I've been a loyal Spa Castle customer from day one, even during the times they closed for renovations. I've always supported this place and truly wanted it to continue being great. Last Wednesday, we visited from around 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM (they close at 9:30 PM), so we were mindful not to rush them or their closing shift. Overall, the spa experience itself was good. The facilities were fine, and the food was absolutely chef's kiss as always -- that part never disappoints. I also understand that prices have gone up, and while Spa Castle is now priced similarly to SoJo Spa, I didn't mind paying more since everything else in life has also gone up. However, the experience was completely ruined at the very end. When we were about to leave, we realized there were no hair dryers at all -- not even one. Yes, you read that right: a spa with NO hair dryers. I asked the three ladies at the front desk if there were any hair dryers available, and they told me, "We don't have any. Customers steal them." I was shocked. That is not the customer's responsibility -- it's the spa's responsibility to manage and replace basic amenities. A hair dryer is a basic service at any spa, especially in winter, when it's cold outside and people cannot walk out with wet hair. When we went to check out, a male and a female staff member were at the counter. The man asked how our experience was, and I honestly said everything was fine except for the fact that there were no hair dryers, which was very disappointing. He looked at the female staff member, and she said, "We do have one hair dryer. Did you ask them?" I told her yes -- we asked twice, and three employees told us there were none. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, her tone was rude and dismissive. There was no effort to resolve the issue or even acknowledge how uncomfortable and unfair that situation was. No spa should send guests out into the cold with wet hair after they paid full price for the experience. Sadly, the lack of basic amenities and the unprofessional attitude at the front desk completely ruined what could have been a great visit. I was very disappointed, especially as someone who has supported Spa Castle for years. At this point, I would rather go to King Spa or SoJo Spa, where customer service and basic spa standards are taken seriously. Very upsetting experience, and sadly, I don't think I'll be returning.

I want to preface this by saying that I came here with my mom on Mother's Day so my hope is that this place is better on less busy days. It was so crowded that none of the hydrotherapy massages were open. There was a wait for everything from the pools to the saunas. Once i finally got a place at a hydrotherapy massage the jets were so strong it nearly blew me out of the water quite literally. Think a shiatsu massage but with water pounding your back. I mean if that's what you are looking for then power to you. To be fair some of the other hydrotherapy seats were gentler. When I saw that this place would be kid friendly I really underestimated just how many kids would be there. It felt like a water park with hot water. As if water parks could get any more disgusting! In keeping with its water park motif, the floors were so dirty with cups and bandaids littering the area around the pool. They didn't have enough slippers so they just gave me one that was 2 sizes too small. I guess it didn't matter anyway because someone ended up stealing my slippers. Plus there was hair floating around in the pool. The saunas were okay but so crowded and did not seem very clean. The food was mediocre. I ordered a dolsot bibimbap and they used the wrong type of rice which was undercooked and they barely gave you any meat. I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because my mom and I did not let this ruin our day. We had a good laugh about it afterwards and it certainly was a memorable Mother's Day. We had fun but was it worth $110 per person?

I have to say for my first time at the spa place I had a good time with my friends. I always heard bad stories about this location, so I never tried it, but my friend was like she never experienced bad things there and when she goes it usually during the week when there's not a lot of people and that's what we did and we were able to enjoy every part of the location. Everybody was nice and polite. Everybody was friendly. The drinks were good. The food was good. The ambience was good. Everything about it was good. We were there from morning to close that's how much fun and comfortable. We were being there and relaxed. I will definitely will be going again. So don't go by the bad publicity or bad information you get from people try for yourself to find out how the location is.

This is my first time at Spa Castle so I can't comment on the facility and changes pre renovation. We decided to take advantage of the spa on veterans day, which was a Monday since the weather was fairly warm for fall. I was dreading to see the place packed with kids since school was out, but was pleasantly surprised. The spa was fairly empty and had so many open spaces to eat, sit, and lounge. The locker room was clean and spacious. They provided 2 towels and a robe to be returned unless you want to pay a $35 fee. I started my day exploring all the amenities from top to bottom and was impressed by the nice decor and variety of hydrotherapy jets in the pools. The outdoor deck had 2 large outdoor pools, 2 hot tubs and a dry sauna in the middle. I enjoyed trying all the massage jets and soaking in the hot tub. The main floor had about 5 dry saunas but the most impressive one was the Himalayan salt sauna. It had lit pink walls and tall mirror ceilings, perfect for selfies. It also felt like the warmest room out of the bunch. Other sauna offerings were jade, color therapy, ice, gold, Halotherapy, and infrared. Though we did not eat at Spa Castle, there were two dining options and their prices were not terrible. I think the new admission prices ($110 for adult weekends) have reduced the amount of spa goers, keeping the place clean and spacious. I spent about 6 hours here and could have stayed longer. It was truly a relaxing and therapeutic experience that I recommend. My one complaint is the price of the Korean body scrub for $95, which is almost the price of admission.

I finally returned to Spa Castle after 16 year and it was a fantastic experience. I don't quite remember much from my last visit, I distinctly recall having a great time, and this visit didn't disappoint. We arrived on a Saturday at 10:30 AM, which is pretty soon after their 10am opening, and were pleasantly surprised to find it not crowded at all. I mainly came to test the place before planning a girls spa day for December. Therefore we decided to take full advantage of the facilities trying everything... every floor, every sauna room, steam room, relaxing chairs, pools etc. Overall, we loved the experience, although we did notice that only one sauna was truly hot; the others could have been warmer. I thoroughly enjoyed the steam room in the bath area - you really break a sweat there. I also wanted to address some of the reviews I'd read before going: Contrary to what some ppl claimed, we found that the spa provided everything we needed: robes, towels, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. I can't believe I paid attention to these reviews and packed unnecessary items like shampoo, conditioner, and slippers and body lotion. And the food was priced FAIRLY. What do guy guys want? A dollar tree meal Did they even go to the lookout floor (level 4) ... we found it to be great, with prices for food that felt appropriate for a spa setting. Overall, our day at Spa Castle was great and I will definitely go ahead to plan a girls spa day for my friend's birthday in December

One of my favorite places to unwind. It is especially nice in the winter with the outdoor heated pool. I find it is always clean and the locker rooms/bathrooms are well maintained. I cannot speak for the food but drink options (non-alcoholic) are good. It can get particularly busy during the weekends but it is perfect on an early weekday.

We appreciated the different sauna rooms The heat helped with sinus and stress tension The dinner we had was a solid 6/10, it was a little low on salt and flavor but overall we enjoyed most of it. The ambiance is pretty relaxing and everyone is in their own zone. We came on a week day Tuesday evening and it was perfect and almost empty which was great and quiet Service was also good and informative

Ok, after years of wanting to try this place out, I MADE IT! Firstly, I took an uber here from the train. Spa Castle no longer provides the shuttle to Main St. There seemed to be some parking around the area, but only street parking so I suggest getting in early. As soon as I turned the corner, there was a line, but not out of the door so I was thankful. SN: I just travelled an 1hr and 1/2 from Brooklyn to get here, so nothing was turning me away. The line took around 15 minutes. $50 for weekdays and there is no time limit. I was given (1) tiny little hand towel and a watch. I went to the lockers, which sync with the watchs given. The watch number is your locker number. Pretty easy to use once you find your number. Most people have flip flops, so I would suggest that.(It really should be no shoes all together but it makes sense to have flip flops, the place has many floors). By the lockers, was the first pool room I saw. I honestly didn't even notice it was nude only. Like 6/7 different types of pools ranging from hot to cold. I was in there for awhile but then I was asked to leave because I was not nude. I told them I may come back later. Around the corner was a sauna, but way too hot for my liking. I popped my head in and out. I walked up the 2nd floor, which I immediately skipped because I wanted to see the rooftop! The 3rd floor has 3 sections outside, the kiddie zone and 2 outside pool areas with jets, showers and seats. Inside has two sides separated by a snack/food bar. Most people were getting ice cream or frozen drinks. The rooftop was nice, and is maybe on a school day it would of been more relaxing. A lot of families with their kids, kids splashing all over the place like its a water park. I also felt is wasn't that hygienic after awhile. Some jets worked and some did not. I was pretty much 50/50. I stayed up there for about an hr and a half. Moving around trying to stay in the shape when possible. After, I went back down to the 2nd second floor. This floor had a food shop. People were sitting around eating. On the side is mineral saunas and infrared red light area. Overall, It was worth the $50 dollar. I will definitely try them another time. Suggestions: Bring a towel and flip flops. Get there early. Come on a weekday.

I took a friend to this spa for their birthday. It was outrageously expensive for a facility that has kids playing everywhere. Robes, slippers, etc weren't provided. We got a massage and it was so rough and not at all relaxing although we asked for less pressure. The pool was packed! But the saunas were empty. I don't think I'd go back. It was a nice thing to do once.

After hearing and seeing Spa Castle went through new renovations, I had to check it out. I actually never experienced it before the renovations, but I think I got a glimpse of it at the check-in area. But past that, everything seemed clean and sleek. Especially outside, the construction was heavily inspired by Greece, and made everything feel so serene and grand, with plenty of hydrotherapy amenities. There were quite a number of lifeguards around for the small space. Not very relaxing in that sense. I personally loved the sauna rooms here more. They offer color therapy and infrared saunas, which I haven't seen elsewhere. The food is the worst spa food I've tried. There isn't enough variety too. The Humming Bird smoothie though, got me wanting to make it for my own from how delicious it was. It's a shame the food and game rentals closes shop way earlier than their actual 9:30 (really 9PM) closing time. Don't expect much coming here past 6PM. The service was also pretty dreadful. Make sure to check Groupon for admission deals! For a one time experience at $139 for 2 on a weekend, I enjoyed my spa day here, especially given its price and convenience of being in the city.

They close even earlier now. I managed to get here early (before 12p) and stood until close (9:30p). Nothings really changed other than they have lifeguards now (why...). These LG can bring their cellphones into the soak area... where guests are nude... NOT OK! The place is still filthy even though they were closed for "renovations" after covid. The soaking pools have so much grime and crap in them (I pulled what appeared to be a piece of wire from a brillo out the water). No photo because phones are not and should not be allowed. Although they appear to test the water for contaminants they do not appear to drain the waters after closing and actually clean the pools (feels like grainy stuff on the bottoms.) I don't not recommend picking at it because ya might vomit from what you find. This was definitely the last time I'd be here. Cleanliness is the same (gross). Only common areas, such as hallway floors, are constantly cleaned not communal areas, such as saunas and soaking waters. Loudness is the same in quiet areas. From about 5 hrs or more one sauna room (gold) was jam packed with a group bogarting the room and chatting up a storm. People talking with outdoor voices, opening and closing sauna doors never to enter. Some opened the doors to step in and yell for their friends to come in only to step out again (still loudly talking)... Food was not good at all, bland, oily and a disgrace to Korean cuisine. Waters and saunas are not as hot as they were (everything is warm or just comfortable). None of the clocks work which can be a bit dangerous in the wet saunas. Overall I'm just lucky and glad the times I've come were with discounts and I never left with infections. Oh and those ladies know how to give exceptional scrubs and need to be given all the money :)

Spa Castle has changed a lot in the last few months. The last time I went was back in April and it has changed for the worse. The have added a "Members Only Lounge" and "Aqua Lounge" on the 2nd floor. You can rent the Aqua Lounge for $20 an hour and both rooms are completely visible to those outside the rooms. In order to make room for these lounges they reduced the bathrooms and locker rooms on the 2nd Fl. After coming out of the pool there is barely enough room for 3 people to change in the locker room. Most people go back to the locker rooms downstairs, in their wet bathing suits, to change. They changed the indoor foot pool to include tables and they took out the bench that you could sit on while water would flow on your back. It looks like they will be serving food and alcohol in this pool soon. The started serving food and drinks in the other indoor pool sometime last year and its disgusting. I have seen drinks and food spilled in the pool by multiple people. They also seem to be catering to rowdier crowd without having sufficient staff to maintain order. Now that they serve alcohol this is a major concern although I see they limit drinks to 3 per wrist watch. I have been going to Spa Castle since 2007. I have had my ups and downs with the place but yesterday the vibe was really off. I think they have accepted the fact that they are not a true spa for rest and relaxation and are changing accordingly. read more

