Am I ever glad that our Realtor referred us to Tidewater Home Funding. From the first call with our loan officer to get preapproved, we were treated like gold. The process of meeting in person to sign all of the initial loan application paperwork went so smoothly and I felt so reassured about what would happen next and what to expect. Like Nikki's photo suggests, I walked in to a sign on the desk personally welcoming me. I was kept informed throughout the entire process and was never left wondering what was happening at any given point in time. I tried to be really proactive and do my homework about any piece of documentation possible that might be required. Between that and our LO's dilligence, I never had to go back after that first meeting. The day we looked at the house we wanted, our agent suggested a closing date of January 28th and Tidwater Home Funding ensured we met that date. I couldn't believe how the entire thing went off without a single hitch or the constant back and forth that I've heard so many other people describe. "Invalid social security number" is simply a misleading error message. In our case, the transfer of data from Quicken (including the release of SSN) won't complete until after the effective date of the transfer. Then we will be able to make an online account. I am hoping the 60 day protection period ("expected and normal", per phone rep) for this transfer will mean that a naturally late payment (through no fault of our own - I cannot pay online without an account!) will indeed work out, and that the rest of the transition will be smooth. But as you can see, I am already a bit cynical. I will try to remember to update this review if things improve, though (with the caveat that a star will ABSOLUTELY be lost if there are extra fees for the convenience of paying online. This is 2020, folks. Paper is dead.) On the brighter side, our representative was very clear and kind.

I already filed an official complaint with the CFPB and am actively exploring any and all other avenues. 0/5 stars. Loancare is a nightmare to deal with and their incompetence forced me to file an official complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) due to their absolute negligence. I had a partial claim that was done for deferred payments during Covid in 2020 and now that I'm trying to sell over 6 years later, turns out they never sent the claim to HUD so the closing company can't get the required payoff statement. Almost 2 weeks of getting the runaround from their under-trained phone call reps saying "they don't send that to HUD" and "the county is supposed to send that to HUD" (spoiler alert, that is NOT their responsibility) to now they seemingly have figured out after almost daily calls that it IS their job to do that, they may have delayed my closing by 4-6+ WEEKS. Which means they can now get even more payments and interest from me, smells like fraud doesn't it? I'll ask a lawyer. Twice they seemingly opened a case and had someone working on this and it looks like each time it got assigned the person went "I don't know how to do this and/or this isn't my job!" and closed it out despite me sending ample explanations/documentation, of course I never got a call or message about it. It's not my problem Loancare didn't do their job nor is it going to be, if I don't get a call back from your Resolution Team like they stated to me on their recorded line, I will escalate this as high as it needs to go.
