tomorrow and move in this weekend. We are really appreciative and look forward to living there. The unit, grounds, and facilities are very nice and well maintained. Happy to give a most deserved 5-star review to Brenda, Jenn, and all the rest of the staff at Southern Oaks who care about this place and make it so pleasant for all those who live there. read more

These apartments are ok. They have been updated which is nice. The lighting is horrible. There is no light fixture or ceiling fan in the living room or bedroom. There is a ceiling fan in the dining room though, which is just weird. The kitchen is really crammed. (As expected I guess) There is no microwave. My apartment is on the street side, so cars driving by at night is pretty noisy. The neighbors are nice and quite. Management is friendly and helpful. read more

This is a really nice Apartment complex. The Leasing consultant Kishta is who I dealt with. She was very nice and wasn't really pushy. She followed up with us in good timing. The Premises was very clean and well maintained! It is an updated place and has won many awards for the management team. I really loved living here for the first part of my stay. I have gotten along with everyone and was overall pleased with the experience. Here recently, my A/C unit went out and it was 82-85 degrees in my house. I had the fans on and everything trying to cool the place down. I was trying to wait until morning but a medical condition I have was getting triggered. I was told there was on call maintenence so I called but you have to leave a message and wait. They called back from a private number and I had just missed it so I didn't get any contact until the next day. I left many messages hoping to get someone out there that night. (Again, it would have not been a big deal but because of my condition, it was.) I called to talk to the office to see if we could possibly work something out if the fact that the broken unit running all night were to run up my electric bill to an ungodly amount. The girl I spoke with was snarky, sarcastic and horrible to speak with. She said they did a "corporate walk through" and that I had to change some things they "noticed". I have had pretty white sheer curtains put up on my porch and usually keep my dogs out there. She said I have to take the curtain rod down. I have had the dogs out there on the porch for about 7 months and have had NO complaints. You literally have to climb up to see in my porch (see photos). She said I have to now keep them inside (even though when I asked her if they were causing a problem and she said 'no'). When I mentioned that they will probably be on the porch since there have been no issues, she snapped back, "Well that's fine we can just give you a lease violation." She was just finding every little thing to nit pick to make a point. I will most likely NOT be renewing my lease. I don't like giving bad reviews but I felt compelled to do this one given the degree of the situation. HIGHLY displeased with the level of professionalism. read more

This was the worse customer service I have ever encountered. Amy was rude, unorganized and didnt know what she was doing sending me to sites to pay for my application that didnt work which I had to call another company for help and then I guess she was frustrated and hung up on me halfway through our conversation. Keep my money I will lease elsewhere. read more

After multiple situations handled without professionalism, I felt compelled to express my distaste. I'm not sure who in particular is to blame, but this business is ran poorly without regard to tenants. For example our AC went out twice during the heat of the summer- maintenance claimed there was nothing they could do for "A COUPLE DAYS". In addition the dishwasher went out, and was unable to be fixed for months. It has also been confirmed by maintenance we have a rodent infestation but nothing has been done to combat the issue. Also our maintenance man is nice, and knowledgable- ultimately the company is at fault. I'm beyond disappointed by the complete disregard for common courtesy and concern for the safety of tenants. read more

Southern Oaks definitely has room for improvement but no one seems to care to listen. Issues I've run into are no parking, the gates don't work most of the time or when they do so many visitors come in you never know who is in or out. There are always overflowing dumpsters, but also people digging through the dumpsters in the middle of the night. Multiple cars have been broken into and the public washers and dryers don't ever work (either they are broken or someone took a crow bar to get quarters). I stopped using the pool after it stopped being cleaned and people started drinking and getting loud, once there were so many drunk girls cussing I literally had to just pack up and walk away. The neighborhood is a bit rough at night, high drug trafficking with at least one instance of multiple people jumping the wall between the complex and 7-11 to escape police. When I mentioned drug dealing happening and smelling marijuana and hearing fighting I was told I was wrong... ok then, we can go with that, maybe I am wrong but if it were my business I'd look into it. I loved this complex initially. It was clean, quiet and the office staff was so professional. I found the pool to be my reading oasis, I worked out all the time, I felt safe. That ended about 2 years ago. I'm glad to be moving out after too much attitude and drama but also sad because it use to be a place I called home. I hope the staff can prioritize concerns and better communicate them without defensiveness. Not being able to listen to criticism doesn't help make improvements, which will likely mean another full staff change within the year. I moved in Jan and what I realized was the apartments ,especially on roadside,are extremely noisy.That was start of troubles.For 5 months now I have unrested sleep.I tried to get it changed and response of staff some jackeline was v rude.she was more intent on giving away apts to new customers than get us shifted to lesser noisy ones.She was v curt and you can get sense of it as my wife was in low mood for 2 days post talking to her.The worst is we had told her we want this apt and requested to hold it but she gives it away.all this between 3 pm and 12 pm of next day.Obviously she cited rules that we didn't pay but I was willing to pay only I was in office. On other instances she uses words like u were her slave and she did grt charity by lending "her" property to stay for free.I don't even want to talk to their staff as it definitely spoils mood for rest of the day. Next 4 months later we again zero in a lesser noisy apt. And here we were asked for same size apt $100 /mo extra.For what . For a bad noisy apt that they should fix why I was penalised.Imagine my situation when Megan their manager literally banged phone in my face when I tried to explain.Apparantely she was annoyed as she wanted me out of my apt as she had rented existing noisy apt at higher rate to a new innocent customer and also charging higher rate from me for new apt.It was profit making at worst out of miseries of someone and any respectable person would be ashamed if I could share recording of way this impolite woman Megan talked to me.My wife was like who was she and I felt v low esteem that paying so much treated like this banging down phone right in my face. That's for staff , for safety I see laundromat coin boxes being broken into.Strangers walk in unchecked to apt pool ,as per official communication by property mgmt. Stay away from this property as staff is super impolite or you are immune to your self respect being torn out by arrogant curt staff here ,barring Rolando.You are king till you new customer not existing. read more

I have lived in better apartments than this one. Lots of traffic in this area and no real slow down in the activity due to the retail and restaurants.. So its not very quiet here. The office staff makes mistakes all the time, so don't be surprised if a work order is not done or someone parks in your paid parking spot. I would suggest looking around. read more
