I have had my things stored at this facility for over 2 years, and it is time to write a review. The staff at this location are never in the office, everytime I stop by the sign says they are out of the office. The hours are clearly listed on the door, yet they are never in the office. There use to be two people in the office, no longer since US storage took over Southpoint Storage. They have raised the rates twice since I have been renting my unit, yet nothing has improved. There are rodents the grounds are dirty the enclosed units have cobwebs in the hallways and are dirty. I was out of the state and my rent lapsed and I paid it in full and then I had to get into my unit and it was double locked, even though my account was paid in full. I do not know what they are doing in this facility that the office is always closed and the units are not monitored and that if you have a unit and your account is up to date why you are locked out still weeks later? The facility manager is not in my opinion doing her job at this location. read more

Besides the fact that it is never cleaned and the hallways are full of rat shit (even sometimes a dead rodent) and trash, the corporate policy is to raise the rent every 4 to 6 months. In 1 1/2 years, my rent doubled. When I asked Heather, the manager, why they never clean the place, she said she was the only one there and they didn't have any maintenance people. I complained about the filth in the hallways and she said she hadn't noticed. But I have fotos going back months documenting the piles of feces and trash lying in the same place month after month. I've had a storage unit at this facility for over 10 years. For about the first 9 years it operated as Southpoint Self Storage, and during that entire time I never had a single issue. The facility was consistently maintained and rent increases were reasonable. Since the transition to US Storage Centers, my experience has changed significantly. First, it's now very difficult to reach anyone locally. When you call the number for the facility it routes to a corporate call center rather than someone in the office, which makes it hard to get clear answers about what's happening on site. Second, the overall upkeep of the property appears to have declined. On multiple visits I've seen the bathrooms in rough condition with trash on the floor and the sink and toilet visibly dirty. That alone was disappointing compared to how the facility used to be maintained. My biggest concern, however, is what I've repeatedly seen inside the building near my unit. When walking up the indoor staircase and through the hallway, I've noticed rat and mouse droppings on the stairs, landings, and floor. The first time I saw this I assumed it would be cleaned up quickly. But on later visits months apart, I saw what looked like the same droppings still in the same areas. People are leaving reviews online that their units have become infested and belongings destroyed. I truly don't believe the company is stepping up in a big way to address this infestation at the facility, or else I would see the hallways clean, and the bad reviews would cease. In the 9 years under the previous management I never once saw anything like this. Seeing it repeatedly now is extremely concerning when you're storing personal belongings in the building. I've called the company several times asking what is being done to address cleanliness and pest issues at the facility. Each time I was told someone from management would follow up, but so far I have not received a call back. After more than a decade here, it's frustrating to see the condition of the facility decline like this. A storage company's basic responsibility is to provide a clean and well-maintained environment for customers' belongings. Based on what I've personally observed recently, that standard isn't being met. This facility used to be well run, and it's disappointing to see it in this condition after the change in management. If the issues continue, I will unfortunately have to move my belongings after more than 10 years here. Now-I expect a boiler plate, phony response, asking me to contact them. NO, I will not. I've been a satisfied Southpoint customer for over 20 years. U.S. Storage turned a very decent facility into a total fail. I was told a $12 dollar fee for unit insurance was mandatory -- it was not, so I opted out (insurance contract didn't even provide proper protection). Alarm system was downgraded, so a police response would no longer be active, making a successful theft much more possible (this was the straw that made me leave immediately). While moving out, I was greeted by hundred of pieces of rat feces EVERYWHERE! I used to recommend Southpoint Storage to all my friends, however now I am letting ALL of them know that their belongings are NO LONGER safe with U.S. Storage (both from rodents and from thieving humans). This demise of a perfectly solid business model, has a definite corporate stink to it -- forsaking customer care on all levels, to leverage hefty bottom lines at all costs. 25 years and then one morning when needed access the damn gate code doesn't work for some reason and they don't open now until 9:30am No afterhours help. So we have bankers hours for storage - storage that used to be busy at 7-8am especially werkends. We are current and should be no problem. But TODAY's plans are a total washout due to whatever has caused this. You ever have plans made with others depending on you then your storage access is not working? I can't recommend it! And, in light of all the other horrible reviews I'm reading from other long time users of the former Southpoint, I am extremely unhappy. read more