This is the super mega complex of a Korean spa out in Queens that is more than worth the trip. Do as my friend, Margie, and I did and make a whole day of it. You may wonder, just how long can I spend at a spa? Well, at Spa Castle -- easily, at least 4 hours. Because this place is much more than a spa... it is completely comprehensive and there really is something to enjoy for anyone and everyone. Margie and I took the shuttle (very prompt and timely) off the 7 train last stop and upon arrival paid the entrance fee ($45 pp on wknds). We each received the magical little numbered wristband that basically serves as your waterproof credit card throughout your stay at Spa Castle. Brilliant little contraption which makes it easy to roam around w/o carrying any cash or c/c... but beware, it might also tempt you to charge all sorts of services and food items at the Spa. We then put our shoes away and changed into our "uniform" (a pretty funny pink shorts & top outfit; grey for guys). Unless you're completely naked in the bath areas (separate for men and women, obviously) or in the pools, you're expected to be in these silly outfits. We then proceeded to strip down and dipped ourselves in several of the many different temperature baths (clearly marked with temperature ranging from 55 to 110 degrees). We each got a scrub-down as well... done in a corner of the bath area with about 4 other women (private rooms also available for the shy, but for a $20 premium). Margie and I both agreed that this had to be the best scrub ever... sure, it's a bit gross when you see the little balls of dirt sloughed off your body, but your skin will feel so super baby-soft afterwards. These women who perform the scrubs totally know what they're doing and are damn good at it. Beyond this, we enjoyed the many other amenities of the Spa. We tried a bit of everything: several of the different themed rooms in the "Sauna Valley" (color therapy, salt, jade, etc); the awesome heated pools on the roof of the place (all pools have wonderful powerful jet streams positioned to massage your shoulders, thighs, feet, etc); manicure (loved the girls who worked there); TV lounge (leather full recliners with mini TVs attached... they should get remotes & earphones though for these TVs); etc. Yep, 4 hours gone very easily. Everywhere you go in this huge complex, you'll see super relaxed people enjoying the amenities this place has to offer... there is a good mix of people (families, little kids, teenagers, older Korean grandmas & grandpas, groups of women and even groups of guys). Even though there were alot of people, there's plenty of space so I found it to be pretty relaxing. I totally needed a day of R&R and this was a perfect little escape (esp considering all the great food Margie and I had before and after Spa Castle in Flushing). We enjoyed it so much that Margie and I have decided to make this at least a quarterly excursion. read more
I was completely blown away by Spa Castle. So my friends took me here as a surprise for my belated birthday gift. At first, they kept on saying that I was going to the beach and as soon as we hit the George Washington Bridge from Jersey, I knew something was up. Needless to say, finding out I was going to a spa was pretty awesome, especially since I've never been to one before. We got there on a Saturday and it was actually pretty good crowd-wise! Not too busy thankfully. We get in there, go to our separate locker rooms, put our stuff in there and they give you a uniform to slip over your bathing suit. Definitely not form flattering to say the least, but it does the trick (wouldn't be caught dead in it though). One thing I noticed though was that there was a glass wall in the locker room and apparently that's where the nudists hang out. I personally love stuff like that (went to a nude beach last year, life changing) so I'm checking that out next time. On to the actual place. So Spa Castle is like 4 stories high with the lobby included. The floor above the lobby has a place called "Sauna Valley". It has like 6 hot saunas in it and an ice sauna. My friends went into every one of those and I've never felt more refreshed. There's a Himalayan Salt Sauna, a Light Therapy Sauna, Jade Sauna, one sauna goes up to 180 degrees (try doing some Bikram in that, it feels AMAZING), a Color Therapy Sauna, and a few others. The floor above it is a massage parlor and a napping room (you read that right) and the one above that is where all of the pools and hydrotherapy is. Literally every pool had those jets you find in your friend's hot tub and I was LIVING for it. My back felt amazing after going in there. All of the pools were clean and there was enough room and jets for everyone. The floor above that though is a restaurant and more healing centers, but we didn't travel up there since we were happy with the saunas and the pools. Ok, here's the reason this place is getting 4 stars though. The food and drink prices. Ok, the buffet I can understand. It's one of those "Pay What You Weigh" deals where you pay for however much is on your plate. The food was delicious for a buffet and actually very healthy for $12 a pound. I can live with that. What I CAN'T live with is the fact that I paid $18 for a Miami Vice that came in a small cup. Listen, I know you're a very nice spa and all that, but that price for a drink that small is ridiculous. And I know that it was the well alcohol too so don't come at that it was high premium stuff. I know my alcohol (I'm a college student, we're pros). BUT besides that though, I loved the place. I'm honestly probably gonna come back at some point. read more

I love love love spa castle ! How I love it let me count the ways 1) $35 on weekdays and so much more quiet I've been on a Saturday $45 and it was very crowded . 2)Very Clean +++ 3)After all the Sauna's ,Bade Pools etc..you will feel so relaxed. 4) Yummy Korean food I had bee bim bop one time and a turkey burger fries and cheese steak my Mom and Sis shared theirs with me and the frozen yogurt with fruit and choc sauce on a waffle was good too. 5)My fave was the water that pours on your head ,shoulders and back while you sit on the seat out side after going a few rounds with that I felt as if someone had given me a great massage the water pressure is so strong at one point I thought someone was tapping me hard on my shoulder lol 6) The second visit was the Best as i had did some research on Korean Spa's (Jjimjilbang) and learned some cool stuff about the order in which you go from hot to cold pools and such it's worth a quick google because if you have never been before you get a heads up on what to expect ( I was shocked to see so many kids on the first visit on the Saturday i did not know it was a family thing ) as well how to maximize your experience ie hot, cold ,hot. 7) read more

Hands-down (pun intended) a relaxing day spa experience! Upon paying admission, guys and gals go into separate locker room areas so I can only share my experience in the gal locker room. Yes, you are required to be completely naked when you proceed to the bathhouse (after you've stored away your clothes and other belongings safely in a locker). Some people may be shy and self-conscious about the nudity at first, but ladies... I'm telling you, there are women of all ages of all shapes of all sizes here. Seen one, seen them all. Nobody is looking at you and no one cares what you look like, seriously. Just relax and have an enjoyable time. For me, I pretty much beeline to these three spots when I'm there: 1. First floor - Bathhouse: Sweat it out inside the steam room and rinse under an ice-cold shower. Then go for a full bodyscrub (which also includes shampoo, a freshly-grated cucumber mask for the face, and a nice back and shoulder rubdown/kneading). I feel ssooooooo clean + revived after the bodyscrub and my skin feels baby soft. 2. Fourth floor - Cafeteria: I really like the Yuk Gae Jang here a lot. There are other traditional Korean food served in the cafeteria as well, all around the same price ($10-ish). I balked the first time I saw the prices on the menu, but the serving is relatively generous and the soup really hit the spot for me so I made peace. (Wiki: Yukgaejang is a spicy, soup-like Korean dish made from shredded beef with scallions and other ingredients, which are simmered together for a long time. It is a variety of gomguk, or thick soup, which was formerly served in Korean royal court cuisine. It is believed to be healthful and is popular due to its hot and spicy nature. In addition to shredded beef, scallions, and water, the dish generally also includes bean sprouts, gosari (bracken fern), torandae (taro stems), sliced onion, chili powder, garlic, soy sauce, oil (sesame oil and/or vegetable oil), black pepper, salt, and sugar. Chili oil may also be used.Yukgaejang is generally served with a bowl of rice and kimchi.) 3. Second floor - Saunas: For the rest of my visit, I pretty much pass out in the sauna rooms. I don't bother with the outdoor pool area anymore, because it's usually mad packed with kids swimming and splashing around. I'm fine soaking in one of the hot tubs downstairs (locker/bathhouse level) coz it's quieter and more relaxing for me. I have tried the facial before and it was very nice. A tad pricey though, in comparison to my usual facial place in Flushing ($65-ish) so I'll just stick to my usual, thank you. All in all, admission + lunch + bodyscrub + snack = sets me back to about $150 per visit. Not too bad, because I feel very DETOXIFIED when I leave Spa Castle. (And I have smooth and soft freshly-mottled skin, yeay!) read more

I'm surprised this place is able to call itself a "spa". It's the farthest thing from peaceful or tranquil. First we spent over 30 minutes in line just to get in. I should have taken a hint from the other patrons in line with their kids and pool floaties but my friends (who had been there before) assured me it was going to be great and that there was a "kiddie pool" (which was marked on the board). Once we got in and up to a bar area, my friends and husband each ordered an alcoholic beverage (which was extremely overpriced) but I only wanted a water. After ignoring me, the waiter finally attended to me only to tell me that he couldn't serve me water at that bar and that I had to go to another bar. I made my way through the crowd (yes, crowd...at a SPA) to another bar where I got a warm bottle of water because they were out of cold water on a very hot day. Then there are signs in all the "tranquil spas" that day no children but every spa had children and swimming and was not for relaxing at all. It was more like a public pool than a relaxing spa. I paid $50 to sit in a got public pool for 30 minutes! I couldn't stand it. I had to leave. We traveled from California to visit friends and we were told this was an amazing, relaxing place. I have fibromayalgia as well as injuries and could have really used a relaxing, stress-reducing afternoon. Save your money. read more

So glad I went! I took my daughter for a spa day (since it's a family type spa) and she's 13. I thought it would be a nice graduation gift for her, plus we'd get to spend some quality time together and get a few massages too. Well let me tell you, today is Saturday so we paid $45 each to get in and boy was it worth it. There was an awesome (waist deep) pool with strong jet engines blowing water so hard it could pass for a massage all on its own. It actually scared me a few times :-) The many different saunas were fun, clean, tranquil and HOT! Got my blood circulating just fine and sweated out a few toxins as well. We swam together, bonded, told one another jokes and ate as much of that horrible and expensive food as we could tolerate, lol. Oh and there's a really cool ice room near the saunas. It's cold and we had to go in it. I never saw one of those before... brrrrrrr The locker area;Super cool with the watch they give you that buzzes you into your locker and also picks up the tab as you go along so you're not required to carry money or annoying keys. The watch is completely water proof and plastic so I guess there's some kind of special high tech chip inside that does all the work for you. I loved the watch and found it to be so high tech and convenient. At the end, it tallies up your purchases and you pay on the way out. Noise: Yes it was noisy, loud, busy, and sprinkled with all races, ages and sexes of folks. This is the best part and I won't complain like soooo many have done on here. What's the sense of complaining about an atmosphere that the company clearly made obvious in its advertisement? Keyword; FAMILY... Sure it felt a little like Disney world or Atlantis at times, but that's what adds to this experience. If you want a quiet, upscale, completely serene, rich experience, there are plenty of adult oriented spas for that. Just not here on a Saturday afternoon. None the less, this place is awesome, clean, attractive, real Korean style, and everyone is so friendly and warm. Massage; We enjoyed an hour long foot and hand massage in a back room overlooking the 2nd floor dining area and it was great. Great hands, professional grade massages happening here at Spa Castle. We ran out of time, and that's the only reason I didn't fork over another couple of hundred bucks for a full body massage. I recommend this place, for a single person (with an open mind), or a couple (who likes to be around families and real new yorkers) or for a family (just wanting to bond, have some fun, and get away from the crazy city for a day)...... It's a beautiful spa and you can easily spend 6 hours there if you have some cash to burn. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because I think the food could be way better. I didn't like the food at all but the pina colada was really good at the swim up bar on floor 2. Enjoy! Ciao... read more

