Southwest airlines 20 years of service in Pittsburgh
    Hyd F.

Southwest airlines customer service is wonderful. They are celebrating 20 years in Pittsburgh. My designated customer service rep was so friendly today. I really enjoy flying Southwest.

I can't find much negative about SW accept they don't fly direct from Pittsburgh to Boston, Albany or Raleigh, where I go to most frequently.

I've flown with Spirit a lot over the years and I've never really had a bad experience, but the seats no matter where you sit suck if your 6' tall or more unless you get a big seat up front which I've flown on a lot but now they are always sold out before you book a flight it seems. I purchased an emergency exit seat for this flight because they have great leg room but the seats are so narrow due to those stupid metal spacers in between the seats that are in a fixed position. The flight attendants were average at best in the friendliness department but I have flown to several destinations where they were some of the best. Th pilots were nice and friendly. I've flown to EWR out of PIT several times with Spirit and it's usually problem free but this particular flight was delayed for one hour which pissed me off due to it being a late flight already and I had plans in NJ. It was probably due to that drone bs. There was a little turbulence but nothing too bad. It's normal on this route it seems. I sat in an aisle seat and the middle seat was empty and a very nice lady was sitting by the window who I chatted with for a little bit. All-in-all the experience was decent . The prices make flying with Spirit worth any hassles tbh. Safe Travels :)

In March 2026, my husband and I had round-trip flights on American Airlines between Pittsburgh and Miami. Their airfare, of course, cost significantly more than the airfare for a discount airline, but my husband wanted to fly on a non-discount airline in the hopes of having a better experience. We checked in and got our boarding passes without any problems. Our flights departed and landed only slightly late. The employees spoke politely with us. Our luggage was not lost. I did notice that a charger in a chair did not work.

Avoid Checking Bags - AA Will Break Them and Deny Responsibility…read more I recently flew with American Airlines (AA) and they returned my luggage with a wheel completely missing. When I filed a claim, they refused to pay for the damage, claiming a missing wheel is 'normal wear and tear.'. At first, they claimed it because of the overweight which is completely false since there is no record of the overweight when I checked it at the original airport - JFK (my flight is from JFK - PIT with AA) + the luggage was completely fine and functional (the agent of JFK airport will always check that when they checked in your luggage). After first false claim, they now say the damage is "normal wear and tear" which is really ridiculous AND again the DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. If the luggage missing a wheel, it's basically cannot function as a travel luggage. How do you guys classify it as "normal wear and tear"? and if you break something, especially property of your customers, should you step up and take responsibility and make it right to your customers? This is not just poor service; it's a violation of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, which explicitly state that airlines are liable for damage to wheels and handles. If you value your belongings, be warned: American Airlines has a policy of denying structural damage claims and will try to settle with low-value miles rather than taking responsibility. Disappointed!

Unfortunately, the airline had downgraded my husband and me to economy seats, although we had previously reserved and paid for Delta Comfort/premium economy seats. The employee at the counter could not put us back in premium economy, but she did at least change our seats so that my husband and I could sit next to each other. She printed and handed over our boarding passes. (Later, we had to call Delta to obtain a refund of the difference in price in seats.) The employee weighed our two suitcases and checked them. On the other end of our flight, our suitcases did arrive on time and in good condition. This employee also pressured us to sign up for a credit card through Delta, but we declined. My husband and I went through security, and then we easily found our airline gate. There, the employees did a good job of getting the passengers to board the airplane.

When Delta doesn't sell all those first class seats early on (typical), Delta will do a "reverse auction" by continually lowering the price of those first class seats, until all the seats are sold.Usually at rock bottom prices. But Delta doesn't want their best customers / Diamond Medallion to see how cheaply they are selling those seats to random customers, so they block us (Diamond Medallion / Loyal customers) from being able to upgrade to First for a fee. On the app, all those first class seats are just X'ed out and unavailable to us!! So next time all you diamond medallion customers are sitting in comfort plus, and wondering who paid those huge prices to get into first class, please know that those are mostly non-loyal customers that bought the seat very inexpensively!! And those inexpensive seats were never made available to you, Delta's best customers! Delta does not take care of the best customers. If I was more motivated, I would post about this a lot. I will start now. I've already started flying other airlines.

Drop-off & arrival pick-ups are on different levels (several remodeled airports are doing this) and that helps with congestion. It's just a short walk to security and once you're past that, you walk into a part of the old terminal that has a spacious concourse approach. Food options are separated a bit from the corridors allowing foot traffic to flow better. Plus the food & drink options are pretty solid, from the known to the local, and they're open early (think 5:30 AM-ish). There are Pittsburgh touches (a LOT of things are black & gold) and clean restrooms, making the travel experience much easier. Flying nowadays can be chaotic, so when an airport is doing things right, the average traveler can avoid that dreaded airport stress.
