There is no communication between the two places where there should be because if no one can communicate with the other, that could mean that someone may die if proper communication is not made! There's got to be a better system in place for communication so everyone knows what is happening with the patient and everyone will know what care the patient is receiving. It would save a lot of time and energy in having to repeat why the patient or care taker is calling if the hospital and doctor's office can communicate!

He promptly scheduled me for an infusion this week and that's what I had today. There is plenty of parking, a large lobby, and even a vending machine for snacks if your infusion takes a while like mine did! Let me preface I have a horrible fear of needles, so this kind of place is a nightmare for me. When I told the nurses and the people who draw blood, they were so quick to make me as comfortable as possible. Kris, the nurse manager, was able to find a vein in my baby sized veins. She was so patient, kind, and compassionate. I get anxiety about being a burden since I can be difficult, but she didn't make me feel that way for a second. Another honorable mention is the nurse I had, Jasmine, who was so attentive and supportive. She explained things very thoroughly and made me feel confident in the treatment I was getting. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse. Overall, if you come here, be assured you'll have some great care with professionals who lead with compassion and patience. No one wants to go to a cancer center, but the nurses and doctors change that once you meet them.

I was not by such a lovely woman who listened when I said I bruise easily and used a butterfly draw to make it easier. Just a prick. Seamless and quick then I walked out to check in for the x-ray where the experience was similar. I hope I can come to this facility again for some future things like mammograms, x-rays, and bloodwork. I would like to permanently break up with Labcorp. Employees here have all been free, friendly and helpful. The quality of care so far has been excellent.

I made an appointment for an initial consultation with him and went to that yesterday. He's a really nice guy and has long history of successful surgical experience. But unfortunately my insurance Florida Blue doesn't cover any sort of weight loss and I don't have the money to pay out of pocket, so my bariatric weight loss dreams ended there until I get a better insurance plan. Dr. Sharma was very kind and handled explaining things to me about insurance and giving me out of pocket estimate. If I ever do get better insurance that covers a bariatric sleeve I'll be using Dr. Sharma for it.