Once I loved it but no conditionally no more. I am sure they have great business but not a great relaxation sense of hue as is suppose to.Last time I went there & I hated to see people actual partying a Hollywood style in ghetto scene. That scene i could Compare with the ghetto wanna be-socialite scene & a pool party but come on guys , this is a spa. Isn't this place suppose to be a Spa session ? I see sexual act everywhere.its quite obvious see a girl humping under water & a guy is roasted down there.I don't recommend if you are coming here with a family , will make you super uncomfortable. Castle spa has to immediately get rid of bar & loud music. Its not a party place but it's a spa again.Mini vacation for some people. Thats what I think, so go with your intuition I guess. You got to have clear vision whether you want to have sex here or relax. read more

Good Afternoon Danielle F.,…
$40 a day or $30 on groupon. They also have package deals where you buy 10 passes for a cheaper price and you can use them with friends or family. The first time I came here I was like WOAH what is this place because it was huge and like a giant indoor/outdoor adult pool playground. I went with two of my friends and you get a wristband to keep track of what you buy (food/massages). After you get your wristband, you enter into the ladies/mens locker room where you change into the clothes they give you. Inside the ladies room, they have showers and different temperature hot tubs but you cannot wear clothes inside. I quickly got over the fact that I saw my friends naked, but if you're not comfortable with that, you can skip and go up a floor to the common area where they have the different temperature sauna rooms. But if you are comfortable being naked, then there are 4 hot tubs, I think the hottest temperature was 104F. There is also a cold water pool (70F) and a pool with high pressure jets for massages - which they also have on the second floor for both genders to use - but the one in the naked locker room section is less crowded. They also have a steam room and dry sauna room in the naked locker room section. In the common areas, they have different pools which you can see from the pictures and different temperature dry sauna rooms. They also have a small gym with a bar and weights you can use to do deadlifts, squats, etc. They also have a few machines. They also have a sleep room which is kind of cold so it was hard for me to fall asleep but you can bring face masks with your friends and take a nap. I had a lot of fun going with friends. You're not allowed to wear shoes anywhere in the spa once you enter the locker rooms. But I saw employees walking around with shoes on, which defeats the purpose of being clean!! Personally, the massages were really expensive so we didn't do that. One of my friends who comes here a lot said she sometimes sneaks food in because they don't always check, since the restaurant upstairs and the buffet bar is expensive. I was surprise by how many non-koreans go here, probably because of Groupon. I don't think this place is very family friendly, there are a lot of couples who go there and are very touchy. I also saw an article on how the owners of Spa Castle were put in jail because they didn't pay their taxes and owed the IRS $1 million or something like that. Would I come here more than 3 times? Probably not. There are other spas that I haven't been to like Sojo out in NJ. read more

The resting room was FREEZING and all they provided us with were small towels to cover ourselves with. The saunas and wash off pools were the highlight. BUY SLIPPERS! This is a shoeless spa but the bathroom had urine on the floor. Definitely a spa to visit on a budget but I would recommend somewhere else for a quality experience. read more
Spa castle tests the limits of the social norms and while I might not get it. They certainly know what they are doing. When you walk in you may feel like you are walking into an amusement park because of the line lay out and register. For 35 dollars you can get a day pass that let's you hang out in the pools the saunas and the dressing rooms plus explore food and beverage options. The beginning of this trip maybe a little much for the common man or women because this is a traditional spa atmosphere meaning when you get your locker you are in a very birthday suit acceptable area that I may add is not co-Ed for whoever is wondering. At this point you grab a uniform or pay for a robe and make a choice stay a la nude and jump in the Korean baths which are located in the same room area. Or as I did avert your eyes and go running up the stairs to meet the rest of your party. When you are able to refocus your eyes upstairs you will see incredible architecture sprawled out across 3 floors of relaxing goodness. They have a multitude of saunas that differ in heat and style of rooms. Mood relaxation, stone and one of my favorites an ice room to just cool off. They have outside pools and steams plus a few indoor massage pools. A bar and restaurant occupy the top floor and the Korean cuisine was fantastic. We also had a few drinks but unfortunately they cut you off at 3 which was a bit of a turn off but just drink fast get a buzz and keep on moving. We finished the trip with open air massages which were 75 dollars each and the women knew what they were doing. I think my knots raised a white flag when they were done. This place is great if you have an open mind and a full day to experience it all read more

So about two years ago, a new bathhouse was built in my neighborhood. I live in the middle of Little Seoul, and Korean bathhouses - jimjilbang - are distinctly different than Continental Club Baths, lemme tell you. There's a lot of awesomeness at Spa Castle (www.nyspacastle.com). First, the place is four stories tall and a city block big. First floor is divded by gender, second floor is food and saunas, third floor is mixed indoor/outdoor hot tubs that are open to both genders, and fourth floor is workout space and restaurant. There are times I never leave the first floor. First, the gender-segregated areas are HUGE. By which I mean... lockers, bathrooms, showers, seven hot tubs, 2 steam rooms and two saunas (one designated the "quiet sauna" so you can nap). Plus the vibrating massage chairs, lounge couches, and the open space traditional Korean body scrub and massage. I've been told by my male friends that their side has the same. The kicker about the hot tubs in the gender-segregated spaces is that they are places for mandatory nudity. This totally works for me. And not just because I'm rather fond of the female form. It's also fabulous because the giggly, body-conscious, slightly xenophobic females don't stay in that area longer than it takes to have a mandatory shower. Which leaves the gender-segregated spaces open to those of us who are comfortable with our bodies, open to the diversity of age, race, and body shapes of other women, and can relax. This isn't to say it's a quiet, high-rent space. Not at all. Lots of mothers with small children, particularly Korean and Chinese, come in and out of the area, especially on weekends. My friend Tom tells me it's similar on the men's side, once the young boys are old enough to want to be with daddy. But those ages rarely bother me. Give me a happy child splashing the water over giggly shrieking teens and 20-somethings any day. I like getting the Korean body scrub. Basically, you get your entire body scrubbed with nice abrasive gloves while being given a vigorous massage. For about an hour. Thin greyish worms of dead skin get sloughed off you until you think there may be enough to build a doppleganger. Every inch of of body was tingling afterward. The mixed pools, indoor/outdoor, are places to wear your swim suit. Actually, "hot tubs." Since each of them is big enough to hold 12-20 people. Plus the Japanese pine bath. After a pleasant soak, we often eat on site (in addition to the salad and noodle buffet, there's a sushi bar, frozen yogurt, hamburgers... welcome to my borough!), and relax for a few hours before heading home. My trans colleagues do lament that the mandatory nudity in the gender-segregated spaces is frustrating. However, the equally mandatory uniforms in all other areas does equal the playing field. read more

*If you want peace and quiet you must go in the AM ! and that's what I did. This place is relaxing, very neat- and respectful. The bathrooms were very clean and also had a place to blow dry your hair, lotion up and even brush your teeth! The admission price is worth it ! And you get to be there all day. I got the 30 min body scrub and it was AWESOME! HER HANDS WERE busy for the whole 30 mins. I got my money's worth. Love this place. Just don't come after 12...it will be crowded. read more

Found a Lunar New Year coupon on their site for $15 off each person and used it the following weekend. I doubt I'd ever pay full price especially on a weekend ($50), but for $35, the bf & I were pretty satisfied with our first visit. Hopefully they reopen soon and fix up all their issues since I'd like to go back, perhaps with some of my lady friends & during a less crowded time. While I like the facilities at King Spa in NJ a lot more, I do like that Spa Castle is more co-ed friendly and in general better for those who are not comfortable with being nude in front of others. It's a nice place to go with your SO, friends who aren't the same gender, or just friends who just aren't as comfortable w/ nudity. It seems like they don't expect first timers (or simply don't care about them) since you receive very little instruction on where to go & what to do once you've paid. Even after extensively reading reviews and tips, I still felt a little lost when I walked into the locker room. I had some issues closing my locker since the door was a bit misaligned. I had to do some adjusting and pushing for it to close properly. After changing, we wanted to get lunch from the food court but there were still 10 minutes till they started serving lunch so we got a couple of those salted eggs to tide us over (which were pretty good), and then we shared a chicken sandwich with fries from the place next to Starbucks. The food was just okay, pretty standard for a food court. As everyone's mentioned the food and drinks are quite overpriced. Try to eat beforehand or split things if you can. I wanted a bubble tea but it was a ridiculous $7 so we got Starbucks instead. So it was the weekend of Valentine's Day and it felt like it was below zero outside, but we decided to be idiots and go to the outdoor pools anyway. (Twice! Wtf were we thinking?) The pathways were either slippery with ice or gritty with salt, so the walk (run) from the exit to the pool was torture. The wind was brutal, and the water in our hair froze. It was so damn cold but honestly it was a hilarious experience and we were laughing at ourselves (and others) the entire time. Probably would have died if it weren't for that little sauna in the middle of the outdoor pools. Despite (or perhaps because of) the subzero temperatures, it was pretty crowded, probably because it was a Saturday and the beginning of the kids' midwinter/Presidents' Week break. There were some saunas we didn't get a chance to try because they were full, but we still got to go into 3 of them and laid under the infrared lights after coming out of the cold sauna. I hated the feeling of wearing the same damp uniform over my swimsuit - you get awkward wet spots on your chest and crotch. Idk how they could remedy that though, maybe provide more clean uniforms or something. I regret not bringing my own large towel and skin care items (face wash, moisturizer, etc). Tbh I wanted to give this place 3.5 (bf gives them a 4) but after all the issues that have come up recently, I decided on 3. read more

