Visited for breakfast this morning to check out the new diner. My boyfriend and I both ordered eggs benedict which was very good. It looked like the hollandaise sauce was home-made and the sauce was very light. The home fries were FANTASTIC, with shredded onion in them. The look of the new diner is Baltimore-themed, with Ravens signs and Natty Boh signs. Service wasn't bad, though it seemed like the man sitting next to us at the bar waited for a long time. This is their first busy weekend, so they will get the hang of it. Hopefully they will extend their hours soon- I'd love to be able to stop in for breakfast before work. Southside diner is one of my girlfriend and I's favorite breakfast spots in the area. We both LOVE breakfast therefore we are critical of it. We have never had a bad meal at Southside and that keeps us coming back. The staff is always so friendly and attentive its hard to not love this place. Couldn't believe how packed this place was on a Sunday afternoon! Located in a major shopping center parking is never a problem, which when you live in the city is half the reason you pick to go anywhere! The restaurant is very small, would recommend not going during peak hours or at least get carry out! I was happy however how quickly I was greeted and able to order even though the place was very busy. I obviously got carry out and was told to call ahead next time haha. All the food I saw being served looked amazing! Once home, I ate my ceaser wrap and crab soup. I liked it a lot, very tasty. This is the one and only diner I actually like. If you want breakfast in a diner with good prices in or near the city, this is a great way to start your day. The staff is very courteous and fast, the food is delicious, the portions are generous but far from being wasteful like most diners. I haven't had a steak or soup yet, but the quality of ingredients is high, so I don't doubt they are good. I have tried the roast beef club and enjoyed it, once again just well made food that feels like it's home cooked. The breakfast sandwiches are inexpensive and substantial but unfortunately they do not offer any croissant option for your bread of choice. The sausage gravy tastes herbaceous and is actually satisfying, I suspect they may use sage sausage to create it. read more

The first 2 times I purchased food here it was delicious with nice portions. Lately it's been total trash with missing items. I purchased a hot turkey sandwich which was a tasteless mess. Today I ordered a turkey club with a lemonade, I mean how do you mess up a turkey club. This has been the go-to brunch place since we first moved to Baltimore -- and for good reason! The parking is ample and free (whee!), the food is good and pipin' hot, and the coffee is bottomless. What more can you ask for? Sure, there are some healthier options available, but what really speaks to me are the butter-laden, poached egg-y breakfast delights of the weekend: the benedicts (and, yes, they're only available on the weekends, so you're outta luck if you come on a weekday morning). It's comforting to bite down into a yolk-drizzled piece of ham on an English muffin, tinged with creamy hollandaise. Plus those "home fries" on the side? Perfect with some ketchup and hot sauce. Came here with my brother for lunch on a Monday and was pleasantly surprised by this little diner. I was actually surprised to see this place packed. Since everything looked good on the menu, the friendly staff helped us make a decision. My brother and I ended up getting burgers and it was great. Although it seemed like a nice establishment, I was still skeptical (that's just my nature). Burgers come with chips but it costs $1.75 to upgrade to fries. I think that's a bit much in my opinion... seeing how typically fries come with burgers free of charge at other places. Regardless, the burgers were great. Great size, great taste, and great quality. My boyfriend and I absolutely love coming to Southside for breakfast! The staff is super friendly and the food is actually GREAT! I always order the vegetable omelette and he usually gets the pipeline. However, we've tried almost everything on the menu and we never leave anything less than satisfied. Their prices are super reasonable and their portions are big! Especially the omelettes. Their specialty omelettes are definitely the most popular, but you also have the option of creating your own! This review is months overdue. I went here while on a road trip to Virginia. It looked good in the photos but I did not expect it to be so good! It's a little smaller in there than I thought, but still big enough to accommodate our party of 5. The staff was really friendly and when they recognized we weren't from around the area, they helped us out with some menu items and nearby places. The prices are very reasonable and the food is made fresh to order. I had the pipeline breakfast which is eggs, meat, cheese, potato, onion and green pepper in a skillet. I'm from NYC I'm expecting like a small skillet with some scrambled eggs and toppings. NO, it's like a huge lasagna like piece of breakfast awesomeness! I had enough for two breakfasts! The lunch menu looks great as well. They have a lot of Greek style options as well as American/southern cuisine so there's plenty of options for everyone. I definitely recommend this place if your a local or just traveling by! Garden Wrap was a tortilla with very juicy chopped mushrooms, onions and peppers. I didn't get a chance to taste it, it fell apart as soon as I tried to pick it up. I suppose it was my fault for not knowing how it was made but "garden" makes me think it would be a cold wrap and have some fresh veggies. I sent it back and waited for the rest of my table to finish so I could eat at home. Husband's French dip was bland and he said not worth the money but my son's grilled cheese and fries was great. Wait staff was nice which is why it got a 2 star. I am sure their breakfast is great, however we werent in a breakfast mood. So maybe stick to breakfast. read more

Was hungry so looked up a place for breakfast and found this gem. Immediately seated when when walked in. Waitresses were all attentive and that is always a plus. Came here for a brunch date with my dad and we were blown away. My dad is old school, so the classic diner breakfast food and prices really made him happy. We both had "the pipeline" which was like an omelet burrito: a peppers and onions omelet wrapped around sausage, bacon, and homefries all cooked together. PERFECT. We both only finished about half and took the rest home. Seating is plentiful, the booths are huge, it's clean and cute on the inside, the service is AWESOME, and you get in and out fairly quickly. My friend and I were in the mood for brunch on a recent Sunday morning. We were looking for something we could walk to and I was craving eggs. We decided to check out Southside Diner in Locust Point because they specialize in all-day breakfast. The fact that they specialize in all-day breakfast isn't that surprising because it is a diner, but it was exactly what we were craving. Fortunately when we walked in, there wasn't a wait because Southside Diner is a little on the smaller side and the place was packed. After looking over the menu, my friend decided on a medley of items to create her own breakfast. She started with a Bagel and Cream Cheese. I'm from New York, so I'm a little bit of a bagel snob. My friend really liked this bagel, but to me it was really nothing special. My friend also ordered Home Fries, the potatoes had a nice crisp on part of them, but the other part was just mushy. These would have been better if they were more evenly cooked, but they were still pretty great breakfast potatoes. Lastly, she ordered a side of Bacon. The bacon was thick cut and crispy, what's not to love! For my breakfast, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash. While this isn't the most appetizing looking plate, the runny egg yolk combined nicely with the corned beef hash and crispy potatoes.
