Broke my tooth - went to my dentist. They suggested going to SW Oral Surgery ASAP to remove the tooth. They called for me and Stephanie got me in that day!! My tooth was pulled and screw for implant put in within 2 hours of my original dentist appt.! They showed me my total estimate before any work was done so I could decide which way I wanted to proceed. The staff were very knowledgeable. Jess was extremely kind and helpful. If I could give Dr. Oglander a zero, I would. My 89 year old cancer patient Mother was referred to him for an extraction of a root left in her mouth after a tooth broke. He convinced her to allow him to place an implant, even though her dentist had a plan in place for replacing the tooth. She was charged well over $3000. My Mother didn't fully understand what was happening. And was not given time to think about it or to talk with family. She is on hospice and still has just the implant post, which takes months to heal. And if she gets a tooth to attach to the implant, it will be much more money that should be going for her end-of-life care. Shame on him! Do not trust him! read more

Awful service. I called 5 times and had my dentist send over my x-rays and the office manager at Southwest still would NOT give me a price estimate to remove my wisdom teeth. Thankfully, I followed my intuition and went with another surgeon and had excellent results and experiences with the staff, unlike at this place. I'll explain in detail below. Dec 10, 2021 -- My dentist told me that I needed my wisdom teeth removed and referred me to Southwest Oral Surgery (SOS). 1 hour later, I called SOS. I was told that I would receive a price estimate after I sent them my x-rays. I thought, "Why don't you call my dentist, isn't that your job?" Nevertheless, I called and had my x-rays sent. Then, I called SOS back and followed up. I was told that I'd receive an estimate in 2 to 3 days. I was offered the option to schedule my oral surgery. I declined until I could get a price estimate. A week later, I still hadn't gotten word, so I called SOS again. I was told that they were too busy and that someone would follow up with mein a few days. Three days later, I called back. Same stoey, hurry up and wait. Although, I was again offered the option to schedule my surgery. Again, I declined because I needed to know the potential price. Finally, nearly 2 weeks after my first call, I got an office manager on the phone. She told me, "I can't tell by your x-rays what you need, so I cannot give you an estimate." HUH!? "What is your role on the care team," I asked? She explained that she was the office manager. "Then why are you trying to read my x-rays if you're not medically trained to do so", I wondered? I explained that all I wanted was an estimate to remove my wisdom teeth. You must do this everyday, I reasoned, so this has to be a standard question. She scolded me as if I was being unreasonable. Then, she said, "So, when do you want to schedule your surgery?" Yep, true story. I declined and called my dentist to ask for more oral surgeon options. I called 4 other places. Within 5 minutes, every single other office gave me a price estimate. I asked if they needed my x-rays? "Ohh, we'll call and get them from your dentist. For an estimate, we don't need them though. Here's the price range." Yes. It was that easy, except for at SOS! I ended up choosing Monterubio and Hermosa Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. One month after my procedure, I can certainly say that it was an easy experience with excellent results. Stay away from Southwest. They only want your money. Was told my insurance company Delta Dental would cover the surgery cost for 4 teeth removal. They would not give the cost of surgery. I paid $500 up front. A few months later I got a bill for $900! They told me to call my insurance company and get a medical denial letter. Absolute trash surgeon office!!!! Beware of going here. I had two wisdom teeth removed today and had a great experience. From scheduling the procedure, to billing, to the doctor and staff and recovery the day of....all was great. I truly appreciate that they do this and have it down to a science. I was not too nervous and literally as soon as they gave me the meds I was out, woke up and was moved to recovery. I had an appointment at 9:15 to extract 1 tooth. I was supposed to be there at 9 and I was. I finally left at 11. They were just calling my name and said it would be a while once I went back. I didn't know I should've packed a lunch for a morning appointment. The waiting room was full and they were all called in. More came in, were called in and I was still there. I had a tooth extraction today by Dr Fryberg and I could not be more impressed. I dread novacaine, but I only felt a little on the first injection and after that it was a breeze. I have had some extremely painful extractions, but this one was PAINLESS! Dr Fryberg and his assistant were very friendly and courteous, but also professional and efficient. I wish I had found him before I had the other painful extractions. The office staff was impressive and friendly, too. I will highly recommend Dry Fryberg and this office at my first opportunity. Their billing people are nightmarish. They actually overcharged me on the date of service. My dental insurance processed the claim and state that my responsibility is less than what I paid on the date of service. So the Southwest Oral Surgery now claims they didn't receive the payment from my insurance, that my insurance issued them 3 weeks ago. This is absolutely a low class operation, and I will be lodging complaints with several Missouri agencies about these practices. read more