I must have gone there on a great day. Tuesday I was there from 3-8pm. I RELAXED. At around 3 there were a couple of people there with their friends, some were very noisy. As the hours passed, everyone was knocked out in the sleeping and relax areas. Whatever children were there left. It was very quiet and nice. You could totally go there and get your quiet time.... just consider the day and time you are going there. 1. There is valet parking, It's free - but tip. There is also a bus that comes and goes to the place from the Flushing Parking lot and a market place. The buses appear to come and go every 45 mins. The spa is open from 6am-12am. Reading the signs, it appears as if they actually start closing at 11:30pm. The last bus leaves at 12:15am. 2. The staff is multilingual. I had no problem with communication. On the day I went, I only took advantage of all the facilities offered to me at $35. There are big signs everywhere telling you where everything is. Upon entrance you will pay the admission fee. You will then receive a waterproof wrist band, which has a number on it. This number wristband will act as your key for opening up your locker and your credit card. You will then proceed to the lockers, a few steps into your locker you will see the shoe placement room, you lock up your shoes in the locker of your designated number. You will then pick up your toothbrush and uniform (girls have an orange top and pink shorts in the guys locker room you will pick up yours I assume. Guy uniforms are grey top and blue long shorts). You will then go to your clothing/personal belongings locker, change and put your stuff away. 3. The floor of the lockers have a separate room, it's very big and that is where you go in nude. Totally avoidable. I took advantage of that room. There are several pools with different temps and jets. There are also two sauna rooms, public scrubbing area off to the side, two rooms of showers, an open shower area and a sit down wash area. Just in case any girls are wondering..... it appears as if no one shaves and no one is staring at you... lol Outside of that nude room, all the way at the end of the locker rooms there is the private scrubbing area. They have two saunas, relax room, massage chairs and the stairs leading to the 1st Floor. 2. The 1st floor is a big area. The massage and aesthetic spa is located to the right. It's called "Lavender". Did not go inside, but it looks beautiful. The 1st floor has a cafe like feel to it, there is a restaurant serving "Americanized" food and they sell starbucks coffee as well. It's kinda pricey, for example - the cheese steak combo was like $10. There is also a jucie bar and an ice cream area. Everything seemed to be like $10, I will chomp on something next time I go. They have massage chairs, they costs $3 for 10 mins. Close to the sauna area there is a sleeping area... which is basically a wooden floor with some kind of wooden headrest. There are a total of 7 saunas. The biggest one is the loess sauna, which seemed to be the hottest. The saunas are all themed and beautiful. There are small clocks by the doors so that you can manage time if needed and before entering the temperature is displayed. 3. Floor 1F. There are two rooms. On one side there is an area to get a foot and hand massage. The other area is a dark room with leather recliners. Each recliner has a TV. What kinda sucks is that you cannot connect your TV to personal headphones, so you kinda hear everyone's TV. Although, most people in that area were asleep, my Tv was the only one one. 4. The 2nd Floor is the water area. They have a vast variety of out door pools. Two huge ones and two small. They have various sections and various jets. My favorite one was the wooden hot tub, there is a warning for that tub - expect your white bathing suit to turn brown from the wood. They also have a sauna in the middle of the area and some waterfall effect thing off to the far right side corner. Inside the 2nd floor there is a snack area, expensive as well - dumplings are $10. Corn on the cob is $3. a shopping area where you can buy bathing suits, small locker area, showers and some more jet tubs. 5. The 3rd floor is a gym, korean restaurant and a closed off conference area. Make sure to bring your sneakers if you want to use the gym. The restaurant is pretty nice, the food is good too. I posted a picture in the gallery of what I ate - it was $15 and tasted great. They also have a balcony seating area. Things to know: 1. Bring a nice big towel. 2. Second floor showers appear to be real dead. 3. There is blow dryer, lotion, conditioner, shampoo and soap in the shower area. Cheap-o quality though may want to bring your own. 4. Lot's of TVs...everywhere. 5. You have to be barefoot - or you can wear socks. No shoes unless your in the gym. read more
Came here 2 days ago with my boyfriend and we had a Living Social deal. It was also both of our first times here so we were excited to try out all of the amenities. To sum up, we went to the indoor pool, outdoor pools (even though it was 30 degrees outside) and saunas. We even took a good 2 hour nap at the sleeping area in between our visit, which was nice. Overall, we enjoyed our time here. We spent about $50 overall on food eating at Sky Garden and lobby area. I suggest eating at the lobby area since there's a larger variety of options whereas at Sky Garden, they only have average, expensive and not very filling Korean food. I will definitely revisit now that I know what to expect. read more

We have gone to Spa Castle several times. Each times it gets more of place we don't want to go. It is overrun with out of control children of parents that do not understand people come to a Spa to relax. It is not a play ground. You would think children running around like savages that the Staff would say something. No one word. Why would anyone come here to relax. The table you eat your food are not clean. Saw children walking on them with bare feet and Adult as the tables are low putting their feet up on them. Again Staff walking by saying nothing. We finally found space in the sauna we like. My wife and I lay down and a trio of women start to watch Videos on their phones and talking loudly. I have my phone watching something with headphones on so as to not disturb anyone. Finally I sit and remind the ladies this is a place where people come to relax and could they take it down a notch. They were nice and understood. An older man who was there felt a need to tell me that if I did not like the talking I should find another sauna. I reminded him that this should be a relaxing place and loud talking is not good for that. As well he should mind his own business and if it bothers him he is welcome to go to one of the other saunas that he just mentioned. At that point my wife and I decide to leave and never return. Not what it used to be. I hear the one in Manhattan has banned children, that would be nice. read more

I been to Spa Castle many time and this time was my best. My husband and I really enjoyed our experience mainly because the manager Mr. Richard Wang was very polite and kind. He walked around with a smile on his face and greet all guest with respect. All areas were clean, the pool was warm and the drink were delicious. Thank Mr. Wang and Spa Castle for the great day we had. Regards, Diana read more

Pro: I had a great experience of a full day of relaxing. There ares nap rooms, body, hand & foot massages, outside pool/inside pool, same sex bade pools where you must be nude, multiple saunas, and food/bar. The concept is great. Con: they're very overpriced (entrance fee, towel/robe rentals, food/drinks, etc...) and if you're going there to zone out from the world BEWARE that it can also get rowdy with people hanging in the pool/bar area. read more

Loved it. Things I wish I knew/thought of before... Wear a bikini (women). I spent a lot of time in my bathing suit - and it would be much more comfortable if it was just a bra and small bottoms. I stupidly wore a tankini with skort. dumb. Maybe even bring two bathing suits - if you're staying a while. That way you can get out of one wet suit and not have to put on a wet suit when you go back to one of the public areas Go on a chilly day and enjoy the pools on the roof. I'd been waiting for it to warm up - but you really don't need warm air - b/c the pools are so warm. Getting out of the pool and into the cool air is very refreshing. ... I started this review months ago and never finished. I'll have to go back to get the rest of the review right. read more

I'm not quite sure what I expected. A relaxing, fun experience where I just laze around in pools all day and then take a nap? Maybe, yeah. In reality it was a lot more complicated than that. We spent the first half hour being confused (there really should be an orientation procedure of some kind). There were uniforms to figure out. Shoes to lock away. Hallways to get lost down. Unwritten rules to break. Finally we figured it out and found our way to the rooftop pool area, which was... blasting party music. Competing for your aural awareness was a construction/repair crew loudly sawing the building. We discovered there was an in-pool bar where you could order alcohol and fried chicken. People were eating fried chicken IN THE POOL! Which is honestly kinda awesome, and yet not classy at the same time. Food prices were exhorbitant. $7 for an order of fries? No thanks, even if it means you can have the once-in-a-lifetime experience of eating fries in a pool. When we finally got in the pools, we discovered half the jets weren't working. So we meandered around, got pummeled by the few that were, got bored with that, and went downstairs. We piled some food on a plate at the salad bar. It was tasty. Then we ordered some overpriced bubble tea. It was also tasty. The bubbles were legit. Then we just hung out on the lounge chairs for a bit. That was nice. The lounge chairs were very comfortable and padded. But again I noticed the space was a little aurally lacking. If you close your eyes you could almost pretend you were in the food court of a not very crowded mall. There were slamming dishware, quick footsteps, loud kids, and myriad voices bouncing off of hard surfaces in the cavernous hall. That made it hard to be at all tranquil. After a bit of lounging we checked out the saunas. They were great! I wish I had more sauna stamina, though. BTW the 185 degree sauna makes your whole body tingle as your sweat glands kick into gear. An interesting sensation! Lastly we headed down into the gender-separated areas, where there were nude bathing pools at different temperatures. You could take a Japanese-style sit-down shower or a European-style vertical shower. Then you can dunk yoself in a pool and get all pruney and lose track of time. This was the best part out of the whole day. I finally started to feel calm. Unfortunately, a bunch of teenagers discovered the cold pool had overhead jets, and they started screaming. I guess I would too, if I had a "what does this button do?" moment and it resulted in cold water shooting out of the ceiling onto my head. All in all it was not quite what I expected. I didn't have a terrible time, to be sure. But it wasn't the tranquil spa-like experience I had in mind. It's kind of like Las Vegas in pool form, very gimmicky and earnest at the same time. I left feeling clean and also thoroughly bemused. read more

PREPARE TO GET NEKKID! Think of Spa Castle as a spa on steroids. Seven themed saunas, heated outdoor pools (fully functional in the dead of winter), beauty salon, bar, gym, and more! Not to mention, a traditional Korean bath area located in the women's locker room where everyone goes au natural (and by that, I mean butt naked). Come early on a weekday to avoid the wild children and pay $10 less. You might want to have a big breakfast/lunch before visiting as well. The food is a tad on the expensive side. read more

We went to Spa Castle on the weekend around 1pm (we purchased a groupon) but it seems like everyone and their grandmother was also there with a groupon. This means the line to get into Spa Castle was ridiculously long (about 35+ mins). After my boyfriend and I got in we had to go separate sections to get dressed. The locker room was huge and clean. I was expecting a private shower but there were just these open stalls surrounding a pool with jets but you have to be naked to go in there. The women's locker room also had saunas and steam rooms (obviously for women only). If you want to be amongst the menfolk (1st, 2nd and 3rd floors), you have to cover up in a spa castle t-shirt and shorts that they give you. At first I just thought they had an enormous staff because I wasn't given a shirt/shorts right away but quickly realized that wasn't the case. The first floor has a food bar, but nothing looked appealing, and a bunch of saunas/steam rooms and 1 cold room. There is also a sleeping station. Some of the rooms were super hot and some were tiny while others were more spacious, which meant you had to wait to get into some or keep moving and try back later. The second flour houses the large outdoor and indoor pools/jets as well as some unhealthy fast food options and the third floor has the restaurant / food court. There are bathrooms on every floor and lots of people old and young from every walk of life. It was a good way to spend 3 hours but I couldn't see being there much longer than that. When it came time to leave we had to wait on a huge line again because they give you bands that you can charge drinks/food/massage services, etc. instead of having to walk around with a credit card or cash. I can see how that would be convenient to patrons but since we hadn't charged anything, it was annoying to have to wait another 25 minutes to leave. read more

First off, this review is only for the unisex wet area on the main floor. I never ventured beyond that area. I only intended to use this area and that's what I did. Know what you're getting into: this is not your relaxing zen-like spa area. It is big, lots of running water noises, and (at least on the day I was there) fairly crowded. But it was fantastic! Firstly, and most important in my book, it was clean. Nice. But there was a great selection of various soaking pools from cold to hot. I've never seen such a large collection of pools in one spa area. Showers are numerous, too, and towels are refilled frequently. So many reviews mention all the nakedness. Uh, yeah. It's the human body. Get over yourself or don't go to this area of the spa. If seeing another guy with the same bits you have walking around enjoying the spa bothers you, I think a) you have a problem; and b) you'd be better off avoiding the unisex wet area on the main floor. I simply don't get why this is such a hang up for so many people. Anyway ... Spa Castle knows how to run a spa. I'll be back again, for sure. read more
This is a wonderful spa located in North Queens. I am dumbfounded that I did not know about this place until last summer. When you walk in you will see three floors of pools, saunas, bars, restaurants, and massage areas. The pool area is awesome. There are jet streams, artificial waves, Jacuzzi, and a heated water area. They have about 5 saunas of varying temperatures and with different stones and salts. The locker rooms are clean. In the men's locker room there is also a pool area for men only. The bar is fully stocked with beer, wine, and spirits. They limit customers to 3 drinks (a wise decision, in my opinion). There is also a Korean restaurant that offers delicious food. I took off a star for 2 reasons. First, they allow children into the spa. This diminishes the experience as some parents let their wild rugrats roam free. Second, they charged us for 2 bottles of water we didn't purchase. When we complained they presumed we were lying and checked surveillance videos to verify that we did not buy the 2 bottles. It was a tacky end to what was otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable day. read more

