I stored my boat with them for the winter and asked them to check out a couple of problems I was having. Their service people couldn't figure out what was wrong. So no repair. I had also was assured before storing there that they get boats out early when the season begins. It was late May before the boat could be launched. When I brought in the boat in the fall it was clean. When I went to get some things off the boat in the spring it was filthy. There were even dirty footprints on the seats. When I complained they said they have no control over the elements and they don't wash boats. Unless you pay for that, of course. All that was after I decided to sell my boat through them. That's when more of the hidden costs came into play. They did things without asking me and then charged me for them. They have all kinds of positive sayings posted around the office acting like they approach things from a more grounded and connected standpoint. Don't fall for it.

I spent two years getting jerked around by other Chicago marinas before I was ultimately stranded with a boat that didn't work. With winter approaching, someone suggested I reach out to Jim Wardlow at Skipper Bud's. Not only did his team come down to personally tow my boat, but Jim kept in touch with me throughout the winter to let me know why it wasn't running. He took pictures of my engine and sent them to me with a diagnosis and expert suggestion. Then he told me to go do my research to make sure it seemed right and fair. It was a big lesson in boat mechanics, and a big relief to be treated with such kindness and candor. The next summer, my boat ran perfectly. Jim or coworker Debb even checked in on occasion to make sure it was running the way it should. Despite having hundreds of customers, I've never experienced more personalized, comprehensive and honest customer service. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

When I arrived there was a wedding taking place. The view is beautiful, a good place to have a wedding. After our sail we went to the bar and had a few margaritas and brisket nachos. The bar and restaurant were nice. The price was good and so were the nachos. It was standard pub fare. The staff was friendly and quick. It was a nice place to visit with a beautiful view of the lake.

The management keeps changing and the restaurant always seems to run into problems. I'm not sure why no one seems to be able to make it but really someone comes in and stays. They can develop a great reputation and strong following. I stopped in one evening to meet a friend for appetizers and cocktails. They had just opened for the evening and we sat at the bar. It was quiet because it was early so we were able to chat and enjoy the view. The bartender was very pleasant and friendly. He chatted with us and stayed attentive once it became busy. We asked about the daily soup but it wasn't ready yet. Later, not long before we were about to wrap up, he brought us complimentary cups of soup. What a thoughtful gesture! We ordered two appetizers and wine. I had white and my friend had red. Everything was really tasty - especially the surprise homemade soup! I really hope this spot makes a real go of it. It really should be on everyone's radar for the kind service, tasty food and the perfect location.