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed here. One of them turned into a dry socket and the other one, the tooth next to where they removed the wisdom tooth was in pain and I noticed they had cut into the tooth. So I brought it up to them and they sent me across the street to their "friend" to get a filling out in the hole they created. The pain never went away and lasted about a year. I finally got X-rays done somewhere and they told me the dentist that took out my wisdom tooth (southwest oral surgery) cut out the roots to the tooth that was staying in my mouth. I just recently got a root canal on that tooth and the tooth broke in half today when I was eating... I think they owe me a tooth or something because none of this would've happened if they didn't cut out roots to a tooth that was staying in my mouth... read more

Dr. Reti extracted my daughters 4 full bony wisdom teeth. He did it in office, with iv and the whole procedure took 40 min w recovery. He is thorough with medical history and evaluation, personable, and quick. That's all I could ask for. She is three days post op-no dry sockets, minimal swelling, and doesn't need anything more than motrin. I am a dentist that has been in practice for 14 years-I know a lot of dentists/surgeons that could have got the teeth out-this is who I picked to work on my own family. I had a tooth removed around early July of this year at the Crestwood location on 10000 Watson Road. Meaning my location being listed as San Francisco is just my VPN. I eventually received the bill for what my insurance wouldn't cover. But when I called them and offered to pay it around mid September, this idiot on the other end started mouthing off this weird crap about "You need to contact your insurance provider first" instead of just taking my fucking payment already! Then when I called my insurance, they told me that it appeared that I didn't owe anything. I told them that I would take their word for it since Southside Oral refused to take my payment when I gave them the chance. Guess what? I am wondering if this business has changed hands and all old records destroyed. A year ago, I went to a new dentist who said I needed a tooth pulled. He wanted to do it himself but I said I would prefer to go to Southwest Surgery because I had been there to Dr. Hosch twice before and he did a fine job. He agreed and said he would also call and talk with Dr. Hosch. So, I called. The woman who answered, without a pause to look at any records, told me I'd never been there before. I knew better. The next day I called again, hoping someone else would answer the phone and find my records. No such luck. This time, the same person put me on hold while she allegedly searched. She came back to say there is no record of me ever having been there. My next step was to dig out my old records. I got the dates, check numbers and amounts paid. I returned to the site again and, this time, filled out their form with my information. No one ever replied. I can only guess that the person who answers the phone also handles the email forms. I gave up when I came here and began reading the reviews. While this is where I had two teeth extracted, it is obviously not the same place by its practice reputation. They had a wonderful group then. And Dr. Hosch was just fine. He double checked everything that my "then-dentist had sent him and called that dentist to confirm something. Then he pulled the tooth and, after some recovery, sent me home at ease. Well, I won't go back, of course. But I surely would like to know what has happened to Southwest Surgery and why would they deny I was ever there when I have all the evidence that I was? Something very strange is going on, I'd say. I went in for a tooth extraction, before having bridge work performed. The staff was all very friendly and efficient. Dr Hosch performed a fast and painless extraction with only minimum discomfort. My root canal split.. This is xray day. Office is clean, and but the car lot is TINY.. Had to park in back. Office staff seems 'uppty'. I gave them an xray from my dentist about 10 months ago. They told me I never gave it to them cause 'its not in the computer'. They made me come in an take another xray. I'd give them 0 stars if I could. I have an infected wisdom tooth that hurts to the point I can't sleep, can't eat, can't swallow spit, and can hardly open my mouth. I called to schedule an appointment with them to pull the tooth and they said they will not schedule me because I missed an appointment with them years ago(an appointment scheduled by a parent, not me). The receptionist told me there was a note in their system stating not to schedule me because of it and basically said sorry not sorry, go somewhere else. Had my second surgical wisdom tooth removal this morning. The first was in January 2009. My review applies to both dates. The office is comfortable and professional (even better since their fancy remodel!), and the staff I dealt with were all wonderful. They all have great bedside manner...conversational but not cheesy, and I never felt like they were in a rush, pre- or post-surgery. They were able to find my insurance even though I didn't have my card with me, and we were in and out with no problems...We got clear instructions on post-surgery care, a nurse helped my partner get me out to the car safely, and Dr. Hosch even personally called later to check on me! Great place!.....hope I never have to go back, but if I do, at least I know I'll be in capable hands! :) read more