I remember when this place opened up. was deserted all week and it was only $30 to get in all 7 days.. that being said ti's still an amazing place to go to! Why pay for a massage when you can spend 15 minutes in there heated pool, your back to one of the jets and let them work there magic. Just be careful your top doesn't come off...happened to me twice... It's a really serene place with good food and a non-city environment. I do not like the fact that sometimes the bars aren't manned and you have to wait a bit but honestly it's not that serious! if you can't deal with nudity don't go!...and if you can and expect everyone to look like they walked out of a porn...DON'T GO! no one is shy about there unshaved private parts... now i might change my mind about this place (all the reviews about the kids) but I've never been disappointed. and honestly $100 (entrance, food etc...and no extra services) for a whole day is so little to pay... read more
$35 on the weekdays and $45 on the weekends. You can spend all day at this spa and you will definitely have an unforgettable experience... i'm still debating in my head whether it's a good experience or a bad experience. i'm still somewhat traumatized. haha shyness is NOT an option at the Spa Castle. This korean spa requires you to be completely naked in certain areas of the locker room with the jacuzzis, steam room, and other facilities. i seriously thought the nakedness was an option, but i was mortified to find that you needed to be naked in order to use the best part of the spa. Once you pay the entrance fee-- you are given a plastic watch that acts as your locker keys and your "credit card" for the day. You can charge food and massages to your watch and you pay at the very end of your visit. Do NOT lose your watch- it costs $50. Spa castle has some pretty cool relaxing rooms and sauna rooms. They have a bunch in the single-sex area and there are community ones upstairs near the food section. The outdoor facilities include jacuzzis, but keep in mind-- there were alot of little kids running around, so it's not exactly peaceful. The water wasn't too hot in the up-stair facilities, but it was warm enough. The saunas were pretty nice-- they have so many to choose from! I definitely liked the steam room and the jacuzzis in the women locker room the best, but keep in mind... that's the area where you have to be commando. After awhile, you get used to the nakedness.... but i definitely think the customer service is absolutely disgraceful. The people who work there are unfriendly and snippy. They seem annoyed each time you ask them a question. If you're willing to tolerate the rude staff, overcrowded facilities, and children running around... then definitely give this place a try. I went on the weekDAY and it was crowded.... i can't even imagine how it is during the weekend. They offer a free shuttle service from the municipal parking lot in Flushing, so it's convenient to get to... so strip down, get naked, and have fun if you decide to give Naked Castle a try...err i mean Spa Castle. read more

Spa Castle could be the best relaxation place in the world, if they would segregate the kids onto just one side of the pools. You can't relax when you have screaming loud kids splashing around, playing Marco Polo and yelling. Or make an age limit of 16 and above. Some kids are well behaved but the majority of the kids are loud and obnoxious, I'm glad they have monitors now, so they can reopen the pools due to parental neglect. But please either ban kids, or segregate them to one side of the Pool so the adults can relax. I do like their selection of saunas, and selection of pools. read more

If you're going to Spa Castle on a Living Social voucher and expecting that the place will be empty when you get there, you should probably wait a couple more months. Of course it was crowded because I went on a holiday weekend, but I knew I could deal with it. If you can't, go on a weekday or wait until next year, because the hype probably won't die down for a while. But seriously people, do your research before going anywhere. I can't believe people are complaining about the uniforms (when it's right there on the website and several videos) and the fact that they saw naked people in the locker room. The locker room leads into a communal bathing area (and yes you have to shower before getting in, no one wants a dirty body in a hot tub) and if you're uncomfortable with that, there are other spas in New York. The only real complaint I have is that the pool area was full of rowdy kids, but they basically had the same kind of massage jets in the communal bathing area, so I could sacrifice my clothes for a few moments away from the kids who were diving in despite all the signs saying not to. Also, the staff could have enforced the rules a bit more, but I'm thinking they are probably understaffed with all the people coming in. But overall, the experience wasn't too bad. I got a body scrub and relaxed in the tub and I didn't think of work or my responsibilities for a couple of hours and that was really all I came for. read more
Even though I live near the largest Korean populated area in the United States (Los Angeles), it wasn't until I visited the 2nd largest Korean populated area in the United States that I visited my first Korean spa. Getting the logistics out of the way, you start at the front entrance. The entrance fee is $45. This includes use of the pools, steam rooms, cold rooms, lounging areas, showers, but no services - like massages or scrubs. You're issued what looks like a plastic wristwatch. Although you spend the whole rest of the day looking at it to figure out the time, all it does is let you know your ID # which corresponds to your locker number. You also scan your watch when you want to buy anything - food, services, etc. At this point, if you are in a mixed gender group, you will split up and head to your gender specific locker rooms. In the locker rooms, you are issued Spa uniforms of matching tshirts and shorts. All your belongings go into lockers, controlled by your wrist"watches." Now the fun begins. The place is huge so we took some time to orient ourselves. There is a floor with the steam and cold rooms and the pools outside. There are other floors with food - the juice and boba bar and the salad bar. There is yet another floor with Korean food with tables to eat. We didn't even discover the rooftop pools, but apparently they exist. We spent awhile in the steam rooms - the ones with salt, fancy air, jade, etc. that purportedly have beneficial health properties. When we were done roasting ourselves, we took a cooling turn in the cold room, our favorite of the day. We moved onto the pools, that have jets that massage various parts of your body (neck, feet, calves, butt, back). As for food, we started off with a "breakfast" of sorts at the juice bar. I ordered a carrot apple juice which was fresh but room temperature warm. A lot of others in my group ordered smoothies that I could tell they didn't enjoy. All their boba drinks were made with flavored powders. We snacked on Korean roasted egg, which had a very faint roasty flavor. For a snack, we went with the salad bar which is priced by the pound. It's a great salad bar really with a lot of fruit and vegetables and salads. They had meats and Korean side dishes. My only gripe was that they didn't zero out the scale for the heavy plate so it was a total ripoff. For our real lunch, we ate at the Korean food stall upstairs. I had the dolsot bibimbap ($16) which was delicious. A lot of people got the taeji bulgogi (pork bulgogi, spicy) that was enough for 2 to share and came with a big basket of greens for wrapping. We split up when it came to services. Some of us opted for foot massages and apparently some were really painful and whereas others were weak and sleep inducing. One of us got a facial and she raved about it, calling it one of the best ever. I opted for the not-for-the-faint-hearted Korean scrub, public version. There is a private room version but I didn't feel like paying for more. You get naked, do a quick shower, and lie onto a table. A Korean woman in black bra and panties starts scrubbing all the dead skin off your body. All over your body. Arms, legs, feet, chest, butt. It wasn't nearly as rough as some people described it but certainly, they were not delicate with you. Periodically, they'd pour a tub of warm water over you. It felt great. Our group spent about 6 hours there that day. As you can see, there are plenty of activities to pass the time and to really get your money's worth in the facilities, you should spent an extended amount of time there. One thing that was interesting is that the demographics. It was still a good deal Korean/Asian but maybe because it's Flushing, a lot of local non-Asians too. Also, at the beginning of our day (10-11 AM) it was comfortably empty. But towards the end of the day, I thought there were too many people to be enjoyable. Now that I've been inducted in the Korean spa, I imagine I'll be going again soon. Look out Koreatown, Los Angeles. read more

I went to spa castle for the first time today after it's been recommended to me a few times...and I must say it was an absolute lovely and relaxing experience. I've seen a lot of reviews about kids but I went during the week (during the day) where kids are in school and there was no line. It was very quiet and peaceful. We walked right in and the customer service was excellent...she explained everything we needed to know to get us started. I went with my husband so we were in separate changing areas of course but once we got inside it felt like we were in a movie lol. There are so many different things to choose from: saunas, massages, jacuzzi (indoor and outdoor...there's also one that allows you to drink your alcoholic beverages in), and great food options. Now it is a bit pricey but it is well worth it! read more
I've been here twice and I must say that both experiences were decent. Both times I was here was on a Sunday. Therefore, it's super crowded in all of the pools, saunas, and laying areas. The food and massages are overpriced. So is the entrance fee. It's $35 on the weekdays and $45 on the weekends. I got a salad for $20, which I can probably get elsewhere at a restaurant for $10-$12. It's $12 /oz for all foods at the salad bar and $10/oz for fruits only.. Not worth it, but I was starving at the time. So I had no choice but to eat here. I got the shiatsu massage for $75/60 minutes. It's a naked massage out in an open area in the all women pool area. The massage was super relaxing and the staff was helpful. She constantly asked me where I am in pain so that she can focus on those areas. There are 3 outdoor pools on the 3rd floor. Two for adults and one for children. There is also 2 green tea jacuzzi. There is also a gym one floor up, but there's an extra fee of $10 to work out there. On the second floor, there are a few saunas, laying areas, massage chairs and the cafeteria. My favorite is the mineral and jade sauna. I love the aroma in both rooms so I was able to lay there for 10 min each comfortably. The first floor is where the all women pools, showers and jacuzzi is located. There is a total of 3 pools and 4 jacuzzi. You have to be completely naked to be there. One of the pools are super cold, known as the ice pool! It was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The rest is nice and warm. This was the highlight of my day because it wasn't overpopulated with so many people and noise. I was finally able to lay there and relax. Plus, I got my massage here. In sum, spa castle is a great place to relax and melt all your stress away. However, I feel that it can be too pricey and crowded. read more
I love Spa Castle! I first visited for a bachelorette party, and later for a personal and solo spa day. The price is affordable, and the place is clean. The food is overpriced, so I prefer to eat before hand and afterwards in one of the numerous tasty and budget eats in Flushing. I especially enjoy the saunas and baths downstairs in the nude area. Note: Catch the Q25 towards College Point on Main Street, to the left of Duane Reade. There's also a shuttle to and from Main Street, but it runs less frequently. read more

My first time at Spa Castle was yesterday Thursday. I went with an out of town friend from China to get some peace. I heard about Spa Castle for some time and I'm kind of disappointed. First when we got there trying to escape the Flushing crowd of screaming rude Chinese they were there. Second tooo many kids running around in and out of the spa bath. I thought the $50 a person and $30 per kid didn't deter any families from coming in stead of taking them to the beach. I think they though the spa bath is a swimming pool. Definitely NO SPA atmosphere here. They should change their name to Splash Castle instead. If you want to come here to relax don't. read more

Service sucks. I go here just a normal sauna and soak, but if you plan for treatment or scrub, don't bother, they don't answer the phone, left voicemail no call back. I went in person because I desperately tried to book appointment for body scrub. Clerk was like "oh, I don't know, I called the scrub clerk, no one answered" , she didn't really find a good solution. She just told me to buy the package anyways, even tho I can't even book for appointment? Nah thanks. I will bring my money somewhere else. read more
Was invited to Spa Castle by a friend on Presidents Day which in hindsight not the best day with everyone being off. The initial check-in process took about 25-30 mins but it's a National Day off from work/school or I guess it's to be expected. Once you get in, there is a no clothes policy once you get into the men's locker rooms. They provide clothes which are colored coded by sex when you're entering the main family or social areas. The 1st floor was my favorite since they have multiple pools/saunas with varying temperatures and mandatory nude. One of my favorite was the pool with the massaging jets which seems to be very popular. Once you're done here the 2nd floor has clothed heat & freeze rooms where the sexes now mix. This would have been more enjoyable if there weren't kids there who kept opening the door and letting out the heat. The 3rd floor has food/drinks and also has out door heated pools which I didn't try with it snowing outside but it appeared to be very popular even with it being in the teens outside and snowing. Overall, I had a great time hence the 4 stars but feel it would have been more enjoyable without the kids there. This is a family style spa but I won't comeback again on a National Day off. This is a good spot to network also since I meet several gentlemen from my profession. FYI on Spa Castle: 1. There is a shuttle bus not far from Flushing/Main Street (off 7 train) which was pretty convenient. 2. 3 drink minimum, apparently they had issues with folks abusing the no limit and this was the outcome. 3. You can't swear your personal flip flops, you have to purchase theres. read more

