My oldest daughter, Dasia went on to graduate with honors from Brooklyn Technical High School and Amherst College. She got her Masters from Wake Forest and will be pursuing her PHD. My daughter Alasia went to Midwood HS and graduated at 20 with her Bachelors in Bioengineering from Michigan State University. She just completed her Masters at NYU. They went when they were very young and even though they don't remember things like going to their first protest (w/ the students of UNM protesting the Invasion of Iraq in '03) or to Disneyland, they both remember Our Montessori and the wonderful teachers, especially Ms. Belinda and Mr. Chris. They remember the school down to details like the fishtank, the classrooms decorated with planets and red bicycles. When I told Alasia I spoke with Ms. Roxanne, she asked "Wow, does she remember us?" I told her yes and her face lit up. I would recommend this school to every parent. The staff is attentive, genuinely love teaching and are dedicated to the mission of Montessori. In NYC, I would have never been able to afford to send my daughters to a school like this. Ms. Roxanne's explanation of why she chose to structure Our Montessori as it is in order to make it accessible to all children regardless of socioeconomic background was heartwarming and inspirational. I went on to work in special education in NYC and I hope to design a Montessori program exactly like Our Montessori in honor of the great work they've done. I wholeheartedly recommend this school and look forward to reading all of the alumni stories of achievement to come!

She makes learning something to be discovered, like treasure he finds every day. He is always wanting to learn more about whatever they are currently studying. The Kindergartener loves his teacher too. He is learning so much and becoming a very inquisitive child. He is making great friends with the other children and learning how to talk with adults. It's wonderful that both kids are encouraged to interact with God on a personal level every day. They are asked to memorize scripture and pray regularly. Eastern Hills Christian Academy is an amazing place where my children are safe. They are learning every day and are being taught by people who want the same things for my children that I do. I never doubt that the people who work there love their jobs.

If you are at all affiliated with the University of New Mexico, (and I have a friend who audits one…read moreonline course a semester just to gain access to this place) this is a facility that is unlikely to be matched for a couple reasons. First of all, they have an unfair advantage in facilities. There's not a lot of day cares that can afford such an institution with about 9 age-segregated buildings a giant court yard, 6 age-segregated playgrounds, and a full office staff without state subsidies and student fee. So take advantage. There is a primary teacher and about two assistant teachers per room and the kid to teacher ratio is well below state standards. The facility is very organized and they have a long term development plan which goes from infancy through the Pre-K program (which thankfully got some of it's funding cuts returned.) Kids leave this place with extremely good communication skills and are able to verbally resolve conflicts and express feelings and needs maturely by the age of four. They also seem to be very well prepared academically for public kindergarten. The prices are on the high side of moderate but not out of the vicinity of other top daycares around town especially with the student discount. There is a significant waiting list of about 6-12 months so I recommend putting your new-born on this waiting list and several others even if you don't intend to start daycare for another year or so. My five year old started here when she was about 1 and a half on a drop in schedule and moved into a half day by two and eventually a full day. She always had a good time and never once complained about not liking it there. She had several wonderful teachers that still know her and me by name. They still offer before and after school care for kindergarten but we've decided to try other places. My two year old went there for about a year and loves her teacher and I think the feeling is mutual.

The teachers are all very welcoming and attentive. I am always greeted by all of them; even though they are not my child's teacher. They have recently implemented an App so that you can monitor your child's progress and activities throughout the day. Its great to stay in touch and see what your child is working on. The Director has put in place a few other activities that I enjoy. My favorite one is they have the kids brush their teeth after breakfast. My child comes home every day and shows me how pretty and clean his teeth are. It has encouraged him to be more independent at home too. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

The school is located past the Coronado Mall in a beautifully kept church. The church is clean and the classrooms are medium-large and welcoming with cubbies and wonderful activity centers as well as toys. The bulletin boards and walls are kept neat with projects posted and daily and weekly activity records listed. School starts promptly and ends promptly; the school does offer before and after care, and if a child needs either care once in a while and there is room, the school allows it and the care is rather inexpensive. School starts at 9:30 p.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m. It is a nut-free school and lunches must be packed. Snacks are brought in by the parents and rotated depending on the teacher. Our teacher had us rotate by week and I enjoyed trying out new healthy recipes on the kids who, for the most part, seemed to enjoy them. The curriculum for the three year old class was outstanding. Although my daughter did not come home with papers everyday, thankfully, she always told me about what she learned and how much she loved school. At this age, a lot of the teaching involves play, but St. John's also included the whole alphabet in the curriculum and thoroughly went through it. I was also impressed that they involved the kids in the 2008 presidential election process. My daughter's teacher was very experienced and I felt that she gave my daughter great attention. The teacher-to-student ratio is also quite low which helps as well. As a Christian institution, it also supplied the Christian values we wanted our daughter to learn about even though I and some other families who attended were not Christian. Keep in mind when factoring in price into education that St. John's has ASCI accreditation and although it may at first seem costly, it is well worth it. The current preschool in Ohio, where my youngest daughter is attending and my eldest attended, costs about the same and is on par with educational value.