I had all four wisdom teeth extracted in about an hour. Dr. Reti and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and caring. The office staff and assistants were more than helpful. Dr. Reti has incredible technique and I felt no pain or anxiety during or after the procedure. It is extremely important for these surgeries to have a well-skilled doctor; Dr. Reti surpasses that! This is the most unprofessional place ever. I had my wisdom teeth removed here by Dr. Hotsch in March 2020. Since then, one of my holes has been affected 3 times. When I call the first time, the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude and told me that it was not an issue they would fix and I should contact my primary dentist. Long story short that was a lie and they should have fixed the problem themselves. I finally called again and made an appt for them to fix the problem they caused and the lady on the phone again gave my an attitude because it had been so long since I was seen there (even though they are the people who told me it wasn't their problem). They open at 7:30am. My appt was for 8:30am. It is now 9:30am and I still have not been seen by anybody, so I thought I would spend my wasted time writing a review so hopefully no one else has to put up with this horrible business. Update: Dr. Hotsch was extremely rude and unprofessional. He literally ARGURED with me that there is not a hole there (even though my dentist told me there was). So please explain to me how it keeps getting infected then since you know everything Dr. Hotsch??? He shrugged it off when I told him how rude the receptionist was, but I'm not surprised given the extremely unprofessional behavior displayed by him today. Also, the worst of it is that he dug in my hole with that pointy tool and now my gum hurts. I can't began to explain how unnecessary and childish that was for him to do. He told me that there was nothing he could do besides flush it out next time it gets infected, as if I don't already know how to do that myself since it has continually got infected since the day he did the botched surgery. My son was seen in the Chesterfield office. So pleasant, staff was so tentative. Dr. Hosch was a gem. He made me feel at ease with the iv procedure which I knew the worry showed in my face. While I loved Dr Reti and his chair side manor I was a bit disappointed with the staff. The one lady was gruff in her mannerisms and not very friendly. Then there's the price change at the time of service. I was quoted $563.10 and even called back and spoke with Jennifer to make sure that's was the cost. When I got there the price had changed to $760.00. I had no choice but to pay it because I needed four very bad teeth extracted. I prepared my budget, which is very tight already, for $563.10. Now I don't know how I'm going to manage paying off my care credit card before the six month period ends. read more

I was referred here by my dentist to have 4 wisdom teeth removed. Two of which were impacted and below the gums. My doctor was DAVID DURHAM, DMD. He was very nice and professional. I didn't have to wait to be seen and before I new what happened I was waking up to find that all 4 wisdom teeth had been removed successfully. I was provided after care instructions and the choice to receive my pain killers and anti-biotics there on site or at the pharmacy. I got mine onsite to save a trip to the pharmacy. David Durham called me personally the next day (a Saturday) to ask how I was doing and if I had any questions or concerns. I thought this was awesome for him to be doing. All in all the experience was positive and I will recommend to friends. read more