I must say, this place is amazing. Simply amazing. I never even knew something like this existed. As a result, I can't really base this review on comparisons to similar places, but I can tell you how fantastic my experience(s) were. First thing you do is trade your money ($35 for weekdays, $45 for weekends) for a fancy watch looking thing with a number on it. Next, men go one direction, and woman another, and you enter the locker rooms. First thing you do is take off your shoes (it's only polite!) and put them in a little cubbie that opens when you wave your magic watch thing in front of it. Then there's another, larger, locker for your clothing. At this point you can either stay nude and check out the segregated spa (numerous pools of different temperatures, showers, a wet and dry sauna, etc), or change into a pimp uniform and meet up with your friends of the opposite sex upstairs. If you're staying in the segregated part (my favorite), they've got everything you could ever need to spend hours relaxing. They've even got pools with the massage jets down there! They have sleeping rooms, relax rooms, things to read, stuff to watch on TV, and numerous helpful attendants to answer questions, and be friendly. If you're uncomfortable being nude, you'll forget all about that in about 5 minutes. You can even get an exfoliating body scrub or massage if you want to spend a little more money. And they charge it all to that watch thingy you're wearing. Upstairs is uniform only (unless you're in a pool, in which case you'll need a bathing suit). You can get some (i will admit, expensive) food, check out all of the amazing saunas, get a massage, and do numerous other pampering activities. Upstairs further are the unisex, bathing suit required pools. They have a massaging jet to hit every acupuncture point you can imagine. You can just relax in the warm water, move from station to station, and basically forget about the hussle and bussle of the city we live in. I've been there a few times, and I've had nothing but positive experiences, both from the staff, as well at the other spa-ers. It doesn't matter how you look, how big or small you are, or anything else. Everyone is just there to relax and have a good time, just like you, and that's that. This is definitely a place that I tell all my friends about, and I definitely reccomend people check it out. Personally, I prefer to go week days, since it's less crouded. As a result, I'm going to reccomend that all of you go on weekends :) I don't have anything to compate this to pricewise, but $35/$45 for potentially a full day relaxation and water massage is more than a good deal. I mean, I'm probably saving money by spending my day here than going anywhere else on my days off. Anyway, this place gets a killer review from me, and definitely check it out! read more

Are the rates cheaper during winter time?
No, the only times u can get a cheaper price for entrance is if u catch a sale, through them or Groupon.
Does anyone know the name of the soap and shampoo products they use?
Best day/night to avoid families with kids?
Unfortunately you can't really avoid kids at Spa Castle anymore. They need to implement a "no kids" policy OR a day where no kids are allowed.
Do they have man masseuses?
They do, but I believe they use females for women massages, and males for men massages.
Has anyone been there since the reopening? Any advise? Recommend?
Yes we have. We have been denied entry twice for various "spontaneous policy changes". They are very discriminatory. I wouldn't recommend it.

Not at all I went it the cold winter the water is hot outside so even if rains it feels so nice and warm you ll love it it'does not matter if rains or not you will not get cold.
I would like to book a massage. Is there an option where I can choose my Masseuse?
I'm not sure. We weren't given the option, but I recommend you call and try to communicate instead of booking via computer or using your phone.
Are all the pools heated? I really want a colder pool
They’ve not heated. Regular pools with jets. The hot tub is the only one that’s temperature controlled. Have fun!
The queens location , handicap accessible ? Elevator on site ? Thanks
I have never seen one, nor seen anyone who seemed like they could use one. I would call however, perhaps there is a service elevator of some sort that I just never noticed.
Do they charge you at the door when you have a groupon?
There is small tax fee I think. Less than 2 dollars but you pay for everything at the end. They will check your groupon when you enter however.

It's been a while since I visited Spa Castle so with a Groupon I decided to pay a visit to the "New" Spa Castle. The first thing I noticed about the "new" Spa Castle is the bright lighting in the entrance lobby. It's stark and unpleasant, definitely not what one would expect when they visit a Spa. Once I entered the locker room area, I quickly realized that there weren't too many changes. On a good note, the shoe lockers and the clothing lockers are all brand new. The shoe lockers are larger now and can actually accommodate my size 16 shoe. The front desk attendant gave me a robe, slippers, large towel and small towel and told me my credit card would be charged $35 that would be refunded in full when I returned them. Like the lobby, the locker room is ridiculously bright. I quickly put my clothes in the . On to the "gender segregated "Wet Area". This is where things started going downhill fast. First of all, it is now "clothing optional" so people wear their spandex and nylon bathing trunks without even showering in the same water that is intended as a communal bath as in traditional Jjimjilbangs. Spa Castle should be ashamed of itself for allowing this, and anyone who is aware of an follows traditional Jimilbang etiquette likely will never return. For an expensive Spa Renovation, this looked like a quick "Bathfitter" redo. The same tubs were there, but cleaned up. The steam room was remodeled a bit, but it still was the same. Some of the jets wouldn't turn off (the ones in the cold massage pool) and some wouldn't turn on (the belly massage). The temperatures of the tubs were ridiculous with most in the 90's. These are hydrotherapy baths not heated pools after all and WAY too cool. Bright unpleasant lighting has been added to the wet area including the sauna and steam room. It is definitely NOT relaxing at all. Surprisingly the two shower areas that are off to the side are dark. Their shower head and controls were remodeled but if you look up you'll see the same rusted old lighting fixtures with rusted water in them. The hall monitors come in to check on "inappropriate activity" every 5 minutes but the "inappropriate activity" takes place during the other 4 minutes. On to the second floor. Gone is the Loess Sauna, the large "barn" with dim lighting, pleasant music and a 180 degree temperature. In it's place is the new Salt Sauna. It's actually far smaller than the Loess sauna was but the mirrored ceiling and bright lighting make it feel much larger. Unfortunately, it's a tepid 130 degrees and the ultra bright lighting and mirrors make for less than a relaxing visit. The new design causes a tornado of cool air to rush in each time the door is opened. Also, there is a persistent fan rattle that is annoying. The ice room was also remodeled but it looks unpleasant now and at 59 degrees is too warm. The Infrared Sauna remains dark and was fairly pleasant. On the third floor the outdoor pools are similar to what they used to be but the temperatures are now around 90 instead of 110. These are hydrotherapy pools, not heated swimming pools and they need to be MUCH hotter. Spa Castle's best feature for years was the Hinnoki Sauna, a wooden sauna Jacuzzi with water that was kept around 111 degrees. The sauna was changed months ago to no longer be wooden, but now, not only isn't it wooden, but it's in a Gazebo instead of exposed to the sky. The dry sauna between the pools was a ridiculous 79 degrees. On the plus side, the staff was actually more pleasant than many I encountered in the past but wasn't in the same league as Jamie, a previous attendant in the mens' locker room who was always one of the most helpful over the years. But, on the whole, Spa Castle's redo is actually several steps DOWN rather than a move up. The lighting is way too intense for a relaxing spa, a mirrored ceiling in a sauna is just plain insane, and clothing optional is ridiculous. They do provide water coolers again so you can fill your water bottle. You get a robe (the waiting for an MRI type, not the thick terry type) but no place to put it as you navigate the Castle and no exchanges. Also, one big and one small towel with no exchanges. people probably forget where they put it. The biggest issue is the price. $85 M-Th and $115 F-Sun. There is NO WAY that those admission fees are worth it for this bathfitter redo. For a few dollars more, you can enjoy the pampering of the world renowned Spa in Edgewater NJ. For about 1/3 of the price you can enjoy a basic Jimjibang in Flushing with a high Yelp rating. That place charges the same admission fee 365 days a year but admittedly doesn't have outdoor pools. I have no idea who the consultant was for Spa Castle's "re do" but they obviously never visited a spa and have no idea what a spa experience is supposed to be. There is no way that this place is going to survive with the current price structure. It's just not worth it, even with a Groupon. read more

DISCLAIMER: Foul language is in abundance for this update Damn, Damn, Damn. Like I mentioned before, I was being generous giving this place a 4 out of 5. After visiting a few times, I had to render my final judgement for this score and I'll get into detail for why I give it this rating BUT I also want to touch on some pros before I shit all over this establishment. Don't get me wrong, I do LIKE this place a lot and the saunas, hot tubs, jet streams and all will make you feel like a new person. The saunas vary in temperature, feel different and will certainly detox you. The hot tubs and bubbly jet streams are nice but can be better. The place looks nice, feels nice and relaxing and CAN be a great place to relax. Now on to whats made me lower the score. After my most recent visits, I've seen a decline at Spa Castle and an incline on a disgusting, hideous demographic. As the G.R.A or Ghetto Ratchet Army (as I like to call them and of ANY and ALL races for the sensitive and politically correct) become more informed of this place, the more Spa Castle seems to be flooded with ratchet, ghetto, behemoth clientele who don't know how to act. Spa Castle used to be a decent place to have a small "get away" from the city and such untamed animals but now when I go to Spa Castle I feel as if I'm in an aquarium, sharing the waters with wild beluga whales, fat violent killer whales or I'm in the Bronx Zoo in a cage with wild gorillas, apes, tigers, lions and bears (oh my). This place has gone downhill with its demographic and for me, its a big turn off. As the weather gets hotter, its gets worse. For the GRA this is the closest they'll come to an oasis and paradise and they obviously don't believe in relaxation, tranquility and peace. They want to be loud, obnoxious, get drunk, and try to "holla at the shawties" and the dumb ghetto bitches come here thinking they're hot shit when they come together with their gurls. Besides the GRA; FUCK THE KIDS. This place isn't for fucking kids. Fuck the kiddie pool and turn that into a bigger jacuzzi or something. Why bring kids here? 95% of them don't go into the sauna and for the amount of money spent on bringing kids here you can take them to a water park or something. Seriously, kids don't belong here, fuck them. They're too loud, annoying, obnoxious, dirty and fuck everything up. Other complaints: -While this place is clean they can do some work. There's paint chips falling off certain areas, people leave their drinks and food all over the place, the sanitation has simply downgraded a little bit. -It went from 35 to 40 on weekdays and 50 for weekends. NOT a big deal and I think its fair for what you get but this place is falling off with its services. -Drinks are too damn expensive, in cheap, flimsy plastic cups, limited variety and they suck. Don't waste your money. -I think the food is good but TOO damn expensive. 12 dollars for a burger? No thanks. Save your money and eat at Flushing or bring your own stuff. -Unless you want to enlist with the GRA, DO NOT come during the summer and warmer, hotter weather. Pretend Spa Castle doesn't exist during that time. -A lot of things aren't working like they were. A lot of the water pumps and jet streams haven't been fixed since I've been going. This place is a 4 out of 5 IF: -You come during the cold weather (fall and winter) and its actually better to come during that time anyway, trust me. -Come before 11am-12PM or after 7PM (during the hot weather) Other stuff: -The pool is stupid. Come here if you really want to utilize everything else. I'd rather go to a water park or a free NYC pool if I want to be in 3 feet all around. I enjoy this place, the saunas, hot tubs and amenities and when its not infiltrated by the GRA, it can be a very nice experience and relaxing place. I love acting a fool but unlike the GRA, I understand there's a time and place for everything and during the summer you can forgot about having any real quiet time. Again, I want to reiterate that I want to keep this place a 4 since its in my borough of Queens but I guess its something like this: 2 during the summer, 4 during the cold months. Come during the cold months, since the whole point is to be hot when its cold anyway. If you want to get a tan, be next to a pool and all that summer stuff you can easily find better options, and for FREE. Don't spend 40 or 50 to be trashed by trash. read more

