We had a wonderful lunch at "Southern Soul" today after morning worship with 3 friends. It was the first time for us to eat here. The Food was DELICIOUS Southern Cooking. Some people may think it costs too much, but the food is wonderful and it's a very good quantity of food. (From about $11.99 to $17.99, plus drink, and additional for dessert. No Tip expected) You pick your food and it's put on plates and a tray in front of you when you come in. You take your food to a table and get your drink yourself from a dispenser. LOCATED at the building of the old "Krystal Restaurant" on Broad Street and Old Fort Parkway.

Fried catfish, black eyed peas, greens, mac n cheese, and white beans!

I did not order an alcoholic beverage since I came on a Sunday during lunch hours. I tried the fried gizzards, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I didn't think anything I had was bad. This was my first time trying fried gizzards so I'm not really sure how the texture is supposed to be like, but it was pretty tough to chew so I guess that's how it's supposed to be like. I also tried their chicken n dressing, spaghetti, and deviled eggs. You can choose spaghetti as your side! I don't think any of it was bad, either. I also tried their wings. Their wings wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me. My favorite items from here were the deviled eggs (very yummy) and the regular baked cornbread. I felt the cornbread was cooked perfectly. It wasn't dry at all. I've had some at other places where it was dry or hard, but here, I really liked it. It also had a really nice sweet taste to it. Their sweet tea was really good, too! In all, I didn't have a bad experience, but would like to come back in the evening to try their bar out and try some other items on their menu. May update my review later when I come back and bring my stars up once I get to try more items. The prices here were really good!

One with Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes the other with pinto beans and sweet potatoes. The chicken and dressing was extremely salty. Usually I'm all for well seasoned food, but this was so salty I didn't end up eating it. The employees here are very friendly and prompt with service. I'm willing to come back and give this establishment another try.

Date of Visit: July 1, 2026…read more After driving all day the previous day we were wanting a real good county breakfast. My wife told me she had just the place in mind and I've been there before too (City Cafe). But when we arrived we saw they were permanently closed, dang. I could taste it. Then the wife recommended Puckett's and they are just around the the corner, a short walk. As we walked up on the place I noticed the marque, retro. The inside was bit as well. We were quickly seated and drink orders taken. This was a weekday morning visit so not too busy. Looking over the menu, I may not have looked close enough, I decided on the "Build your own Omelette". Onions, tomatoes and pepper jack cheese. The wife ordered the B&G. I noticed I wasn't asked about my side? I wounded potatoes. Also rye bread with my omelette, hmmm. Our food arrived, all looked good. I saw my order came with what looked like frozen type of potatoes, perfect squares. I was expecting something home cooked, fried potatoes with burnt edges. Flavor. The wife's B&G looked great, two basques and potatoes as well. The omelette was good, plenty of everything and filled. The wife said here B&G was really good and she's a B&G expert. Over all, all was good just disappointed with the potatoes option and no rye toast. Perhaps they could consider fresh cut potatoes along with the frozen type. Also maybe offer some type of toast. Give the place try if your on the square. Peace.

I got the BBQ pork platter and it was delicious, definitely the highlight of the night. The atmosphere was great too. They had live music going, which added a lot to the country vibe and made it a fun place to hang out. Service was okay, nothing bad, but I did have to ask for a refill once or twice. Overall, a good experience and I'd go back!