I got my surgery done at this dental group from Dr. Hosch. I came in for upper wisdom teeth removal, but in the surgery room doctor adviced me to get lower teeth removed as well. Last min with no time to decide, I said yes. I regret this decision a lot, and feel that it was a kind of pressurizing tactic. Like how can you decide minutes before the surgery with the doctor standing on your head in the room ? Being scared of needles I just yes at the moment without being explained the consequences of it at all. He said you would have to take anesthesia again, so get it done at once. Even though there was no decay in the lower teeth. But To note is that he spoke very sweetly with me then, saying it will be fine etc. Post the surgery they did not provide me with the syringe to clean up. I read the follow up instructions at home and went to the office to get syringe later on. I went for a follow up today since one side of my mouth has been hurting a lot. Sorry to say this, but it was the worst ever experience at a doctors. If I could give 0 stars I would choose that. The doctor did not care to talk to me or explain to me. Cos he got his money now from the surgery. He just stayed for a couple of minutes and said he will put some dressing. No explaination whatso ever. The nurse forcefully tried to hold my hands while he was applying dressing. The other nurse poked the syringe in my wound. She knew I started bleeding out of my mouth, but did not give me any tissue to clean up. I had to ask for one myself ! Like wow! What a service, what use of time and energy. I wasted an hour for this shitty treatment from the nurses and 2 min from the doctor. I would strongly say, go to a doctor or place that would care post the surgery as well. Where they value their patients even after knowing that follow up won't give them more than 50$. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY here. If you've got extra money to spend on your mouth, this is the place to go! We received a quote for how much it would cost beforehand. Then after the procedure, while still medicated, was told that we owed still more money. We owed to the tune of twice as much as we had been quoted! They also had the pain medicine ready to hand out after the procedure. It seems odd for the dentist's office to fill a prescription in the office and charge me for it. Then when I called to pay the amount, the lady was happy to take my card information. But the book keeper was out to lunch and would process it when she got back! Husband was supposed to go in for an Eval and treat of a mass. We had xrays sent over by our dentist. Starting with the person who scheduled the appointment-- very rude, gave is no info other than only the patient can come in (which I found out later was false). We were not told a ct scan would be done prior, even though they tell me now they couldn't see the cyst on xray (then how did the dentist know it was there? ). They didn't call or give us the ability to call ahead to our insurance company to see if it was covered, only made husband sign documents to pay for it (he figured it would be sho he signed). 3 months later we get a pay due balance invoice for $280 because CT was denied. They did not give us upfront pricing as required by executive order signed in 2019. They even admitted they broke that law when I reminded then of this executive order. We could have found this cheaper, if given the opportunity, but we weren't. Hell we weren't even told this was just a consult. We were under the impression that they were going to evaluate and treat just like the referral stated. I will NEVER use this surgeon or recommend then to anybody. Being a shyster, in an era of a pandemic, where people are barely making ends meet or trying to recover from major financial losses, is the lowest of low. I have a referral to this oral surgeon to have a tooth extracted, but absolutely will find amore responsible team that doesn't try to financially screw over their patients. read more

I was referred to Southwest Oral Surgery and Dr. Kramer by my dentist for wisdom teeth extraction. My wisdom teeth were severely impacted and had waited longer than I should have to get them removed. Dr. Kramer and staff were extremely kind and thorough when explaining the process to me. Even warned that this case was difficult and the risk involved, allowing me to make final decision for care. Next thing I know the procedure was over and I had very little swelling despite a difficult case. They checked in on me multiple times and made me feel well cared for. Dr. Kramer is excellent however the bookeeping/front office staff is horrible. I paid my bill in full upon completion of treatment and then received a bill in the mail showing that I did not pay! I called and they said they would take care of it. After two weeks they still showed I still owend them money. Then I found out that my insurance would pay for this procedure so began the process of getting reimbursed. A claim was filed and sent to my insurance who approved it and sent payment to their office. I have called several time and spoke to the very hateful and unprofessional Renee.....I finally had to bring my insurance company in to get things resolved....be very careful financially before you visit this office. read more

I am a physician and went to Southwest Oral Surgeons for a dental implant. The Surgery went well but the billing office is so horrible I would have dental surgery done elsewhere in the future. The first visit was a CT for $173 that I was required to pay for while in office. The second visit was the actual implant and post op CT, for which I was charged $1700 and told that my insurance carrier, Aetna would not cover it. About three weeks later, Aetna sent a letter saying that they were considering the claim but needed CTs or xrays from Southwest Oral Surgeons. I called the office and was told I had never had any done there(Again I had had two the prior month). They said they only had xrays from my dentist, so I said to send those. Three weeks later, I was informed Aetna had paid $813.50 of the bill. I contacted Southwest Oral Surgeons and asked them to reimburse $813.50 of the $1700. I heard nothing. Went in about 2 months post procedure for a final check up and told them about the $813.50 overpayment. They looked at the computer and told me a check would be sent tp me in the next two weeks. Five weeks later(over three months after I overpaid for the procedure)-nothing. I contacted our corporate healthcare advocacy program. They contacted the office. I was told that I would receive a check for $613.50. I asked them why it was $613.50, not $813.50. The advocates again contacted the office and they said I owed them another $200 for my post procedure CT because my insurance company wouldn't pay for it. Of course, on the day of the procedure, I was told I owed $1700 because the insurance company wouldn't pay for anything. I will again send a note to Aetna. However, if anyone in our billing office had done this incompetent a job with patient billing, I would suggest they be fired. Don't go here if you plan to use insurance. They don't want to bother with the insurance and once you have overpaid them(which they will require on day of procedure), it's very difficult to get the money back. P.S. I thought double billing for a procedure constituted fraud....... read more