Well, they're at it again. My niece passed away (see previous review) requiring probate so they wouldn't let us clear and close the unit. I then paid the amount due and asked that they send future billings to me until we could get this resolved. They refused and never sent a bill but have now sent a preliminary lien notice for a past due amount (14 days) plus late fee, These people are total a-holes. Just visited my unit after being away for a while and was greeted by a bad smell. Turns out there was a large dead rat in the hall that has obviously been there for a while as it is partially decomposed. I was a customer of southpoint before US storage center bough them out. It has only been down hill since then. They have raised the rates while reducing services. Closed the public restroom, stopped maintaining the units, and yeah rats. Since the new ownership took over from the former Southpoint Storage managers, if you have important personal items that you value, it would be much more efficient to simply take your belongings directly to the county landfill and just dump them there than to rent storage space at this place. We had rented a second-floor storage unit for 29 years back when it was Southpoint Storage, we have always paid on time, but sadly we recently went to pick up some items from our unit and found rodent feces and droppings throughout our unit and rodent damage to almost everything we had stored there. Apparently the new management had not been monitoring the hallways for rodent signs, which were apparent. Obviously we had to move out, a very nasty project, and it took days to try to remediate what few surviving stored items that we could, but by coincidence the elevator was inoperative. We had to take most of it to the dump, childhood artwork, treasures of a family. After paying the company extra payments to supposedly maintain insurance for items in our unit, they suddenly claimed that the "limitation on rodent damage" is capped at $500, a small fraction of what we lost. I would cross this place off your list of local storage options and save yourself the irreplaceable losses that we, and apparently other reviewers, have been having there. Stay away. read more

Don't rent here! It was previously Southpoint Storage which was great. After ownership change that they notified people on a month later, they decided to implement an insurance plan for more money per month which they said you could opt out of but when calling the phone number it goes to a call center for people who can't do anything for you. Months after the fact I am notified that my payment for September isn't valid (this is December and my check cleared. About the time of transition) and that I owe money. Again calling the company to get a call center that can't do anything for me and have to have a "manager" call me back. It's beyond ridiculous and they can't figure out how to run a business. Don't rent here! Was previously Southpoint Storage which ran smoothly. No issues. 2-3 months ago I was informed that Southpoint had been sold to a Corp. US Storage. The following month US Storage put a $12.00 monthly charge for $2500.00 of insurance on my account. Told them I opt out due to having homeowners/auto insurance. Gave US Storage proof of coverage. US Storage is still trying to add $12.00 a month. Last week I received a letter stating that US Storage is discontinuing use of alarms on individual units. Will be looking for a new storage facility. read more

for some reason yelp changes all my upper case letters into lower case letters no matter how many times I re-write it. february 13 - you have to wait to have a service representative answer, and they are only contractors to answer the phone, and they are nice and sympathetic, and sound like they share concern and want to help, but then nothing whatsoever happens in response. they refuse to have any email correspondence with me, and only respond to my email correspondence with forms. i spoke with a nice sounding woman on the phone about a week ago and explained that at this point i want the communication to be exclusively in writing, and that i am poised to sue us storage, and chase my bank, for paying both the old and new amount of automatic payment mailed to southpoint for months before i became aware because i keep my simple finances in my head. i explained that out of consideration of more than 15 years of excellent service that i have been holding off, but that i cannot continue to hold off, and all i want is communication which is normal to business. she was sympathetic, and still nothing. they absolutely refuse to communicate with anything but irrelevant non-responsive forms. the "owner's" comments here sound like they are generated by artificial general intelligence just bland blah blah with no apology and no help, and they absolutely do not "follow up and address your concerns" (sucker). there is something ~very~ rotten to the core here. has anyone, anyone, had anything but a bad experience with this business since it was sold? anyone? anyone? let's hear it. if you want to join a class action or you want me to join your class action: john king 4585 shoshone street denver co 80211 read more

US Storage is still adding an insurance premium to my account, even after I went to their office and opted out of the insurance, signing the necessary documents to achieve this. I just received a late notice again because I didn't include the insurance premium, for insurance that I opted out of. This is ridiculous. read more

US Storage purchased Southpoint Storage a few months ago, and a letter was sent out saying everything would be the same if not improved. Skip forward a month or so, and another letter arrived saying the alarm system had been disabled, and they automatically added a monthly insurance fee. I had to ask to be removed from that opt-in list. I went in today to gather some things and pay my bill, and my $150.00 unit is now $169.50, with no letter saying the price was going up! Needless to say I am looking for a new storage facility. read more

We were one month behind, when we called to address the issue they informed us that they had already "cut our lock" there is nothing in the terms and conditions that state that is an appropriate action. Why did you cut our lock?? Then add on insane fees? Trust me Southpoint did not operate this way, and a class action lawsuit is approaching very quickly. read more