Well, it's been over a year since I visited Spa Castle. So, how is it now? I arrived on Friday late afternoon. No line for check in. The check in crew was unusually polite and cordial so I had high expectations. I paid the full $52.00 admission fee including tax and asked for them to check my COVID vaccination card as is required but they waved it off as not being necessary. No baggage check, no metal detector wanding. I entered a glum looking lockeroom and was delighted to see Jamie as the attendant. Jamie has been there through thick and thin at Spa Castle, and is always helpful to guests so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I got to my locker which obviously had just been used by a previous guest who had just left. I have yet to see Spa Castle actually sanitize lockers between guests. It's not the fault of the lockeroom attendants, either, because they have no way of knowing which lockers are assigned and which are being are-assigned to new guests. I already knew that Spa Castle was providing NO ammenities. That means NO towels, NO Uniform, NO robe, No Soap, No Shampoo, No Hair Dryer, No hairspray, No combs or brushes, No Toothbrush or Toothpaste, NO Razors, NO Shaving Cream. I decided to put my swimtrunks on and visit the outdoor pools. The two outdoor pools (sit down and standing) were both comfortably warm. The jets were either inoperative or operating non-stop. Wires were exposed in several of the jet controls. Since there were only about 6 other guests at the time, it was easy to find an operative jet throughout. Speaking of the guests: I was surprised at how the guests were practicing "spa etiquette". There was a family with two young children, a teenage girl with 6 of her younger female siblings or friends, and a young professional couple all acting respectful. The outdoor sauna was at 111 degrees, worth a visit to dry off before returning to the building. When the scantily clad "model" arrived in a skin color bikkini with her professional photographer, I decided it was time to leave. Sauna valley had issues. Iceland was at 72 degrees and most of the other saunas were tepid aside from the Loess which was 168, unusually low for it, and Jade which was also at 168. The Men's area, was a mess. The "Hot Pool" was at 99. One of the other jacuzzi pools was only half filled with water and was 89. The "Kiddie Jacuzzi" was at 80. Another Jacuzzi was at 101 but someone apparently put bubble bath (at least I HOPE it was bubble bath) in it and bubbles were flowing everywhere! Gay men were "prancing by" for lack of a better word, frustrated by a lack of a crowd for "steam room sex" although the steam room seemed active anyway. Fortunately, there were no families with young children in the "nude area" today. Water coolers and Water fountains were inoperative allegedly due to COVID. Other Spas in Flushing check COVID vaccination status before entering. They also provide uniforms, towels, toiletries, hair dryers, and water fountains or dispensers to fill water bottles. Spa Castle charges $2.50 for a bottle of Dasani water. It's sad to see how much Spa Castle has deteriorated since its glory days 10 years ago. It might have been able to survive during this past summer due to the popularity of their outdoor pools during warmer weather. Depsite the fact that the pools are comfortably heated even during the coldest winter days, few people have taken advantage of that in past years, and I don't think that Spa Castle is going to survive solely off the "gay steamroom crowd". Sadly, this place needs a major revamping that I doubt if it is going to get. Spa Castle sadly feels like it's in its last days. read more

I have been coming to this location for over 4 years (making at least one visit every 3 months). Spa Castle College Point provided my first Korean-Spa experience, and I can safely say I have fallen in love with the place and the tradition that it represents. I've tried other Korean Spa's (like King Spa), and they paled in comparison. The facility is spotlessly clean, the staff are courteous and ready to assist you with whatever needs or inquiries you might have. I have read a lot on this Yelp feed about the staff here being rude and / or unhelpful. In not one of my 16+ visits over the years have I found this to be true. The experience and facility can be confusing on your first visit, but don't be afraid to ask lots of question prior to or during your visit, and I think you will find that staff members are enthusiastic and glad to help. The range of saunas they have make for a full days-worth of relaxation; the hydrotherapy pools work wonders for muscle tension and stress; and the Spa Services are second to none. I've had both the Swedish and the Deep Tissue massage here and both were incredible and left me feeling limber and refreshed for days. The Estheticians, in particular, are INCREDIBLE. I have read some complaints about the price range for services being a little high, but I strongly disagree. I have had several of the facials here, and they have been far, far better than comparable treatments I've had at even pricier Manhattan day spas. I recommend the Aromatic Organic Peel for anyone who is interested in skin-care maintenance. The Traditional Korean Body Scrubs are off-the-charts! I never even knew it was possible to get skin this soft! (Plus the prices for the scrubs are really reasonable: $50 for a transformative 30 min treatment? Sold!) The Aqua bar is the perfect place to chill and enjoy a drink in a heated pool, the Korean restaurant is fantastic, and the outdoor pools are heated and open year-round (which reminds me of Spa's in Europe, where the contrast between hot and cold temperatures provides for maximum refreshment and leaves one feeling invigorated). The bottom line: when I leave Spa Castle, College Point I feel refreshed, energized, and basically brand new! A big thumbs up for my favorite Spa in NYC: definitely worth the trip! read more

First things first.. I came today with a living social voucher so this isn't about the money at all because my entrance was paid for months ago. But I want to say I think it's greedy that spa castle is charging customers the full price when TWO areas were completely closed down including the kiddie pool (which means all the kids were jumping and DIVING into the regular pools) , and because of that the other areas are more crowded. Half the Jets/Buttons in the outdoor pools aren't working. People shouldn't be paying for services that are not being provided. Also the food used to be so good at spa castle, now the menu is much shorter. I ordered a spaghetti and meatball dish which used to be great but now it was gross. I would have preferred the canned version. The drinks have become disgustingly overpriced. Almost $20 for a Miami vice when the line is ridiculous just to order the drink and the slow service to get it? So many people are crowded into that one small area just waiting for long periods of time. That's insane. I also would suggest that there should be a time limit on the three drinks policy. I understand that you're trying to control people getting out of control.. But someone who paid to be there all day, that got there at around 12 pm and stays until close, should be able to get more than 3 drinks especially because the overpriced drinks are watered down and pretty small... Maybe you should have to wait a an hour or two after the first three drinks before purchasing another? Just an idea. I liked that there was a lifeguard now walking around being vigilant from time to time because security has always been a problem at spa castle (I've been coming here for years) and I love the addition of the meditation room that was very nice. Soooo nice. I had an amazing time today because I had great company and I got my first body scrub - the ladies who do the body scrubs are great! They did an amazing job! But there is still a lot of room for improvement. And a LOT of things that need to be fixed. Ps- I forgot I wrote a review 10 months ago... Still haven't fixed the issue with the Jets not working.. No good. I still love spa castle, I'm still a loyal customer, just a customer praying for improvements to be made lol. read more

The first time I came to this place, I really liked it. Reading the reviews, you can see two types of people who come here: those who don't know how to follow the most basic rules of common space and those who are angry by the lack of enforcement of those rules. Truth be told, there's a lot of ghetto people going there who think it's a public pool. Except they get away with crap that they could not at a public pool. People complaining about the uniforms: guess what? It's a Korean spa. That's how they roll there. Also, the uniform helps to absorb your disgusting sweat so it's not left on every mat, seat and chair of the spa. Who would've thought, huh? I'm still stumped that they had to put a sign that says "do not dye your hair here." What kind of garbage person do you have to be to do that at a spa? Do you think it's your personal bathroom? People taking pictures in the nude area: are you a devolved imbecile? If you can't deal with seeing other people of your own sex naked without commenting on every different body or giggling like you're an eighth grader, perhaps don't come here. Come back when you grow up. People wearing bathing suits in the nude area. Do you not know how to read? You have like seven pools where you can wear your bathing suit, why are you wearing it at the place where it explicitly tells you not to? People with unruly children...what to say. Can you please stop reproducing yourselves? Or at least finish raising yourself before you decide to bring another human to this world? Can you teach your children basic respect for other human beings? You know it's not just you and your family who inhabit this land, right? In all honesty, I can almost understand why the staff treats all of us like garbage. It's because so many people behave like garbage and all of us have to pay for a bunch of uneducated, horny, loud, obnoxious, vulgar, rude, dirty troglodytes. Reading the articles and some comments that talk about people having sex in the pools, or hordes of men masturbating each other in the steam room in the men's sections...what to say. S**t floats too, and sh**ty people seem to be floating on the waters of Castle Spa. read more
I was on a mission to find a spa similar to this one I went to in Japan that had pools with varying levels of heat and water pressure, and this is by far the best I have tried out on the east coast! The facilities are quite clean and very spacious. It's $40 to enter during the weekday and $50 during the weekend, and you are able to use the facilities as you please (massages and scrubs are added-on amenities). They give out watches with your locker number - these watches help lock the lockers and also can be used to pay for food/drinks/massages - pretty high tech stuff. The pool complex is very spacious with heated pools located both outdoors and indoors. The outdoor space is coed whereas the indoor pools are located in the changing rooms and are gender specific/nude. There is also a bar located at one of the outdoor pools and a separate kiddie pool for the youngsters. What I loved about this place was the indoor space - highly recommend if you can get past the nudity part. Most of the pools are higher in heat here (approx. 100-180°F) and 2 of the pools are for cooling down and are approx. 50-70°F. There is also a wet sauna and a dry sauna. Also, the indoor pools are much cleaner!! The food here is gross coming from an asian with expectations of how korean food should be. It is also very expensive. My family and I ordered food at the self-serve buffet for 3 people and it was $70 total - microwavable food might've even tasted better. Water is $2.50 per bottle. There is a free shuttle service between spa castle and Flushing. Specifically the car runs approx. every 30 minutes from Spa castle to the One hotel at Union St and Northern Blvd. The shuttle runs both ways - pretty sweet if you ask me. Advice: -Bring your own towels or its $2 to rent a beach/full sized towel (otherwise they have mini towels which are free to use) -Come during the weekday, its less crowded! Recommendations: I'd have to agree with some yelpers here - management if you are reading this, please have an adults only section so that kids are not constantly interrupting my zen-mode! read more

I had a nice visit at Spacastle on a Sunday during the early morning hours..We arrived very early 8:00 am as to not be surrounded by lots of people and kids.. We spent the day and also had massages.. I was at the Spa two years ago during a week day, also started early morning.. The difference between two years ago and now is big.. Cleanliness, quiet and relaxing atmosphere, less noisy and no running around unsupervised children was how it was two years ago. Staff was always seen cleaning floor areas which made the place shine and smell clean.. This time around it was clean, but not in all areas.. The first floor bathrooms smelled like urine and the third floor pool with the jets and seats had soapy water that gave me an itch and I had to get out..the suds were not white.. My friend convinced me to dip in it later in the day again and the itching got me out right away. Since we arrived early it was quiet until after noon, many people and children arrived. I like the idea of families spending time together at this place, but I mind when I'm spending lots of money to listen and watch screaming kids run around while I try to relax and their parents are blind and deaf to the disturbance they are causing.. Kids were jumping on the couches like trampolines and not only did the parents ignore the annoying behavior of their kids so did the staff... Two years ago staff smiled and were welcoming, now they look at you as if you are a nuisance to them. In all fairness not the masseuse ladies. They were very pleasant and professional.. It's a beautiful place that needs a change in couches now and more security on each floor, enforce NO PICTURE TAKING, yes that also was going on and demand that parents supervise their children even in the bathrooms.. I will go again very early on a week day and leave before the crowd arrives. I will try it one more time only because I live near, but if there is no improvement I know many other Spas that are also great to spend the day pampering myself as I deserve..Hope SpaCastle is reading all the reviews.. read more

I recently visited the facility for the first time, despite the numerous bad reviews on yelp. It's true this spa is not your typical Day spa, and yes its true they do allow children however it's not as overcrowded and dreadful as everyone made it sound. It's Like the Six flags of spas, you welcome to enjoy all of the amenities for as long as you would like after paying the admission fee. There is no time frame and you can enjoy the facility without feeling pressured to purchase spa treatments or someone dictating which order you should enjoy the facility. Its more than just paying for the spa treatments you enjoying so much more. Your enjoying the seven different types of heated dry saunas, indoor body jets pools, outdoor spa pools, and meditation room. At first I was surprised to receive a wristwatch that would act as my locker key and would apparently hold my tab. I placed all my belongings, shoes being separate from my clothes which makes sense( Who wants there outside sneaker s with their clothes)Afterwards you see this staff at the counter for a uniform which consisted of a tee shirt and shorts. The uniform are pretty comfortable and completely make sense( I mean who wants to sweat in their own clothes! ). After spending about 3 hours inside of the facility, enjoying the heated body jets and dry saunas and grabbing a bite to eat. I finally gave in to purchase a 1 hour foot and hand massage. I figured I deserved it after a long weeks of work, the best part the tax and tip are already included in the price so I didn't have to feel awkward calculating tip and worrying about running to my locker for my wallet. The foot massage guy who's name escapes at the time was absolutely AMAZING. When I left here I felt absolutely rejuvenated , and I couldn't believe this is in hidden in Queens. I didn't have to commute far and definitely need to visit at least once a month. If you looking a quick escape this would be the way to go =) read more

