It hurts my heart to have to write this review because I thought the owners and employees were good people but I need to make this known! I'm Very very very disappointed in my overall nail service and the customer service that I received this afternoon. *** -Linda did my toes which look fabulous but my fingernails look like horrible. I got a gel fill with shellac. When I complained Linda told me that she could fix them right now and only right now and it would take at least another hour.... Stating that the only time she would redo them was today. She refused to make time to do them when I have time to come back. No time tomorrow or over the next few days. I'd already been there for 2 hours and did not have time to stay there any longer. ***I'm very disappointed by the customer service and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. So many of my friends go here. Ladies, How can you ? Do you ever leave dissatisfied ? I'm extremely saddened by how I was treated. And the owners did not come out and say anything. I paid for my services and I tipped for my services received. However, Linda, even if you were tired, hungry, had a long day or whatever, you should be ashamed of your behavior and your work. :-( read more

I always enjoyed going here but recently something has changed. My technician today was angry and took it out on my toes. My manicure was done poorly with nails not even being filed smooth. The person I went to before got fired. After this second try with a new person I quit. I won't go back again. read more

I have made the rounds in Holland, trying to find a good pedicure salon that wasn't going to cost a fortune and give me ingrown toenails or fungal infections. Finally was referred to this one by one of my clients, and I am so thankful!!! Excellent customer service here - I first had them put on acrylics (old habit from long ago), and lived with those for about 6 weeks before deciding I wanted to try the gel nails instead. No problem, they went right to work and were SO GENTLE taking those puppies off! Then they helped me choose the right color, etc. They also listened to my feedback, so I walked out of there with the perfect color and length for me. My pedicure is spot on, too by the way. And they didn't cut down the sides (gives me an ingrown nail when you do that), and it has lasted weeks now without needing a touch up. I'm a doctor and in Holland for vacation. I decided to go for a basic old fashion pedicure- NOT the spa. I explained I have a medical issue and the lady owner gave me the mocking looks, ridicules and facial insults for my simple request. ?!? I re-explained this to my pedicurist and in that course and my frustration, I discussed my medical issue with the two other customers next to me, who easy understood my situation and in turn tried to re-explain it to the helpers. The Vietnamse/Chinese?? owner lady came out again with full blown rudeness, arrogance, and ill-education and mocked me again for choosing an old fashion pedicure with min water submersion? Uuugh! So rude! If this was how she treats her customer/s, just imaging how she treats her employees! Sad! Boycott this place. Southside Nails doesn't deserve our business. Maybe someday, the owner will somehow learn to treat people with dignity and respect. But I highly doubt she not learn this anytime soon. read more

I had an awful experience at this salon. It is sad that this is my first time writing a review, but this needs to be said. I have been to South Side multiple times to get acrylics. I had okay results each time. After 6 months I went back to South Side, with a friend, to get shellac on my nails for our upcoming dance. I was ten minutes late, but my friend had already arrived to get started on her toes. When I arrived I was given nasty looks and was told to go "sit over there" I sat down and the man said "you know your late" and I replied that I knew I was and apologized. As he began to do my nails he looked at them in disgust as I had paint under them from working on an art project in school. He also seemed very pissed off that one of my nails was cut shorter (because I had a cut on that finger and had to clip the nail) He proceeded to do my nails. He only filed them and then began painting. Not giving me a "full manicure" to which I paid for. He then asked my why I was late. First off I am 16 and have worked multiple summers at restaurants and I know better than him how to treat customers. You never ask why they were late or question them especially with attitude or in a rude way. He then explained he wanted my friend and I to finish at the same time. Although I waited for her for 20 minutes to get her nails finished. Which I didn't mind at all. He later snapped at me for turning to look who had came in the door as I was "making it more difficult for him to do my nails". It has been 4 days and my shellac, that is supposed to last 2 weeks, is already peeling and chipping off. In conclusion, I will not be returning to this salon in the future and was not pleased with my service. I do not recommend this salon to anyone and I will not be coming back. read more

Jenny, the owner is extremely rude. The first couple of times I went to Southside Jenny worked on me. She did a very rushed and sloppy job on my nails and was very short and rude with me. I started seeing somebody else who I really like but because of Jenny I stopped going there. I know how she treated me and I saw how she treated other customers... so unprofessional and unkind. There were times that I was in when the owners seemed to be in an argument which was very uncomfortable. There are dozens of nail salons in the area but I chose Southside originally because I appreciated their choice of music, it seemed clean although they don't disinfect or sterilize their tools and I wanted to support that business because I thought they were Christians sending their kids to the Christian school and all. After several months of not being there I took my friend in for a pedicure this morning. Jenny was the only one there first thing and already in a bad mood. She never said good morning or greeted us and while we were picking out color she said "we start right now. We start now or I run late!" She had no conversation with my friend and in fact still doesn't even know her name. When she was done doing my friends toes she walked away, never said thank you or goodbye etc. Her and the other nail tech had plenty to say to each other in their own language but unfortunately we did not have a pleasant experience. Somebody gave me a gift certificate to Southside that I may end up re-gifting. I have personally come across four other women that have stopped going to this place because of Jenny and after today I am reminded of why I don't go to Southside Nails. read more

I have been going here for at least a couple of years. The first two times it was great and then went downhill from that. I always have an appointment, but never seem to get in on my scheduled time, because they manage to squeeze someone in just before I arrive, leaving me having to wait 15 to 20 mins or more. My manicure is rushed to the point, that the electric nail filer burns right through my nail and I can feel it on my skin underneath the nail. Also, when the nail technician files the edges on the underneath side of the nail, she uses the same electric large filer, that she used to file the tops of the nails, but she does it blindly. She doesn't turn my hands around, with the palms facing up, therefore causing burns to my fingertips almost every time. This is probably the scariest part of the whole visit, as I hold my breath and pray that I don't get burned. You might wonder why I kept going back, well, I hate starting over and having to try and find a new place to go. But the last time irritated me enough to now walk away. I called to schedule an appointment, my technician was completely open and I was told that I could come right now. I told them that I would be there in 10 minutes and I was. But when I walked in, the only technician that actually had a customer, was my technician. I sat for 30 mins and watched all of the other technicians fill up with customers, that had arrived after me. My technician never apologized for making me wait, in fact, she has never apologized for making me wait. Now I'm ready to move on, but I just don't know where to go and I need my nails done now :( read more