The staff was very nice and comforting. However, if you go here, avoid Dr. Hosch (specifically for children) . I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day or routinely looses his cool and becomes aggressive. When my 5 year old was having a hard time staying still during administration of the local, he grabbed her by the hair and smacked her head down on the head rest. I was in disbelief. After that he acted normal but of course my daughter was now more upset. He has some nerve or most likely just poor self control to behave that way right in front of the parent. He made a scary experience for a child worse. I'm sure the other doctors there are fine. I've never seen a medical professional act in a manner anywhere close to that. read more

Southwest Oral Surgery is located on Watson, just south of Sappington Road in Crestwood (they have two other locations, as well). They offer, wisdom teeth extraction, bone grafting, dental implants and a few other services. My family member had wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Branham and I thought they were very professional in the way they were set up. You have to pay your part of the estimated insurance cost up front (kind of a bummer), but overall they were prompt, timely, and professional. Dr. Branham followed up personally a few days after the surgery. Very satisfied with the service and we hope we won't be back ( oral surgery is no fun). read more

The worst bedside manner imaginable. I had my wisdom teeth removed a little over a week ago, and I came out of the anesthesia while they were still working on my last tooth. When I groaned in pain they literally said "oh shush." in an exasperated tone, then continued their political debate, because how else could they make this situation any worse? As soon as the DDS left the room, the two nurses complained about him repeatedly. They brought me to the recovery area, where they forgot about me for 45 minutes, and didn't come to check on me until I was crying in pain. Patients who came in the room after me were allowed to leave before I was. Keep in mind, I wasn't allowed to have any pain medication until I ate. I went back in today because the left side of my face ballooned up overnight. They didn't even swab it to test for infection (why not rule everything out?) they said "we're going to treat it as a dry socket." not even that it was one. Without any warning or localized anesthesia or anything, he started shoving tools and a dressing into the still new socket where he had just pulled a tooth out a week prior. That was literally the worst pain I've ever been in. My boyfriend had to jump in and help hold me down. I have no intention of coming back here ever again when my jaw is healed. read more

Phenomenal experience when I had my four wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Kramer was great and the assistants were equally wonderful. Entire process was incredibly easy apart from the post-op pain, but that's to be expected. I've waited over 1 year to post this review since I was hoping a solution would come about. On 11/16/2016 I had a lower wisdom tooth removed by Dr. Kramer. Appx three weeks later I returned to the office because I had swelling & it was not healing, Dr. Kramer flushed the area out & said some food particles caused the problem. Appx. 10-14 days I returned again with the same symptoms of swelling & not healing and a Dental Assistant flushed it out again. I was given a syringe to help keep the area clean at home. Over Christmas weekend I was in so much pain, I called the emergency number of my dentist and met my dentist at his office on Monday morning. After his x-rays & examination he said it would be best to go back to Dr. Kramer. My dentist called on Tuesday and arranged the emergency appointment & explained my problem to Dr. Kramer. At this meeting Dr, Kramer opened the area of the wisdom tooth and was pulling really hard & removed, I believe a root, he stitched it up again & when asked told me he removed a bone fragment. If it was just a bone fragment, why did you need to pull so hard. Also after I came back twice, why wasn't this procedure done on the second trip back. Sometime in November or December, the swelling in my jaw caused my jaw joint to pop. Too this day my bite is off & I have difficulty chewing my food completely. Many time my teeth clip each other. My dentist tells me the only way to correct this is to replace or install new crowns so the bite matches up. read more

I had a lower canine baby tooth, supernumerary tooth and adult tooth that had never grown in removed a week ago. Dr. Reti was calm, professional, and very helpful before, during, and after the surgery. He made the experience (which caused me a great deal of anxiety) as smooth and painless as is possible. I am healing very well, and when I got concerned about the swelling, he brought me right in, calmed my fears, and told me what I would be seeing if there was anything to worry about.