Once again I am writing a review for this place. Because i decided to give it another try this past weekend to see if they had improved anything. And not surprising this place is only getting worse. I found out that the reason for all the chaos and miserable employees is because the management is NOT the same anymore. I always loved coming in to check in with Crisely, and then talk to the manager for a while, which was Kevin. We would always talk about random things and his energy was welcoming. I've encountered the managers now, and there is an Arabic girl who I saw was talking in her language while laughing at a customers face. And there is an Asian guy who looks like a high school kid running around in sneakers and jeans, who just walks away whenever he sees a customer step in. I couldn't even take him seriously. My point is, how do you expect to run a place, when you have people like this, who are not engaging and are not even acknowledging frequent customer's presence. It just all seems so boring and it sucks that almost every time I come back, it's new faces and no one knows what they're doing. Simple inquiries take hours to be addressed by who ever is there. It's just stressful at this point, rather than relaxing. I really hope this place gets shut down, because there are so many violations in this place. And I'm actually surprised that after all the complaints, reviews and pictures attached, they STILL don't get closed. I definitely will not be coming back anymore, its about time I close this chapter and look for a new hangout place for my group of friends. Honestly people save your money, $50 or $60 for an admission where you have to test your luck with the water temperatures. Sometimes it'll be cold sometimes if you're lucky it will be warm. Is not the way I want to waste my hard earned money. read more

Beware. The upstairs recreational bathing area is run by the most unprofessional wannabe thug so called life guards. Their behavior is repulsive and it is alarming that the management for this facility would employ individuals who behave and treat paying customers this way. I am a observant Muslim woman. Therefore I do not go into co-ed public areas unless I am appropriately covered. I came to the upstairs bathing area covered. I was approached by one of these thuggish lifeguards and rudely told I needed to take my covering off to be in the water. Then I was directed to an area where I could rent a bathing suit. My religious observance was completely disregarded and disrespected. Ruined my experience and those of my guests. The guards approach ,unprofessional ism ,tone ,lack of customer service was completely inexcusable. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know. So proceed with caution if your religious practices will cause the staff here to be insensitive and rude towards you as well as embarrass you. Religious discrimination. Take the time to properly train your thugged out life guards to deal with the public with respect and courtesy. Also my review is not the only review complaining about the life guards at this facility. You can provide a safe environment without insulting your guests. I suggest training be given immediately this oversight could cost you more than your establishment can bear. A few more of these and I smell a lawsuit. read more

What a cool place. There is definately nothing else like it in the new york city area. For sure worth a visit. The place itself is huge and is very nice. There are tons of areas in the facility. There are the massage areas, pools, sauna, dining, bars. The pools are the highlight of the place. Up on the roof there are a few pools which are very clean, very cute. There aren't huge, but there are not for doing laps. They are just for relaxing and light swimming. There is sundeck surrounding the pools. The decks are also nice. Again, not huge but we found lounge chairs. The bar area is cool. It is right inside from the pools. It is difficult to find pools in nyc that also have a bar! It kind of feels like you are at a resort on a vacation and I love that. The massage areas are very nice and we had a couple of massages and there were really good. The saunas areas look cool but I did not try them. The food area is kind of basic, but the food seemed fresh. It was good. The staff was very friendly. Now....taking public transportation there is a little complex. We had to take the subway then walk to a parking lot. We then had to wait for a shuttle bus. It was really bizarre, but actually kind of fun just because it was so novel! Again, kind of like you are on a vacation. Not your normal daily nyc routine for sure! I recommend it and also think it would be a great place to bring out of town guests. read more

This place used to be a perfect place to get away from hipster purgatory, Brooklyn. Hopping on 7 train for Xi'an's noodle slurp fest then hitting this hidden gem made the long train ride worthwhile. I read about death of an old man at the outdoor pool sometime last year, but this didn't really deter me from returning to Spa Castle last week. I haven't been here for a while. I guess crowd changed a lot since I was here last. What a bummer. Place got some parts remodeled so it looked nice..that is only for first five minutes. But soon I realized there's some trashy Flushing Main Street ghetto shit going down. If I ever wanted trip over disgusting food trash or get annoyed by bitchy loud mouthed girls who yaps nonstop in the dry sauna I would come here...seriously they looked like some chinese gang bangers. It was just like standing on the busy street corner in flushing, people leaving their trash, being pushy and showing zero consideration for others. I guess these people expect others to pick up after their crap since they paid their entrance fee. Hey, if you're going to act like a pig, do it in the privacy of your home. But then again spa castle's got to make money, they can't be choosy about their customers, trashy or classy Enough of my ranting. This place used to be classy and mellow, at least on the weekdays. I will miss you Spa Castle, and I won't be returning. read more

I loved the saunas! They have varying temperatures and different health benefits that they explain on a map. My favorite was the Himalayan salt sauna that was set at a moderately hot temperature. (Tip: Bring in one of the free small towels they provide to use as a pillow, to sit on, or to wipe away sweat.) Our culture is unlike most others and uncomfortable with being naked. But I thought the naked baths (gender-segregated) were great, and it was my first time trying them out. (Tip: I was super uncomfortable at first, but I did find that other people see you, but no one's really looking at you. So eventually realized there's no need to feel so self-conscious.) On weekends, they have rotating special "event baths"; when I went, Saturdays were healing herbs and Sundays were rosewater. The naked baths are located in the same area as the open showers, which enforce a "no towel/uniform/bathing suit" rule, so know that if you want to rinse off after your day but aren't comfortable with being naked in front of other people, you're going to need to wait until you get home. If you'd rather use the pools where you can wear a bathing suit, they're great as well, and you can also hang out with opposite-gender people you came with. (Tip: The massaging jets are great, and a perfectly viable and free alternative to paying $100+ for a half hour massage.) read more

This place is terrible. Management is terrible. I've been to Spa Castle many times over the course of 10 years. A week before my visit, I confirmed that the business has finally re-opened. I was so excited, I purchased six weekday tickets. On the date of choice, I checked again and it states "open" on google so our group started heading out. When we arrived, the business is closed. I was shocked. We had to leave in disappointment. The next day, I called in to see if management could do us a favor and adjust our tickets from weekday tickets to weekend tickets so we can visit the same weekend. However, this is where the terrible customer service kicked in. First, 30 mins on hold. Second, the assistant manager was rude. The only option that was offered was a refund. Which in my opinion isn't the goal of a re-opening establishment. I have six people, everyone will be grabbing food and drinks and possible a massage. Instead of being a little flexible, they rather us not come. I don't understand why a reopening establishment would rather a long term client and his referrals to not come. Take my experience as an example that Spa Castle is not the best option, as we had other choices, we choose spa castle to support the businesses in our neighborhood. We don't feel like we are treated like a neighbor, more so a nuisance. read more

If you knew how amazing this place was when it first opened you would literally cry. I used to frequent this place on a monthly basis when it first opened and it was an oasis an escape from the grittiness of the city until the low life's from the hood came and f...Ed it up for everyone. The last time I was there was like 2 or 3 years after it opened. There were some lowlife women brawling right outside the spa. Who comes out of a spa and starts fighting??? Then you had the nasty hoes humping I'm the pools disgusting!!!! Low class low mentality types taking one of the most wonderful experiences and running it into the ground. The final straw was when I heard and old man had a heart attack in one of the whirl pools on the upper level and there were no people monitoring these pools his body sank to the bottom and was only discovered after a patron stepped on his body while trying to enter the pool . Just horrible. The management is at fault for one allowing people to get away with the behavior which permeated and destroyed an amazing facility and not keeping up those protective restrictions and then just letting the place go. What an absolute shame. If you attending this place in the first two years it opened you know what I'm talking about. read more

Spa Castle offers a variety of saunas, bathtubs, aqua therapy pools, sleeping lounges, spa service, and food and beverages. Spa castle cares about your mental and physical health. Using Spa Castle facility makes you healthier in so many ways. Saunas, Use of the saunas has so many benefits such as weight loss, skin glowing, better digestion, cleansing of the organs, better immune system, etc. Heated aqua therapy pools Use of the heated aqua therapy pools releases muscle tension due to the many different types of water jets located inside the pools. Combine fun with water and get a massage at the same time. Sleeping lounge No doubt, there was a scientific study that proved people who sleep deeply live longer. After rejuvenating your body using the saunas and pools feel free to get some shut-eye in the sleeping lounge. I am sure that after sweating and taking a shower with cured water you will feel that it is time for some relaxation, want to rest, and pass out. The sleeping lounge offers a tranquil environment that allows you to shut out noise and rest without any interruptions, resulting with you falling deeply asleep. These are my guidelines and information on usage of Spa Castle. I hope this is helpful for new comers. Happy New Year^^ read more

I'm a regular at spa castle. I have always enjoyed myself even with the typical complaints cost, noise, kids etc... This time on a Monday I could not overlook the issues. When you go to a spa you want to feel welcomed and relaxed, but the line was long to get in and the staff was unable to handle the crowd. There was no management to direct the situation so it ended up very pushy and loud. They did a nice job in redoing the locker, but what's the point if it's filthy. The vanity area where they provide the lotions, q tips, aftershave was gross. The q tip had grim in the bottom of the clear container they used, it was obvious no one cleaned or wipe out the container before refilling. Most of the lotions were half open and dripping. I also complained about the soap dispensers twice, which was either broken, empty or filled with water. I was basically ignored. The locker and the wet area just needs a good cleaning. I think it's just getting more crowded and the staff just can't keep up, at the same time they are trying to cut corners to save money. They've changed the menu and raised some of the prices, $15.00 or more for fried rice? I really enjoyed my passed visits but I'm not sure if I'll go as often. read more

I feel a bit weird giving the spa castle a one star rating because I loved this place so much.. However things have taken a turn for the worst, and worst yet I don't think it will ever change for the better.. I believe they've taken the quantity over quality approach.. As long as there are hoodrats and a billion screaming kids to fill the place they will continue on there downward spiral.. Cons Closed poolside bar Too many noisy kids Loud people in the sauna Bad staff Bar area (who wants to go all the way upstairs to get a drink) Drink prices ($14 for a plain unmixed drink) Pros If ya go in the winter during the week ya might get lucky and half enjoy yourself when there's not so many people around Overall previous ratings have all been correct the place was amazing a true getaway till the gangsters and hoodrats busted up in there getting drunk and having sex in the pools while there kids scream there faces off stealing all the towels and uniforms that really changed the place lmao.. I'm laughing but it's sad and true after I saw this soap opera unfold before my eyes where one Russian mans wife got drunk and started having sex with some drunk Dominican guy I knew it was the end and so it was.. read more

DO NOT GO if you expect a SPA or a relaxing, clean experience, The staff is beyond rude, misbehaved kids everywhere (there was a woman with an INFANT on her chest in the hot tub!). The food ratings of the facility are an A, B and C! This is an overpriced, unclean bath house. I took the subway from Manhattan and I wish to warn others... The media who all gave glowing reviews of this place should return and see what's it's really about. HORRIBLE. Do not go! Disclaimer: I joined YELP with the intention of writing a poor review of this place to warm others (I attempted to speak with a manager to inquire as to why 20+ patrons were waiting outside in 90+ temperatures for a shuttle to return to the subway but, he flat out refused to look at me let alone engage in productive dialogue. Days later and I am still concerned that I might have picked up some sort of a foot fungus or infection and hoping that the high chlorine in the hot tub killed the semen from the couple clearly grinding next to me (yes, when I realized what they were doing, I got out of the water). Totally gross. If anyone has connections to the health department, let them know a surprise visit would generate tons of income in fines. read more
