I have been coming here since I was a child. My parents actually met here and started dating today, the chef is CIA trained as well as some of the staff food is excellent! The resort is rustic, but it's part of the charm place for everyone to hang out. What a cool place to be invited to for a wedding! Supposedly these grounds Were originally a Retreat Club for Hunters and was sold to someone who was Ukrainian, who turned it into a Ukrainian rustic resort. The views of the Catskills are amazing and I so wanted to jump in the pool. You are in the Woods here. Moss so thick and luscious you'd think you're in a fairy garden heaven. The art work on the buildings is cultural and beautiful. Food at the Wedding was delicious but I'm not sure if prepared by the Resort. Rooms to rent were very very basic. Not luxurious, basic mattress and two pillows. Clean. But basic. If you're staying here it more to be outside and in the woods. read more

This is one of our favorite places for a weekend getaway. If you want to dive in to Ukrainian culture, eat Vareniki, dance at Zabava, listen to native song this is the place to go. Nature is beautiful, stuff is friendly. The only con is that all buildings are old, and I mean very old. However it is not effecting them during summer season (they are packed most of the time). Moreover they have tennis camps, they also teach children how to swim, dance, etc. So if you want your kid to know more about Ukraine, know language this is the best place to go. read more

I was staying there 3 times in my life; once 20 years ago, then 3 years ago and lastly, this spring. The first time the roof leaked as if there was no roof at all, the second time 1/3 of the ceiling was covered in black mold and the third time big spiders were crawling on the floor, the shower did not have a shower head, the water would forcefully come out of a tap in increment accompanied by a horrible sound. The water was so rusty that we used bottled water to brush teeth and none of us could take a shower. The carpet has not been changed in the last 100 years as well as the walks or ceiling have never been painted or repaired. The TV is totally an antique piece that translates only one channel. Should I mentioned about the smell... Ohhhh, It makes me nauseated even thinking of it. Guess how much is this whole experience-$124! read more

Spectacular location, hilly, wooded location, close to all sorts of attractions but secluded when you want it to be. Beautiful tennis courts, huge patio for drinks and relaxation, extensive hiking in gorgeous terrain. Large pool with a deep area. This is an ok Catskills mountain resort. Nice pool, nice bars. They used to have a lot more entertainment in years past. Now the focus seems to be on alcohol as the major revenue source. I remember going weekly on Sundays to see cultural concerts and events. Unfortunately that's a thing of the past. The annual festival is pretty good, but get there early for parking. If you're eating on the "food court" prepare to pay an arm and a leg for some tiny pierogies and cold cabbage rolls. The concerts at the festival are excellent and the dancers outstanding. The vendors are awesome. WHATEVER YOU DO- DO NOT TURN IN TIPS FOR WAIT STAFF TO THE MAIN OFFICE. The wait staff will never see it. It seems MANAGEMENT keeps it for themselves. I've seen this happen time and time again as a guest when I ask the wait staff if they got the extra tips we left. Do them a favor - give it to them directly. They will thank you. Be prepared for no cell service unless you go into town. The wifi strength is well, weak. I guess I just don't expect to pay that much for a room, and then a lot extra for so-so meals. Tacos night? Please. But Hutzul nights are fun and usually come with live music and all you can eat dinner which is nice. The dance camp performances are free to watch and usually amazing. I really wish they'd invest more in infrastructure and some cosmetic repairs. A/C should be standard in all rooms as well as cable TV. I really hope the Q makes it- it's a competive world out there and folks say why should I go there and spend $1,000+ a week? Well, to see your friends and dance a polka. Just don't expect the Ritz. read more

Just returned from a wonderful Ukrainian/Greek wedding celebration at the iconic cultural resort Suzie Q (or the Q in recent parlance) in the Shawangunk Ridge area south of the Catskill Mountains. Nestled in a rich green landscape with jaw dropping views of the surrounding mountains it is a place to escape the madding crowds of New York, LA or other metropolitan areas one calls home. It is rustic to be sure but that is part of its charm. If you want a serene getaway with wonderful walking trails just outside one's door you could not ask for a better place. The thing that we remember most, however, is the staff - helpful, warm and courteous but the one gem on that team was Ando, the bartender. They broke the mold when they made him. He is funny, gregarious, warm, charming and able to talk to anyone and everyone he waits on. We had fun being challenged by his incredible music collection and knowledge of the original artists and the cover bands we were listening to. He made our stay there very memorable. If one visits for a weekend or just the day, the pool, tennis courts, trails, yummy fare and a drink or two at the Tiki bar regaled with stories by Ando - what can I say, it is time well spent. read more

It's a bit rustic - but it's well worth it if you enjoy the great outdoors. Food is fabulous, views are wonderful. We hiked up to the "cliffs" - well worth it. Nice big pool - but can be difficult to find a chair on weekends. Hutzul night is a must - don't miss it. Go in July for the festival. read more
