(This project was shortly after Covid and contractors were in very short supply.) When it was ready he informed me that the prices had gone up and he needed $17K. Then I requested a price for a portion of the basement (walls but minus ceilings in two small rooms and a closet) the price jumper to $30K! AND he demanded CASH. In any other situation I would have told him to go fly a kite but I desperately needed to keep the job moving so I acquiesced. The work took forever but they did end up doing a good job even though I felt like I got completely hosed. To make it worse, he responded to my review by claiming that it was fake and written by a competitor. I just saw that today and it really put me off so I decided to revel more about his business shortcomings: I should've added that one of the reasons it took forever to do the job is that his crew would stop every couple of hours to go out and smoke weed. And I was considering contacting the IRS to inform them that he was demanding cash but I stopped short of that action. My strongest suggestion is beware of doing business with this person because he is cleary dishonest and unethical. It would not surprise me at all if by this time he is out of business (this is July 2026). Fortunately the neighbors have CCTV installed because he is obviously a vindictive type.

Braendel Painting & Services, Inc. quoted me $3,500 to paint my kitchen. I signed a contract with…read moreBraendel on June 5, 2021, and they began the work shortly thereafter. However, the project was not completed until nine months later. I had expected the job to be finished within a few days. Throughout the project, I repeatedly contacted Braendel to address areas that had been left unpainted and sections where the paint had peeled from the cabinets. Braendel painted over cabinets that were more than 50 years old without sanding or priming them beforehand. I can personally attest to this because I was present throughout the entire project and observed the work being performed. As a result, the paint began peeling. I called several times requesting that the cabinets be repainted. Although Braendel later used a more expensive paint, the peeling problem continued. At no point did the owner or project manager contact me to ask whether I was satisfied with the work. Instead, a different painter was sent each time I reported problems. During one visit, I overheard a phone conversation between the company and the painter they had sent. Someone from the Company asked, "Is she for real?" The painter replied, "Yes. I am now painting the ceiling that was not completed." Even after these issues were addressed, the project manager never contacted me to discuss the quality of the work or my satisfaction with the project. Eventually, the last painter assigned to my job, Eric Godlewski, took the cabinet doors home and repainted them. I was pleased with the quality of his work. Before he left, I asked whether he knew anyone who installed replacement windows. Mr. Godlewski offered to do the work himself. Based on my positive experience with his cabinet work, I agreed. Mr. Godlewski measured the windows, purchased them, and stacked them on my back porch. On March 31, 2022, I gave him $4,300, and he provided me with a receipt. After that, I never heard from him again. I was out $4,300. To make matters worse, the windows that were purchased were all the wrong size and did not fit any of my window openings. Because they could not be returned, I donated them to Habitat for Humanity. I chose to work with Braendel because the company had a good reputation. Since then, I have learned that Mr. Godlewski has an extensive criminal record. In my opinion, Braendel should have exercised greater care in selecting and supervising individuals representing the company. I contacted Dan Bishop, the project manager for Braendel, several times regarding these issues. He returned only one call and informed me that Braendel was not responsible. That same week he came out to give me an estimate and a few days later he went to my mom's house to give an estimate as well. Both verbally and in text message my mom and I were told his company provided a lifetime warranty on all crack repairs and a 15 year warranty on the new drainage stone. He also stated all warranty information would be sent later that night when payment was all set. Ryan and his crew came out on 10/3 and 10/4 to repair cracks at my house as well as my mom's house. PROS: -Payment was not due until work was complete -He coordinated days to repair both of our houses on the same day to minimize us taking time off of work. This was much appreciated. -We both were happy with the work, and had minimal mess to clean up. -Pricing was very reasonable -Ryan did extra work the same day, that was not originally discussed, as more cracks were found when my husband and I were moving things away from the walls -Alleged lifetime warranty on all crack repairs -Ryan gave tips on how to properly Drylock paint the basement if we were going to do it ourself CONS: -Communication is poor and takes days for a response and honesty is lacking -To date we still have not received any warranty information despite many requests for it, and after many times being told he would resend it. I don't think Roger's even a licensed electrician, and if he is, he needs to go back to school. 3. And wouldn't ya know it, he charged me $150 to do less than nothing--He pulled out wires and plates, ripped off part of my door frame for some reason, and then just left them for me to deal with.