My weight had plummeted drastically to the point where I was skin and bones. My gastroenterologist kept telling me to take Pepsid but did nothing to address the root issue, which was a hiatal hernia. After several endoscopy sessions confirming the presence of a hernia he chose to just monitor the situation. I only wish I had found Dr. Sharma sooner. He took the time to listen to my symptoms, order the right tests and personally did my endoscopy. He discovered my hernia was much larger than my gastro initially relayed and I was scheduled for surgery soon after. His skill as a robotic surgeon is unparalleled. I did not have to take any pain meds post op at all and the incisions healed extremely well. What a blessing not to have any complications, something that speaks to Dr. Sharma's level of competence and experience. I am truly thankful and will be forever grateful for him and the standard of care he and his staff have shown to me. He has indeed given me a new life. I should also mention his facilities are spotless and state of the art. That in addition to the sweet and caring staff has always put me at ease. I will say up front, that during my two visits (one in 2019, this one in Nov.2026) for procedures and tests (including overnight stays) at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside Hospital (apparently this is the real name) have been among the best, if not the best medical care I've received in a hospital. Having what I perceived as a medical emergency, St. Vincent's was chosen for me in 2019 by the NAS Hospital because of an emergency procedure I needed on my left side. I remembered that and this time I got to pick where I would go for hospital care. Room set up was ready for me when I arrived. The ambulance ride went very well and both paramedics were solid professionals and very courteous. I wound up staying at St. Vincent's for about two days. There were three tests and photos taken of my heart. One thing that I was sad about was how many times needles were being pressed into my arms! - I still have great veins to work with! But they were totally uncooperative on this visit. I should have suggested the butterfly! But setting up for further blood pulls probably would eliminate the use of a butterfly syringe. I will say each tech who worked with me did it in a careful manner, which I appreciated! I can say that I've worked in hospitals as a chaplain a been a patient on multiple occasions too! Knowing it from both angles really helps in giving an assessment of a hospital staff and the care they provide. I liked that St. Vincent's provides morning and evening prayers that are heard across the the hospital both morning and evening. A Catholic hospital I once worked in years ago provided this service too (even I gave some!). I had two fantastic nurses, both first class!! Sara and Doug took awesome care of me by visiting my room rather frequently and fulfilling any requests I had promptly. I did make one mistake while I was there and I'm thankful that they helped correct me. I enjoyed talking with numerous staff personnel and can say for the most part, they really seemed to enjoy working here and were committed to the care of the patient. The only strike (not a star) I have took place at breakfast when I found food seasoning rather than Splenda I had ordered for my coffee! Well, I did call back and asked for a correction, but it never came :( I don't hold it against them - I was discharged not long after eating. As for my tests, I have some life changes to make. I'm thankful St. Vincent's made some arrangements for me to begin that process in the near future. Hopefully the VA will work with me on this one too! This hospital has been around for a good number of years. It does show its age on the floors. I was on 3 North and it was very active up there. I don't believe this calls for a renovation yet, but it might need to be in the works sometime in the not too distant future. Oh! Another thing that showed the floor staff was solid was that my room was right next to the nurses station. I could hear conversations throughout day and night. Never once did I hear anything negative, inappropriate, or a single gripe. In all, I was very well-treated here and truly am grateful for the care I received at Ascension St. Vincent's Southside Hospital. PS- I want to add another to my list of mentions. My assigned doctor, Dr. Ijaz was truly fantastic in her patient care! She understood my situation well and gave some explanations on things I hadn't thought about. She also set up my first appointment with a cardiologist as I begin life's next journey. The second time I went for a series of visits, they approved my care, then after approving 6 visits, they denied my care stating that I did not have chiropractic coverage. I have been fighting with United Healthcare to have them pay for the visits they approved in April, but I'm still waiting for them to pay what they promised and they have not. I will NEVER use this company again and advise anyone who is looking for an insurance company to avoid this company at all costs. They are not a reputable company and do not do what they promise. My dentist suggested I see a specialist for one of my teeth and that's when I found out that several of the doctors on their "approved" list let me know that the insurance company won't pay for any service. This is not a legitimate insurance company and needs to be out of business!

Both the type and quality of care are both subpar on their over the counter benefit. They use their division called Optum to do this.This company has absolutely horrible customer. You're on hold and get cut off, so you have to call again. You're transferred to the incorrect department and they have zero concern for the quality of the medications they ship. I received gummie supplements that were liquid because they were on a FedEx truck in 100 degree weather. They re-sent them and the same result; shipped in a cardboard box, no packing & melted from being in a hot FedEx truck. I just used my quarterly supplement to order more OTC items. All of the items are compromised due to molecular breakdown from being stored on a 100+ degree FedEx truck and all of the bottles say to store at room temperature which is 68-77F or 20-25C. I spent 4 hours on the phone being transferred and cut off. None of these medications are still at full potentcy. They don't know what they can do because they are not packed at the facilities where people answer phones. My OTC benefit was completely wasted and they refused to refund it. This is one division of United Healthcare to completely avoid.

My mother was admitted to this facility for rehab after her surgery and they were not following the…read moredoctors orders in terms of number of therapy sessions per day, they weren't bringing her ice as the doctor ordered, they weren't elevating her leg and she only got one bath per week, when the doctor said it should be three times/week. Also, the phone system often didn't work and they were leaving her on her own to try to make it to the toilet, when she was just three days from the surgery. I'm giving them two stars, instead of 1, or zero, because when we requested the assistance, she got it. My mom also thought the therapists were nice. So, as long as you can stay on them to properly assist you, you will fare OK, but if you can't monitor them, or if your loved one can't assert themselves, I'm not sure they'll get the care you expect. My Mom's doctor said he will not be recommending this facility to his patients anymore after my Mom answered his questions.

That's not the proper way to do business. They don't believe in their own product, why should you? Fun fact, in less than two months, they've had one salesman and another EMT quit that place. People just don't walk away from good jobs.
