Ended up at this park by accident and we can't wait to go back and explore a bit more…read more At first this park seems like an open field and parking lot but if you walk over the bridge and pond, it opens up to the rest of the grounds and the Connecticut tobacco museum. They have a few farm animals like horses, cows, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, and more. The barn includes information about all of the animals and the nature center has more information about Connecticut's nature scene. There's also a trail that seems to lead pretty far out. We'll check it out next time.

Blue heron right after you enter from the south terminus. Lots of turtles basking. Eagles (adult and 2 juvies) visible in their nest, with another adult high above about 50 yds north. Another uge (we don't pronounce the "h" where I'm from) blue heron about 7/10ths of a mile from the start. Ducks, geese, hawk. Haven't seen a rabbit yet this year. My theory is that overcutting on the bank of the canal-side has caused rabbits to change their habits (seriously). No place to hide from predators. Everyone friendly...strollers, fishermen, bicyclists.... I tried to make a video of the song, "I was strolling thru the park one day, in the very merry month of May...". Lucky for the reader / listener that my phone was having memory issues. Always a 5 star!

A friend of mine had mentioned a splash pad opened recently in Broad brook, so I hunted it down! To my surprise, there is a clean looking swimming pond with a cute red slide into the water from the raft out there. Bonus! I was not equipped to swim myself today so we made our way over to the splash pad. It is on the smaller side but new, in great shape and not busy at all. There are a few benches for adults to sit nearby while the kids play. I also noted open pavilions with picnic tables and a small playground. Definitely worth a trip for small kids on a hot day. Low key. Note: there is a small fee for non town residents

The street parking nearby is free, and there are bike racks for anyone that needs them. The neighbors in that area were always very kind to me, but it's also important to be aware of their families and privacy. It's not a place for large group gatherings or non-residents to host events. There are water fountains, waste disposal, and lots of seating, but there are not picnic tables or public restrooms. It's a beautiful park and I always make it a stop on my walks!

Here isn't seating at the courts, but parents make do with the stage. There are restrooms down the hall, if you happen to be looking. I'm not exactly sure if the building is unlocked most of the time or not. But after you're done with basketball, you can take the kids over to the playground or swimming at the pool ( in the summer that is).

Looks like HVAC companies taking over the parking lot for work, one dude working out of his van was shirtless with full bear belly on display. I felt uncomfortable & left quickly. There's no park bench or anything like that along the river. The West entrance is the worst, smallest lot only fits 3 cars, long walking path to the river that's super narrow, some times only a foot wide & feels creepy, I'd avoid. The east entrance is very roomy, easily park 10 cars there with walking path 12 feet wide. However, it's very far to the river, at least half a mile walk. The 4th entrance is on Bayleys, I couldn't even find the parking lot, lol, nothing there.

One follows along the river, one crosses the river into the woods, and the third goes up a small hill. They're all three quiet and surrounded by greenery and a pleasant, although not particularly long, walk. There's also parking for a few cars at the end of the road leading up to the trails.

I arrived between 1 and 2 in the afternoon and started with Batman, which is a very fun coaster. The restraints felt extremely comfortable and secure. It can leave you a little dizzy, but it is definitely worth riding. After walking around for a bit, I made my way to Wicked Cyclone. The lines were very long, but if you come to the park often, you know which rides are worth the wait. I spent about two hours in line, and it ended up being my favorite ride of the day. Afterwards, I grabbed some ice cream near the Starbucks at the entrance. It was decent, though a bit pricey. Two cups came out to about twenty five dollars even with the season pass discount. Next, I headed to Gotham City Gauntlet and then Supergirl Sky Flyer, both of which had very short lines. After that, I rode Scream, which only had about a twenty minute wait and is another one of my favorites. I then went back toward the Batman area to ride Riddler Revenge. It does jolt your head around a bit, but it was not too bad, and the wait time was reasonable. To finish the day, I tried the new coaster Quantum Accelerator. It may not look very intense, but for a family coaster it is surprisingly good. It is very fast, has some nice airtime, and features sharp yet smooth turns that make it feel unique. Unfortunately, Superman was closed during my visit. Overall, I have been coming to this park every summer, and it remains one of the best out there, especially if you enjoy classic coasters.

come here with a PLAN! when you come here, you must budget your time, energy & wallet accordingly!…read more i came here with 3 teens, 11-15. we entered the parking at 1:50pm so i decided to skip the flash pass at $50 each, although i nearly regretted it the entire time. we were only going to be there for less than 6 hours, so i didn't think it would be worth it. it probably was, but it would be nice if they offered it for $39/pp like they used to. the walk from the furthest parking lot isn't bad if you don't have younger kids, takes 7-10 minutes, but would be a nightmare with little ones. i would have paid the $10 for a lot across the street to be closer when we left. we immediately got in line for superman, waited about 1 hour & 20 minutes in 90 degree weather. one of the kids really wanted to go on the cyborg, but we stepped in the inside room where the wait is for about 5 seconds, where it had to be 120+ degrees in there (i love saunas, just not like this) and smelled so bad of body odor that i immediately made the executive decision not to suffer for an indoor ride. they should really add ac or fans to the cyborg line. our next ride was the harley quinn which i had never been on. it was very fun, but it only makes your stomach turn once at the very top, and i probably would not wait an hour for this ride again. they kept letting flash pass people on, which is understandable, but they let them ALL on while everyone else sweated profusely in the sun for over an hour. when i was on the ride, i mentioned i was excited to finally try it, and the kid next to me said this was his third time of the day. really put a damper on the experience. after this, two of the kids went for pizza from carlini's pizza, and i got the half raspberry iced tea, half lemonade which is the best hydration in this park. the other kid ordered loaded cheese fries from the macho nacho burritos, he liked it. all of the food here, no matter where you go, is $18.99 and not justified. although, i did order a chocolate milkshake for $12 from cowabunga burger in the water park that was worth it. it is more like a frappe with how thick it is, and was the perfect treat to cool down. we visited hurricane harbor at about 4:30 for just over an hour, it was nearly impossible to find seats for myself and one teen but he ended up doing better than me in that area! the two girls went in the wave pool for awhile, then waited in the line for the tornado before being told it was down. did hurricane harbor always smell this pissy, or is it accumulated over so many years? i never remember it smelling so strong of pee, just chlorine. i used to love the water park as a kid, but based on the smell, it will remain a fond memory for me. the joker is the old mind eraser. i couldn't quite tell, until the ride where my head hit the back of the seat 3 times at the point where it slows down, to be reminded, "ahh yes, this is definitely the mind eraser, i remember this." only the mind eraser could bring back such fond memories of your brain feeling scrambled, and your head feeling a bit bruised for about 15 minutes. wicked cyclone is an older coaster made with wood & steel. it looks underwhelming but i'd argue it's one of the best rides in the park for thrill seekers. it seemed to make up for a number of disappointments on a very hot, july day, for myself and all three kids. many of the rides kept letting on all the fast passes, and letting the other line wait. wicked cyclone was the only one who allocated properly and allowed in x amount of fast passes as well as the regular line so that both lines moved. they had the nicest staff, and none of the other rides did it that way, which seemed like an oversight. six flags new england is the only real amusement park we have in new england, so rating it based on that makes the score higher, but compared to other national amusement parks, it could be better. i'd be really disappointed if it were gone. i think they can make some improvements. six flags new england holds a special place in my heart, it was one of my favorite places as a kid.
