On our way in we asked a lady how the food was. She said they do everything well. Apparently we arrived at the peak of lunch hour and made our way to a table in the very back of the room. The server got the drinks and took the our order. The menu was basic and not frilly, just 1 page with a front and back. And before I forget, tĥey serve some of the best coffee eveŕ, nice añd smooth, no bitteŕs what so ever. I was in the mòod for Freñch toast with a side of bacon (4 strips) and a boŵl of chicken noodlè soup for my husband. All really good. The decor was 50's style and seats were matchìng all in 50's fasĥion. The only thìñg that would have made it more 1950 style would have the staff dress accordingly to that dècade. read more

This is a cute little diner that nails the classic 50s aesthetic, down to the counter seating, booths, and mini jukeboxes on each booth. Service was great throughout the meal. I chose corned beef hash with scrambled cheese eggs and home fries. My bf ordered bacon, scrambled eggs, home fries, and French toast. The meals also come with toast; they let you choose if you want it. My bf got his side of toast. I skipped it because I knew I'd be too full. The home fries weren't my favorite. They cook them with onions which isn't my preference (but easy to pick around and I'm sure I could have asked for them without), and they also just didn't have a lot of flavor to me. The corned beef hash was good, nice and crispy. The eggs were fluffy and had a generous amount of cheesy goodness. I tasted my bf's French toast and bacon, both of those were good. Overall, this is a cool spot to check out and enjoy the classic diner vibe! read more

I had breakfast with two friends at Lost in the 50s Diner a few weeks ago. It was packed - we got what looked like the last seats at the bar (and it appeared every table was taken). I enjoyed the food - very simple, traditional diner food - but the food took quite a long time since they were so busy (it took about 30 minutes to get our food - which felt like forever at a bar seat at a diner - just eggs and bacon!). It definitely seemed like they were having a hard time keeping up with orders! The staff was friendly. The food was a pretty good version of classic diner options. It had lots of retro 50s charm decor. But it was just a very slow meal, so for that reason I wouldn't return for breakfast on a weekend. read more

Food is very good, everything is done on a flat top behind the bar. Very heavy on 50s nostalgia which I appreciate. The decor hasn't changed since I first went in 2005, and the prices haven't changed much either. Decent place for a decent breakfast. I got a carry-out order of scrambled eggs, hash browns and grits. It was ready in 10-15 minutes from when I placed the order. The customer service is great and I love that the staff is all women. The food, however, is pretty underwhelming (I can make a better breakfast at home). But it fits the bill if you want a simple breakfast and the convenience of not having to make it yourself. My food ended up being a couple dollars more than the menu price but I will attribute that to the menu on Yelp being a couple years old. This "diner" is only open for breakfast and lunch which is a shame because I think the neighborhood needs more places that serve food late at night. The food was pretty good. My creamed chipped beef was tasty if a bit under seasoned. Some salt and pepper would have helped a lot! It was very creamy and oddly not super heavy so that was a major plus. The home fries were actual home fries with grilled onions and not hash browns (I hate when hash browns--unflavored fried potatoes--are passed off as the far superior home fries) and the portions were generous. My husband had 2 eggs, sausage patties, two pancakes and grits. The grits were really good! No instant or lumpy grits here! The stand out of both of our meals was the perfectly grilled sausage patties though. The service was friendly and the decor was very cute. Despite being in a unassuming storefront it really looked like a diner inside. I liked the booths (although they were a little snug) and the pictures of 1950s Baltimore. The best thing? I have a fondness for diners. While visiting my brother, he suggested we check out this family owned diner he frequents. He said the food was great and the service was always provided with a smile. He spoke highly of the young ladies who own the place and also said he believed the family were the first Latinos to ever own a restaurant in the city. Yet another reason he was more than happy to be a frequent visitor. After hearing all of that I was excited to check out the place. We walked in on a busy Saturday morning. The place was packed but we found three seats at the counter. One of the young ladies greeted us warmly and recognized my brother immediately. He introduced us to everyone and the entire family were just as wonderful as he'd described. I decided to order the french toast with eggs and bacon. The bacon was a bit salty but it was very crispy and had minimal gristle. The french toast was amazing and the eggs were tasty as well. My sister had the pancakes with sausage patties and she enjoyed her food as well. I think my brother had some sort of omelette. The place was packed but the young ladies (mom and her three daughters) handled everything with ease. They worked as a team ensuring that the orders came out quickly, cleaning spills as needed and tending to customer needs. The restaurant's 50s themed paraphernalia was adorable and the entire vibe was relaxed and comfortable. In some ways, it almost felt as though you'd really stepped back time. There are old fashioned juke boxes in the booths where you can play 50s music. Best of all, the restaurant is affordable. We paid just under $30 for our meal which included drinks. I'd most definitely visit again on a return trip to Baltimore. If you're in the area, stop in and give it a try.... you won't be disappointed! read more

Although it was considerably packed, staff seated customers in a reasonable amount of time. Although the place was busy, staff remained courteous and friendly. Been coming here for 8+ years at least weekly. Most things are PERFECT ! Business has grown beyond belief. So ...... now there is a wait on sat and sun mornings -- a sign of success ! One thing they have NEVER gotten right is the timing of the Toast either BEFORE the mean or AFTER the meal never with the meal. Sad, but true. They have limited space on the grill but lack of multi tasking ability means one order at a time sometimes. Some extra prep time would fix this - have things a bit more ready (a steam table would solve the problem. Burners to flip eggs waffle house style would solve the limited grill space cutting down order to service time in 1/2 on those busy mornings. My daughter told me about this establishment. We went on an afternoon during the middle of the week. The place was busy but not packed. We were waited on promptly and our drinks were quickly in front of us. We both got hamburgers and fries. I enjoy watching the hustle and bustle of a diner as the grill is in front of us and the waitresses get the food to the customers. The burger is actually fairly impressive. The service is a little slow, but that's understandable when there's one cook. Very small, cute diner. Drove right past it the first time, but then saw it nestled between two shops. Service was great! Server was nice and friendly. The food was good for the price. My husband had eggs, potatoes, sausage, and pancakes while I had a omlett with potatoes and toast. Our bill was just about $16, which was great!! The food was good and deserved 4 stars. But then came the large bug crawling on the wall. Once the server was notified of it, she killed and scooped it up with the cloth that the tables are cleaned with.
