Went to Southside Towing to see about picking up my daughter's vehicle. But, unfortunately her car was a total loss. Dave was able to get bids from a couple of salvage companies and we signed over her car for a decent amount. Thankfully, Dave also went ahead and reduced the fees. So my car got towed last night because I illegally parked it. Definitely my bad and I called them to make sure my car was there before heading over. They were really nice on the phone and let me know I just needed my driver's license, my car registration paper, and either credit card (no American Express) or cash. They don't have an ATM onsite so definitely get your cash beforehand if you don't wanna pay by card. Showed up at lunch and the young man named Sam was able to help me right away. No fuss or hassle. I was in and out with my car in like 15 minutes. They do have a soda machine but not much else. The $392 fine definitely hurt the wallet but it's definitely an expensive lesson to learn. They have 8am auctions every Friday for cars and motorcycles. Pretty interesting and apparently a lot of people buy those vehicles, fix them up and resell for good money. Sam told us some cool stories. Overall, very unlike the negative reviews on here. Hope I don't see them again but at least they're pleasant to deal with! read more

I would like to shout out David & Southside Towing. My 4Runner was towed from my complex because of a lapse of judgement. I forgot to display my pass. Instead of going in with a contentious mindset, I respectfully asked if they could work with me with on the final bill. They could clearly see by my provided documentation I was a resident of the complex and I was accepting accountability. David reduced the exit fee for me and I was on my way to work. This place is absurd. Obviously in some kind of deal with Via Lido Plaza where they tow people and make insane amounts of money. Car was towed on a Sunday and cost me $590. A $165 gate fee was there because they're "closed" yet full staff is in there working. They're taking so much money from people I don't understand how these people feel ethical at all. Pulling a car from a public lot I WAS SHOPPING IN towing me in less than an hour and charging me that much. Some people probably can't even afford this or use their rent money because of this greed. My car was anonymously flagged as being abandoned at curbside parking at Marina Park. It was there overnight. I returned to get it today at approximately 2:25 pm and it had been picked up by Southside towing. I was informed by Southside towing staff that the cost for today alone was $528 plus $51 for each recurring day that the vehicle is stored at their lot over the holidays. Additionally fees are charged to enter the towing lot during the holidays as well. This place is committing highway robbery and wrongfully confiscating vehicles. I am filing complaints with the better business bureau, consumer finance protection bureau and civil court due to their fees being absurd compared to industry standards. Despite my attempts to explain the situation, she showed no interest in helping or understanding, insisting that I pay the full amount if I wanted my car back. Their conduct went beyond mere customer service failings; it felt like a deliberate act of deception. By telling me one thing and doing another, they not only lied but also manipulated the situation to their financial advantage. This bait-and-switch tactic is not just unprofessional; it's predatory, especially towards customers in vulnerable situations. The ordeal didn't stop at financial exploitation. In an unfounded and slanderous move, one of their employees told our tow truck driver (who was from another company and there to pick up my car from Southside) that we had attempted to evade police on the night of the crash. Even a simple request made by my girlfriend for a PDF copy of the receipt was met with immediate rudeness. This consistent lack of basic courtesy and professionalism from multiple staff members points to a deep-rooted issue within their company culture. It's clear that Southside Towing does not hold its employees to a standard of respect, honesty, or integrity. Moreover, upon retrieving my car, I noticed additional scrapes and damage that I am certain, were not there before the tow. This discovery only added to my, highlighting their negligence and lack of care for customer property. From my experience, Southside Towing has shown themselves to be without morals, leveraging their position to exploit those in crisis. I strongly advise against using their services. The owner David and his employee made the trip from Huntington Beach down to Chino Hills in order to help us retrieve a vehicle stuck in a crevice on an off road trail. Prior to Southside towing arriving, I had tried 2 other towing companies via AAA and neither of them could complete the request. My car was towed by a revenue share partnership they have with a parking plaza, which sucks. Was charged $450 for a 1.2 mile tow and a "storage fee" that was less than 20 minutes long. That being said, the guys who work there are really friendly, nice, and responsive. The car that was towed was a corvette and they made sure not to damage it which was a relief. Great, friendly, and helpful tow truck drivers, but greedy and sleazy management. read more

From that awful scene, his car was towed to and stored at Southside, Costa Mesa. Once the police had completed their investigation of my father's car and the other driver's car, I was allowed to recover my father's personal property from inside his wrecked car today.
